Help with importing files into elements catalog?

I recently downloaded HD home video's to my computer and when I open Pre elements 9.0 it gives me the message saying new files have been downloaded since last launch of elements organizer. Elements will now import these files into a catalog. it starts and listed the mov file but is stuck and will not respond.
Any idea's?

jsguild
What is the format of these HD home video's that you are trying to import into Elements Organizer 9?
Try importing one of them into a Premiere Elements 9.0/9.0.1 new project and determining if a copy of the video gets automatically placed in Elements Organizer 9.
More later.

• Help with importing files into Lightroom 3.2

Nothing has changed on my Mac for a year, except installing Lightroom 3 two months ago. I have had no issues importing till yesterday. Imported 300 .CR2 files, installed another card into my card reader and it will not import the files from the same camera, same shoot, done same day.
I have tried to copy the files over to my hard drive and import from there. Failed again.
I can open the files in Camera RAW and convert them to PSD files on a different drive and they still will not import from there.
Any suggestions out there/
I am begging to hate LR3 more and more and more every day.

Copy the files from your card reader or camera to your Mac then import the files into Lr. You can configure Lr to import where to a new location or leave them were they are.

• Help with importing files

Hello everyone,
FYI
[I'm running RoboHelp 5.0.2 - Flash Help. We have purchased
the Bronze help package and the support doesn't know why we are
having problems. We are using Visual Source Safe on a Windows
server]
I work for a small company that is planning to "roll-out" our
new roboHelp site within a few days. We are having trouble with
importing our .doc, pdf, and xls files. Here's what happens:
I have a topic and I go to create a text.
I highlight the text I want linked
go to "Insert hyperlink"
choose "Link to file"
Browse to my file.
When I click on Okay it ask if I want it brought inot my
project. I click yes.
I then notice that RoboHelp puts it in the baggage files (
well most of the time it does)
I save, check everything in.
When I go to v iew it in Primary layout it saids "file not
found"
Help I'm going crazy. My boss thinks I don't know what I'm
doing. :(
Thanks,
mj

Hi MJ,
Not sure exactly what the issue is with your help project,
but I have links to pdf and doc files in my project and they work.
When I click View Primary Layout, it brings up the output files
that are generated to a different location than where the working
files are. Is that how your project is set up? Because when I open
a file via a link within the output, it calls the file from the
same directory where the output files live (not from a baggage
file). Is this what you are doing as well? This process has been
working for me.

Fred

• Problem importing files into Elements 9

Apparently Photoshop Elements 9 dropped the ability to import files from the computer in the order they are on the computer. The only option is "date oldest" and "date newest". This is a problem if you are combining pictures from multiple cameras with some cameras having improperly set dates. We order tthe pictures by file name, only to have them scrambled by Elements 9 prior to uploading to Kodak. My old version (Elements 4) had this third option "file order" that apparently was dropped along the way. Does anyone know of "a work around." BTW - going to Kodak and "pulling the files using their system doesn't work because it fails to bring the label along with the upload.

Hello,
A lot has changed between Photoshop Elements 4 and 9. While "File Order" was dropped from the sort list of the Organizer Thumbnail View, it is the order method used by both the Import Batch and Folder Location Views. You can change Views by going to the Display button in the top right:

• Help with importing items into flash

OK, I have modified a flash site to accomplish everything I
would like except one item and this has me stumped. I have several
"more" buttons on my site that all go to the same frame, but insert
differnent text dependent on which "more" button is clicked
(reference
www.tlcbuildersllc.com).
Everything is imported from xml functions and files.
Here is the xml function script from one file
(xmlFunctions.as) for the "more" buttons
function more_click_func(number) {
num=_root.pagesReadMoreFrame;
currentPage=_root.link-_root.firstPageFrame;

"pageText");
_root.readMoreTitle=mainObj.section[sectionNum]["item"][titleNum].value;
_root.readMoreText=mainObj.section[sectionNum]["item"][textNum].value;
else {

_root.readMoreText=mainObj["section"][sectionNum]["page"][currentPage]["link"][linkCount] ["item"][linkTextNum].value;
_root.link=num;
_root.play();
which calls items out of another file (tfile_main.xml) with
script like this
<pageText>
LATEST PROJECTS?
</pageText>
<pageText>
12.15.2007

Latest Project

text omitted to shorten post

Then, in the flash file (main.fla), on a layer of the read
more frame, I have this script
thisTitle.htmlText=_root.readMoreTitle;
thisText.htmlText=_root.readMoreText;
_root.textSelectable(thisText);
_root.textSelectable(thisTitle);
Now I know the above script is for text boxes, but I figure a
similar layer or MC script will be needed to add unique avi files
and pics for each individual "more" button that is selected. Any
help would be appreciated, I have tried many different things and
have not been able to accomplish this task.

