Help with ipod software cd
I just got a new computer and, after downloading and installing itunes, was about to install my ipod software when I realized I had lost my ipod software CD. Ive searched the apple site for a way to either get a new CD or download the software. does anyone know of a way that I can get a new CD or where I can download the software?
PC Windows XP
If you've already installed iTunes 7 you don't need to worry about anything else. The iPod Updater is integrated with iTunes, so you only need to worry about one application now.

Help with iPod software??
I've loaded and unloaded the software to my new 30GB about four times. It will not finish loading once I restart the puter. I'm not sure if it's me or the puter or the software. If I look in the programs the iPod updater is there but the minute I connect the pod to the USB port it sayd: usb not compatable or some thing like that.
ANY HELP!! this is very frustrating!!!!!
emti8Try plugging it into another USB port, in the rear of the computer. Not all USB ports supply enough voltage for the unit.

I think I need help with driver (software) settings for D110a
I think I need help with driver (software) settings for D110a all-in-one
Product: D110a all-in-one
OS: Windows XP Professional
Error messages: None
Changes before problem appeared: None--new installation
The quality of photo images (mostly JPG files) in printouts is awful even though the files display beautifully on the PC screen. I am using
IrfanView software for displaying/printing. As far as I can tell, IrfanView is not the problem.
When I print the same images on a Deskjet 5150 attached to a different PC also running XP Pro and IrfanView, the quality of the printouts is at
least acceptable, Some would probably say good or very good.
It's dificult to explain in words the problem with the printouts. A picture of really pretty vegetables (squashes, tomatoes, watermelon, etc) comes
out much too red. Moreover, the red, which appears shaded on the screen, seems to be all one shade in the D110a printouts.
Something similar happens to a view of a huge tree in full leaf. On screen, there are subtle variations in the "greenness" of the leaves. In the
printout, all green is the same shade. In the same printout, the trunk of the tree is all a single shade of grey. It isn;t even obvious that the
trunk is a round, solid object.
I liken the effect to audio that disappears entirely when you lower the volume and gets clipped into square waves in even moderately loud passages.
I don't know whether the D110a driver software permits adjusting the parameters that appear to be set incorrectly, and if adjustments are possible,
how I would identify which parameters to adjust, how I would access them, or how I would adjust them. I'm hoping that someone can help. Thanks.
I forgot to mention that I have used the diagnostic application and it tells me that there are no problems.

Hi everyone,
I noticed the following message when network starts on my gateway
Warning: This functionality is deprecated.
Please refer to /etc/rc.conf on how to define a single wired
connection, or use a utility such as netcfg.
Then I realized the way network settings should be written in rc.conf has changed. But I can't figure out how this should be done.
Currently, my set up is the following (old way):
INTERFACES=(eth0 eth1)
eth0="dhcp"
eth1="eth1 192.168.0.10 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.0.255"
ROUTES=(!gateway)
eth0 is on DHCP because the IP is dynamically assigned my ISP.
eth1 has a fix IP because it's on the LAN side.
No problem to use DHCP on eth0 with the new settings.
But for eth1, I don't know what I am supposed to write for gateway.
Wiki isn't clear on that one either, and it looks like many articles still refer to the old way.
Any guidance appreciated, thanks.
brazzmonkey,
you can't define 2 interfaces the old way (even though I saw some tricky workaround somewhere in the forums).
Use, f.e., netcfg:
Comment your old lines.
In /etc/rc.conf insert:
NETWORKS=(Eth0-dhcp Eth1-static)
DAEMONS=(..... !network @net-profiles ....)
In /etc/network.d create 2 files:
First one is named Eth0-dhcp.
Contents:
CONNECTION="ethernet"
DESCRIPTION="Whatever text"
INTERFACE=eth0
HOSTNAME="your hostname"
IP="dhcp"
DHCP_TIMEOUT=15
Second one is named Eth1-static.
Contents:
CONNECTION='ethernet'
DESCRIPTION='whatver'
INTERFACE='eth1'
HOSTNAME='hname'
IP='static'
ADDR='192.168.0.10'
GATEWAY='192.168.0.1' # your gateway IP
DNS=('192.168.0.1') # your DNS server
The names Eth0-dhcp and Eth1-static are not magic. They just must be the same in rc.conf and in /etc/network.d.
Hope it helps.

