Help with K7N2 Delta + Barton 2500+

Last night I changed my BIOS to 11x210, everything was working fine at 11x200, but now my machine will not boot up, the D-Bracket on my MSI K7N2 Delta shows that there is a problem with the RAM, but the RAM was working fine and after leaving the machine off for sometime it begins to boot up.
You can hear the drives spin up, the the Graphics card doesn't seem to kick in and the monitor LED remains on Amber.
I have tried clearing the CMOS with the JBT1 jumper but it doesn't seem to clear, I also removed the CR2032 battery but that also didn't work.
Please Help
More information is available

read the book it eally does help J 10 will force pc into 100 fsb mode
then you can set it back to 200 and put the jumper back in user mode
only move the jumper with the pc off and mains power disconnnected

For video the TI4600 would be fine and is more reasonably prices. As far as RAM Kingston is not on the approved list, like I said it may work fine or you may have problems depending on the chipset, but no matter what type of RAM you buy you definetly want to buy 2 X 256MHz so you can run dual channel.

    Thanks Bruce

Bruce: I have the same Delta-L motherboard and it is picky about the Ram. I used Crucial 2 512 sticks 400 and they are in slots 1 and 3. Is it maybe the power supply is a little weak? Seems they like 400 or better PSU.

  • Help with K7N2 Delta-L install

I am going to fit a K7N2 Delta-L motherboard next week. I have also ordered the following components.
    xp2000 cpu
    2x256 Crucial pc3200 ram
    MSI FX5200 TD128 graphics.
I have downloaded and read the manual but I am not clear on what I should set jumpers 10 (fsb mode) & 11 (fsb frequency) to. Also when I start the computer for the first time will I have to set the cpu and memory parameters in the BIOS or will the board aut-detect them.
    A.H.

    nVidia Drivers
d/l the latest nforce and vga drivers
just leave jumpers as it comes
it should auto if not set fsb to 133 ,leave ram alone
set ddr fsb ratio to 1.1 as well

  • Need serious help with K7N2 Delta!!!

I just finished building a PC, and no problems had cropped up until my last reboot. I shutdown simply to take a look at a fan controller, but I didn't mess with any wires or anything; I simply looked at it for a sec. Anyway, when I tried to reboot, it wouldn't do it and it still won't.
It takes about 5 minutes to "Detect IDE drives ...", but eventually detects them all correctly before moving to the next screen... >>
    Right now it's stalled at:
    Verifying DMI Pool Data ...................
    Boot from CD :
    Boot from CD :
    NVIDIA Boot Agent...blah, blah, blah
PXE-E61: Media test failure, check cable
    PXE-M0F: Exiting NVIDIA Boot Agent.
DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER
Anyway, I already have WinXP Home installed on it, with tons of progs set up and other stuff worked out. It was pretty much finished except for a few little things I wanted to do to custimize it. I've checked all the cables inside numerous times, and I still can't figure out what is going on.  I've check all cables, jumpers, wires--everything about a hundred times, and even tried to boot from CD only, HDD only...etc...
Any help would be really appreciated!!!
    Stats: MSI mobo, AMD XP2400 CPU, 512MB DDR333 RAM, 80GB WD HDD, ABIT Videocard (64MB DDR), Lite-On 52x CD-R, Lite-On 16X DVD, Sony Floppy Enermax 350w PSU

Geez this is getting frustrating. I found the problem and now I am having another.
The problem appears to be my CD-ROM. I had a CD-ROM and CD-RW on the same IDE channel. As soon as I unplugged the CD-ROM, the problem went away. I can not use the second CD-ROM no matter what IDE channel (1 or 2) or position (Master or Slave). I tried a different CD-ROM drive and it still causes the same problem. Ok, I can live without the drive for now.
Now I go to reformat my hard drive and I keeping getting a blue screen saying my Bios is not fully ACPI compliant. I flashed up to 5.6. I tried the trick of hitting F5 when Windows set-up asks for SCSI drivers and then selecting ACPI Uniprocessor. That doesn't work.
    Arghhh!!!
What the hell do I got to do to get this thing to work!!!!

  • Help with K7N2 Delta mobo

Got it from my brother the other week.  Found out that the processor was bad so I got a new one and tried to boot it up.  Everything would power up but I did not get a beep or any display on the monitor.  So I removed all the components except for the CPU, heatsink, PSU, and D-bracket.  Still no beep, and the leds for the D-bracket pointed to Memory Detection Test.  I pulled the mobo out of the case and placed it on an anti-static mat and still not getting a beep or display.  I know the CPU works because I tested it on another AMD pc at work.  I am going to test the GPU in another tonight after I get home.  I cleared the CMOS already.  The J10 jumper is set to 133MHz and the J11 is set to 133/166MHz.  Don't know what else to try.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Yep, the processor seems to be the problem.
You know of course that the graphics card, ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9800Pro 128MB 256-bit DDR VIVO AGP 4X/8X, need a special power connection, too.
http://www.gen-x-pc.com/vg_AIW9800P.htm From the picture it looks like a floppy device power cable.
And, this doesn't solve your problem, but I think you should wait with any PCI-cards. If you have any, take them out.
I tried the processor in another AMD machine at work and it was able to boot.  I have the extra power cable for the ATI card plugged in.  I tried booting with nothing on the board except the CPU and the D-link and still not getting a pc beep.

