Help with formats and rendering.

I am new to final cut pro, so am still getting the hang of everything.  Whenever I put my files into the timeline they need to be rendered before I can play them, same thing when I make a small change with a clip, this means I am only editing about half the time, and the other half I'm waiting for my files to render.  I tried to set up Easy Setup but wasn't sure of the format.  All my video files end in .m4v.  I also was thinking about getting more RAM to help speed up the rendering proccess and let me use the multiclip editing (which only plays frame-by-frame or crashes the program currently), does anyone know if that would help?   I'm using a 15 inch MacBook Pro with 2.4 GHz Intel Core Duo 2, 2GB of RAM, and 52.91 GB available on the hard drive. Thanks!

It sounds like it's just the standard pixelization when the action is too fast for the bit rate. I don't know how you created the DVD, but you need to increase the bit rate of the video.
If you did it in iDVD, I think the only way to do that is to go into the Project Info and set the encoding to Professional Quality. That's iDVD-speak for two-pass variable bit rate which will always be the best quality. It will take longer to encode, and it won't encode in the background, but it's worth it. Depending on your video, it will also let you fit a longer movie on one disc without a DL disc.
If you're using iDVD, once you get a creation you're happy with, be sure to do File Menu---Save As Disc Image...  instead of just burning a DVD. The resulting file will let you burn multiple copies quickly (using Disk Utility) instead of re-encoding every copy.

  • Need help with format and reinstall of leopard

    hey guys. I am having major problems with my MacBook. I have been using it for over a year with no problems, however last night it crashed big time. Data loss isnt an issue, as I did a full backup the night before. I need to know if it possible to format the hard drive through the terminal. I have been trying to do so with no luck as the drive continually gives me the error "resource busy." it does this in terminal, single-user mode and disk utility off of the DVD. I am pretty savvy with all but the most complicated terminal work. How do you check running processes and end them through the terminal? I think if I can fix that, I might be able to format the drive. Its havng b tree and leaf errors through fsck. It may need to be replaced. Let me know what is this best way to format the drive and get it back to a blank slate through the terminal and fix the resource busy problems.

    If you boot the "offending" Mac as a FW target disk, there should be no permissions issues on that drive. Permissions are controlled by the OS which will not be loaded when the computer is booted into target disk mode. If the target disk is connected to a running Mac, you should be able to treat the drive just like any other external FW drive. At that point, you should be able to delete any existing partitions on the drive, create (a) new one(s) and "zero out" the drive. There is an "Ignore permissions on this drive" option that should be selected. I can't imagine any logical reason that you could not reformat the drive in this manner.

  • Help with writing and retrieving data from a table field with type "LCHR"

    Hi Experts,
    I need help with writing and reading data from a database table field which has a type of "LCHR". I have given an example of the original code but don't know what to change it to in order to fix it and still read in the original data that's stored in the LCHR field.
    Basically we have two Function modules, one that saves list data to a database table and one that reads in this data. Both Function modules have an identicle table which has an array of fields from type INT4, CHAR, and type P. The INT4 field is the first one.
    Incidentally this worked in the 4.7 non-unicode system but is now dumping in the new ECC6 Unicode system.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Anuj,
    The unicode flag is active.
    When I run our report and then to try and save the list data a dump is happening at the following point
    LOOP AT T_TAB into L_WA.
    As I say, T_TAB consists of different fields and field types whereas L_WA is CHAR 800. The dump mentions UC_OBJECTS_NOT_CONVERTIBLE
    When I try to load a saved list the dump is happening at the following point
    APPEND T_DATA-RAWDATA to T_TAB.
    T_DATA-RAWDATA is type LCHR and T_TAB consists of different fields and field types.
    In both examples the dumps mention UC_OBJECTS_NOT_CONVERTIBLE

  • Help with count and sum query

    Hi I am using oracle 10g. Trying to aggregate duplicate count records. I have so far:
    SELECT 'ST' LEDGER,
    CASE
    WHEN c.Category = 'E' THEN 'Headcount Exempt'
    ELSE 'Headcount Non-Exempt'
    END
    ACCOUNTS,
    CASE WHEN a.COMPANY = 'ZEE' THEN 'OH' ELSE 'NA' END MARKET,
    'MARCH_12' AS PERIOD,
    COUNT (a.empl_id) head_count
    FROM essbase.employee_pubinfo a
    LEFT OUTER JOIN MMS_DIST_COPY b
    ON a.cost_ctr = TRIM (b.bu)
    INNER JOIN MMS_GL_PAY_GROUPS c
    ON a.pay_group = c.group_code
    WHERE a.employee_status IN ('A', 'L', 'P', 'S')
    AND FISCAL_YEAR = '2012'
    AND FISCAL_MONTH = 'MARCH'

    b.district,
    a.cost_ctr,

    a.fiscal_month,
    a.fiscal_year;
    which gives me same rows with different head_counts. I am trying to combine the same rows as a total (one record). Do I use a subquery?

