DW8 - Need help with Flash Mirror Gallery by Flashdevelopment24
I just purchased an image viewer called Flash Mirror Gallery by Flashdevelopment24:
http://www.flashdevelopment24.com/extensions/flash_photo_gallery_06.aspx
I use DW8. Unfortunately the wizard and the instructions are WAY beyond me. I can insert the object on my page but I have no clue how to import images into it, do I need to create separate thumbnails?, etc. Its a European company and the English isn't taht great either which doesn't help.I went through all their FAQs and examples and I don't have a clue.
I'm doing something very simple, all I need are VERY simple directions on how to make this work. It would be best if there was a YouTube or other video tutorial available. I paid 45 buck for this and it useless to me right now. Help!I paid 45 buck for this and it useless to me right now. Help!
Sorry can't help, don't know the product at all.
If you are having problems with it, then it's best to contact the people you purchased it from no? They should either help you with support issues, you you should get a refund if it doesn't work as expected.

Hi All
would someone beable to help me with some code, I downloaded a photo gallery example, at the moment the movie plays the photos when you click a button(timer)
What I'm trying to do is to get the movie to auto play the photos on load rather than having to click the button. I have been lookin in the scrip, I think its something to do with
// initialize values
currentIndex = 0;
but when I change this value to 1, not much happens, would some be able to have a look within the code and see where I can change it so that the movie runs the images automatcally on load.
I have pasted the code below, hope this is ok?
many thanks for anyones help!

I am putting together a photo gallery using the tutorial
found
here.
I have completed the basic tutorial and it is working well. I need
help though in implementing some advanced features not covered in
the tutorial but shown in the proof of concept
here.
I want to include a "gallery" selector like the proof of
concept, but i have no idea as to how i would go about
incorporating it. I have had a look at the code and it doesnt seem
to be all that difficult, but i just dont know what to do. I am
open to anything anyone can suggest even adding more Datasets if
needed. the other thing that is included in the code selection are
the Next, play/pause, and previous buttons. If anyone could tell me
how to get that to work i would appreciate it.
Thanks
Ryandid you have any luck figuring out how to make your photo
album? I'm working on my own and am also having a hard time
understanding the proof of concept without a full tutorial. -

Need help positioning flash photo gallery partially behind graphic.
I have created the basic photoshop layout that I will now be assembling in Dreamweaver. I wish to create a 4 or 5 image gallery using LightBox 2 that will rotate images within the header graphic. Image attached. How would I accomplish this code wise. Would I place the arched graphic within it's own <div> and float it above the div that holds the slideshow/gallery? Any help would be appreciated.
To the example that you have linked to above, make the following additions
<div id="arch-container" style="position:relative;">
<div id="arch-img" style="position:absolute; top: 170px;"><img src="images/arch-img.png" alt="arch_img" width="959" height="195" /></div>
</div>
I have used inline styles to make it easy on myself, but in reality you would put the style rules in the corresponding element selector in the CSS. Also, you would readjust the values to suit.
Also, it is worth mentioning that placing a width and height on your image as you have done, should really be done using CSS.
Added:
As a side note, I have gotten into the habit of using classes for all of my style rules. I came to the conclusion that this is the way to go when trying to analyse a problem within my web page. ID's are unique per document and as such are used when manipulating the DOM using JavaScript. Now when I see an ID in one of my documents, I know that it is not a styling matter as in CSS, but a problem within my script.
Take the above note as a thought, because there is a ongoing debate about this.

Flash Photo Gallery Image Rollover Help
Ok I was wondering if anyone could help me with this I have
created a flash photo gallery which reads from an xml file. It uses
the following action script
myPhoto = new XML();
myPhoto.ignoreWhite = true;
myPhoto.onLoad = function(success) {
//portfolioTag = this.firstChild;
numimages = this.firstChild.childNodes.length;
spacing = 70;
for (i=0; i<numimages; i++) {
this.picHolder = this.firstChild.childNodes
this.thumbHolder =
thumbnails.createEmptyMovieClip("thumbnail"+i, i);
this.thumbHolder._x = i*spacing;
this.thumbLoader =
this.thumbHolder.createEmptyMovieClip("thumbnail_image", 0);
this.thumbLoader.loadMovie(this.picHolder.attributes.thmb);
this.thumbHolder.title = this.picHolder.attributes.title;
this.thumbHolder.main = this.picHolder.attributes.main;
this.thumbHolder.onRelease = function() {
loader.loadMovie(this.main);
title_txt.text = this.title;
myPhoto.load("xmlphoto.xml");
I want to add in a rollover effect to the gallery similar to
the one in Flash Gallery 1 in photoshop
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=2961
Would it be possible to take one of the as files from the Flash
Gallery source and intergrate it into my gallery or would I be
better just adding the rollover effect myself?the thumbnail (or its unique parent if you setup this up
without fore-thought) should be a movieclip that stores a reference
to the larger image's path.
search google for flash gallery tutorial. there are bound to
be lots of tutorials. -
Hi,
I downloaded a applet for a rotating flash photo gallery.
However, I can't see any instructions for how to modify the

sufficient.

