Help with first time "controller based" Site Survey

We are moving from autonomous 1242AG to "2500 LAP with 2600 WLC"
I am used to bringing 1 autonomous AP to do my Site Surveys, but now that that I have a LAP, does it mean I need to bring a Wireless Controller with me so that the LAP could join it?
What do you guys do? Bring WLC, LAP and small UPS?
Any ideas would be helpful
Thanks!

Hi,
If you only have a LAP now then also you can convert to autonomous AP and do the site survey and then convert back to Lightweight.
You just need the 2 images.
One autonomous image:k9W7
http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284362264&flowid=34154&softwareid=284180979&release=15.2.4-JB4&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest
One lightweight image: k9W8
http://software.cisco.com/download/release.html?mdfid=284362264&flowid=34154&softwareid=280775090&release=15.2.4-JB4&relind=AVAILABLE&rellifecycle=ED&reltype=latest
Site survey is nothing to do with WLC(You can go ahead with Autonomous AP for site survey).
On the same place put the LAP and connect to nearest switch.
WLC push the config to LAP and also manages the RRM feature(Power, Channel....).

• Help with first time IPS configuration

I just installed an AIP-SSM module in our ASA 5520 firewall (protecting a school district). I successfully configured it to scan all traffic sent both directions with the following config:
access-list IPS extended permit ip any any
class-map ips-class
match access-list IPS
policy-map ips-policy
class ips-class
ips inline fail-open
no service-policy global_policy global
service-policy ips-policy global
I also configured it to Deny Attacker Inline when RR=75-100. Figured that was a simple configuration to get things started. However, we noticed that some websites were running very slowly after I implemented these settings. What is causing this?
I guess the other option would be to reconfigure to only scan incoming traffic initiated from the outside to help protect the district from incoming attacks. But I thought it would be more responsible of me to configure it to scan both ways to protect external hosts from an attack that a student could initiate from a school computer. Is this really necessary or am I creating headaches for myself?

Thanks for your response. I found DocID 71204 and based on that I modified the IPS config as follows:
access-list IPS permit ip interface outside any
class-map ips-class
match access-list IPS
policy-map ips-policy
class ips-class
ips inline fail-open
service-policy global_policy global (put the default back)
service-policy ips-policy interface outside
But now the IPS doesn't appear to be doing anything, so I must have done something wrong. I modified signatures 2000 and 2004 with an RR=100 so that any incoming pings should be seen as a high-level attack and the incoming IP denied. If I go back to the original config this test works, but not with this config (which according to the Cisco doc should send any incoming traffic initiated from outside to the IPS).

• Please help with first time PC build

As a guy coming from a 8 year old 3,1 MacPro into PCs I need a bit of help evaluating all the different combinations when it comes to building a PC.
I'm woking in CC mainly with After Effects and Premiere. In AE I'm working with Element 3D/optical flares, getting into some C4D.
Premiere mainly with HD and Blackmagic cinema dng & prores. Working with some 4k Red footage. Additional CC applications but After Effects and Premiere are the main concern. Also, hoping to use Resolve, but haven't.
I'm not going to be building it myself, there is a computer place that will be assembling and this was their suggested build with parts that they usually use with workstations along with some of my input from looking online. I think the vast amount of work they do is for gamers, and since I won't be gaming at all I want to make sure this is a solid work machine.

• This is driving me crazy!!! Help with first time exporting files from computer to MP3 Pla

Hello All.
I'd REALLY appreciate any guidance here. I bought a USB converter to USB 2. My computer does detect it, but I cannot find it when I go to the sources and go under my computer. All that comes up at that point is the A,C, and D dri'ves. When I go to my computer icon on my desktop it shows Creative Zen as on there. Does anyone have any tips on how to get the USB dri've to come up under sources?
This is so much work to be putting into just getting some music into this player!!!
Thanks so much.

Go to: My Computer/Control Panel/System/Device Manager. Scroll down the Device Manager menu until you see USB devices. If there is a yellow triangle beside one of them, you probably have to update the driver from the install CD that your USB 2 card came with.
Reboot and it should be OK.

