Help with Installing Leopard Please

Tonight I purchased the family pack of Leopard. I attempted to install it on my Dual 533 MHz Power PC and it says I am not able to download it on this system. I am operating on version 10.3.9 and do not know how to resolve the problem. Any ideas?

A dual 533MHz PowerPC.. Is that a G3 micro-processor? I have to admit I am unfamiliar with that Mac supported micro-processor.

  • Installing Elements 11 on Mac. Need help with install error "Setup wants to make changes."

Installing Elements 11 on Mac 10.8.2. Need help with install error:  Setup wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this."  After entering Adobe password, nothing happens.  Locked from further installation.  Any ideas?  Adobe phone support could not help.

Just before letting changes (installation in this case) be made on the system, Mac OS prompts for password & this has to be the Mac system password. This password prompt is the system's own native prompt & would accept the system password only. Please make sure it is the right system password (all/admin rights) and the installaion should run.

help with installing 2 os on one hd

    RedMoose:
Congratulations on installing an upgraded HDD into your PowerBook.
I am not sure exactly what happened in the formatting process, but here are some directions that should help:
Formatting, Partitioning Zeroing a Hard Disk Drive
Warning! This procedure will destroy all data on your Hard Disk Drive. Be sure you have an up-to-date, tested backup of at least your Users folder and any third party applications you do not want to re-install before attempting this procedure.
Boot from the install CD holding down the "C" key.
    Select language
Go to the Utilities menu (Tiger) Installer menu (Panther & earlier) and launch Disk Utility.
Select your HDD (manufacturer ID) in left side bar.
Select Partition tab in main panel. (You are about to create a single partition volume.)
Select number of partition in pull-down menu above Volume diagram.
(Note: 1 partition is normally better for an internal HDD. External HDDs usually have more than one. See Dr. Smoke’s FAQ Backup and Recovery for tips on partitioning external HDD.)
Type in name in Name field (usually Macintosh HD)
Select Volume Format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
Click Partition button at bottom of panel.
    Select Erase tab
Optional: (Select the sub-volume under Manufacturer ID (usually Macintosh HD).
Check to be sure your Volume Name and Volume Format are correct.
Select on Security Options button (Tiger) Options button (Panther & earlier).
Select Zero all data. (This process will map out bad blocks on your HDD. However, it could take several hours. If you want a quicker method, don't go to Security Options and just click the Erase button.)
    Click OK.
    Click Erase button
    Quit Disk Utility.
Open installer and begin installation process.
Please post back with further questions, comments or an update.
    Good luck.

  • Help with installing 10.6.3

Hello, I'm looking for a bit of help with installing Mac OS X 10.6.3 without screwing up.
I currently have a Macbook with 10.6.3 on it, and I want to COMPLETELY reset my Mac. I want to have a pretty much brand new Mac with 10.6.3, which I have the disk for. I actually just updated from 10.5.8, hoping that it would erase my hard drive and re-install, but it didn't. So I would like help with how to completely reset my Mac, and re-install 10.6.3.
    Thanks in advance!
    ~Dan

Use that disk, but after booting from it and before running the install, choose Disk Utility from the Utilities menu and erase the drive.

  • Help with access control please

So I'm trying to set up my brother's PSP to the wirless network through MAC address timed access. What I want to do is make it so that he can only access it through certain times in the day. I'm having troubles with actually getting it to work. Everytime I set it up, the PSP only show's up as a DHCP client and not a Wireless client. I tried the option panel with the add wireless clients through the first try access. Could I get some help with this issue please? Thanks!

Just to calm your fears... There is no conspiracy. If someone had an answer or a suggestion they would post it.

  • Please help - finally installed Leopard and can't login

Okay, so I finally stepped into Y2K and joined the rest of the world (albeit a bit late) in installing Leopard on my laptop. However, when I get to the screen where it asks for name and password, I don't know what to enter and no matter what I try I keep getting the annoying little shaky thing when I do it wrong, time after time.
I have never had a user id or password, so I don't know what to do here. I am not very tech savy, so please have patience with me. I know that when I used to try to install software, or download an update in 10.3, I was prompted for a password. Is that what they are looking for here? Or are they asking for something completely different? I don't even know what to put as my user name either.
I have scoured the forums and support sites reading about people with similar issues (from 2 years ago... I know)and they keep directing me to different sites. I have tried everything, and nothing seems to work.
First I tried this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1400?viewlocale=en_US
But I got a message saying that my password change would affect my keychain, but not my login (which does me no good if I can't log in!)
Then I tried this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1543?viewlocale=en_US
But as I was typing the part (dscl . -delete /Users/username AuthenticationAuthority), I was getting an error that said something like "NoNode..." or something like that. So I couldn't get this to work either.
My computer says my name (Erik Lundeen) on the startup screen, but I think my profile name is simply "erik". I have tried both of these as options to log in, as well as my password (the one I used to get asked for in 10.3 when I would install or update something)... which is simply and originally "mypass". But that doesn't work either.
I know this is very late in the game, but if somebody has any ideas or suggestions for how to get past this and back into my computer, I would GREATLY appreciate it!

yes, you did. every user has an id and a password. the password may be empty but it's there.

this is the correct link to use.

no, that's wrong. it's the other way around. it will change your login password but not your keychain password so you won't have access to your old saved passwords unless you can recall what your old password was. use the link above.

