Help with iBook files with media

Hi,
I am currently trying to create a PDF file with embedded video so that it can play within iBooks (so i can put it on the same selve with equilant articles).
from what iv read iBooks may have a problem playing PDFs with media as it has something to do with not being able to import plugins?
As long as i can open the media in iBooks im happy (does not need to be pdf). Anyone got any solutions or thoughts?

Noob needs help with Media Encoder Settings

Hi All,
Please be gentle with me. I am very new to this.
I am using PPCS4 full version on which I am trying to edit and export video from my Canon HF 10 using their AVCHD format.
The Mac is a MAC PRO 2 x QuadCore 3.0Ghz, 1 x 320GB SATA and 3 x 1TB SATA disks with a 30" Apple Cinema Display.
I can import and see the video running in the source window, it can be a bit choppy but i am putting dowm to the lack of RAM (more the way). My real problem is that when I export the files the result is, well bad. I either get what appears to be a line effect every other line on the screen or by using other settings it appears grainy.
My Cam should be recording in 1080i HD and i expect to be able to put this stuff on a DVD / Blue-Ray disk or file and see as good an image as I see in the viewfinder. This I cannot seem to do.
Any ideas?

did media encoder work before and it just suddenly stopped working ? Or is this the first time you tried using it and it just doesnt work from your original installation ? In other words , did it EVER work for you using the HD ?
What source material are you using ? In other words, what type of video. MOV and AVI can have many different types of video inside those file extensions...they are called "wrappers" insomuch as they can have a lot of different "codecs" being used in the video. Can you tell us what the video is that you're using when AME fails to work ?
Also tell more about your computer setup...how many hard drives? Did you set up your system like recommended in many threads here in the forums ?
There are a lot of really good and smart people here who can help you, but they need as much information as possible so they can begin to understand what is going on with your problem. It does take some time and work on your part to put all that info into a message, but it's worth it because most times problems are solved because of it.
ps...not meant to be a criticism because you were angry about problem, but some people probably didnt respond to your trouble right away because of your initial mssg being a little bit scary.. most people here are just users like you and help each other. nobody wants to risk being yelled at or deal with someone who is just angry and isn't really supplying enough information to help solve the problem. That's just my opinion, and I'm glad your response to my mssg was less angry sounding. Whew !

Help with Media Center & Remote

I Have MSI 180 with TV Tuner card and i have the CD´s for Mega180 and WinCinema, the problem was that after install Windows Xp for second time I Have LOST the paper bag with the code for MSI Media Center III, so i Can´t install it and I can´t install the remote control .
Someone can send me a valid serial for MSI MCIII or tell me how to install the remote drivers for using with another commercial version of Home Theater from intervideo? I have tried this but without the previous installation of the remote control i doesn´t work with it.

nidgew - To get you started on the MSI remote journey you should read the sticky thread at the top of the forum called MSI Mega Series Girder plugin available.
Basically you have to get 3 things:
1. The software tool called girder. I think they have a shareware version so you can decide if you like it or not before spending $$s.

3. Get the Media Player Classic extender. This has the keyboard shortcuts for all MCE commands. Here's a link:

You have to install all the above. Read the help files... Eventually you will have the extender set up. You then have to use learn or teach mode to learn the remote codes you want to be associated with each of the MCE shortcuts. This takes some playing around to figure out how you want to map the controls to your MSI remote control unit.
I have spent quite a bit of time and made some modifications to the extender to support the mouse and a few other things. If you want I can upload my version of the extender mapped with the Mega 180 remote codes.
I'm reasonably happy with this. Although the MSI remote is quite quirky. I actually use a Sony RM3000 learning remote to send the codes instead of the MSI remote. This works much better. But it is still a little weird compared to standard remote controls. However it is $0 extra if you already own the Mega.

Need help with media center

Hi there,
I am having a porblem with windows media center for xp. Whenever I start media center my screen goes blank and I am not able to use it. The only way I can exit is by going thru the task manager and killing the media center application.

Need help with Media Players, please.

I have a mid-2007 iMac OS X 10.9.3 (Maverick) still in perfect shape, except for what I may have just messed up.
I was trying to watch a video on VeeHD and it said that I needed the VeeHD plug-in. From some research I did, I learned that the newer versions of DivX don't play well with Apple and that older versions worked better. So, I uninstalled my DivX player (and everything DivX) from my computer and installed the recommended earlier version 14. I'm still having the same problem. I use Safari as my main browser because Firefox was giving me problems with loading times and buffering.
I'm wondering what I did wrong because now, no matter what video content I try to play, I get a gray box with HTML5 in it instead of the usual "Play" button (the triangle). Once I click on HTML5, it then says FLASH and I have to click that to get the video to load. Even on YouTube. No matter what I do now, I can't get this to change back to the way it was and pages in general are taking longer to load and buffer. I tried repairing permissions. I'm afraid I may have deleted a plug-in that I shouldn't have and don't know which one.
Does anyone have any suggestions, please? I'm afraid I've put my foot in it. Also, which media players should I have or which ones are the best? Which one is the best default player? I have an updated Flash Player, Perian, VLC, Mac Media Player, DivX v.14, FLV Crunch, and Quicktime. Too many? Am I missing some? I watch videos on different sites like Firedrive, GorillaVid, BestStream, MightyUpload, YouTube, etc., I've never had any problems until I messed around with my DivX player (the only player I had trouble viewing with, until now.)
All helpful, constructive suggestions and advice will be greatly appreciated!