Hi to all and please be kind to this new applee.  I am vary familar with Windows but not Apple.
I am having problems with first time setup.  Choice wifi network ZAJ34 has full connectino bars but requires a password to connect with it.  Tried to use "Connect to iTunes" and plugged in the USB cable.  Windows7 ran ok and "MyComputer\Apple iPod" shows up in Explorer.  All I get to is the screen that shows the cable pointing to the music symbol.  I am new to Applie iPod so I am totally lost.  I have the Apple iPod touch 8GB Black (4th Generation) CURRENT MODEL.
Operating System - iPod touch User Guide (For iOS 5.1 Software) downloaded, not sure.
Thanks

Verify that you are using the latest version of iTunes. [How?  I am not past selecting a network.]
Back up your device. [Do not know how, again, I am not past selecting a network.]
Transfer and sync content to your computer. [Hooked up the USB cable and nothing happens.]
Restoring your iOS device
Connect your device to your computer. [Hooked up the USB cable and nothing happens.]

• Help with usb Midi controller on brand new machine! Please!!

I just unboxed my macbook pro 13" non-retina and updated to 10.9.1, installed a few of my apps, etc.    I'm having a meltdown over my midi-controller not being recognized. It is a Roland A-49 USB Midi Keyboard controller that is not powering on. It runs off bus power just fine in my older 15" MBP and also from my '12 Mac Mini. When I pull up the system profiler, under USB it reads to me:
How can I get this working properly?

Hi there, been a viewer of the discussions here for a while & felt compelled to finally sign up to hopefully offer some help with this problem as I had exactly the same when I first got Logic Pro.
The problem is more to do with the sound setup than the controller keyboard as logic is sensing midi data as you have seen in the transport.
I would suggest firstly (Hopefully Pro & Express are the same in these respects) clicking on the Logic Express tab in the top left, then Preferences, then Audio.
In the box that appears select the Drivers tab. Then make sure that the Core Audio check box is ticked. Under that make sure that you output source is selected (ie your interface if using monitors, or built in Audio if not)
Hopefully this should help.
The simplest to test your sound is by clicking on the Audio tab (3rd or 4th along at top) & opening the Loop Browser, choosing a catagory & draging a sound onto a track.
Remember to click on the track you will be dragging onto to select it & in the Loop Browser Blue loops go onto audio tracks & green onto instrument tracks.
Now with testing the controler keyboard...
Click on an instrument channel, then goto the bottom left of the screen where you will see that channels fader.
Above the fader click on the I/O (you may have to click & hold here) choose either mono or stereo, then choose say the EXS24 & try you keyboard.
Hit * on the numeric keypad & play something, then hit space to stop & you will have your 1st region.
I hope this helps with you problem, Logic can be confusing at times but is worth sticking with.
Good luck

• Need Help! First tim

This is my first time getting a PCI sound card, because I was very curious how different the quality would be.
I saw an ad on a site marked "X-Fi sound card", and I got it for $80. They knew nothing about it, it was their son's, so I had to do research on which one it was beacause there was no box or driver CD. After seeing all the pictures I could, I'm guessing its the SB X-Fi Fataity XtremeGamer, because its big, black, and has the little black X-Fi box on the corner. (I'll post up pictures upon request to make sure with you guys)
I had to find the drivers for it, so I did...but it wasnt the "Xtreme" version, because there were none on that page, just Applications. So I got the regular Fataity ones, thinking it was the same - well, they work. (Is there anywhere I can find the XtremeGamer ones?)
I install the card, download the drivers, reboot to disable my onboard, and my speakers are working, but my Microphone isn't.
Did I have to download anything else to get it working? I only downloaded the drivers from the download site. I only have the "Audio Console".
Also...is that little red light on the card normal? Is it a warning?
Please help! Thanks!