  • Help with installing CS2 in Snow Leopard

Can anyone help me with installing CS2 on a MacBook running OSX Snow Leopard? I have trouble with activating the product and get a splach screen with a monkey element or  logo rather than the adobe logos... confusion reigns!

Hi Rory, be aware that running CS2 products on Snow Leopard isn't going to be a supported combination. Here's a related thread: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/499253. Apparently some customers have been able to run CS2 software on Snow Leopard. You can also check with our chat support at http://adobe.ly/v6wfLL. However, I can't be certain that they'll be able to assist you. You might want to consider upgrading.

  • Replacing the HDD and installing leopard (PLEASE HELP)!!!

    hi there,
i currently have a macbook that has just gone out of warranty. i bought a new HDD from WD, installed tiger (using the original discs that come with the mac) and then installed leopard. it seemed to be working fine (apart from a few keyboard buttons playing up), until less than 2 weeks of doing this, the hard drive crashed out on me. i was absolutely gutted! mainly due to the fact a lot of the files i copied over and new ones had gone. i put in the original HDD (which i left as it was) and it worked as normal. i have now received a new HDD from WD and am about to install it along with 2 x 1GB RAM sticks.
i have no problems installing the HDD again or the RAM. the only concerns are, when selecting the new HDD when previously installing it, i lost out on about 30GB of memory (10GB after formatting, 15GB after installing tiger & 5GB after installing leopard). that's about a quarter of my HDD gone. i would have installed leopard clean but i wanted ilife '06 that came with tiger.
is there a way to install leopard clean and then install just ilife '06 by itself from the installation discs, so i can save some space on the new HDD?
if anyone can help i would be so grateful, thanks, ravi.

Install Leopard by itself. Do not install Tiger. When you do your Leopard install watch the lower left corner of the install screen and when you see custom click it. That way you can choose not to include all the printer drivers and language files. That will knock off a few gig.
Once Leopard is running insert your 1st install disk. Once it opens choose the install bundled software choice. Once it is open you can do a custom install and put just what you want back on your MacBook. That way you don't get all the extras.

  • Need help with screen zoom please

I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I had the old Tiger software installed, I was able to zoom in and out on my screen by holding down the Control key while scrolling with my mouse. But since I installed Leopard (not Snow Leopard, since I am using a G5 Tower PowerPC), this key combination no longer works. This former screen zoom feature is important to me because I am a graphic designer with a neurological condition (tremors in my hands) that makes selecting fine points in graphic applications (like Illustrator) difficult unless I zoom in to make selection points larger and more manageable. Note: using Illustrator's magnifying glass feature does not help me, because the select points still stay small when I magnify and image, but using the old screen zoom method made the points larger and easier for me to select. Can anyone help me?
F.Y.I. I also updated my trackball drivers as well, but my trackball preference settings did not change.

Thanks for your input. I hear what you are saying. I have found a couple of applications that worked better with my old Tiger system than with Leopard. When I contacted the developers of these mis-behaving apps, I learned that while Intel machines seem to have no problem with their app's Leopard updates, they do report problems with those of us who still use our old big honking tower PPC's. Maybe that is what I am experiencing here.

  • Need help with installing old version of firmware

I would like to revert to an old version of firmware for my Airport Extreme base station. I have read in a number of postings that this would possibly help with the problem of my Canon Pixma ip3000 not working after the firmware was usdated. When I tried to install the old firmware, the Installer would not allow it, there was just a message that the software was up to date. Could anyone please give a step by step description of how this can be done? Is there a way around the Installer? Thanks.

The firmware supplied with the base station was 4.1. After installing it, everything worked just fine, including wireless printing to a Canon Pixma ip3000. At one point, after being prompted by a message onscreen to upgrade to 4.2, I did the download and installation, and that is when all the problems started. No wireless printing, and I can't seem to use the Airport Admin or Assistant (not responding). Since then I have also upgraded the OS to 10.4.5.
I am trying to downgrade to 4.1 since that is what worked initially and what was suggested in another posting I read.
I did look at the information for the various parts of Airport and noticed that the Setup Asistant is 4.2, the Admin Utility is 4.2 and the base station is 5.5.1. Could this be affecting the problem as well?
I will try downgrading using the link you provided. Thanks very much.

  • Help with installing a program

I hope someone can help me with this problem. I have a late 08 model Macbook Pro with Snow Leopard 10.6.7 installed. I just bought a new CAD program, actually from 05, but still factory sealed, and I cannot install it. I then learned from the seller that it is a program for PowerPC and I would need to use Rosetta to install it. I have researched installing with Rosetta and after booting the disc up, selected "get info", but no option for "install with Rosetta" appears. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Installing After Upgrade
If you find out after your Snow Leopard upgrade that you need Rosetta, no problem. Mac OS X will let you know, and it will handle the Rosetta installation for you, too.
Snow Leopard can add Rosetta even after installation.
If Rosetta isn't already installed when you try to launch a PowerPC-based application, Snow Leopard will display a dialog asking if you want to install Rosetta. Clicking Not Now stops the installation process, and your application won't launch. Clicking Install downloads and installs Rosetta from Apple's servers so your app can properly launch.
