Help with g4 laptop - music production!

could someone help me. i am going to purchase a g4 laptop for its main purpose of music production. Does the laptop have all the same inputs as the desktop has ?
will i be able to connect all my equipment to it etc...

The Power line of g4 laptops have the following ports:
2 usb 2.0
1 firewire 400
1 firewire 800
1 10/100/1000 base-t ethernet
s-video out
dual link dvi out
modem jack
Whereas the ibook has:
2 usb 2.0
1 firewire 400
1 10/100/1000 base-t ethernet
modem jack
vga output
Whereas the power mac g5 has
3 usb 2.0 connections
1 fw 800
1 fw 400
and all the rest
So It depends on how you connect your equipment. I do not foresee any possible circumstance where the powerbook would not be acceptable, unless you truely need the processing power of the g5 processor. For instance, I use my powerbook with a protools digi 002 rack unit which has enough connections for pretty much everyone except the most advanced studios. It uses my fw 400 port. I record to an owc fw 800 drive. So I think the powerbook has all the connections you would need for pretty much any setup.

HELP WITH FINDING MY MUSIC ON MY EXTERNAL HARD DRIVE

OK here goes need some help,i have my music on my external hard drive that i dragged on to my itunes everythings fine no problems there.But i went to tidy up my music in my external hard drive but can't find the mp3's all i see is the album folder.I know that the music is there because it say's on my hard drive and all the music in Itunes plays no problem can someone help me figure this one out.

It points to my external hard drive, it's just when i go to the external hard drive and go to the music folder theres just the artist and album name no mp3's

Help with getting my music on my laptop at work to my desktop at home

I have Itunes on both my home (desktop) computer and also on my work (laptop) computer. I use the same acct name and password for each but my music I have purchased at work doesn't show up on my home computer and vise versa. Anyone out there know how I can get all my music to show up on both computers? THANKS!

You can only download a track from the iTunes Music Store one time. If you want to have the track on a different computer, you have to copy it there yourself. See:

Need help with my iPod music library

I made a back-up of my iPod music library by enabling disk use and copying the music folder from the iPod_Control folder. I recently had to restore (some minor problems when I installed iTunes 7 and updated my iPod), and I moved the songs from the backup music folder to my iPod. All of the files transfered, but my iPod doesn't show the new library. I'm assuming that I have to refresh the library, maybe by deleting the old library file somehow. Any advice? I had songs on my iPod that I no longer have acceess to due to my laptop dying, so simply resynching to my current iTunes library won't help, and I'd rather not look through all the crazy folders in my backup to find my missing tracks. The iPod usually won't view the songs properly unless iTunes puts them on there.
But, you have that folder, which is a good thing.
I would have iTunes update your iPod with those songs.
In iTunes, go to File-->Add folder to library. Add the iPod_Control folder to the library.
iTunes will import all of those songs into your iTunes library with the correct names and everything. Then you can update your iPod with iTunes and get all your music on there and recognized. Do not delete or move the folder once you add it to iTunes, as iTunes may be reading the music from it, and moving it may not allow you to play songs in your iTunes library.
I would restore your iPod before you put the music on there though, as the music you manually added to the iPod may be taking up space and iTunes won't be able to fill that space with music.

I need help with my N70 Music Edition!

How do I fix it? Whenever I press the music button or go to the tracks in the gallery, it processes and by the time it finishes, it goes back to the wallpaper/desktop/starting screen. I still have 54mb out of my 1gb memory card. It's getting hard for me not being able to play my songs. I can't format the memory card because I have no backup and I can't backup the files in my laptop. The laptop only has less than 1gb memory. HELP PLEASE. Thanks

Plz help with my laptop

hi i just got a powerbook g3 from my ffreind, i think its a lombard because it doesnt have those ports in the back. It has like almmost 5 gbs of space and i got 2gbs left, lol. ok back to the point: im trying to download stuff like limewire and java, but when i download the instalation thing on my laptop and i open it , a screen pops up and says that quicktime cant read this file. and now im trying to figure out what program should i start the insalatikon with? plz help me and be specific where it is located.

