Help with Full Back up and Restore
I am getting a new Macbook to replace my 3 year old Macbook. In doing so i would like to keep my mac exactly the same. I have opened time machine and done 3 back ups. 1)Does that mean i have done a full back up? 2) How to i get the data onto my new macbook??

Every back up is a full back up.
When you get your new Macbook, boot it using the install disks but rather than installing the system from the disks choose Restore from Time Machine Backup and choose your latest back up.

Help with N8 Back Up and Restore
Please if anybody can help me I'd be most grateful.
How do I put back everything stored on my memory card back onto the phone? I had to do a #7370# this morning as it said my phone memory was low and to delete stuff. I couldn't find anything to delete so thought the *#7370# option would work. Wrong. I now have 84.7 mb free on my phone which is much more. I have 14.3 gb memory free out of 14.3 in my mass memory and 4.08 gb free out of7.42 gb on my memory card. How do i get my phone to show what is on the memory card? As it is I have no contacts or photos and all my music is on the memory card too.
I'm a wee bit useless with all things technical so any help would be much appreciated.
Oh I also back up my phone every day at 4.30am. I thought I would simply restore but the phone says there is no back up content.

AnnI don't believe you can back up apps. If they were installed in your phone memory (C, then the reset wipes them and you need to reinstall them afresh. If they are from the Nokia store it's a pretty straightforward process.
If the apps were installed in any of your mass memory destinations, then in general they should run OK even after a reset. -
Hello. Please can anyone help?
After having issues with my iphone4, I was told to restore it as it was probably a software issue.
So today I have made sure to back up to icloud, and onto my computer / itunes. After restoring my phone, you go through the steps on the iphone, to resore the back up from itunes there shows a symbol of the itunes and a wire to connect. I have connected to itunes and it will not sync. All the information is there on my computer, it goes through all the steps to sync, 1-6 then goes back to itunes. But none of the data is on my iphone, my iphone is still on the 'connect to itunes' symbol!
Am i doing something wrong? How can I get all my data back onto my iphone?

We are about to raise the domain functional level of our domain. We have two DCs, both Windows Server 2008 R2, but the domain is still Windows Server 2003. From what I understand raising it to Windows Server 2008 or Windows Server 2008 R2 should not be a
problem, but reversing that process to a level below Windows Server 2008 would impossible "unless you are prepared to restore the entire domain from backups." I have looked for instructions on how this restoring of the domain from backups would work
(just in case I break SaMBa compatibility), but I have only found resources on how to perform a full server restore (which is unnecessary as our servers would still be there), or how to perform an authoritative restore of deleted items (which is not enough
as I would not just want to recover some lost items, but put it back to functional level Windows Server 2003).
Does anyone know of instructions specific to the "I need to reverse a domain functional level raise" question?
I am running daily "wbadmin start systemstatebackup" backups; would that be enough for this kind of restore?

A forest recovery is required.
Before raising the domain functional level, you should be sure that you will not join Domain Controllers with OS lower than Windows Server 2008 to your domain. If this is your case then there will be no need for recovery. Otherwise, you will need to study
why you need to run DCs with OS lower than Windows Server 2008 before considering raising your DFL.

my bookmaks are disappeared yesterday all of sudden.tried to get back ups by doing restoring from import and back up colum, yet nothing can be processed.
Rather late to mention that it is good practice to keep backups, for instance by following

* and although it must not be regarded as a backup method consider using [[what is firerfox sync|sync]] that is intended to allow you to sync two devices, you then effectivly have a backup on another device.
Make a manual backup of whatever you have now and store it somewhere safe, not in firefox profile or program paths - maybe use the Windows Desktop location. Note unfortunatly the restore process overwrites existing bookmarks.

i generally back up and restore my phone every week.. just that i dont have any problem with the network issues. !!
today at 00:46 1st june.. i backed up my iphone and it was perfect...
when i try to restore it.. it is taking 15+ hours .. and that time stays like that for almost 3 hours... it does not happen.
i even called the apple help center. and they said me to install as a new device... and when i said what wil happen to my messages.. they say .. they wont stay.. and wil be deleted.. and all my apps i need to download again..
but earlier i din need to do any of it.!!! it worked really fine .!!!