PS: netcfg must be installed.

Help with ipod video, screen doesn't work
My ipod started acting weird when I updated the ipod software. My screen will freeze, but it's not black or white, it shows the "Do not disconect" sign but with a bunch of little color squares all over the screen. I've tried everything, restore it, reset it, everything and as soon as it turns on, the screen goes like this.
can anyone help me?
thanks!Try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
- Reset. Nothing is lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem then you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. -
Greetings,
I had an issue where my Nano's battery got very low to the point that it was not recognized by my computer. I borrowed an AC charger and got it to charge and work fine but still not be recognized by my computer. I followed the instructions for downloading the HP USB formatter and when I tried to restore using updater 6/28 I get a service error and cannot restore. I tried turning off the fast switch option (which waas on in the past when the computer used to see the ipod in itunes) and then I tried removing itunes and reinstalling it and I get the same error message. It seems to me that the helper files that look for the ipod are missing. The iPod will respond to being reset and the computer recognizes it, but I cannot restore it. Is there a way to restore it without using the latest updater? Any help greatly appreciated.the ipod-service/software-required error messages are typically caused by snarlups on the PC side of things.
the theory behind the registry entries version of this is a little sketchy. i've only encountered about ... ten at the outside? ... confirmed cases of this since Christmas. possibly it's associated with not running installations as an administrator, possibly with running the installs inside a different user account than itunes has already been installed in, possibly with security software interfering with registry changes during the install process.
if you do run into troubles with key editing, ProgMan and hutch's threads might be of some help:

Need serious help with Ipod nano and WinXP
A few days ago my fiancee was moving songs to her Ipod when it automatically tossed all of my songs onto her Ipod so she deleted them from Itunes and tried to continue. Something happened and she got a message that her Ipod "could not be read from or written to" so I hooked mine up to see if it was a hardware problem and all of my music was also deleted and now I get the same message. We have uninstalled the software, reinstalled the original CD, updated to v.6 and still get the same message. Also, when we try to uninstall the updated Ipod software we get an error message 0x80040707 access denied.
We can see the Ipods when we open Itunes, but can't move any songs to our Ipods. Also gives an error msg about not being able to copy music because of missing playlists...I never had any playlists. These things are only 6 months old and I can't afford to pay $60 for phone tech support. If anyone has the answer plz respond or email me at [email protected]
This has been giving us a headache for a week already. Thanks in advance.There are a couple of articles you can check out for help:
"-36 or "Disk cannot be read from or written to" when syncing iPod or "Firmware update failure" error when updating or restoring iPod
Hudgie - iPod cannot sync because one or more playlists are missing -
My computer shut down while updating my iPod touch to iOS 4.3.2 and now I'm trying to restore my iPod with the backup but my computer doesn't have enough memory space and iTunes says the backup could not be saved on the disc (I think iTunes compresses the backup). Is there anyway I could save/extract it to my portable hard drive? Any other suggestions on how to restore the to my iPod without using 6+ GB of space? Also, what does restoring from backup restore? Thanks in advance.
*Edit: Sorry, I'm using PC. How do you move this to Syncing your iPod touch to a PC?
Message was edited by: otterblueWelcome to the discussions,
if your PC shut down during the update, the backup created by iTunes might be damaged. Try to delete the latest backup in the list in iTunes/Preferences/Devices. If you have more than one backup listed, copy the whole backup folder to an external HD or USB drive, in case you might need the data again.
The backup folder is located here: Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
You might also try to delete the ipod software file located in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates, to make iTunes download a new copy when you connect in recovery mode. Maybe the file stored on your PC is damaged as well due to the shut down.
Recovery mode is covered here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808 -
Just bought a new 60Gig.I have Nero Recode 2. It will convert DVD to MPEG-4 and it will play with Nero software. When I import to iTunes it is pixelated and audio and video are not in sync. Sorry if this has already been answered I went back and looked over several days of threads and could not find an answer. It appears to convert to Nero-digital MPEG4.If anybody knows how to please advise. Thanks
The folks at Ars Technica have a handy guide (which I haven't tried yet - most of my stuff is on my Mac anyway).

