Help with Greek fonts

Can anyone advise how I go about putting Greek text on a web
page? If I copy and paste the text in from Word I only get symbols
and not the Greek font. (Am new to this.)
Any advice welcome.

Greek/English and dropped the idea to go back when I needed

Problem with Greek Fonts

We are a team of Mathematicians from Greece and we are
beginners of Authorware 7. Our goal is to develop math Quizzes for
high school students.
When I select the <Quiz> for the startup menu and the
Wizard starts, I cannot type Greek fonts (the question or the
answers for example) only English unfortunately.
Have anyone any idea what kind of settings I have to do in
order to accept Greek fonts in the Wizard.
This problem it’s a big obstacle in our project because
the questions and the answers must be in Greek.
I appreciate any helpful advice for this problem.

Contacts problem with Greek fonts

Since I upgraded my ipod firmware to 2006-10-01 my Greek Contacts are not encoded correctly while symchronizing with Itunes.
Plus I do not have any photos attached to my contacts.
Can I downgrade to the previous firmware?

New to Dreamweaver and need help with fomatting font

Hi, I am new to dreamweaver and have been playing with it for a few weeks. I have Dreamweaver CS5.5 and I am making some detailed html templates for my ebay listings. I have created my tables, graphics, and colors but I am having trouble with my font formatting. Everything is looking really good, but there are a few sentences and even just a few phrases that I want to underline but when I add a text decloration and underline, it just underlines the whole area of sentenses not the specific one that I highlited. I know how to create a h1, h2, h3 etc code and add underline to it, but I don't want to have to format a h1 or h2 tag everything I want to format a little line. The reason I have been doing this is because It really is one of the only ways I have been able to figure out how to underline something. I watched some tutorials which is how I learned this. I figured out in the properties Panel on bottom of page to click on the CSS rule to create certain codes and such, but I am not sure how to do this. I tried one thing which was where it says target rule, I clicked new CSS Rule and then in then in the CSS Styles Panel on right side of screen I selected add property which I was then able to do a text decloration and underline, but it underlines many more sentenses than I am wanting or have selected. Please help so I am able to specifically choose how to underline just a word or two, and even to have just a word or two specifiaclly be a certain font, size or color. I am able to find ways to make this work on words as a whole, but not individual words or phrases.

Bear in mind that an underlined word or phrase on the web means a clickable link to most people.
So, if you want to draw attention to something on screen, use anything (font size, color etc) except for an underline.
text-decoration: underline; is only used in CSS for styling clickable links. Not for regular text.
One option is to use the HTML tag combined with CSS.

Help with embedding fonts in swf file

Hi, I am haviing a problem with my fonts displaying in my swf file. I created the flash site using CS4 on a mac. I thought the fonts were embedded but when I tested the swf in safari and firefox the fonts disappeared are all scrunched up in 1/2" on top of each other in several lines. Its a mess. It is displaying in times or some other font when viewed in on a pc browser.
What I did so far that did not work:
Made fonts static with animation
made fonts dynamic with animation
How can I fix this?
I am still a beginner using flash so the simpler the option the better.

there are quite a few ways you could mess this up but no one way that's typical.
create a new fla. click on the text tool, select static in the combobox and add a textfield to the stage. animate it. test it. any problems?
any other way (or ordering of steps) you use to create static text is prone to problems.

Need help with Java fonts (broken in 10.4.9)

Hi, folks,
There was a post late last year (maybe October?) that explained how to fix a problem with Java fonts. (OK...I know NOTHING, but I am able to follow directions!)
I play games on Yahoo.com (Literati and Word Racer) that now have unreadable fonts since I upgraded 3 days ago. I seem to remember last year's fix had something to do with disabling fonts. I just can't remember what to do and have spent an hour looking for the post.
If you can find it - or tell me what to do - I'd appreciate it. Remember, I need really specific directions.

iMac duo core Mac OS X (10.4.9)

I am able to set up a new account and work but even after deleting all preferences the problem persists in my admin account.
I'll try to look for any font corruption and clear font cache but having to reinstall the OS is a real drag. Not sure why PS should corrupt the OS, itself.
Any chance I can uninstall and remove PS then install again?

Can Someone Help With My Fonts?

I understand that OS 10.4 won't use my old bitmap fonts, but what is the solution?
There are programs that convert Postscript and True Type to bitmap, but what can I do with my bitmap fonts? Do I just have to buy all new fonts?

Those must be some reeeaaally old fonts. I assume you're not talking about the suitcase of bitmap screen fonts for a Type 1 PostScript font.
As far as I know, there's nothing you can do with them. Sorry.
Somone else may have an answer, though. So keep checking back.

