Help with Java Web Service

Hi,
I tried integrating java code with java embedding acitivity, but in em it is failing. Can anybody know how to convert the below java code to a webservice, so that I can pass the input paramaters directly to that webservice. I tried of converting java code to webservice in jdeveloper, but because of static void main it is not converting. Can somebody help me in this issue.
this is the original executable java code.
package com.holx.api.test;
import java.util.HashMap;
import com.agile.api.APIException;
import com.agile.api.AgileSessionFactory;
import com.agile.api.IAdmin;
import com.agile.api.IAgileClass;
import com.agile.api.IAgileList;
import com.agile.api.IAgileSession;
import com.agile.api.IAutoNumber;
import com.agile.api.IDataObject;
import com.agile.api.INode;
import com.agile.api.IProperty;
import com.agile.api.IServiceRequest;

import com.agile.api.ServiceRequestConstants;
import com.agile.px.ActionResult;
import java.net.URL;
public class TestAgileAPI {
//     @Override
//     public ActionResult doAction(IAgileSession arg0, INode arg1,
//               IDataObject arg2) {
          // TODO Auto-generated method stub
//          return null;
     * @param args
     public static void main(String[] args) {
          IAgileSession m_session = null;
          IAdmin admin = null;
          IAgileClass cls = null;
     String sr="PR-KB00028";
String userName="*******";
String password="*******";
String URL="*********";
          try {
               HashMap params = new HashMap();
               params.put(AgileSessionFactory.USERNAME, userName);
               params.put(AgileSessionFactory.PASSWORD, password);
               AgileSessionFactory instance = AgileSessionFactory.getInstance(URL);
               m_session = instance.createSession(params);
               admin = m_session.getAdminInstance();
               cls = admin.getAgileClass( "ProblemReport" );
               IServiceRequest psr = (IServiceRequest)m_session.createObject( "ProblemReport", sr);
          psr.setValue(ServiceRequestConstants.ATT_COVER_PAGE_DESCRIPTION, "KB-Test-20121400");
          } catch (APIException e) {
               e.printStackTrace();
          } finally {
               m_session.close();
Can somebody help me in converting this code into a webservice which accepts String SR as input from soa.
Thanks,

Hi Francois,
I never tried to use a webservice in the value help wizzard, so I don't know if it works or not.
But for your problem you can build your own value help to avoid the problem.
You told us that the webservice works in the storyboard. The value help wizard "only" creates a popup iView in your model and assigns the output field of the popup to an input field in a form.
Maybe as a solution you can insert a popup to the model by yourself. Assign the output field of your popup to the input field for which you want to have the value help. Inside the popup iView you can use your custom built webservice.
I know that this is a little bit circuitous, but I think it will work.

Christophe

  • Help with Java Web Start

    Hi everybody,
    I have a simple Java application that has a JFrame containing a TextField displaying some text inside it. I am using the NetBeans IDE. I am trying to Enable Java Web start for this application. The steps I have taken upto now are:
    1. Right click on Project, Java Web Start -> Enable Java Web Start. This created the jnlp file.
    2. In the Resources section, I added the jar file for swing. ( I am not sure if I have to add the path for jnlp.jar etc, or are these found automatically?)
    3. Right click on Project, Java Web Start -> Deploy with Java Web Start. This launches the browser with the Click me link, but on clicking this link, I get the following error.

    I am not sure what it has to do with servlets, I just followed a tutorial on using Netbeans with Java Web Start, and did only the steps as mentioned in my first post. And ended up with the error.
    Anyways, I added the jnlp jar files(jnlp.jar, jnlp-servlet.jar, jardiff.jar) in the WEB-INF/lib directory. And it seems to deploying it now. I can get my application to load on clicking on the "Click me" link. But the controls on my application don't seem to be working.
    Also, when I try to Right click on my project -> Java Web Start -> Run with Java Web Start, I get the following error message,

  • NEED HELP WITH DATABASE WEB SERVICE INTEGRATION

    Hello everybody. I have created a web service with returns a list of records extracted from a database. It works, Apex references the web service and get the result when I test it, but I want to display results in a page type "Form and Report on Web Service" and when I associate the web service to the page and click on "Finish Button" I get this message:
    "This Web service does not have a result tree in its definition that is appropriate for a report. You may wish to run the Form on Web Service wizard instead.".
    It is correct, of course, but I do not have an example of how to do an appropriate definition for this kind of report.What kind of definition is it waiting for? What I do in the web service is to return a list of items (a resultset of a query such as "SELECT PRODUCTID, PRODUCTNAME, PRICE, IMAGEHREF FROM PRODUCTS") concatenated in a string (commas-separated values). What kind of output must the web service produce or how have I to structure the associated wsdl document in order to display the result with a "form and report on web service" page?
    Every help or example is welcome.
    Thanks a lot and have a nice day