I need help with a software update problem??
I recently got a new macbook pro and I was doing a software update last night as it was required but then when it started to do the update the computer installed the software and then a barring noise came from the mac and it tried to restart 4 times before it eventually came back on. The software trying to install was Fireware 800 I think. Can anyone help with this?
Try MacBook notebook forum to talk to other users, or OS Software (Lion or Snow Leopard)
Does not sound like an Apple OS update though.

Need help with "Nokia Software Updater"...Plz
hi
plz help me
every time i try to install
and it gave me this MSG
" Error 2738.Could not access VBScript run time for custom action."
my Lap work with W.vista
and i have N95-8GB
plz i need a help to update my phonePlease do a search on this forum for "6280 software update" and you will have your answer.
Many people have written here about Nokia software updater that tries to flash their 6280 phones with V6.10 (intended for the 6288) and then breaks their phones.
I myself was busy downloading the firmware for a friends 6280 that was just minutes away from being flashed with 6.10 when I came across messages on many sites telling about the issue with the software updater and 6280 phones. I managed to save that 6280 from sure doom.
If you also searched before hand you would not have this trouble.
You need to take the phone to a nokia Service centre to have it flashed now and get it into a working state. -
Help downloading ipod Software Update
My sister plugged in my new ipod nano to a PC and reformatted it halfway before she unplugged it. PC's won't recognize it, and my Mac says its windows formatted. I think restoring it is my only option. Unfortunately I live on an island and the internet is really slow (it says 10 hours downloading time for the 58MB of the ipod Software Update even though I pay the equivalent of 75 dollars a month for a cable modem!). I'm patient and wouldn't care so much if it weren't for the fact that the internet gets cut off every half hour or so, and the download starts back up from scratch each time (someone's got to tell itunes to incorporate a download manager!!!). I've been trying to download it for three weeks now and still have 0Mb of the download. Is there any way that I can download whatever software I need to restore the ipod through a download manager--I wrote Apple support about this but got no solution. I really don't know what to do. I will NEVER be able to download 58MB here. Please, please help.
That is what they call broadband in Easter Island, the regular telephone connection is 15 hours (we should all protest but that's another story). Anyway, I have a download manager called iGetter, I just don't know how to get iTunes to do the download from there since there is no web address to copy. Thanks for the free download manager web address though...any idea on how I get it to do download the ipod software update or any other kind of ipod nano restore software. Still, I read elswhere that you can only restore through iTunes, could that be true? I looked at the Apple Support Downloads section and there are updaters you can download but they don't support my 3rd generation iPod nano. I'm an Apple fan, I am!, but really, why does it have to start the download from scratch each time? I think more than just 1% of us would be happy if it the download started from where it left off, especially concerning heavy downloads.

I'm having a problem with my mini. It turns it self on, and then right back off constantly, until the batteries run out. when i hook it up to the computer, it recharges, and then goes back to the on/off cycle. the computer won't recognize it. All i see is the apple logo clicking on then off then on etc...
I've tried resetting it, but it just goes back to the on/off cycle.
Please help!iPod Doesn’t Appear on OS X Desktop or in iTunes
I hope this helps!
The other option is to just kinda let it run itself out of battery, then see how it's doing.
