Help with formula for cell matching ?

Im doing some analysis for a non-profit who allow their members to raise money for their own campaigns (ie: "I'll walk 100 miles for breast cancer.. can you commit $50?'.
So each campaign's key field is campaign_id. In the master spreadsheet, we've sorted the 1,600 or so campaigns into groups based on % of goal. I can't easily rearrange this. I now have new data in a 2nd spreadsheet, again with campaign_id as the key field.
What I need to do is look at the campaign_id in the master spreadsheet (ie: column A), then search for that same campaign_id in the new spreadsheet(also column A). When it finds a match, copy the other fields from the new sheet (ie: B1,C1,D1) into new columns in the master (ie: G,H,I, etc). So that when its done I have one sheet with all the data for each campaign in one place; and without losing the arrangement in the master.
Any suggestions on the formula to do the lookup and then copy ?

There is no way to exchange easily bewteen two different documents.
Maybe you can store your two lists as two tables of a single document.
If you can, it would be easy to fit your goal.

    Here is an approach with a single IF() and an interesting AND() OR().
    The formula in F2
    =IF(AND(B2≥4,C2≥4,OR(D2≥4,E2≥4)),"yes","no")
    This says if B2 and C2 are equal or greater than 4 and either D2 or E2 are greater than 4 then "yes"

    I don't think you can accomplish what you want in a single formula, but this works for me... Essentially, what you want to do is ask the question:  is this the earliest term in the earliest year for the student?  When you ask for 'earliest' (or most/maximum/etc), you have to have groups for the maximum to apply to, therefore you'll need groups on student, year and term.  Since 'Spring'/'Summer'/'Fall' don;t lend themselves to being compared as more than/less than very well, you'll also have to create a formula to convert the text of the term into a value.
    Here we go... oh, and this assumes that your 'Academic Year' values ALWAYS start with 4 numbers denoting the year!
    1 - Group by Student
    2 - Create a formula called 'year': 
            tonumber(left({YourTable.Academic Year},4))
    3 - Create a formula called 'term': 
            if {YourTable.term}="Fall" then 1         else        if {YourTable.term}="Spring" then 2        else         if {YourTable.term}="Summer" then 3
    4 - Group by your 'Year' formula (suppress group header and footer) - this should be group #2
    5 - Group by your 'Term' formula (suppress group header and footer) - this should be group #3
    6 - Create a formula called 'StudentStatus' (or whatever):
                if {@year}=minimum({@year},{YourTable.student})            and            {@term} = minimum({@term},{@year})            then            "New Student in "{YourTable.academic_year}" in "+{YourTable.term}            else            "Returning student"
    7 - Drop the 'StudentStatus' formula onto your details line!
    8 - Have a cup of tea, your job is done.

    Regarding the date matching... As I understand it, you want to truncate the date to Month and Year, not considering the Day part of the date. You can do that with this type of expression:
    =MONTH(date) & "-" &YEAR(date)
    The result for January 10, 2013 would be: 1-2013. If you must have the exact format of Jan-13, you could write this somewhat more complicated expression:
    =LEFT(MONTHNAME(MONTH(date)), 3)&"-"&RIGHT(YEAR(date), 2)

    Ok well, I can't get my code to work. Also, please remember that this is just my draft so it isnt pretty. I will fix it up later so please look at it. The thing I want to do is look into the array for a time that matches what the user entered and return the toString() of that one. I know there is something wrong with my for loop but I cant figure how to fix it. please help. here is what i have so far:

    Inbound.getTime() is a static method of your Inbound class, that always returns the same value, I presume? As opposed to each of the 25 members of your array in, which have individual values?

  • Help with editing a cell in a JTable. DESPERATE

    Hi! Is there someone out there that could help with some source code for editing a cell in my JTable when I run it as an applet??
    It works fine when I run it as an application.
    I manage to select the row and write a number in it, but I can't get out of the cell (it seems that the program stops??). I want to enter an integer in a cell and when I click enter or with the mouse in an other cell the value that I enter should update some other cell( multiply the entered value with some fixed number and update a cell in a second coloumn)
    I am really desperate now..... I have thought about using a MouseListener....
    I am using a tablemodel that is from AbstractTableModel.