    Hi,
    Whenever you have a problem, please post a little sample data (CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements, relevant columns only) from all tables involved.
    Also post the results you want from that data, and an explanation of how you get those results from that data, with specific examples.
    user610131 wrote:

    I am trying to combine the same rows as a total (one record). Do I use a subquery?Maybe. It's more likely that you need a different GROUP BY clause, since the GROUP BY clause determines how many rows of output there will be. I'll be able to say more after you post the sample data, results, and explanation.
    You may want both a sub-query and a different GROUP BY clause. For example:
    WITH    got_group_by_columns     AS
         SELECT  a.empl_id
         ,     CASE
                        WHEN  c.category = 'E'
                  THEN  'Headcount Exempt'
                        ELSE  'Headcount Non-Exempt'
                END          AS accounts
         ,       CASE
                        WHEN a.company = 'ZEE'
                        THEN 'OH'
                        ELSE 'NA'
                END          AS market
         FROM              essbase.employee_pubinfo a
         LEFT OUTER JOIN  mms_dist_copy             b  ON   a.cost_ctr     = TRIM (b.bu)
         INNER JOIN       mms_gl_pay_groups        c  ON   a.pay_group      = c.group_code
         WHERE     a.employee_status     IN ('A', 'L', 'P', 'S')
         AND        fiscal_year           = '2012'
         AND        fiscal_month          = 'MARCH'
    SELECT    'ST'               AS ledger
    ,       accounts
    ,       market
    ,       'MARCH_12'          AS period
    ,       COUNT (empl_id)       AS head_count
    FROM       got_group_by_columns
    GROUP BY  accounts
    ,            market
    ;But that's just a wild guess.
    You said you wanted "Help with count and sum". I see the COUNT, but what do you want with SUM? No doubt this will be clearer after you post the sample data and results.

  • Issue Using C# to Get RTF Text From Clipboard to Outlook With Formatting and Without Encoding Tags

    I have created a little application that gathers data from various text boxes and then combines the data into a formatted richTextBox.  A person using the tool asked if I could then add a button that would allow that text (with formatting) to be copied
    and pasted into an Outlook Email.  When I do this, I can get the text into an email, but I either strip out the formatting or I get all the RTF encoding tags to come along with it.
    I have tested to see that the copy of the data from the richTextBox has indeed made it to the clipboard correctly.  This has been verified by the fact that I can manually press "ctrl" + "v" and I can past the text with proper
    formatting into the mail body.
    I do know that I can brute force things by trying to manually wrap HTML tags around my textBox fields and then pipe that into an HTMLBody property.  In fact I can get a lot of things to work with the HTMLBody property, but while it is nice that will
    work, I feel that I must be missing something really simple while trying to work with RTF.
    I currently am pasting (using the Clipboard.GetText(TestDataFormat.RTF)) the RTF data into the Body property of the mail item.  This is bringing in all the RTF encoding tags.  I have tried to paste this directly into the RTFBody of the mail item,
    yet an execption gets thrown when executed.  Oddly, though, if I change RTFBody to HTMLBody, I do not get the exception, but I still have the RTF encoding tags in it.  Though if I feed the HTMLBody property straight, HTML text with the encoding tags,
    it will render properly.
    This has me confused then why if I feed HTMLBody HTML text with the encoding tags that it will render, but if I try and do the same for RTFBody and feed it RTF text with encoding tags it still throws an exception.  Any help in the matter would be greatly
    appreciated.  I have included the code snippet below for sending the richTextBox information to the clipboard and then attempting to retrieve it and paste it into an Outlook email.
    Thanks for the help.
    Some pertinent information:
    Blend for Visual Studio 2015 CTP6 (I switched from VS2012 as intellisense was added to Blend in 2015)
    Because of this Systems.Windows.Forms is not in use
    private void buttonEmail_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    //Copy richTextBox information to Clipboard
    Clipboard.Clear();
    richTextBox.SelectAll();
    richTextBox.Copy();
    //Get current date to add to email subject line
    DateTime myNewDate = new DateTime();
    myNewDate = DateTime.Now;
    //Create Email
    Outlook.Application myNewApplication = new Outlook.Application();
    Outlook.MailItem myNewMailIoI = myNewApplication.CreateItem(Outlook.OlItemType.olMailItem) as Outlook.MailItem;
    myNewMailIoI.To = " "; //An attempt to ensure that the focus moves down to the body field
    myNewMailIoI.Subject = "IoI - " + myNewDate.Date.ToString("d");
    myNewMailIoI.BodyFormat = Outlook.OlBodyFormat.olFormatRichText;
    //Pasting data into body of email
    myNewMailIoI.Body = Clipboard.GetText(TextDataFormat.Rtf); //This will past the text with encoding tags into email
    //If this section is uncommented, it will add a properly formatted HTML text to the email
    //myNewMailIoI.BodyFormat = Outlook.OlBodyFormat.olFormatHTML;
    //myNewMailIoI.HTMLBody = "<p>This stinks!!!</p>" + "<p style='color: green; font-size:10pt; font-family:arial'>different font and color</p>";
    myNewMailIoI.Display(); //Allow for window to be minimized
    myNewMailIoI.Display(true);

