Help with iWeb 09 and ftp publishing please?

I'm using iWeb09 and when I publish my website via ftp, the address it publishes to is my web address, followed by / and the name I gave the website on iWeb. So its not showing on my actual website. When I go to visit the website via the successfully published screen, the message I get is the requested url is not found on this server. Any help please?

Make sure you entered the correct URL in the Publishing Settings page and that you have left the Directory/Path field blank as shown on the first example on this page...

Can You Build a Website with iWeb and then publish it to another server?

I am very new at this but like how easy iWeb makes it to build a website. A few questions for the newbie:
1. I want to build a site but have another server I use who would host it. After watching the iWeb tutorials it looks as if you have to publish it on mobileme.com. But I already have hosting with another company. How do you do that?
2. I also have a domain name I want to show up in the hyperlink bar not mobileme.com/____, is that possible to do with this program?
3. Are their other templates for iWeb? I see about 12 or so they offer, can you search and download for new ones or is what's there all you have to choose from?

Help with PHP and FTP

Hi !
I am trying to use the ftp support in php to move files from one server(A) to another(B). We have secure ftp connection to the other server(B) I am trying to connect from PHP script and ftp_connect( ) is not working.
1 )Is there a way I can overwrite this function in order
to connect using sftp ??
2 ) Also if I run the phpinfo, how would i know which
port php is using for ftp_connect ??
3 ) Can I use ftp_ssl_connect( ) ??

Help with automator and folder actions please

Hi all!
I'd like to attach a folder action to a folder, so that any time i drag something in it, it'll be sent to my mobile phone.
I just dont get it how to do it.
Can please someone help? I'm totaly incapable of writing an applescript to do so...

So next step...
I create a folder so and right-click "configure actions" (sorry my
system is french so the terms are probably different on the US
system....)
Automator launches, and I add the push to BT part to my workflow. I save
it all, and return to the finder.
I right click on the folder, the script appears as it should.
I click on the created script, a window opens with the device selection.
I click OK. and get a message saying that this kind of file (a standard
.sis file) won't be accpted from my device (a 6680 nokia). I click "try
anyway", the window of file transfer opens, but I get the error
"Transfer failed, operation not handled".
I don't get it. Where did I go wrong?

Need help with date and time calculations please

Working on a list to manage and track PTO. User completes PTO request form,
Fields
Name
Start Date (with time)
End Date (with time)
Total Number of Days/hours requested: (calculation)
Full Day: (Yes/No)

user has the ability to request a certain number of hours as opposed to a full day.
After searching around on google. I found this calculation to help me figure out how many BUSINESS days being requested.

This works great as long as its a [Full Day]="YES", displays results in column labeled Number of days
now if [Full Day]="No", displays results in column labeled Number of Hours
BUT this is my issue (well part of it) it calcuate the correct number of hours.. but puts a "1" in "Number of Days" why.. dates have not changed.. I think Its something with the above calculation but I could be way off.
the end result is I need number of days to concat with number of hours
i.e 1 full day 4 hours 1.4
0 full day 5 hours 0.5
1 full day 0 hours 1.0
so that the total can be deducted via workflow.. from the remaining balance in a tracker. (seperate list)

I need some help with AVI and IDX files please.

Hello there,
I've just been given a hard drive with a load of media on it that I need to work with in FCP.
There's a folder with many .AVI clips, and each clip has an accompanying directory file with the extension .IDX
The format of the AVI files is DV, 720x576, 48kHz.
For the life of me, I can't get FCP to accept the media. Log and Transfer won't accept them, and if i bring in the AVI files in on their own using File>Import>Files... I get a message saying:
Media Performance Warning
It is highly recommended that you either recapture the media or use the Media manager to create new copies of the files to improve their performance for multi-stream playback.
I can click 'OK' for this message and the media will appear in the browser, but If I place one of these AVI files on a new conformed sequence, the audio needs rendering. (Sequence settings correspond to media settings)
I tried just changing the wrapper from AVI to MOV, thinking I could fool FCP into accepting them, but I get the same rejection.
I thought the audio and video signals might be muxed, so I tried MPEG Streamclip to sort that out, but even MPEG Streamclip doesn't accept the media, saying : File open error: Can't find video or audio tracks.
Could anybody advise me on how to get the most out of these media files please?

yes. I tried transcoding in QT, but they still come in with the same audio rendering required. I'm a bit loath to convert them all though, as there are 1400 clips.
It's not a huge problem, as they do play in FCP, but I'd like to sort out the audio rendering. I don't understand why it needs rendering as the media and sequence audio settings match, and it's not some weird format or anything, it's bog standard 48kHz stereo.