This is my first time here too, and I was just reading your message and thought I could help...
With the Creative?Software AutoUpdate Downloading System, I don't think you need to know what kind of card it is to get started. In order to find it, all you need to do is to?go to Creative's homepage and click on the Support tab and then choose, "". It will then inspect your computer to see which Creative product(s) is (are) plugged in and then it will give you a list of drivers and a list of application software that you need to download. It will also tell you what the name of your soundcard is.
After you have made your downloads, now that you will have the name of your soundcard, go back to the Support tab and this time, choose and check to see if there is anything that hasn't been downloaded. I just did mine a few minutes ago, and found that there?was one download that didn't get downloaded under the AutoUpdate process.
How do you know what downloads you have already made? By default, the downloads are downloaded to the folder at C:\Program Files\Creative\Software Update\cache. The names of the folders will be the same as the names of the downloads on the Creative website. My advice is that you install all of the application software as well as the drivers. I know some people who didn't want to bother, so they just installed the driver and then quit at that. The driver just makes the soundcard work, but the application software is what makes it functional with all the "goodies" that makes it what you pay for. They have a graphic equalizer, a Karaoke function, a speed-up or slow-down function, a media player, and many others (and yes, you can even play a song backwards!)?but you don't get these programs unless you install the applications too.
When you are finished with your installations, you can go back to the homepage and this time, click on the Product tab and choose "", and then click on the name of your product to see what it cost when it was new and what was supposed to come with it. This page will give you all the technical information and advertising?about your soundcard. If you did get the X-fi Fatalty, then you should also have gotten a control console and a remote control along with the soundcard, so I hope you got everything for your money.
I hope this hel

• Help With a earth spinn flash site

Hy all and I hope I am no too stupid... but I am not realy

image? it's look more a drag or smth... can anyone help me? I give
the source if someone want... mail please at
[email protected] or messenger id... Thanx

I doubt anybody will be able to help you specifically with
that template.
I have looked at it, and it is not something I would
recommend using, by any means.
From the general point of view of this forum's user, I can
safely say that this it is a very bad
template. That point of view is not based on how the template
looks, but on how it works, good
coding practices, accessibility, and web-design /
web-development common sense.
Flash navigation is a bad idea.
Slice-centric layout is a bad idea.
music playing in the background is a bad idea.
Pretty much everything about this template will make a
web-designer scream and run away as fast as
possible.
Then there is nothing wrong with using such template if you
have no intention whatsoever to learn
how to build web pages by yourself, use healthy coding
practices, and in the process to learn what
makes an accessible, valid, useful web page/site.
IF you really want to use this template, there might be a
forum dedicated to these templates on
monstertemplate.com, you might want top ask your questions
there.
Else, forget about this template, start afresh your own page
layout in Dreamweaver, create your
graphic elements in Photoshop, and come back here to get help
with that process.

• 1 gb ipod nano - trouble with first time charge?

I've recently tried to charge my 1gb nano for the first time using my USB hub. I'm running xp w/sp 2...and after plugging the nano into my computer it did nothing. I researched and buying an A/C adaptor was suggusted. I purchased the charger and still nothing. Not a battery icon, a lightning bolt..nothing. I will say when I first plugged the nano in to charge the apple icon came up twice and I haven't seen any signs of life from the thing since then.
Can anybody help? Prior to my returning or throwing this thing out the window? Maybe technology just isn't ready to properly replace my discman!

See these or return it and get another one.
My iPod won't turn on.

• Need help with new Time Capsule/Airport express setup!

I just hooked up a 500g time capsule to replace an airport extreme, and now my airport utility on my MacbookPro Retina no longer recognizes the airport expresses I had on my network for airplay purposes.  Can anyone help with this issue?

Instead of a switch you need a wireless router, because your modem will only assign one public ip address to the switch and that ip address will be forwarded to any one computer at a given time...You should replace the switch with a wireless router and it should resolve your concern...

• TCP/IP Connecting with Real Time Controller

I have a host running Labview on a windows XP and a realtime embedded controller on a pxi chassis that acts as the server.  When the realtime is started it automatically goes into listen mode and listens for a connection from the host.  The host opens a connection.  After a valid connection is open the Real-Time side goes into a TCP_Read and the host can then send commands that the real time processes and sends to the FPGA on the pxi-chassis.
Now the problem I'm having is how to handle the case when a TCP connection is lost.  I can have the TCP_Read on the real-time error on a time out and then go into a listen mode but this isn't very logical because then the host will have to reconnect each time a time out occurs.  So if I make the TCP_Read timeout be infinite and if the connection is lost (let's say I unplug the ethernet cable and re-plug it back in) then I cannot recover from this and the Real-time will need to be re-booted.
I've tried to send the Real-time into listen mode if the error code is other than a timeout error (code 56) and have it go back to TCP_read mode if it is a timeout error.  But if the connection is lost by means of a physical way (such as me pulling the ethernet wire and plugging it back in) then the Real-Time never sees that the connection is invalid.  The host on the other hand can detect it bc it will get an error when it's trying to write?
So my is:
Is there any way to prevent an infinite loop that needs a reboot and at the same time prevent the host from reconnecting every time there is a timeout?

