Help with Itunes store connection

I have recently downloded version 7 of Itunes but am having problems accessing the Itunes store when I click on it the following error message appears
Itunes could not connect to Itunes Store. The network connection was reset make sure your network connection is active and try again.

I had exactly the same problem. I tried all of the above suggestions but the problem persisted. I contacted my ISP (Tiscali) and got this response from them. The first suggestion worked for me after I had rebooted. The steps must be performed in sequence:
Step : 1 Check SSL & TSL settings
Step : 2 Add port 80 and 443 if you have installed Norton Internet Security
Step : 3 Add "ituneshelper.exe" to the list of allowed application, if your computer is installed with Windows XP Service Pack II
Step : 4 Perform some advanced troubleshooting steps
# Step 1 : Ensure the SSL and TSL are checked #
1. Start Internet Explorer.
2. Click Tools/Internet Options
3. In the Advanced Tab scroll down to Security and make the that SSL 2.0 and TSL 1.0 are checked.
# Step 2 : If your computer is immunized with Norton Internet Security #
If you are using iTunes 6.0.4.2 and have Norton Internet Security installed then make sure that Ports 80 and 443 are added. You can perform the following steps to add the ports:
iTunes must connect to the Internet to download music from the Music Store or get CD track information from CDDB. Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall may block iTunes from doing these things.
To set up Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall to allow iTunes to connect to the Internet, check for a program rule for iTunes. Set the rule to permit all. If no program rule exists for iTunes, add a rule.
To check for an existing program rule for iTunes
1. Start Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2. Click Personal Firewall.
3. Click Configure.
4. On the Programs tab, scroll through the Manual Program Control window until you find iTunes.
5. Do one of the following:
* If you find iTunes, then verify that the Internet Access setting is Permit All. If it is set to Deny, then set it to Permit All.
* If you do not find iTunes in this list, then you must add a program rule to allow iTunes to access the Internet.
To add a program rule for iTunes
1. Open Norton Internet Security or Norton Personal Firewall.
2. Click Personal Firewall.
3. Click Configure.
4. On the Programs tab, click Add.
5. In the Select a program window, browse to iTunes.exe.
6. Click Open.
7. In the Program Control window, click Permit All, then click OK.
8. Repeat steps 4–7 for iTunesHelper.exe.
9. Click OK.
# Step 3 : If you are using Windows XP Service Pack II : #
In case you are using Windows XP Service Pack II then make sure to unblock the ituneshelper.exe. Please perform the following steps:
1. Start Control Panel - > "Security Center".
2. Selected firewall/program permissions, scrolled down to the "ituneshelper.exe" and changed the pull down menu from block to allow.

  • Help with iTunes store not loading after 10.4/10.5 updates

    Hello,
    Ever since the 10.4 update, I cannot login to the iTunes store. The status bar flickers and then stops half way. I thought the 10.5 update would fix it and it did not. I uninstalled/re-installed and still nothing. I see lots of others are having this same problem with no luck. iTunes "help" just sends me links to stuff I have already tried. My router has all the proper ports open, iTunes has proper permissions in my filters...basically nothing has changed on my end. Everything worked fine pre 10.4. It all started with 10.4! Anyone out there have a solution?

    Reset the WinSock key
    If you are unable to identify the software that installed the LSP, you are unable to remove this software because it performs an important function for you, or you've removed this software and the issue persists, you may wish to reset the WinSock key.
    To do so, please do the following in an administrator user:
    Windows Vista and Windows 7: Right click All Programs and choose Accessories > Command Prompt. Choose to open as an administrator.
    Windows XP: Click Start > Run and type in cmd.
    Enter the following command: 
    netsh winsock reset
    Restart the computer and test the issue.

  • Help with iTunes Store purchase

    Is there any way to contact the iTunes Store directly? I just purchased two songs and one of the songs sounds messed up. It fades in and out so bad it wasn't worth the purchase. It didn't sound that way while I was listening to it before the purchase at the iTunes Store, sigh. While it was downloading I was asked to update my acceptance of the new rules, etc, so I'm wondering if that had something to do with the quality of the purchase? I've ordered songs for years from iTunes and this is the first time I've ever had a problem with a purchase. Anyone know how I can resolve this problem?