At any rate, if you must restore, perform a device reset (settings>general>reset) and then you will have the opportunity to restore from iCloud. Restore a device whenever it no longer works correctly, not just as a matter of maintenance. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. -
My IPhone 5, was backed up and restored. Music doesn't sync, when reconnecting device each time, it only offers restore or new phone rather than sync option. I have reinstalled ITunes but still this hasn't worked. Can anyone help please?
This problem started last year when ios 8 was released. I think apple is trying to force users to buy music on iTunes store and that's why it's impossible to sync other music and also that's the reason why they haven't solved this serious problem. That's really disappoints me and i'm angry with apple because i have like 10 gb of music in mp3 and i can't sync music from iTunes to my iPhone.

we went through the steps as told by an apple rep. it doesnt give the option to pick or choose apps to keep or get rid of. the battery is still draing after the back up and restore. can anyone tell me why or what to do now? Thank you
If still problem after advice from Apple. Take it up with them again, iPhone 4S has full Warranty so let Apple solve the problem.

Sounds like your iPhone was hacked to unlock and now updating locks back to the original carrier.

I have forgotten my iPad password and tried to back up and restore my iPad but it says you need to unlock your device before you restore it but that is the whole reason I am trying to restore my iPad. Can anyone help?

I am looking for software to store photos with. I am not a fancy photographer, and really am just looking for the digital version of a photo album. iPhoto is not cutting it, mainly because it does not back up and restore easily on an external HD.
That's how Time Machine and iPhoto now work. Restore the library to one of the external HDs, check it for the photos you want, export them to the boot drive and delete the restored library.
If you know the file name of the photo you're looking for you can search for them in the TM backup using Find Any File.
My workflow allows me to do that:
1 - upload new photos to a folder on the Desktop.
2 - name the folder to represent the contents and date: 01/03/10-Toads Bday
3 - use a file renaming app to sequentially rename the photos in the folder to: 2010-01-03-Toads Bday-001.JPG, -002,JPG, -003.JPG, etc.
4 - import the folder into iPhoto creating an Event with the same title as the folder.
Now I can search for those file by file name with any app of my choosing. -
My iPod camera won't work. The shutter doesn't open at all. I backed up and restored my iPod but it didn't make it work. Now I'm so mad and confused. Please help.
If you restored to factory settings/new iPod via iTunes (Not via Settings>General>Reset>Erase all Content and Setting) and still have the problem that indicates a hardware problem.

I am having problems unlocking my iphone 5. I have received an email from my old provider confirming that the phone is being unlatched and I need to complete the process through itunes. I have backed up and restored but I have not received a message from itunes stating the phone is unlocked. Do I use the old or new sim card while connecting to itunes or does it not matter. I dont know what else to do to finish the unlock?
You can use either, but if you restored to the backup, then you will not see the message. You need to restore the device as new first, then restore the backup. Make sure you can continue with the unlock first. Many of the emails report, "Your unlock has been approved, restore your device in iTunes in 24 hours", or something like that. If it is ready to go, then as I said earlier, restore as new first, and then you should see the confirmation.

Hi, I recently updated an iphone, I got a little box asking if I wanted to back up and restore (it would restore all media, contants, and everything) but it took forever, and when it was finally done, everything was gone!!! I read some forums on the interenet and they were all saying to right click and press restore from backup but my most recent backup is not listed! I am for sure it backed up because I sat there for hours and stared at it backing up! I need help and greatly appreciate it if someone could please please help. Thank you !

My iPhone 5 shows it's charging but wont turn on even with the hard reset and restore. Just keeps showing low battery. HELP PLEASE
I usually sleep with my phone on charge through the night and I haven't had any problem since, I left my iphone 5 charging last night and in the morning it stated 100% charged so I decided to turn the power off normally (Hold the hold button till it says slide to turn power off) I turned it off and suddenly my iphone went straight to low battery. Although I have been having weird battery percentage changes for example it would stay on 1 % for an hour or so or drain really quickly.
I have restored it as i thought was the thing to do all it's doing it restoring and still stating low battery and I have charged it for hours +. I can't hard reset it nor restore it NEED HELP PLEASE.