Welcome to the world of Macintosh! Sooo much better then Windows. And of course welcome to the forums! Anyway it sounds like, since your running OS 9, you either have the file formats set wrong or Quicktime cannot play that sort of media file possibly because it doesnt have the right codecs. I suggest updating to Mac OS 9.2.2 which is free for all OS 9 users as it includes newer versions of Quicktime if you dont already have the newest version. Look under Support>Mac OS> Jaguar and Older and you'll see, on the side, Mac OS 9 support. From there you'll see Updates for OS 9 I believe. Something like that I dont remember for sure and cant check now cause im using my crappy Windows PC and it wont let me get on the support page (typical XP)

Help with syncing my music on my Ipad to my iPHONE

For some reason I am unable to sync my IPad music (larger content) with my IPhone...HELP!!

What is selected under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, and is any error message provided?
If your iPad with a larger storage capacity (larger content as you provided) has more music than your iPhone can store, you must make changes with your music sync settings for your iPhone to transfer less music.

Help with transfer of music after upgrade to Win 7

I upgraded to Win 7 from Vista, which caused the loss of all my current files etc. I had a current backup (on a sep external HD as well as online) of my itunes before I did this, BUT I failed to consolidate the itunes.
Now I have nothing in my itunes but I have lots of folders under "my music" with subfolders including itunes again, itunes music, itunes media, previous itune libraries, etc, etc.
I'm really unclear, after reading several articles about recreating my library and moving my music and so on. Do I need to consolidate now? Would this help put everything where it is suppose to be?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In Windows 7 all the files in iTunes are now in separate folders in iTunes Media so you get mobile apps, music, movies, podcasts etc. I don't know how Vista files were structured but on XP you found movies and podcasts as folders within the music folder.
You can also have folders 'duplicated' in that they can also be visible within another folder. I unknowingly had my iTunes folder stored in both My Music and My Pictures.
Rather than consolidate from the Edit menu choose preferences, go to the Advanced tab. In the top box you will see the location of your files (in my case it is Music\iTunes\iTunes Media), tick 'Keep iTunes Media Folder Organised' and 'Copy files to iTunes Media when adding to library' which should ensure future files go to the right place (and I believe sorts the existing files out.)

Go to settings > connect to PC > default connect type > change to "disk drive". This will let the phone mount as a external disk drive when you connect it to the computer with the USB cable.

Need help with connecting laptop

Hi there,
I looked through the boards and found some messages that kind of fit to my problem, but not completely so here goes.
I have a gateway desktop(windows xp) connected to dsl (charter) and a laptop(gateway solo with windows xp) that I am trying to connect through a wireless router (Linksys wrt54g).
When I connect the wireless router to my laptop it says it is connected, but I cannot get a webpage to appear and once my router is connected I cannot use my desktop online.
I am sure there is just some configurations that need done, but I'm not that familiar with alot of the comuter lingo in order to figure this one out on my own. I mainly use the desktop, but I would like to configure the laptop so I can use it online when needed. Help and keep it simple please...
Another question...do I need to use the wireless router or can I somehow connect my laptop through my desktop or just through my dsl connection?

Connect the Modem to the Internet Port on the Router.
Then , Connect the Computer using a different
Ethernet Cable to Port 1 or Port 2 on the Router.
Now, Press the Reset Button on the rear panel of the Router
for 12 Seconds. Then, Release the Reset Button,
Unplug the Power Adapter to the Router. After 10 Seconds,
Unplug the Power Adapter to the Modem. Then Wait for
30 Seconds, Re-connect the Modem, and once the Lights are
up on the Modem, Re-connect the Linksys Router.
If yes, Open a new Internet Explorer
Page, and in the address bar, type http://192.168.1.1, press
return, And when asked for Username and Password,
Leave the Username blank and in the Password field,
type admin . This will help you access the Router's
Console.
In the Router's Setup Page, just below Setup Tab,
in the blue line, you could an option " MAC Address Clone "
Click on that, Enable it, Save the Settings
Below the Setup Tab of the Router's Console,
Change the MTU from "AUTO" to "MANUAL" , and
Set the Size to 1400, Save the Settings,
Powercycle the Modem and the Router.
Check the Connections.
If you are able to go Online when hard wired to the Router.
Then make your computer wireless and verify . . .

Help with storage of music on ipod to new computer

How can I store the music on my ipod to a new computer with a new version of itunes? The computer that the ipod was registered too was infected with a virus and we are still trying to recover data.