    Are you using some cell editors?
    While converting inside them, you might be getting some exceptions (like parseexception)which is stopping you from proceeding further.
    Are you using your own tablemodel with custom datatypes?

  • Help with formula that is dependent on checkboxes

    Hello -
    I can't figure out this one for the life of me... In column A there is a list of tasks, column B has check boxes for each task. Column C has the starting day number of each activity, and column D has the duration of each activity.
    I'd like to check each box for the activities that I'd like to do, enter the duration of the checked tasks, and have the table figure which task starts on which day. ie: - if tasks A, D, & E are checked, then it shows that task A starts on day 1, runs for 2 days, task D starts on day 3 & lasts for 5 days, & task E starts on day 8, and lasts for 4 days.
    Should this be an IF formula? I'm not sure how to make everything dependent of the check box status. Here's a link to the table, if that helps

    Hi Jeremy.
    For starters, I'm less than favourably impressed with your choice to place the file on a site whose first choice, when clicked starts to download a Windows executable file.
    A better choice, and a more 'standard' one here would be to place a screen shot of the result you hope to achieve in your post.
    I've done a little reorganization of your table, adding one column to those described above to avoid having a calculated column between two entry columns.
    Tasks are listed in column A, checkboxes in column B. The estimated duration of each task is listed in column C.
    Columns D and E are calculation columns.
    The value from C is transferred to E if the checkbox is checked in that row.
    Column D determines the starting day  for each checked task, with the assumptions that the tasks will be done in the order they are listed, that each must be finished before starting the next, and that the new task starts on the day the previous one is finished.
    Formulas:
    D2 and filled down to D10: =IF(B,1+SUM($E$1:E1),"")
    E2 and filled down to E10: =IF(B,C,"")
    Row 11 is a Footer row. The formula in E11 is =SUM(E)
    You might find the arrangement below a more logical order for the columns. Note that a different selection of tasks has been made, and the calculations automatically adjusted:
    Revised formulas for this order:
    D2: =IF(C,1+SUM($E$1:E1),"")
    E2: =IF(C,B,"")

    Hi guys,
    I need some scripting help with a formula I am trying to create. Basically, the RWDerived property should replace the Spaces in the descrption of a node with an underscore "_". The description property is the system description property. Thanks.

    From the user guide:
    "The ReplaceStr function, which requires parameters for the old and new pattern, can take
    comma, space, tab, crlf, cr, lf, openparen, or closeparen, in square brackets ([]), in
    addition to normal text strings."
    It's much better to use "[space]" in your formula so that it won't break if someone edits it and changes the way whitespace is handled down the road. That checkbox is such an annoyance!

    I have actual, budget and simulation value. A1=Actual, B1=Budget and C1=Simulation Value. A1 and B1 will change dynamically according to some filters.
    I have a slider which mapped to C1. The initial value to the slider should be Actual. That is C1=A1.

    The slider should be pointed to cell which would be involved in the Formula cell. For e.g. if Cell C1=A1+B1, then slider should be pointing to cell A1 and BI.

    Hi guys, been reading your forums, blogposts, etc and am getting more confused.  I'm just a video girl trying to produce meaningful content through web videos for small to mid sized businesses and want to come over from the dark side. 
    Good news,, I dont need a super giant system,  I do simple editing for web videos, minimal graphics, no motion graphics, no animation etc. currently using CS4, will probably end up with 5.5.
    I want to get imac 21.5 or 27 if i have to..  So here's the question we all have,,, what do I really need besides an Apple fairy godmother to figure this crazy stuff out?????
    I want to be able to have firewire add on, but the rest is what I need help with.   So i've been looking at cs6 specs, even though im not there yet, eventually will be,, so just need to run cs4 now and build from there.  I also want to eventually move to final cut down the road so I want imac able to upgrade to final cut.
    WHAT DO I REALLY NEED MINIMALLY FOR NOW?  WHAT CAN I GET LATER IF i CHOOSE TO DO MORE AND NEED MORE POWER?

