Do I HAVE TO enter my 4 digit code every time I use my iPhone? Just updated to iOS 7

iOS 7 asks you to create a passcode during setup. It gives you the option to continue without one but it is not prominently displayed.
Most people miss it and add one, which I assume is by design to make it more secure.

Need help with IOS commands to see wireless printer

Seems that I'm not asking the question correctly, or providing the right information.
The problem:
I've purchased a wireless printer, (an HP 6500a) and I can not see / ping / use the printer on the wireless network.
Environment:
Cisco 891 ISR in standalone. Single office - Home-office environment. Nothing spectacular. WLAN connected and operational to the internet.
The printer is configured to use a static IP of 10.0.0.3 and reports that it is connected to the AP. However, when I ping FROM the command line at the AP, I DO NOT see the printer. (I did previously, but we lost power last night due to a storm and I'm still trying to reconfigure it...) DHCP is configured on the router to exclude the range 10.0.0.1 through 10.0.0.99
How do I configure the wireless router to allow any connected client to share files / printers etc? Seems that the Cisco router has this shut off
by default and I've found nothing in the user manual or by asking for help on here how to reverse this so that I can share printers / files on the LAN.
Please, I'm not stupid, but I'm only casually familiar with IOS and Cisco's networking terms.

Wireless clients can get on w/o issue. Nobody can ping anyone else or see them.
No file sharing, no printer.
Tried using the web-based config which works for some items, but wont access the advanced config.
I'm on my way into town, so can't post the router config, but it is posted in my earlier question

Help with iOS 7 please

With iOS 7 how does one shut down the apps when done with them? Used to hit the home button twice then hold finger on icons until the minus sign appeared then tap them and voila...... Doesn't appear to work that way now.

Double tap the home button and swipe upwards on the preview of the App (not the App Icon).

Please help with iOS 7.1.1 and iPad Mini

We loved our iPad mini until we accepted the upgrade to iOS 7. Since upgrading and now most recently to 7.1.1, the applications are jerky -- games are not usable -- and there seems to be a 'phantom' touching controls when we're not. Is there anyway to downgrade? Is there some setting/feature in 7.x we can shut off that's interfering with the interface?
Very sad Apple doesn't take Quality Control more seriously -- we pay a premium price for their products. Thinking about maybe getting the Nokia Windows tablet.

You can't downgrade iOS levels.
Your problem may not be related to iOS 7 or 7.1.1.
I haven't seen the sort of problems that you are reporting on my iPad.
The "phantom touching" touching sounds like your iPad may have developed a hardware problem with the touch screen. If you are using a screen protector remove it to see if that helps. If the problem persists contact Apple Support or visit an Apple store for an evaluation.

NEED HELP WITH IOS 6 UPDATE!!! PLEASE.

I have an 8GB iPhone. The iOS 6 update says that I need 2.4GB available to update. I deleted all of my apps, 200 pictures out of 400 plus videos. It says only 5.1GB are used but it won't let me update the iOS 6. Help me please?

You need iTunes 10.5 on your computer in order to update to the current iOS 5 version - and you need to download the update via your computer and then update via your computer's iTunes, you can't download and update directly on the iPad (though future updates should be possible that way after you've got iOS 5 installed).
If you are on iTunes 10.5, then with your iPad connected to it and selected on its left-hand side, what happens when you click on Check For Updates button on the Summary tab on the right-hand side of iTunes ?
This post has the direct download links for iOS 5 - if you want a lower version then they are on this page. When you've downloaded the update then on Windows press and hold the shift key when clicking the Check For Updates button which should let you navigate to the downloaded file. Make sure that you copy your purchases off the iPad first (File > Transfer Purchases when connected to your computer's iTunes), backup the device (right-click the 'device' and select 'back up'), and copy off any important documents, file, notes etc (e.g. by email, the file sharing section at the bottom of the Apps tab in iTunes, wifi, whatever the apps that you use support) - the update process should backup and restore the content but it's best to be safe

Ok, on my ipad, the notifacation center says the weather is going to be 13 degrees celceuis, I am wanting to use the American metric units, which is Fahrenheit, how do I fix it, it says yahoo provides weather info! I taped on it, it led me to the internet, it said on yahoos website that it is 88 degrees Fahrenheit, but it won't show up on my ipad notifaction center, how do I fix it?? Need help

Ran iOS 7 update from my Laptop through iTunes onto my iPhone 4S. Message on laptop told me installation was successful. Now my phone has the apple logo in the middle of the screen with a status bar which has not moved for the last 2hours. Any ideas?

Need help with ios 8 icloud issue

I just updated to iOS 8 and want to utilize family sharing with my kids. Previously I had to logon to their devices with my own apple ID in order to share content. I want to give them their own ID's and utilize the "authorize to buy" option, but when I created and signed into my daughter's phone with her new apple ID, iCloud keeps my ID and password associated with the device and allows her to approve her own purchases. How do I disassociate her icloud with my account and input hers on her phone without a full factory reset? I have already signed out of the itunes and app store on the phone and signed back in as her. I have done the same for imessage and facetime, yet under icloud it still shows my account and will not allow me to make changes there.

Where did you sign her new Apple ID on? Did you delete your iCloud account? Settings>iCloud, scroll down to the bottom of the screen and tap on Sign Out. Type in your password when asked, and follow the prompts to delete the account. Then sign on with her Apple/iCloud ID.

Help with iOS 7 Calendar

I'm really struggling with the new calendar in iOS 7 on my iPad Retina. How do you move from month view directly into the view of a day. Say I pull up December 2013 in month view and I quickly want to access December 25th, 2013, how would I do that? It seems like I should be able to click on the day and it would take me directly to it, but that doesn't work.
Am I missing something?

No you are not missing it. You switch to Day view and scroll sideway to the day. I too feel you should be able to go direct.

Help with iOS 8.0.2 update

I had updated my iPad to the iOS 8.0.2 and now the update to it will not load. It freezes on the agree page?? OR how can I go back to iOS 7?? what has apple done?????

It sounds as if your iPad is becoming unresponsive when it gets to the Terms of Service page that you must agree to in order to continue with the installation. I would suggest that you restart the iPad -
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Help with ios LDAP setup for VPN access

I am trying to move Microsoft LDAP for my vpn setup to an ISR router with 15.1 code . It has support but very little doccumentation. Anyone configured this before? i need some help or basic config.

Ldap authentication started from 7.1 if I recall correctly along with LDAP mapping which helps you validate whether the user has the dial in attribute on or of. I would say starting from 7.1 till the latest 8.X version.
Version 6.X does not have this feature.

Need help with IOS 4 update

I've tried 3 times to update my Iphone and I usually just get tired of waiting and give up. The box that says "Backing up Iphone" only gets 2/3 of the way through. I can't figure out what to do to make it finish. I never get any farther than this. Please help!

Do you have a lot of photos on your phone? If so, import them & delete same from your camera roll. Next, delete your existing backup(it may be corrupted): Under preferences(under the edit menu if using windows), Devices, delete your existing backup. Try again. Make sure your internet connection is good & disable or turn off ALL anti-virus & firewalls.