sorry for the long post; basically I fairly new to flash and
not familair with actionscript at all. I figure that most of what
is need is number signifing the speeds. Which i added by removing
the curly brackets and adding a number,
i.e var maxitems=parseInt("10",10);
but I dont know how to insert my images....I've tried
various things but i only end up with empty spinning boxes.
If someone could start me off with where i put the images i
may be able to complete it myself , but the more help the better
really as I dont really have a clue and I dont know where to look
for basic knowledge on actionscript language.
Thanks alot in advance,
LizHave you tried in Acrobat: Tools->Print Production->Convert Color?

Flash Photo Gallery Template 3 for CS2
I am trying to build a flash photo gallery using template #3
from Photosho CS2. I can not figure out where in the scripting the
wmode=transparent param goes. The swf is embeded using a script.
gallery is located here:
http://www.depasqualeacademy.com/jay/photo_gallery
I tried to contact Chopping Block, but they do not support
the template and Geoff Stearns no longer works there.

Just jump into the cold water and soon you will be swimming.
First try to load any pictures at all, later deal with the
thumbnails, even later with greyed out and so on.

Adding a Flash photo gallery on DW
So, I'm trying to add a flash photo gallery on my site. I am very new to this and cant seem to figure out how to do it exactly.
I've found free templates online and downloaded the files. But I am unsure where to go from there. Like I said, I very unexperienced with this program, I did find the add flash option, but am unsure which files to add.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank youHi
The documentation confirms what I have written in my previous post it is controlled by an xml file.
Copy all the files required as indicated by the documentation into the required folder and open the gallery.xml file in dreamweaver.
Insert the images file locations into the xml file as indicated in the example. Important - the location of the files MUST represent where they would be if referenced from the html page you are inserting the image gallery into.
This means that it is probably better if you create the xml file in the same file position as the html page and the copy this file into the required position in the gallery folder that they suggest you create.

NEWBIE: Flash photo gallery! Images are pixelated:(
Greetings everyone. I created a Flash photo gallery using
gifs. While most of the images are acceptable visually, a bunch of
them are quite pixelated.
I read online that I am supposed to use vector graphics
whenever possible, but not all images where created as vector
graphics.
I have a few questions:
If I create the image in illustrator, what format should I
save it as to be used in a Flash gallery? If I create the image in
Photoshop what format should I save it as?
Lastly, is it true that Flash will load vector graphics
quicker than gifs?
Any info would be appreciated! Oh yeah, my site is
inthemixgraphics.comif you create an illustrator file, actually drawing with the
tools rather than just importing a bitmap and exporting it again,
it will indeed give you a vector file you can work with. you can
even export it as images that are readable by flash-- however,
you'll get the best looking stuff if the vector is basically
rewritten in flash. Import a (dot)eps file into flash, and break it
apart. Look at how the objects maintain their shape.
Now publish the thing and look at the bandwidth viewer. Is
the filesize much smaller than if you imported the .jpg? It should
be, but at least there is a way to check it.
I get the most pixalation from images when I'm forced to
scale .png's down by less than a perfect %. Its weird.
If you're loading externally, I'm not entirely sure the
correct process to bring an optimized vector in, as my thoughts are
that it would be the actual size of the .eps image (or .swf if you
can export to that) itself.
--I hope this makes some sort of sense, and if it doesn't
you'll have to forgive me.

Help putting a photo gallery in Dreamweaver CS5.5
Hi,
I'm new to web design and have been learning to use DW CS5.5. My goal is to design a website for my small, online antiques business with a photo gallery in it.
The Adobe Extension site lists several photo gallery options, but none for CS5.5. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can easily, or fairly easily add a simple photo gallery to my new site? By simple, I mean thumbnails linking to a page with a larger photo and descriptive text, nothing else. I really want to keep it simple.
Is my only choice to build it myself from scratch?
Any help you can give will be most appreciated.
