HELP WITH IPOD AND ITUNES MUSIC

for a reason unknown my music in itunes has been wiped! just dissapeared.  the music is still on my ipod, the only music i get from my ipod back onto itunes are recent purchases. does anyone know how i can get music from my ipod back onto my itunes?? thank you.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you have failed to maintaina  abckup, not good, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>Transfer Purchases or you can redownload some itunes purchases in som countries:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Help with Ipod and Itunes...

I have an ipod nano and have been using it successfully until tonight...I plugged it in to the USB port of my computer to upload some new songs and the ipod shows up as E:\ instead of "my ipod". It also says that I've used more space than I actually have. Any ideas on what I should do? Just FYI, I have already restarted my computer(twice), restarted the ipod, restarted itunes, tried using a different usb port, etc. Any other ideas on whats wrong?!?!

hmmm. is it showing up like that in your itunes sourcelist?
if so, it's probably worth checking on this possibility:
Windows confuses iPod with network drive and may keep iPod from mounting or songs may seem to disappear

  • Help with ipod and computer shut downs...please.

I've posted this in two other forums to no avail -- lots of views, but no help.
My family now has 3 ipods (we only had 1 before) and yesterday I was trying to get them all set up - updates on the actual ipod, and I've updated itunes to 7.5. There are two issues here:
    1) I am not able to register ANY of the ipods. I get all the way through the process to the very end and then it gives me an error message (after clicking the "No thanks" at the bottom of the page that asks if you want to download the videos) saying that the service couldn't be found? Or something like that. Ok, fine...I can handle not being able to register them for the time being.
    2) I could keep itunes on all day long, as long as the Ipod is NOT CONNECTED. As soon as I connect the ipod (any of the 3 new ones - they all do the same thing) - ok, maybe not as soon as, but shortly thereafter - my entire computer shuts down. No error message, no blue screen of death, no warning - it just shuts down. It might be after I move a song from the "purchased" folder to the actual ipod. Or, as happened yesterday, it's right smack in the middle of a download (happened with both videos AND songs) and then of course, I have to try and purchase it again. I'm not even sure if it took my money already, but if it did, I'm SOL because I paid, but don't have the video/song since it never finished downloading.
I've done everything that's been recommended to me - I disabled all my start up programs (except the windows ones) and that didn't resolve anything.
    My system is as follows:
Windows XP Home Edition (all updated except for microsoft office 2003)
    Service Pack 2
    AMD Athalon 64 3000+
    1.81 GHz
    2GB RAM
Not sure what else you need to know, to try and help me resolve this. Thanks for your time.

i am SOOOOOOO frustrated. someone please shed some light on this.
    baby doll

  • Problem with IPod and Itunes

    Hi
Can anyone please help me I installed Itunes latest version and updated the old version on the PC. Now when I connect my ipod it showsin the side bar of itunes only to give a message saying it is in recovery mode and I need to restore factory settings. After having done this reluctantly - it is supposed to then be visible after the ipod has rebooted in itunes - it isn't and if I connect again says the same thing about recovery mode. I now have an ipod that effectively has nothing on it and I cannot use has any had the same problem or got any ideas?
    Many Thanks
    Karen

Have you had a chance to look at this troubleshooting page? If not, have a look at the bottom section that covers what to try if the message keeps reappearing: iTunes has detected an iPod in recovery mode - Use iTunes to restore
Towards the end it says "If after restoring your iPod, the message described above reappears, the iPod drive letter may need to be reassigned. See the "Change the Drive Letter" section of this document for steps to assign a different drive letter" which contains a link to this article: Windows confuses iPod with network drive and iTunes may exhibit strange behavior in relation to the iPod.

  • Trouble with iPod and iTunes update

alright, I put another post on this board about the problem, but no responses really helped. I also went way back and read many other posts, and have yet to find anything that relates to my problem. I also searched through google, and found nothing. There are many things that are similar but don't cure my problem. Everytime that I plug my iPod into my computer to update it, a message pops up saying, "Attempting to copy to the disk 'M@'s IPOD' failed. An unknown error occurred (-69)." I have seen error messages that have a (-36) or a (-50), or something like that, but never any that have a (-69). Sometimes a few songs will actually update, but most of the time, none do before this error message pops up. Also, whenever I plug it in and it starts to try the update, the iPod begins making a small buzzing sound; this seems odd to me. I have uninstalled and removed iTunes from my computer and reloaded it, updated the iPod multiple times, I have done all of the famed "5 R's", but nothing has yet fixed this problem. I honestly have no idea what to do and have been spending hours over the past few days trying to fix it, but nothing is working. Please somebody help me with this, because I fear my iPod may just be broken. It is a click-wheel 20GB that I've had for about a year and a half. Someone please try to help with this one...Thanks

I'm doing the HDD scan right now, but its taking quite a while (nearly an hour) and is still "scanning". Am I doing something wrong, or is the HDD scan just supposed to take this long? And thank you for providing that link...it seems that it may provide some help, but I am still confused as of this point.