• Help with missing files in Elements 3

I am not a computer wizard an dI am trying to catalogue my digital photos. I have almost 2,000 photos in Photoshop elements.All the photos are in the browser and I have created folders for each holiday, wedding, graduation etc. and copied photos into them. Suddenly a lot of the photos have a red rectangle on the bottom of them with a jagged line running diagonally across them which I have now learned means that there is a missing file. I have tried to reconnect the missing file following the help program but nothing happens except the 'torch' searching for the file. I can't do anything with these photos, I can't edit them or print them of copy them to a flash drive as back up. All these photos are precious and I can still see the image in teh browser. Have I lost them?

OK I consider myself severely reprimanded!
Sorry to appear dim but all I have ever done is:
1 open photoshop elements
2. take the card out of my camera
3. put it into my computer.
4. click 'get photos'
5.save photos to my browser
6. create new folders as previously described.
Photoshop Elements toolbar has the camera to 'get photos' so that's what I did, I didn't put them anywhere else first and then copy them into there.
The photos in my browser and the copies in my folders all have the 'missing file' icon so I can't drag the folder one back into the browser it just keeps saying 'missing file'. Plus some photos I haven't copied to folders also show the same icon. Can I say goodbye to my photos or are they there somewhere but I just can't find them? I haven't deleted anything.

• Need help with moving files into Itunes and syncing

Please help.
I have an external hard drive with my music on it. I created a new playlist in Itunes and did a drag and drop from my external hard drive into my newly created playlist.
Now that I go back and play the items I brought over, I get an error that says "original files not found" and it won't play and therefore does not seem to be syncing to the Ipod to be able to play.
Can you please give me guidance as to what I can do without recreating all the work I had already done?
Thanks,
Michelle

Is the external drive connected?
Has the drive letter possibly changed due to being disconnected and reconnected?

• Is anyone else having issues with importing files into FCP X

Trying to import .mov files from older system into FCP X on a new iMac with Lion OSX. Anyone else having similar issues?

What kind of files are they?
You may open them in Quicktime Player, and do a "Get Info" on them, and post that information here.
It may be that they use some codec that FCP X can't handle.
If that is the case, use the excellent and free program MPEG Streamclip to save them to Quicktime format using the ProRes codec.

• Help with importing mp3s into iTunes

Hi, I'm running the newest version of iTunes and having problems loading mp3s into the library in correct order. I'm not sure how the mp3s i want to import are tagged, but when i import them, iTunes arranges them automatically by song name (alphabetically) and loses the track order.
1) how do i import them keeping the same track order (in future)?
2) how can i re-order the existing ones i've imported into the library already as efficiently as possible (without going into the 'get info' option and adding track numbers for each of the separate tracks (i have several thousand like this - they are mainly live concerts)?
Many thanks for any help, its much appreciated!

You don’t say quite enough to be sure if I am being helpful or how much you know, but …
Start in the library window with browse on and select an album. (Click on the little eye, upper right of screen if you don’t see the browser).
You can then use “Get info” to inspect some of your imported tracks for that album. If you click on the info tab, you should see a field for track number. If you have a correct track number in this field, you should be able to sort by track number.
If you don’t see a Track # column to sort on, you and bring it into view by right clicking on the header row (Name, Artist, Album etc) and then checking Track number.
You can sort on any column by clicking the header.
I ripped all my CDs with Free Realplayer and imported the tracks into iTunes when I got an iPod – all the track numbers were already correct.

That's clearly a security restriction then. You need to assign the JVM's user account enough rights to do so, or to configure any firewall/virusscanner which has possibly blocked it.
Apart from this, are you aware of the fact that the OS root disk is not per se labeled "C:", that the location of documents is not per se "Documents and Settings", that there exist System#getenv() and System#getProperty() methods to find default system and environment variables and that there is the java.util.prefs API to access the registry? Your application is likely not going to run on any environment.

• Help With Transferring Files into iTunes Music Folder

Last year, my computer crashed and I had no backup. I used a program called Sharepod to import all my music from my iPod onto my new computer. Now, all that tranferred music resides in C:\Program Files\Sharepod.
The songs play just fine out of iTunes, but because I'm a little OCD I'd really like them to be in the iTunes Music folder where they belong. But I've found that when I drag the songs from the Sharepod folder to the iTunes Music folder, I then have to help iTunes "locate" each song one by one. It's very tedious.
Is there a better way to do this?
Many thanks!

Yes. Once songs are in your iTunes library, do not move or rename them in Windows. If you want to get them all in one place, use the iTunes Consolidate command.

I have Nikons D7000, D60 and Elements 9. Elements 9 recognizes NEF file from D60 but not from D7000. How do I fix this problem?

I apologize for being dense here. Where do I open Full Edit and clock the menu Help Updates? I don't recognize this term in any of the D7000 menus. Do I do this in Elements 9? I don't recognize the term RAW "plug in." I am not sure what plug in you are speaking to. Thanks so much for your help and patience.

Hello there - I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling. Can't seem to figure this out. In other computers, I have imported files into the Project Assets area to "pre-edit" before adding to timeline. I can add media directly to timeline in Quick Mode, but it's too cumbersome. Really need ability to select segments of media in the Project Assets list.
Any help greatly appreciated as I spent a ton of $$ on a new computer and program!!
