Help... With iPad 3rd gen.
I have an issue... Ever since I purchased my iPad 3rd gen. in April, I have had a speck of dust under the screen. Ever since, I have wanted to get an exchange... But never got a chance to do because I live about 3 hours away from the nearest apple store... Is dust under screen covered in the warranty? Do you think they would still exchange it for another one? My question came up because the 4th gen iPad came out this week.

I have a problem with my Ipad where I'm unable to scroll across a video. For instance if im playing a video on youtube or iplayer, I'm unable to forward the video. I have restored the ipad through Itunes but has not resolved the issue. Any ideas why this is happening?
For the issue with Messages, try this. Settings>Messages>Show Subject Field>Off. Then try typing and sending a message.
Did you restore as new? You didn't say if you did or not? I don't think this is going to help with the video scrubbing but it doesn't hurt anything. Reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up. -
Music missing artwork after syncing with iPad 3rd Gen
All the music on my MBP has artwork with them. Whenever I copy music from my MBP to my iPad 3, only 10% of the artwork shows up on my iPad. Anyone ideas why this is happening or how to correct it? Kinda ugly looking at music and only a handful of songs have artwork for them. I spent A LOT of time getting all the artwork for them so it's kinda annoying this is happening. I've done the "Get Album Artwork" bit already on my iPad however that doesn't work at all. Any ideas.
AHA! Solution!
At the bottom of the Music screen in the ipad (3rd gen) there are a set of buttons named store, playlists, songs, artists, albums, and more. Press the more button, then select shared, then select your computer in shared (I am sure home sharing must be on). All of the album art showed up immediately.
Oops, No solution... only the homesharing screen, albums in ipad not affected. -
Problems with iPad 3rd gen charging in car
I have a 2xUSB 2.1amp car/cigarette charger. My 1st gen iPad mini charges perfectly using it, but my 3rd gen iPad will only trickle charge.
Is this simply due to the 3rd gen iPad battery being power hungry? Would getting a 12w car charger work? (I'm unsure what wattage my current charger is)
The iPad charges fine with regular wall plug chargers. It is running iOS 8.1.2
Any background / advice would be very gratefully received. I've read that doing a factory reset may resolve the issue - is that true?
I'm loathe to go and spend more money on car chargers if the issue is with the iPad battery itself.
Thank you.The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.

It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Bluetooth keyboard mapping issues with iPad (3rd gen) after iOS 6.1.2 upgrade
Others may have figured this out more readily than I did, but since I did not find a post on this topic, I decided I would provide this information.
After upgrading my iPad "3" to iOS 6.1.2, my bluetooth keyboard mapping was a bit off. Hitting most keys provided the desired result but not all.
Typing \ would result in ] for example. Typing shift + 2 would result in " rather than the expected (and marked) @.
To fix this I tried turning Bluetooth off and on, etc. No joy.
FinaIly, I went into "Settings," selected "Bluetooth," selected "Apple Wireless Keyboard," clicked on "Forget this Device."
I then powered off the iPad and the bluetooth keyboard. Next, I powered on the iPad and keyboard and went back into "Settings" where I paired the keyboard with the iPad again. Everything then worked as desired.
It's possible, that you may not need to go to the trouble of powering off and on the iPad and the keyboard. Simply "forgetting" the device and then pairing the keyboard with the iPad again may suffice.Using the battery level meter in this manner is comparable to using your car's fuel gauge to calculate miles per gallon. The only thing that matters is the total amount of operating time from full charge to auto-shutdown.
Use the wall-mount charger that came with the iPad and charge overnight. Admittedly the labeling is hard to read but, if you use a magnifier and squint your eyes, you'll see "Output 5.1V, 2.1A." The symbol between volts and amps is the symbol for DC. Do NOT use an iPhone charger. Do NOT use an iPod charger. Do NOT use a computer's USB port. Then, operate it normally until auto shut-down (ignore any low level alerts that may appear). An irony is that doing that test to determine the total operating time is also the exact procedure necessary to calibrate the battery level meter.
I'm not claiming that you do not have a problem. I am stating, however, that we don't yet know whether or not a battery problem exists.

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).
Elsewhere, Apple elaborates and explains that two half-discharges (or four quarter-discharges, etc.) equals one full discharge. -
Please help with my 3rd gene ipod
i bought an ipod from ebay and told it was fully functional but when i try to listen to music it does not allow me to listen to it and then it freezes for no reason and also when i try to put in my wifi password it freezes as well what should i do?

- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
If still problem that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order. -
Help with ipod 3rd gen and itunes
I want to remove the music from i tunes but when I do that it gets removed from the i-pod. The reason I want to remove it is because my computer is very very slow and when I add music it gets slower. So is it possible to remove the music from the i tunes list and it doesn't get removed from my i-pod? Thanks!
my advice would be, get rid of itunes cause it slows down your computer alot, and use another program like winamp or media monkey. where do you get your music from?

Anybody having trouble with iPad 3rd Gen and AirPlay? I can connect, mirror, and then it freezes. They are on the same wifi network.
Welcome to the Apple community.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment. -
i bought an new ipad 3rd gen 16 gb wifi cellular in may 2012. I hv a unique problem wherein the screen of ipad is not as smooth as what is general experience. Its not buggy but lacks smoothness and finger doesnot glide as smoothly .Can anybody help.
Do you clean your iPad screen? Do not use standard window cleaners, with ammonia or alcohol, like Windex, but a damp towel, followed by a micro-fibre cloth is recommended. There are also cleaners you can buy which are specifically designed for iPad/iPhone devices, such as iClean from Monster.