    Ok, I found the solution.  Part of the issue was caused by the confusion of the HTML body property acting as a text encoder for HTML text when a string is passed in vs the RTF Body property needing to have a plain text file taken and encoded into a
    byte stream.  Even though the RTF text is in readable text (albeit with the RTF Encoding Tags) it needs to be reencoded into a series of bytes.
    This is where I failed to understand the previous answers.  I knew that RTF Body needed to have a array of bytes, and the previous answers seemed to indicate that the data in the clipboard was already in this byte format (this may have just been my
    misunderstanding) and that I needed to somehow take this byte array and do something with it.  My misunderstanding was that all the methods for getting values from the clipboard returned strings and not bytes.
    after some digging last night and with the few hints that were offered before, I came across a post on CodeProject (apparently I cannot post links, so I will try and include this so that you can find the postcodeproject(DOTCOM)/Questions/766917/How-to-convert-richtextbox-output-into-bytearray).
    This showed that I needed to take the raw, RTF text with its RTF encoding tags from the clipboard and and encode it to a byte array and then pass this into the RTF Body property.  Included below is the final code such that I hope that it helps some other
    person as there seem to be a lot of searches for this on the web, but not a lot of direct answers.
    using System.Text;
    using Outlook = Microsoft.Office.Interop.Outlook;
    private void buttonEmail_Click(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e)
    //Copy richTextBox information to Clipboard
    Clipboard.Clear();
    richTextBox.SelectAll();
    richTextBox.Copy();
    //Get current date to add to email subject line
    DateTime myNewDate = new DateTime();
    myNewDate = DateTime.Now;
    //Create Email
    Outlook.Application myNewApplication = new Outlook.Application();
    Outlook.MailItem myNewMailIoI = myNewApplication.CreateItem(Outlook.OlItemType.olMailItem) as Outlook.MailItem;
    //Add Subject
    myNewMailIoI.Subject = "IoI - " + myNewDate.Date.ToString("d");
    //Set Body Format to RTF
    myNewMailIoI.BodyFormat = Outlook.OlBodyFormat.olFormatRichText;
    //Converting RAW RTF data from string to bytes. THIS IS THE FIX THAT WAS NEEDED TO MAKE IT WORK
    string myNewText = Clipboard.GetText(TextDataFormat.Rtf);
    byte[] myNewRtfBytes = Encoding.UTF8.GetBytes(myNewText); //This line cost me way too many hours of lost sleep!!!
    //Inserting RTF bytes into RTFBody property
    myNewMailIoI.RTFBody = myNewRtfBytes;
    myNewMailIoI.Display(); //Displays the newlycreated email
    //If this section is uncommented, it will add a properly formatted HTML text to the email
    //myNewMailIoI.BodyFormat = Outlook.OlBodyFormat.olFormatHTML;
    //myNewMailIoI.HTMLBody = "<p>This works for the HTMLbody property!!!</p>" + "<p style='color: green; font-size:10pt; font-family:arial'>this renders properly</p>";

  • Help with RTF and special characters

    Hi,
    I'm curently working on apex 4.1 and i want to generate an .rtf file which i fill with the information coming from a form.
    I am doing so without any problems when it comes to normal Americam letters.
    I face a problem when i wan't to dynamicly change my subsctitution phrases in the .rtf template with czech characters (á,é...), because i can't just replace the word with these characters in the rtf because it expects to receive some escape formats and not the letter itself.
    Can anybody help me figure this one out?
    I've tried creating a library of the symbols and their asci code and replacing them in the file but they don't always work. I even saved a .doc file in .rtf and copied the code from that one in my .rtf and it doesn\t work. In the original file i have some characters in my file i have other characters eventhough the code is the same...
    I'm puzzled by this one and i don't know what to do.
    Thank you,
    Alex.