Help with Itunes and Windows ME please

I have a Nano and use it with Windows XP with no problems. We purchased a 3rd generation Nano for my parents and their computer is several years old and uses Windows ME but the Itunes site says it is only for XP and Vista. What alternatives do I have other than to tell them to buy a new computer?

Thats true but...
Lets say you had the minamum requirments for me then you would need to upgrade the Hard Ware. XP is really cheap now so its worth the xtra bucks.

Help with search and replace script please

I've written a javascript which uses various GREP and text find/changes to copy some text from the first two paragraphs of a document and use them elsewhere (in the running head and footers) and now I want to delete the first two paragraphs. Not sure how I would do that. If I was doing a manual find/change (with nothing selected) it would automatically select the first para in the first text box but when I run teh following;
app.findGrepPreferences.findWhat = "^.+$";
app.changeGrepPreferences.changeTo="";
app.activeDocument.changeGrep();
it finds all paragraphs and deletes them. I was going to include the code twice; once to delete the first paragraph and then again to delete the other (new first) paragraph. My JS skills are shaky but I'm quite comfortable with GREP. Can anyone point me in the right direction for how I acheive what I want? If I did a for loop surely I'd just be doing the same thing but more than once!
Much to my surprise the rest of the script is working although it made my brain hurt!

myStory=app.activeDocument.stories.everyItem();
the variable "myStory" won't point to just a single story, but ... to "every story". So that's why the next line removes more than you intended!
What the "everyItem" thingy internally does is still unclear to me, but that doesn't keep me from using it -- but only when you absolutely, positively want to perform an action on every item
Now the usual examples say something like
myStory = app.activeDocument.stories.item(0); // access first story
but that's No Good. Even if your first story is the one you are targeting today, tomorrow, in a different document, it'll be story #1, or #5, or #255. There is no general rule that states the first story is always the largest one, or something like that.
If this is going to be used with a document template, the best way to identify the target story is by giving the first text frame a unique label. Otherwise, you'll have to think of something else ... A couple of other strategies:
1. You are already using GREP to find stuff. If one of those searches is guaranteed to return just text in the one story you are interested in, you can use this.
2. You mention headers and footers. If your main text is the only one that runs through multiple text frames, you can loop over all stories and check which one runs through than a single text frame.
3. ... (I'm pretty sure there are some more strategies ...)

Working with iweb and ATT webhosting

I made my business website on iweb and downloaded it through FTP to my att webhosting site because it was simple and easy through iweb's step by step process.
I'm new at website building and don't even understand the lingo when trying to read these blogs for more insight.
I want to build beyond the basics such as adding meta tags and checking my site hits but I'm not sure if I do it through my webhosting account or through iweb.
Anyone know where to go to find help how to work these two programs together?
Apple tech only help with iweb and most of the ATT tech don't know how to work iweb so it's hit or miss when talking to them depending on who answers your call.

To add meta tags to your site you need to do this in your site directly, but your published site so that it is added to the html code.
Download a programme called iWebSEO. Go to iWeb and publish your site to a local folder and then open your published site with iWebSEO and add the tags, Google analytics etc., and anything else you want. Then use either iWebSEO to upload to your server or use a dedicated ftp client such as Cyberduck to do this - it can be downloaded for free from the internet.
You can easily place a hit counter on your site by inserting the code into an html snippet on your site. Do a Google search for hit counters and you will have lots of choices.

Photo file issues with iWeb and Aperture....also too much duplicating!!

A little background, before I get into my iWeb issue.....
Years ago I tried iPhoto, but I didn't like how it duplicated all my photo files and I wasn't very fond of the file structure it created. Years later (last month) I got Aperture. Aperture (still has a long way to go) also duplicates all your files and places them in their own file structure. If I can get along with Aperture (and if it will get along with my other programs), I won't mind putting all my files into the file structure it creates. But for now, I still have my original files in the original file structure I have had for many years as a back up.
On to my issue with iWeb and Aperture....
To add photos to iWeb, you can either go into the iWeb media center or you can drag and drop photos from other locations.
1st: iWeb media center
To get my photos into the media center, I would have to load them into iPhoto (iP 6 does allow you to keep your original file structure, but it still creates .jpg files, which fills up your hard-drive. More duplicates I don't need or want). So that is out for me. iP6 will let you view and use your Raw files.
Another way is to drag and drop your file structure directly into the media center window. I don't think this duplicates any files (at least I haven't been able to find any), but it takes an awfully long time to thumbnail all your photos (several hours and still waiting for 22K + files). Also, it won't show any Raw files. Again, out for me.
Aperture won't let you drag and drop its library into the media center at all. So if I was to move all my files into the Aperture Library, I wouldn't be able to access them for iWeb at all.....Out for me.
2nd: Drag and Drop
I was able to drag and drop Raw files directly into iWeb from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Adobe Lightroom.
As I said before, I am trying to move over to Aperture. However, Aperture won't let me drag and drop photos. What is the deal here??? These are both Apple programs and they won't play nice with each other. Very annoying.
Anyway, I put a link below to my iWeb test webpage I made. All the photos were Raw files that I did a drag and drop from C1 Pro, Adobe Bridge and Lightroom. There were no problems with the publishing.