I bought an apple tv for its ability to mirror any of the content on my new ipad 3rd gen. Now after updating my apple tv i seem to have lost the ability to mirror my tablet onto the screen. Can somebody help with this. I have tried to do everything. I made sure both my apple tv and my ipad are connected to the same network. I also made shure my bluetooth was off. I can still airplay with my brothers iphone 4s. ( ios5.1) but i cannot do the same with my tablet.

You must be a newbie, because otherwise you would have fixed it. I don't have that mirroring problem and it must be because you are not looking around and inform yourself thoroughly. It took me also 2 days of grief before I found out how to do it. Not even to mention that the Apple Engineer that I called did not have a solution either and just suggested that I should send my Apple TV back or go to a Apple Store nearby.
I was pretty annoyed about that such a little black box was giving me grief. I have been working in the IT industry for over 30 years and I know quite a bit inside out about many hardware's. But my opinion is that sending out Version 6.0 Aka 5.1 as you rightfully say is not on with me.
This is the same behaviour that Apple now does as Microsoft forever is doing. Not finishing the products and putting it on the market or release it before it is finished and has bugs in it.
Personally this irks me and annoys me. Because I am in that field for many years and have seen what grief it causes. I have noticed that an Administrator has removed another post that I made about other matters concerning iPads and especially with iPad 3 and 4 now and that there are also other people who make inflamatory remarks to people ( Julian Wright for e.g.) about how they have to spend their money for the latest stuff of Apple and come over very aggressive, selfish, if not evil.
For your information, I used to work for Apple, I know Apple inside and how they work and what they used to do ? They were really nice for their employees and customers. But I think that has changed now for whatever reason they have. Very disappointing. It's up to Apple not to listen, I have no control of that, but it will cost them at some point.
Besides that point, I feel that some people are been taken for a ride and when I am expressing that this is not OK I should be rewarded for that instead of being rejected. -

thanksI am having same issue on my iPhone 5s. Whenever i am trying login to iCloud from my device setting it's asking for apple id password & every time showing incorrect password verification failed but in fact the password is correct.
When trying to restore my iPhone from my PC iTunes backup it's asking to turn off Find my iPhone from the device iCloud setting. When i am going to turn it off from device iCloud setting it's asking for apple id password then a notification showing "verification failed, the connection to iCloud timed out.
I never faced this on any other iOS version other than iOS 8/8.0.2

An iPad and iPhone cannot connect via Bluetooth unless you are trying to use a Personal Hotspot feature on your iPhone or have one of the few third-party apps that allow limited file transfer or device-to-device gaming. Unless you're attempting one of these, then any previous "pairing" was probably illusory. If you are trying to use such a thing, tell us which one and someone may be able to provide suggestions.

Ipad 3rd gen kept shutting off. Had to restart and log back on to internet with password. backed up and did restore.
could not complete. Took to Genius bar and they could not either. Said we trade with $299 for another one.is there
someplace to get these things repaired. It was 4 months out of warranty.Yet another quick follow up to something I have stumbled upon with this issue. If I connect to my Airport Extreme on the 5Ghz channel, Dictation continues to have issues. However, when I switched to the 2.4Ghz channel dictation has been working great now for a while.
The dictation option is still missing under General>Settings>Keyboard however.
Not sure at all what one would have to do with the other? but hey, if it's working then I'm going with it for now. :-) -
I can't turn on my ipad 3rd gen after upgrading to ios 7.0.2
my ipad 3rd gen run good using ios 6.XX then last sept i just found an update from my ipad and tries to update with good connection of internet. after upgrading it restarts and a few minutes of using with FB it reboot it self and i can't even turn-it-on, the following day i tried to turn it on but i experince a blue blinking screen for 20 to 30seconds then shut it self. i was scared so i haven't done anything to my ipad. i went to an authorized service provider "Power Mac" @ Festival Mall Alabang Muntinlupa City, Philippines to see if they can do anything about my ipad. but then, after 2-3days of wait thing, the service provider email me that the problem is on display hardware. they are not authorized to open a non-screw unit of an apple so they emailed me that is stated below. i try to set an apointmet call from apple singapore support/customer service but the day and time passed-by apple singapore doesn't call.. why do i have to pay for the said amount if i haven't done wrong to my unit? is it a customer's fault that i found and try its' recomendation to upgrade its' ios?

Turn your iPad off and on and than you should see the Radio button again. It won't work if you are logged on with a foreign account. If you are not logged in at all, it worked, too.

Well, i just bought an Ipad 3rd gen (my first Apple product) and i'm trying to sync it with itunes (USB).
I have Windows 7 64 bits with the lastest Itunes available. When i plug the Ipad, it shows correctly in Itunes.
However, when i'm trying to sync pictures or music, Itunes says everything is ok but there's nothing on my Ipad afterall.
When i'm trying to sync apps downloaded with Itunes, it says that this app cannot be synchronized
Tried USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ... same problem
Does anybody knows anything about issues with USB ? (maybe somekind of controlers are not well supported)

Thansk in advanceMight want to try and restore the device and see what happens. Also are you connected to iCloud which backs up all your files? If so might want to try and toggle with that. As for the music n stuff, is iTunes actually showing anything being synced on the top bar (Where is shows the syncing status of your device)?. If nothing seems to be done, or the process is completed very quickly, you might not have selected anything in the toption of iTunes.
Not sure how much i helped, but hope you can get it up and running!