    Hi,
    Yes i wan't to remove information from the clob.
    I have an .xml template and if i don't have any updates on some chapters i wan't to remove them.
    Until now i have tried to replace the strings that i don't need using the replace function, but sometimes the string that i wan't to replace is longer than 32726 chars.
    I have comented the xml clob with tags like "<!-- [[$$1.0]] start -->" and "<!-- [[$$1.0]] end -->" and using the instring and substring functions i get the piece of information i wan't to remove.
    "select substr(r.template_content,instr(r.template_content,'<!-- [[$$1.0]] start -->') , instr(r.template_content,'<!-- [[$$1.0]] end -->')-instr(r.template_content,'<!-- [[$$1.0]] start -->'))
    from rtf_templates r
    where r.template_id=3"
    and then i use " clob := replace(clob,get_substr)"
    usualy it works but sometimes the length of the subtr is larger than 32767 chars and that's when i have problems.
    Any ideeas on how to remove the chunks of info from the clob?
    Thank you.
    Alex.
    I have changed the get_substr select because i wrote it wrong :) now it's ok

  • Help with N8 and Adobe Premiere?

    Hi, I am using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4 v4.1.0.
    I recently got a Nokia N8 and am now trying to edit the video recordings, but am having some problems.
    The phone records at 25fps 1280x720 using H.264 MPEG-4 codec, with sound in Stereo 130kbps 48 kHz.
    When I create a project and load the .mp4 file into it, the first problem I see is that it reads it as 500fps and the video is only a second or 2 long.
    I  then interpret the footage to the correct 25fps, and the video then works fine. However,  the sound seems to not be there.
    I've noticed that due to Premiere interpreting it as 500fps, it thus only plays the first second or two of the sound when left as 500fps and plays all the video in that second or two, and thus when changing to the correct 25fps, it is therefore only the two seconds playing over the entire minute of video.
    I also  tried changing the file into other formats. The only other one that  kind of worked was .mov. It allowed the sound to work perfectly, the  video loaded at correct frames, however, when playing the video on  premiere, it then showed black screen for most of the clip.
    Have  tried to find out about this online and installed a couple different  codec packs and media players, but nothing helped with this problem in  Adobe Premiere. However, the clip played fine in the media players, such  as RealPlayer.
    If anyone has any advice on this, it would be  appreciated. I would prefer to fix this issue correctly rather than have to manually interpret or transcode the footage each time I want to edit it.
    Btw, I also posted this question on a forum with Nokia N8 Users, and others also tried it out and had same or similar issues. They also tried on CS5 and it still didn't work.
    *UPDATE* I just tested again to change the file from .mp4 to .mov by simply renaming it, and this time it loaded perfectly into Premiere. However, I have to do this on my XP computer, as my Windows 7 doesn't change the format of file by simply renaming it. Hence, I would still like help with getting it to recognise the .mp4 correctly though in the first place, rather than having to rename my files each time on the XP computer.

    Moshpit84 did you utilize the uninstallers located in Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers to remove your installation of Premiere Pro?  Also what version of the Adobe Application Manager are you currently using?

    - People about these parts comment on Java problems, not Netbeans problems. Netbeans has its own [forums for Netbeans problems|http://forums.netbeans.org/] (<- link), try them.
    - As far as the Java code goes, you will get a much better chance of help if you..
    a) Post an SSCCE (<- link), rather than random code snippets that you think encapsulate the problem. Let's face it, you don't know the answer, and until you do, you cannot be sure the fix is to be found in the code snippets you post. Can you?
    b) Post code in between code tags to retain the formatting and indentation. To do that, select the code and click the CODE button on the Plain Text tab of the message posting form.Easy there tiger, this is not a netbeans problem, so he is in the right place.
    The code does look to be SSCCE or close anyways (remove the ... lines and if it still compiles and run I would say this is SSCCE).
    The code tags is a huge problem here though. I am trying to read it without getting a headache, best as I can tell the OP seems to be doing some really funny stuff with paint. Like is he overriding paint to paint a square? That can't be good!