  • HT1689 help with getting my itunes music onto my iphone

I have an iPhone 4s and an iPod 4th gen. I have music downloaded in iTunes but when I sync my phone I can't find the music on it.

You can only download a track from the iTunes Music Store one time. If you want to have the track on a different computer, you have to copy it there yourself. See:
iTunes: How to copy music between authorized computers
Though it refers to iTMS purchased music, it applies to all your tracks. And if you happen to also own an iPod:

  • Video Playback issues with Ipod and Itunes

OK I just bought some episodes of a TV show last night, and I put them on my ipod(5th gen. 30GB). About halfway-sometimes 2/3-of the way through, the video stops playing, no audio, no movement, just stops like it is paused. I deleted them off my ipod, made sure my ipod was up to date, and put them back on. Problems still there. Then i went to watch them in Itunes, and in the same places they freeze again. Itunes is up to date too.So now i have these videos that i paid for, that don't work completely on either my Ipod nor on Itunes. Help Please?

the good news is that you have pretty much isolated the issue. if the videos don't play completely on either the ipod or itunes, then the videos or tv shows are possibly corrupted. what you can do is contact the itunes store via a web form ( click here to go to form and scroll to the bottom)
tell the itunes store your tv shows have playback issues and say the same thing you posted. the itunes store should allow you to re-download the tv shows.

  • Need help with ipod and changing the name

    Adele

  • Pse help with syncing and nonpurchased music from itunes to iphone using icloud

Pse excuse myself for being such a noob. I am trying to sync music from which i have ripped from cd's to itunes using icloud. When i go into the purchased section there is no music to sync obviously as i havent purchased any music only ripped cd's. I beleive that this is where the music has to go to in terms of syncing to iphone. Is this correct or am i way off pse help guys.

it says that I gotta reset my iPhone to Factory Settings. Which means I will lose all my apps, contacts and stuff.
Why would you lose anything? Your contacts will be in whatever desktop program you have chosen to sync your contacts with, your Apps should be in your iTunes Library, and everything else should be on your computer too (assuming you've been syncing/backing up as designed).
Are you trying to sync music from a different computer than you normally use?

  • IPad 2 help with iMovie and iTunes

Hello all and thank you for reading.  I'm not a stranger to apple products, owing most of the iPhone's and apple tv since their debut some years ago.  Recently I bought the ipad 2 and it has been one issue after another.  I'll start with the main issue.  Upon buying my iPad 2, like others I did a sync with iTunes to add content to my iPad.  Through the sync process iTunes would crash every time during the syncing of photos portion.  After awhile I discovered the issue.  When iTunes tried to sync video made with my iPhone 4 into photos on the iPad 2 it would crash.  The iphone keeps video it records in the photo section automatically as it doesn't have a video section like the ipad 2.  Once I reorganized all pictures in to separate folders and playing process of elimination I discovered this issue.  With the video recorded with the iPhone 4 removed from the picture folder in iTunes the sync went through with no issue.  Next, when I organized the videos taken out of photos and added them to iTunes they where put into the movies section.  Not an issue for me.  So I now have the videos and pictures I want on my iPad.  Recently on a trip to Disney I recorded several videos and wanted to edit them using iMovie on my iPad. I took the videos from the iPhone 4, placed them in the video folder I created on my laptop separate from the pictures and then added the videos to iTunes.  They were placed under video on my iPad 2 just like it has been.  Next I bought iMovie and planned to go to work editing.  I was wrong, IMovie will not find the videos on my iPad. The videos are indeed on the iPad as I've watched them all but when adding a project to iMovie the video tab remains empty.  I've tried everything to get iMovie to see the videos and nothing works.  I feel like I waisted 5.00 for the app since it can't even recognize movies made with my iPhone 4.  If anyone can explain to me what I'm doing wrong and help me to fix this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

Check out this video (not mine) that explains how to convert the video files and how to copy them to iPad 2 so that iMovie can find them.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gYxxMO9ylk
I'm having another problem after upgrading to iTunes 10.4.1, it crashes when copying video files. If you're using a PC for iTunes, DO NOT UPGRADE iTUNES until this is fixed. Unfortunately I upgraded in the middle of a project that I now I'm stuck. My iPad 2 and iMovie app might as well be a brick. Way to go, Apple!

  • When trying to sync my iPod and itunes music a message comes up and says " The iPod (My name) iPod" cannot be synced because it cannot be found.

    Help me please.

    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.
    - Reboot the computer
    - Try another USB port
    - Try another cable