  • Help with java - web form filling out

    I am pretty new to java, but I am learning the basics. However, I know next to nothing about html spec/ java net packages.
    I have code that goes through a database of "stuff" I have stored. It then generates all the choices that I want to list an ebay auction as. However, I need to get java to fill out the form, get an answer and send a submit command. I know there are .net related classes, but not really sure how to use them. I also am sure there are simplier ways to do this, but am trying to do this in java. I know you basically telnet into port 80 of the host computer, and feed them a line of stuff saying who you are and asking for the new page.
    If you want a link go here
    http://pages.ebay.com/sell/index.html
    then click on a catagory and log in and you will see the generic sell item form.

  • Java Web Service Book Recommendation

    Hello,
    my company is converting our old HP database system to Oracle database/server. I am looking for some books that can help me get familiar with Java Web Services. I want to use the latest Java.
    If anyone owns/knows a good book to recommend is very appreciated. Also, I would like to get a book regarding security in Java Web Service.
    Thank you.

    Three words: Amazon.com user reviews. They've never let me down yet.
    Note that the online documentation is absolutely not bad at all and the internet is riddled with examples; I managed to figure it all out without the help of a book.
    JAX-WS: https://metro.java.net/discover/
    JAX-RS: https://jersey.java.net/nonav/documentation/latest/index.html
    Of course these are only the reference implementations. Many people choose to use Apache Axis 2 in stead of Metro for example, which has its own (rich) documentation, user base and forums.

  • Java Web Services Security with 10.1.2.1

    I have developed a Java Web Service with J Developer 10.1.2.1 which was deployed onto Oracle 10.1.2.1 application server. Now I have to implement Security for this Web Service (similar to ws-security etc.,), how I can achieve Security with 10.1.2.1?
    J Developer 10.1.3.1 seems to have the feature to implement Web Service Security, but a Java Web Service developed using J Developer 10 .1.3.1 with security enabled cannot be deployed onto Oracle 10.1.2.1 application server.
    Please help as how I can implement Java Web Service Security with 10.1.2.1?

    Thanks for the help in advance.

    You can use Oracle Web Services Manager to virtualize the end point and still implement WS-Security.

  • Help need in Java Web Service method receiving object values as null

    Below is my web method and Package is the object received from dotnet client as a consumer. I have also defined the Package object structure. Now when I receive the data from dotnet I get only identifier value, but I get ownerid and price as null, even both values are sent by Dotnet client. I want to know whether only primitive datatype in java web service works or I need to do some configuration changes in order to have build in Wrapper class datatypes? It would be a great help if somebody explains.

  • Java web services help needed

    i am a student. working on a project. using java web services. using its api jax-rpc. i have compiled, deployed and run an example given in the tutorial of the web services tutorial\examples\jaxrpc\hello. now i want to bring the "hello" folder out of its original directory to e.g c:\project\. i have tried alot. i am not able to set the paths in the xml files provided. if any one of you can help me in this. my address is [email protected] . i am waiting for your reply.

    Where are you stuck up.
    Try the following steps
    create a directory structure
    c:\projects\jaxrpc
    copy your example
    <JWSDP>/docs/tutorial/examples/jaxrpc/hello to
    c:\projects\jaxrpc
    you may need to remove \build and \dist from the
    example if you have already tried the example
    copy your example
    <JWSDP>/docs/tutorial/examples/jaxrpc/common to
    c:\projects\jaxrpc
    Now the example will run correctly but only the war
    file is created in your original tutorial location.
    Now modify tut-root in
    c:\projects\jaxrpc\common\build.properties to
    tut-root=C:\\projects
    and modify the war-path in \hello\build.properties to
    point to
    war-path=${tut-root}/jaxrpc/${example}/dist/${deployabl
    -war}
    If anything fails first check the paths through
    <YOUR_path>\hello>ant debug
    If there is problem post details where it is failing.
    Ri am trying this method. i will tell you when it is done. thank you.