  • Help with httprequests and responses

    it is my first time writing a servlet, but i need one to work with a project i'm working on. I have a class that will do all the methods on the server side of the project, but my problem now which i need to resolve, is how to get my client side app (made in flash mx) to work with my servlet and communicate the xml information i'm getting on the server back and forth.
    I know that you must answer a httpRequest in the servlet, and i know this must be sent somehow from the clientside app, but i need information and help on how to get information sent in this request the right way, and also help on how to properly format a response that will work.
    from what i know so far- it looks like the type of client-side app isn't important, as long as the request is sent right- so knowing that, flash and java should work fine in communication as long as flash sends a valid request and java answers it right.
    could anyone help me with information and/or help about how the requests and responses send information and what code you need to write to get information (even generalized code will work)
    Help would be really really appreciated.
    -mike

    To get data to and from the server and client, you'll have to seriaze it at one end and deserialize it at the other end.
    I don't know much about Flash MX but a java program on the client can exchange data with a servlet using the above means.
    For example, to read a string from a servlet using a java program on the client, you do the following:
    On the servlet:
    1. set content type to 'application/x-java-serialized-object'
    2. Get an output stream thus:
    ObjectOutputStream outStream =
    new ObjectOutputStream(response.getOutputStream());
    3. Write the data and flush the stream to be sure that all content has been sent:
    outStream.writeObject(myString);
    outStream.flush();
    On the client (java prog):
    1. get a URL: URL dataURL = new URL(protocol, host, port, address)
    2. connect to the URL: URLConnection connection = dataURL.openConnection();
    3. for fresh results everytime, turn off caching:
    connection.setUseCaches(false)
    4. get an input stream:
    ObjectInputStream in = new ObjectInputStream(connection.getInputStream());
    5. Get your string thus:
    String myString = (String) in.readObject();
    This is a very simplified example (you'll have to catch exception an a reall application).

  • Help with nvl and to_char in query

    Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help me with finding the reason that the following query gives me an invalid number error:

    Specifically, it is the nvl(co_modified_date,co_added_date) which is causing the error. The co_added_date has a NOT NULL constraint, and both are date fields. What could be causing the error?

    You have missed format and data argument places in to_char():

    guys ....can u plz help with the starting bit ..
    what should be the opening statement of the class...