    Good grief! Believe it or not Dave, I actually went to that page but I immediately zeroed in on all the help links, didn't see what I was looking for so I left, never noticing the big HELP email icon at the top of the page, ugh. Thanks for the quick response. By the way, when following through with your directions I was also led back to my own iTunes account where, if I had looked under "recent purchases" I would've found another way to contact iTunes about the song. Am I allowed to blame it on lack of sleep since I'm not a blond? lol

    can you buy games with the gift cards for iTunes or just music?

    The game "phase"(guitar hero-ish game), does it only sync with songs from iTunes? Or will i be able to play with songs i got from my CDs too?

    The size of the iPod's storage doesn't matter, only the model of iPod.

    Gift cards can be used for games unless you're in Canada.

    It appears that it will work with any tracks in your iTunes library, but I can't be certain. Perhaps someone who has the game will see your question and post a definitive answer.

    You can't, at least not using iTunes.
    I've seen 3rd-party software for creating ring tones, but I don't know if they will go to an iPhone.

    I am using the monster paradise app. It is a game hwere you can buy cristals to keep on going on the game. But it tells me that I cannot buy anything. But looking in my bank account I see that apple is charging me money for things that i did not buy. Exactly 1.98€ what do I have to do? They do not answer me to any email that i habe sent.     Have you tried contacting your ISP to see if they can talk you through a trace from your computer to phobos.apple.com?
    Some people with AOL were having problems and it turned out that their tracelog revealed connectivity issues.
    You say that a lot of people are having problems but I'm not having any problems up here in Canada connecting and I had no problem yesterday or on friday. I have had problems in the past but I assume that it was network issues on the ISP side since I had problems connecting to some other sites as well.

    Been trying to pull up purchased season of Breaking Bad. Got thru some episodes but now it's saying it can't connect with itunes store.  Everything's updated and all other features of ATV work fine.

    I've had apple tv since August and seem to have had to do a restore every 2 weeks or so, lost connectivity, can't connect to itunes or other errors. the restore takes a good 20 minutes even on wide band internet. it works for a few days then seems to go bad. read something online tonight about just restarting apple tv, presumably by powering down from the socket and rebooting. good luck.

    When I want to purchase apps from the app store or update apps on my iphone, I get the message: connection with itunes store failed. I can purchase apps on my computer and send them over to my iphone, but I can't connect only via iphone. WIFI is working, I have internet on my iphone,everything is working, except the connection with itunes. What can I do?
    I checked the website for problems, but there is no problem with my wifi.
    Can anyone please help me?

    Same here.
    On my 5c the iTunes Store app shows as open in the multi-tasking view.
    But any attempt to launch it from either the multi-taking view or from the app icon on the desktop fails: the iTunes Store app zooms up to fill the screen and then immediately shuts down again.
    You can do this as many times as you like, and it keeps failing. Almost as entertaining as Angry Birds.
    The link posted by jeremy_v does not offer any information that will fix this problem.
    Guess Apple doesn't want us using the iTunes Store.

    In short, the fix for me was to launch the iTunes store through Apple's Music app.
    Looks like there a bug in iOS7.

    Perhaps Bob will see this thread, he is the professor in these cases.
    You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
    All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
    Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
    Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
    All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
    Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
    I want to test 2 other things:
    1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
    2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.

    For some reason my iPad say I cannot connect with iTunes store while trying to update an app. I've tried all I know. Any suggestions?

    I am getting the same message. This is what I did to update my apps.
    Go to the App Store and search for one of the apps that needs an update. When the app appears in the search - there should be an Install button next to the app icon. Tap on it and see if the download will start. It worked for me.
    After over two years of owning iPads and never having had this happen before -  this is happened to me twice now in the last two weeks. It's weird, but it happens.