AHHH! Help with iTunes 8 Music Video sorting

I upgraded to the iTunes 8 today, and when I do the brand new search thingy with music, its all weird for just one artists
Ill go search by artist in my library, and when i for example click 'rihanna'
It shows all her music videos i have (which is like 5) under ONE album called "Unknown Album" where all my other artists music videos have seperate albums for each!
What it's doing that i hate!:

I hate this as well. There's no rhyme or reason as to when/why iTunes sometimes looks at the Album entry of the video's tag. For example, I have some videos with no album name listed in the Info-Album field and the video will show:
Song Name
Artist Name
(and will use a "poster frame", as QuickTime calls it, from the video itself)
But at other times, and the problem we're both frustrated at, when the Album info is blank iTunes will show:
Unknown Album
Artist Name
(and will use a poster frame from one of the many videos you may have by that artist. In your example pic, it looks like iTunes is using the poster frame for the "I Hate That I Love You" video by Rihanna...even though you have 5 different videos by her.)
The only fix I could find was to either:
1) enter the actual album name that the video is from (i.e. Good Girl Gone Bad) into the Info-Album field. Then, if you have a song file from the same artist/album (with the associated album artwork for that song) iTunes will use the album art for Cover Flow but will display the poster frame for the selection window in the lower left corner of iTunes.
2) enter the song's name with a period at the end (i.e. "I Hate That I Love You.") into the Info-album field. You'll see that the "Unknown Album" will disappear and will now show as such:
Song Name.
Artist Name
(will use the poster frame from the video for both Cover Flow and the selection window in the lower left)
You don't have to enter the song name with a period at the end, that's just the method I used. Realize though, iTunes will list whatever name you use for the album field of the video into the Album list of your iTunes/iPod library. (i.e. - you'd then have an album named I Hate That I Love You. showing under Albums).
I hope the advice wasn't too confusing. I wish iTunes wouldn't force you to enter an Album name for a video either.

Help with Yahoo! Music Unlimi

i just got a new computer 2 days ago, so i could finally use my 5gb zen micro. everything has been going fine.. i imported over 200 songs using wmp0, and synced them to my micro. then i upgraded to pfs firmware 2..02 to use yahoo music unlimited, which worked fine. then i signed up for yahoo unlimited ( 7-day free trial) and downloaded the yahoo music ingine, which took more than 25 minutes ( i have dial-up). yahoo ingine loaded up, showed and was able to play all my music from wmp and around the computer just fine, but the problem was downloading. when i go and view their music catalog ( i first have to be signed on to AOL because i have dialup) and click add to my music next to a song, it says that the song is being added to my music at thew bottom. then when i go into Download Manger at the left, it says that it will take 25+ minutes to finish downloading, which is horrific. however, just to see if it works, i let it finish, and then it plays back fine. however, i don't know if this is right or not, but that one song i downloaded seems to be 4.3 mb. Anyways, so then i change my preferences to stream the music, and after adding another song ( which went a lot faster) i clicked it , and it took more than 3 minutes to connect, open, then buffer, then had some pauses throughout the song, and for some reason when i try to send this song to my micro, it says the song is downloading so i can't, which is wierd. So I guess my only choice is to use the download feature, but i don't want to spend 25+ minutes everytime to download one song. if anyone has any explanation, suggestions, or advice, i'd really appreciate it, because this was the main thing i bought my micro for, and it seems like such a great program.
PS: i have windows xp with service pack 2 if that matters. also, again i have dial-up, not broadband, so if u think that's the reason for the slow download speed, please tell me.

With out a doubt it's your dial up connection,your trying to stream a file that is at 92kbs on a 56k connection,even with a large buffer it's still going to stall and sputter,don't be taken in by those dial-up accelerators either,they won't help,all they do is serve from a proxy and/or compression,.wma and .mp3 files already are compressed.
I have a pretty fast cable connection,6000/000 and even with that Yahoo lags when loading up a song,remember that it must search through a ,000,000 + songs,then when you play a file it needs to check the license on the internet,usually with a Microsoft server,this adds a little lag,when downloading the license is attached at the last % of the file.
All I can suggest is that you acquire some type of broadband if available in your area,if price is a issue SBC has 500/384 DSL for $4.95 for the first year,Verizon is somewhat responding with price drops but not so radical,cable is more expensi've but the speeds are much greater making it a better deal if money is not a large issue,most cable companies will have a new customer deal,even though I had cable for over 5 years I was able to leverage a $7 a month reduction in my bill by asking for something better than I had been paying.

Need help with volume in music player

Well my blackberry curve 8520 is an exellent phone but i am facing a problem with a feature and i appreciate someones help.
well the side +volume button is not working and i have no volume at all using the headset andthe speakerphone and im a evryday music listner.
I want a way wich with i can higher the volume without fixing the button or doing anything plz help, you are an awsm community and thank you