    Problem Description
    You are to develop an index class and associated classes.
    Requirements
    Write an Object Oriented solution to the problem in Java. The solution is to consist of:
    A TableIndex class
    A TableNavigator Interface
    A data row class
    An application class to use and test your TableIndex class
    The following UML class diagrams show the public methods of the classes. Other methods may be specified. Specify data members, inner classes and interfaces as appropriate.
    TableIndex Class
    The TableIndex class is an index to a collection of objects. The class is to approximate an index to a data table in memory that consists of a number of rows. To control access to the index a current row is defined that specifies the row that can be accessed. To retrieve a row from the index it must be the current row. The get() method is the only method in TableIndex class that retrieves a row from the index. The current row can be changed explicitly using the methods: previous(), next(), first(), last(), gotoBookmark and find(K); and implicitly using insert(K, V), modify(K, V) and remove().
    The TableIndex class is to be implemented using the java API's TreeMap class and must use Generics. The data types K and V below are generic types for the Key and Value (row) respectively. An important aspect of the assignment is using the Java API documentation to understand the TreeMap class.
    TableIndex
    +TableIndex()
    +TableIndex(name: String, comp: Comparator)
    +getName(): String
    +isEmpty(): Boolean
    +size(): Integer
    +hasPrevious(): Boolean
    +hasNext(): Boolean
    +previous()
    +next()
    +first()
    +last()
    +setBookmark(): Boolean
    +clearBookmark()
    +gotoBookmark(): Boolean
    +contains(key: K): Boolean
    +find(key: K): Boolean
    +get(): V
    +insert(key:K, value: V): Boolean
    +modify(value: V): Boolean
    +modify(key: K, value: V): Boolean
    +remove(): V
    +iterator(): Iterator
    +equals(obj2: Object): Boolean
    +toString(): String
    Additional Notes:
    The table index has an order defined by the compareTo method of the key's class or by the compare method specified in the class that implements the Comparator interface.
    getName(): the name of the index, blank by default.
    isEmpty(): returns true if there aren't any rows in the table index
    size(): returns the number of rows in the table index
    hasPrevious(): returns true if there is a row before the current row.
    hasNext(): returns true if there is a row after the current row in sequence.
    previous(): if there is a row before the current row, move to the row and make it the new current row.
    next() if there is a row after the current row, move to the row and make it the new current row.
    first(): if the table isn't empty, move to the first row and make it the new current row.
    last(): if the table isn't empty, move to the last row and make it the new current row.
    setBookmark(): sets a bookmark at the current row. If the bookmark is successfully set the method returns true. The bookmark is cleared if the TableIndex is empty or the row the bookmark was set on is deleted..
    clearBookmark(): sets the bookmark to null, indicating there isn't a bookmark.
    gotoBookmark(): if a bookmark has been set, go to the bookmarked row. If successful the book marked row becomes the current row and the method returns true.
    contains(K): return true if a row with the key specified exists.
    find(K): if a row is found with the specified key, the current row is set to the row found.
    get(): returns the current row. Null is returned if there isn't a current row.
    insert(K, V): inserts a row (value) with the key specified. The key must not be null and must be unique (not already in the TableIndex). The row (value) must not be null. If the row is successfully inserted true is returned, and the row becomes the current row..
    modify(V): change the current row's data to the row (value) specified. The key and the current row key are to remain the same. If successful true is returned.
    modify(K, V): change the current row's key and data to the key and row (value) specified. If successful the changed row becomes the new current row. If successful true is returned. Note: this is more difficult than modify(V).
    remove(): remove the current row. When a row is deleted the next row (if available) becomes the current row, otherwise if there isn't a next row the previous row becomes the current row, otherwise the table is empty therefore the current row is null.
    iterator(): returns an iterator to the rows (values) in the index. The rows are to be retrieved in order. The remove method does not need to be implemented (its method body can be empty)..
    the equals method uses the name, and the rows (values) in order when testing for equality.
    the toString method should return appropriately formatted data members and the rows (values/data) in the index.
    TableNavigator Interface
    «interface»
    TableNavigator
    +isEmpty(): Boolean
    +hasPrevious(): Boolean
    +hasNext(): Boolean
    +previous()
    +next()
    +first()
    +last()
    +contains(key: K): Boolean
    +find(key: K): Boolean
    Additional Notes:
    The TableIndex class implements the TableNavigator Interface.
    The purpose of the above methods is outlined in the TableIndex class.
    Your Data Row Class
    You are to include a class of your own to represent a row of data in the TableIndex. This is not to be a class that was covered in other programming subjects. It does not need to be complex but must include a range of data types. This class will be used to test your TableIndex class. The class should have an appropriate name and deal with something of interest to you.
    Your Application Class
    The application class is to make use of the TableIndex class and your data row class. It is to clearly show how the TableIndex class is used, and in doing so, test it. The class should have an appropriate name. The application class should create two indexes of different key data types. One of the indexes must make use of the Comparator interface to have a key that is in descending order.
    Output
    Output in the test classes/programs is to go to standard out or a text file. There should be no output from the TableIndex class or your data row class. A GUI interface is NOT required. There is no need to input data from the keyboard or file. Use the Unix script command or write output to a text file (etc) to provide example runs of your test programs.

  • Need Help with Format/Partition.. using cmd

    Okay guys.. Im kinda sick of trying to get my Recovery to work. Seems like its about to finish and everything is perfect.. then suddenly I get an error message saying that Recovery didnt work, or something like that..
    I figured I might as well try starting with a fresh hard drive, then trying the recovery again..
    So someone told me that if I have the HP Recovery disks, then I would be able to try them, even on a brand new hard drive, or a formatted one or whatever..
    Is this true?
    If so, then what I am asking you guys, is, if there is anybody that would be able to help guide me thru the steps needed, in order for me to Format my hard drive, & then partition it or whatever…
    & I wanna be able to do all this, using cmd (command prompt)
    So Please.. anyone.. your help would be greatly appreciated..
    I have an HP Pavilion dv6653cl
    Thanks!!

    Hi,
    There's no need to pre-format a new Hard Drive - if you perform a 'Factory Reset' using your Recovery Discs, these will perform a quick format and also re-create all the original partitions on the new drive as part of the process.
    A complete guide to using Recovery Discs can be found on the relevant link below.