Help with missing font matter

The problem started after adopting Windows 7 OS. I have many manuals written in previous version of InDesing which some Type 1 fonts were used.
In my Windows 7, there is no type 1 fonts (furthermore, Type 1 fonts are not compatible with Win 7). So all fonts wirtten in Type 1 were replaced with TTF.   But when I open those indd files, I am getting a missing font error (see the attachment). In all of my indd files, there is no more fonts written in Times T1 fotns. I could not get rid of this error dialog box. Could someone advise me how to fix this problem? This drives me nuts. hummer

Help with adobe fonts-buy, install error message

I would like to purchase a few fonts from adobe. How do I go about doing so and installing them? Would I need to update/upgrade them over the years? Each time I go to the font site and click on a font, I got an error message : 'you may not have everything you need to view certain sections of adobe.com. . . ..it also mentioned my browser may be '......earlier than IE 4 which is not supported.....' I have Win7 64 bit IE 10 so I don't know what's the problem. Any suggestion, anyone?

First of all, you cannot buy Adobe fonts, but rather you license them.
Assuming that you are referring to OpenType fonts, such fonts may be readily installed by either dragging and dropping the .otf font file into the Fonts Control Panel window or by right clicking on the .otf file and selecting the install function.
Although Adobe has done some minor updates to their fonts over the years, there have generally not been any available update or upgrade programs for them. The same is true for other major font vendors.
Windows 7 64-bit in conjunction with Internet Explorer 10 seems to work perfectly fine for me <http://www.adobe.com/type>.
Do you have Adobe Flash installed on your system? I believe that the website works without it, but that may be the problem.

Need a little help with abnormal fonts in Thunar

I just recently installed Arch on my file server and so far I am very happy with it. It's clean, stable and fast. It took some time to get most of it configured properly and setup the desktop environment and some customizations, and I am afraid I head a problem that has me stumped.
Attached below are the file manager (Thunar) displaying Japanese/Korean files with ugly/strange fonts. I've gone through just about all the results in Google I could come up with related to fonts/locale settings but none of it seem to affect what Thunar uses to display these filenames. I've also checked appearance, theme and windows manager settings but none of those seem to work either.
I do not have a whole lot of experience customizing desktop environments, so I am hoping someone on the forum could provide some guidance/pointers.
The box is running on SLIM+Xfce4, with all en_US, JP and KR locales enabled. I've also installed all the related fonts for the respective languages.

Your fonts are generic bitmap fonts that provide all the glyphs your locale requires. You may want to enable outline fonts, TTF/OTF in most cases, system wide. In this article you will find all that you should know to make it possible. For the time being, look at the files in /etc/fonts/conf,d (linked to config files in /etc/fonts/conf.avail), find two pieces looking like that:

Help with my Font Issue???

The only two Windows applications I use, Word and Entourage, are freezing up Word won't open (gets stuck when "optimizing font menu preferences" and Entourage crashes if I try to change a font.
Any suggestions?

Okay. Then I assume you're using Office X? If so, don't worry about trying to find that file.
I'm not sure how much Office relies on, or even uses the system font cache files. But you could try clearing those with Font Finagler. Also remove the "Office Font Cache (11)" file in the Preferences folder again to make sure we know you're working with all clean font cache files.
If after that you still get errors, then you likely have fonts that are damaged. Close all Office apps. Make a new folder on your desktop. Move all fonts from the /Library/Fonts/ folder and your user account Fonts folder into the new empty folder. The only fonts that will be active now are those in the /System/Library/Fonts/ folder. If all Office apps behave properly now, then one or more of the fonts you moved into the new dummy folder are damaged. Place them back 5 at a time, closing the Office apps before and then launching again after. When it errors out, you'll know something in the last 5 moved is bad. Keep repeating the process until you've weeded out the bad fonts. Replace as necessary from the original source.

Need Help with Arabic Font from Microsoft word to Adobe Illustrator

hello after i spoke with a adobe professional at the mac store, I was told that in my Mac computer in systems preferences, click on international and then click tab on Input Menu and select the arabic input source. Once I did that i thought it would work but then realize i saw another issue.
It look totally different. Please any suggestions?

Without a different version of AI (AIME from Winsoft) your are not going to be able to handle a Right to Left language such as Arabic in regular AI. Your best bet is to make a PDF from Word and place it as an image in AI.

Help with fonts on site design

I need help with the fonts. For my menu i used a pixel font
(so no anti-alias enabled). When i test my site and click on the
links, the pixel font turns into and anti-alias font and it makes
everything look ugly. How can i fix this??