  • Seeking advice with concept / design of a Java Web Services Application

    Hi all,
    After a week of searching the internet I'm not sure how which projects, services, etc. I should use to develop my application. Please could someone offer some advice?
    Application outline (Java application running on Linux):
    1. Wait for an instruction from a Windows WCF application. Instruction contains a list of domain names and one or two other parameters.
    2. Perform queries upon those domain names (find if they are registered, etc. - takes 10-20 mins to do complete list)
    3. Send back results to WCF application.
    Solution 1 (first idea):
    1. Create SOAP web service using Java Web Services / Apache to listen for requests. Executes a Java Client Application upon request.
    2. Java Client Application performs the queries...
    3. Java Client Application sends results to the Windows web service.
    Solution 1 Problems:
    a) Using 2 applications, they won't be able to share the same memory.
    b) The whole process will be slow (having to pass the domain names from the service to application and execute the application each time) - A quick response is critical.
    c) Would like is for the whole process to be done under one application, sharing the same memory.
    Solution 2:
    1. Create a Java Daemon from scratch listening for an incoming SOAP message (no web service like Apache/Tomcat involved).
    2. Query the domain names in a new thread inside the Java Daemon
    3. Send the results back via SOAP.
    Solution 2 Problems:
    Cannot find examples of how to create a SOAP service from scratch. E.g. creating a WSDL file based on my application; converting application methods to SOAP-callable methods easily (without writing a framework).
    With all the Java tools and projects out there - Java EE, Glassfish Project - there must be a very easy way to achieve this seemingly simple task. Please can someone offer some advice?
    Many thanks for reading this.

    You just need an app server like Tomcat.If I'm not wrong, Tomcat is a Servlet container.
    Servlets aren't deactivated when they don't receive
    any request for some time?
    How can I deploy an application to Tomcat in order to
    keep it always active?I don't know what you mean. Tomcat is an application that is always running. In what way are the Servlets deactivated?
    Apache Axis: http://ws.apache.org/axis/
    Yes I'm collecting some info about this... let's see
    it!
    Finally, to be more clearer... I don't want to start
    a new application at each invocation (something like
    getting the request, instantiating the necessary
    classes and executing them) but to call an already
    running app at each invocation (so, getting request
    and invoking, in a manner that I don't know, the
    running application).The container manages this. If you have data that must remain loaded, you can associate it with the class (use a static modifier.) This will complicate threading, however.
    I can use Axis to get the request, but it also grants
    me that my app will always be active?I think you are just using the wrong terminology here. What I think you are asking is whether the resources will be loded into memory at all times. If you want to ensure this behavior, you need to associate the data with a class. I'm not 100% positive, but I don't think Tomcat will unload classes in normal circumstances.

  • Java web service with php SOAP client

    Hi!
    I have a Java web service with a procedure, which connects to a database:
    public boolean connectDB(String driver,String host, String user, String password)
    try {
    Class.forName(driver);
    connection =
    DriverManager.getConnection
    host
    , user
    , password
    return true;
    } catch (Exception v_exception) {
    System.out.println("connectDB(): " + v_exception);
    return false;
    If I call it from a PHP client, it doesn't work but doesn't throw any exceptions on the server side.
    The way I call it:
    $client = new SoapClient
    (<path>);
    try
    $conn=$client->connectDB();
    catch (SoapFault $exception)
    echo "\nexception: " .$exception;
    On the client side, I have an exception, but it's not very detailed:
    exception: Object id #2
    I had a simple function, too, which returns a string:
    public String getTestString()
    return "test";
    and if I call it from PHP, it's working...
    What may be the problem?

    Neither the simple "setter" methods work.. :(
    The php client side:
    $string="aladar";
    $client->setSample($string);
    $return = $client->getSample();
    The server side:
    public String sample;
    public String getSample() {
    return sample;
    public void setSample(String a_sample) {
    sample = a_sample;
    Any ideas?

  • Consuming Java Web Service with complex return types

    Hi,
    I'm consuming a Java Web Service and the return I get in
    ColdFusion is a typed Java Object (with custom Java classes like
    com.company.project.JavaClass ...)
    Within this object I don't get direct accessible properties
    as when I'm consuming ColdFusion Web Services, instead I get a
    getPROPERTYNAME and setPROPERTYNAME method for each property.
    How can I handle this? I don't want to call this methods for
    each property (and there are nested objects with arrays of custom
    classes below, which would really make this complicated).
    What's the best way to cope up with this?
    Thanks a lot,
    Fritz

    The web service is actually the function, not the cfc and you
    didn't show a function.
    My own opinion is that since webservices by definition should
    be available to any calling app (cold fusion, .net, flash, etc),
    whatever gets returned from the method should be as universally
    recognizable as possible. This generally means text, numbers,
    boolean, or xml.