    Any responses would be great.  I know you guys are busy answering the really high end tech questions

    All the current iMac models (both 21.5" and 27" with OS X Mt. Lion 10.8) will run CS4, 5.5 and 6 just fine.  They will also run Final Cut Pro X just fine.  Ditto for most any application you may want to use.
    Below are some notes (specific to your apparent requirements) that may help you with your purchase decision:
    Notes on purchasing a 21.5" iMac
    All 21.5" iMacs come with 8GB RAM but you cannot add more later.  I strongly suggest getting the maximum RAM (16GB) when you order the iMac.
    The basic hard drive is a 1TB 5400rpm drive.  It will work fine with Adobe CS but you will probably want the added speed of the optional 1TB Fusion drive for better performance. Some people will recommend/argue for one of the optional SSD drives instead, but they are very expensive and still only come in relatively small capacities - I don't recommend the SSD drives.  Get the Fusion drive and spend any extra money on a good external hard drive for backup and/or extra storage instead of an SSD.
    Notes on purchasing a 27" iMac
    All 27" iMacs come with 8GB RAM and you can add more later, up to 32GB
    The basic hard drive is a 1TB 7200rpm drive - it will be fine with Adobe CS.  There are upgrade options to a 3TB 7200rpm drive or a 1TB or 3TB fusion drive - these will be fine also.  There are also SSD drive options, but I do not recommend them. (Same comments as above.)
    Notes on all the current iMacs
    iMacs no longer come with built-in CD/DVD drives.  If you need one, you will need to purchase the Apple Superdrive accessory drive ($79)
    All of the iMac graphic processors (GPU's) are compatible with Adobe CS 4, 5.5, 6
    It is very difficult to impossible to change or upgrade the hard drive later on, so don't buy low-end thinking you can add a better internal hard drive later.
    Be aware that Macs always come with the latest (most recent) version of OS X.  And OS X Mavericks (10.9) is due to be released soon (in the next month or two).  There is no guarantee that the older Adobe CS 4 or 5.5 versions will run on OS X Mavericks.  If you cannot upgrade to CS 6 in the near future, you may want to purchase now rather than after OS X Mavericks is released.
    For what it's worth, I'd recommend the 27" iMac if your budget can afford it.  You will appreciate the larger screen size and added capabilities over the years you will use the computer.

He told us we would need to come here to download the operating system. I see lots of links to updates but no links for someone like me who has never had anything like this on my computer before.     The AirPort Express Base Station (AX) doesn't have an "operating system" per se, but it does have built-in firmware which pretty much is the same thing. In addition, in order to administer the AX, you will need the AirPort Admin Utility for your Windows PC.

  • Need help with LikeFilter for querying the keyset instead of value

    Hi,
    I'm looking for help with the LikeFilter.
    I need to query the cache to get all entries with key starting with a particular string.
    I could see samples using LikeFilter for querying the values in the cache but not the keyset.
    Can someone help?
    E.g:
    Cache Entries:
    abc123 - value1
    abc234 - value2
    bcd123 - value3
    I want to get all entries with key starting with 'abc'.

    I tried something similar (as below) but this code gives me 'java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/tangosol/util/ValueExtractor'.

  • Need help with pagination for book

    I am working on a book and need help with the pagination. I was able to make the TOC and front matter show the numbers as Roman numerals, and the body of the text as Arabic numerals, but I can't figure out how to restart the numbering sequence for the body of the text. So the front matter is numbered i-xvi, and the text is 17-681. I need the text to start with the number 1. Each subsequent chapter is a section break as well, if that makes a difference.

    Click on the page that shall start on number one. Open Inspector palette > Layout inspector (2nd tab) >
    Section > Start at: > 1