Perhaps you are right.
I am not a web developer and I will never be. I don't feel like spending countless hours learning how to use Dreamweaver or some other Pro web app. iWeb looked like a way to start making websites of my photos for my friends and family (much easier and better than Home Page on .Mac). All I was asking was for a way to drag and drop my photos (especially Raw files) with Aperture. Which I can do with Lightroom, Adobe Bridge and C1 Pro, and without using iPhoto.
I am not a Pro photographer either, but I purchased Aperture based on what was advertised on the Apple website. From that ad, Aperture fit my photo needs almost to a tee. I am looking to adjust Raw files, Crop, Archive and keep my use of Hard Disk space down to a minimum. I can use Photoshop for the other 5% of things I do. However, Aperture has some issues (if you own it, then you already know. If you don't, you can read the Aperture Forum) This is one of the reasons I never went to iPhoto for archiving. I didn't like the way it duplicated all my files, taking up more disk space and its file structure. So even though Aperture won't play nice with other programs, I was surprised that it wouldn't play nice with any Apple programs.
After reading your post and based on what you are saying, everyone either needs to have/learn/use Pro apps only or have/learn/use iApps only. Don't Cross the Streams!!
I guess that means Apple will need to fix DVD Studio Pro. It uses photos that are in your iPhoto library and music from iTunes (iApps in a Pro app??....for shame...."it was never intended"). Also, DVD SP won't read the Aperture library. Does that mean there are 3 platforms? Pro, iApp and Mediocre??
Now I have 2 questions:
1. Can someone please tell me which apps are Pro and iApp, or if there is Mediocre? I don't want to mix them up and "Cross the Streams".
2. Again....is there anyway to use Aperture with iWeb?

How do I delete sites created with iWeb and posted with .mac after a format

I am confused about how to delete a couple of sites that I created with iWeb and posted with my .mac after I did a format reload?
I have tried everything. The original files are not on my MacBook Pro because of the format.
I also see them in my idisc, but I is my understanding that on my MacBook Pro that I can delete the files, but they are hosted online. On the online idisk I cannot delete them because there is no option. Please help!!!

Using the file menu in Finder:
Go/iDisk/My iDisk/Web/Sites/iWeb/YourSitesAreHere
Highlight selected files and Command/Delete. You will receive a drop down asking you if you are sure; click OK and the files/sites will be deleted immediately from the iDisk.

Problems with reports and XML-publisher - No XML

I'm having a problem with Apps and XML-publisher. I made a report file, which queries some views. When executing in reports, I get all the data I expect.
Now, when I upload the reportfile to Apps and let it generate XML, my xml-file is empty (well, almost empty)

OK, finally solved the problem... A good night's sleep always helps ;).
After just trying each queried table one after an other, I found the problem:
The difference between Oracle Apps (Dutch locale) and the reports builder (English) is the language... And our functional people have changed some names, but the Dutch ones, leaving the english names in place and one of the tables I query has language specific data, which is also appears in a where clause.

In a situation such as yours, I tend to consolidate items into folders so I have folders of nice workable numbers of images, somewhere between 20 and 200 images. Now, whatever, once you've imported, do your moving within LR, not the OS! I will select all in a folder and drag into a folder a level or two or three above, and then delete the newly empty subfolders. I hope this helps a bit!
Once you've reached just new Imports of camera output, you'll be flying along.

You appear to have just collected a variety of code snippets and thrown them together, including a section of AS2 code ( gage.onRelease = function() {... )
The suggestion I offered yesterday still stands. You should find a tutorial regarding AS3 and the atan2 function. Beyond that, what you show suggests this is a school assignment. You should seek help from your fellow students and instructor if that is the case.