Hi SJeane,
I apologize for taking so long to respond, but I wanted to test this on my end.  In doing so, I realized that using the RT Reboot Controller.vi after the connection is lost does not work because the message to reboot cannot be relayed to the target without communication!  Thus, to solve this problem, we have to approach it a different way.  You mentioned that you tried programmatically clearing errors, but did you try to reestablish connection after clearing the errors?  I tested this on my end with a FieldPoint controller, and the attached VIs resumed operation even after unplugging/replugging the Ethernet cable (no reboot).  Will this solution work for you?

• Not exactly iweb - need help with a graphic for my site

This doesn't fit anywhere so dumping it here. I drew by hand a graphic I want to use with iweb to put on my site as my site's logo. Main problem is that getting the background transparent isn't working well as when it was scanned the scanner didn't back the background "pure" white. I have tried adjusting the whitepoint and setting the color depth down, but still no good. I don't know a ton about graphic program use. I have an older copy of graphic converter that came on this powerbook when i got it. I would be fine having the graphic loose the marker look and have solid fill colors - just I am not good enough with computer drawing tools to do it on the computer! So I either need to get a volunteer to help me out, or some help with some detailed instructions to get this to work out... (also I am broke so no cost/shareware is only option here)
many thanks!!!!
I can get you a scanned jpg of the pic if needed.

THANK YOU/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png so the tolerance makes it not care so much about the gradations in color? what else is tolerence good for?
I have a cleaner copy now after someone suggested GIMP, so played with it last night - though couldn't figure out transparency - that was clear on converter- just not cooperative till these wonderful directions.
So now I know how to do it without messing with the pic, and with messing with it - both good lessons and got a bit brighter color out of the deal.
many thanks for the straightforward and clear directions, they worked perfectly/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png extra strars for you/___sbsstatic___/migration-images/migration-img-not-avail.png

• Help with first use of nano - continual do not disconnect message

Hi,
I have connected my ipod nano for the first time to my computer - a message advises me that i am not using a hi-speed port and i have the message "do not disconnect" - my question is will the use of this port eventually start up the installer of itunes etc and if not will i damage my ipod if i disconnect it from the computer?
Many thanks
Angela

Hi Angela!
When your iPod displays "Do Not Disconnect", it is not safe to just unplug it right now (yes, it certainly could damage future connection ability from your iPod to your computer if you simply disconnect it right now).
You'll need to first eject your iPod before it is safe to disconnect it.
You can eject your iPod through several ways, including the Safely Remove Hardware program, found in the System Tray Icons in the bottom-right area of your screen. Select "Apple iPod" and click on "Stop".
For more info on this subject, see if these Support articles help you:
About the Do Not Disconnect and OK to Disconnect screens on your iPod

I hope this helps you,

Okay! My site is on my web host! I am a little lost since my web host gave me not totally clear directions on how to do this. I had sent him some of my pages including my home page he connected to their web server along with a dating software that was connected to the pages I sent. This is what he wrote after the comments in bold and so I am little lost.

IMPORTANT!!!!!
Be sure to download the entire site into your Dreamweaver and place a backup copy of it on an external hard drive or someplace else secure.
That's where I am lost, how do I download to DW? I previously loaded locally since I was working on my site on my lap top, so I know I have change those setting in DW. I can look thru my DW book. It's the download part I am a little confused about.
Thanks for responses to help me!

Remote view, local view shows the files on your computer (thus the name local).
Just a tip, you can expand the files panel to full page by clicking on the expand icon on the far right hand side, (click on this again in expanded window to return to the main DW program).