That's exactly what it was. I had ClickToFlash downloaded. I've had it for awhile and it didn't affect any of my video watching until I uninstalled DivX. I wonder why.
Now that I understand ClickToFlash, the only thing I like about it is that it prevents videos from playing automatically when a page is loaded. But, I uninstalled it and the loading and buffering delays went away. Thanks very much!

Need Help with Media Explo

When I go to me Zen Mircrophot Media Explorer and click Browse Media.. It shows to Music files.. They both have music in them.. But diffrent music... It has created no problem with my MP3 player, but is this a problem later? And What do I do to get rid of one of the Music icons and move all the music to one file?

Need help with Media Sync PLEASE - can't sync pictures

I just installed the newest version of desktop software, v6.0, and when i click on the buttons to sync pictures from my blackberry to my PC, it says there are no pictures available....i have dozens of pics on the device and i really want to get them off ASAP...please help

Try turning OFF Mass Storage. Is encryption still enabled for Media Files in your device?
If it is, Roxio should ask for the encryption password to allow you to access the media card.
When it does, all media should be visible...

Need help with media-print style sheets

I am trying to create a style sheet for printing only for pages on my site. I have found a lot of the same information describing how to remove unwanted items, and change colors and so forth for the items to be printed. My problem is that after the unwanted parts of the page are removed, the remaining test to be printed does not "flow" into the areas previously occupied by other elements. The printed text remains in the location on the page that it occupies on the webpage. How do I get the text to "take over" the whole page?
Below is the style definition for the text content as it is displayed on the screen:

Help with Media Encoder CS4

I just purchased Flash CS4 and I am having problems viewing my video online.

I used a mov file, created a flv file. Maybe my settings are incorrect?

Actually the process of creating an FLVPlayback and uploading to the web is the same.. the only problem you have currently is that the video is not in the same location as your fla file. when you upload the swf, the flvplayback searches for the /users/.... path on your webserver which obviously will not work. If you put the FLV/F4V during development time in the same folder as the .fla then you can just upload the swf and flv/f4v and it will work.

Help with media server

I know this isn't the appropriate forum for this but no one
seems to be able to answer my question on the media server forum,
so hopefully since this one gets more traffic someone will have an
idea. I have media server set up on one machine and on that machine
I connect to it fine using rtmp://localhost. But when I move over
to another machine on the same local network and try to connect via
rtmp://192.168.20.117 it doesn't connect. I just get
NetConnection.Connect.Failed. I've also tried
rtmp://192.168.20.117:1935 but it doesn't make a difference. I'm
not sure what else to do to get it to connect successfully.

Need help with media queries

Ok most of my attempts have been successful. BUT I have one problem.
I would like Column 1 (Site Links and Column 3 (Exclusive Articles) to Hide when the page is at max-width 500 pixels. I have no idea how to make a CSS sheet remove HTML coding, which is why I came here to ask. Important Note: Coding to remove are highlighted in Red.

every time i put a cd in my computer and click get info it says failed to receive information from music provider so im having to manually type all my albums is there something wrong or am i not doing something right.

It means that for some reason MediaSource cannot connect to Gracenote to get the CD data. Have you granted MediaSource permission to contact the Internet, assuming you're using a firewall?

Trouble with media syncing

I need help with media sync everytime I do it the music transfers sucessfully but it double everything, then if I delete the double it will delete the original so am left with no music. Then when I look in my files there is only one music file so I am very puzzled. Can someone help me, I have tried everything that I have thought of.

This is how you sync music to the iPad.
Connect the iPad to the PC and launch iTunes.
Click on the iPad name on the left side under devices.
Click on the Music Tab on the right.
Click on all of the albums or playlists that you want to sync - or the entire library if you like.
Click on the Sync Music Heading.
Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

I need help with Compressor 4 settings to convert .mp4 files to .m4v for iBooks Author

I'm a curriculum design guy with no video background. I have Compressor 4, but don't really know much about how to best use it. I'd appreciate some help with getting the right setting for my project. Screen shots of settings would be much appreciated, since I don't know much video terminology.
I'm making an free iBook for students on WWII propaganda using old videos from the Internet archive.
I'd plan to use Compressor to:
1. Convert the .mp4 files to a .m4v that iBooks Author will accept. (I know I can use QT for that, but it increases file size)
2. Use Compressor to reduce file size so my iBook doesn't get too big
3. Get videos that look & sound the best, given the poor quality of the original source videos.