  • Serius problem with k7n2 delta 2

I have problems with my k7n2 delta2 does not recognize a AtlonXP 3000+ was working in this plate, doing tests of overclock, when to restart do not work the processor in this plate but,the motherboard (k7n2 delta 2) works with other processors, and processor 3000+ works with other motherboards, but Athlon 3000+ with k7n2 delta 2 does not work together, I tested of everything recover the bios, to update the bios and nothing, dont change to default, I hope that can help me beforehand thankful.

Why do you say Bios doesn't go to default options if with other CPUs Mobo turns on ? You must have in mind that each time you replace the CPU you must Clear CMOS to return to default options, and also you should clean HSF base and CPU die from old thermal grease. At least you know both CPU and Mobo works.

  • Problem with K7N2 Delta-ILSR, please help

First off, these are the specs for the computer to which I shall be referring in this post:
    K7N2 Delta-ILSR
    AMD 2700+
    1x512MB PC3200 Memory Corsair CM64SD512
    Seagate Barracuda 80GB 7200RPM SATA ST380013AS
    ATI 9600 Pro
    400 Watt power supply
    Cendyne 52x cd burner
Here's what happened.  I installed everything with only minor difficulties, mostly due to getting the hard drive to work.  They were worked through with little problem due, in large part, to this forum.  I installed Windows XP, and we ran a number of things with no problem after the OS installation.  The drivers for the video card loaded well.  3DMark2003 ran beautifully.  After I got that working, I went to put my friend's old hard drive in as a slave, so he could get the files off of it.  This seemed to work well enough.  Then we went to load the drivers for the motherboard.  When it got to the audio driver, we got the old "blue screen".  Then the computer reset and tried booting 98 from the old hard drive.  We shut down and disconnected the old hard drive.  Then we restarted to find that after the second screen XP would not begin to boot.  After some playing around we decided it best to reinstall, because with no combination could we get the OS to boot up.  So we reinstalled, with a full format.  This time, the first thing I went for was the motherboard drivers.  It stopped at the audio driver, again, and gave us the old "blue screen", again.  This time, instead of stopping the boot after the second screen, it came up with this message
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
    \system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before we decide what to do next.  Please let me know if any more information is required.  None of the bios settings have been altered, save to boot from the CD.
    Thank you,
    M.Cordier

    i would test ram

and go to drive makers site and get their testing utility

  • [nForce] Problems with K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum and SATA

    Hi All
I have a MSI K7N2 Delta 2 Platinum with an AMD 3200+ Barton.
    I have 2 x 512mb Crucial PC3200 DDR400 RAM.
I have a Samsung 80gb SATA hard drive.
I am trying to install Windows XP Pro onto a blank SATA drive. The trouble is that I get into the Win XP Pro setup and it just doesn't recognise the drive. I have tried installing the drivers on the Flopy, but the drive just isnt recognised for me to install Win XP to the SATA drive to use as a boot drive.
I've read the advice thread, but couldn't find my problem.
Any help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks

Thank for that. I haven't done that but I have got XP to recognise the drive to install to it.
XP went as far as going to the lovely bright XP installation screen and has installed hardware. When it got to installing the network it just froze up and stopped working.
Now I think the problem may be that I set the one SATA drive up to be RAID (striped) in the RAID config. I will disable this tonight and have another look. The thing that I would like to know is what setting in the BIOS of this mobo means that the SATA drive can be used as IDE? I don't have two SATA drives to use in RAID, so I figured that I have to get the one SATA to act as an IDE drive. I have SATA spreading disabled, but am unsure as to which of the other settings to change. Soz to keep asking!
EDIT: I sorted the RAID config thing. Fomatted the drive and re-installed XP. Once again, it just stops once it gets to the windowsesque creen. It stops at various points during the installation, sometimes at the "installing networks" bit, sometimes at the "completing installation" (after coying data). I just don't know what to do realy. Might RMA the board and go back to my trusted old Aopen AK77-600GN :-(
    Anyone any ideas?

You first need to make sure you have the promise controller drivers installed for it to recognize the hard drive. The system should have came with a floppy disk with the drivers on it........Make sure your boot order is floppy drive/cdrom drive/sata/scsi........boot to the XP cd after you have the sata controllers installed......then run the XP disk setup partion/format/install.........after installation you can set boot order as sata/scsi as first boot device.

  • Problems with K7N2 Delta-L

Hi, I am new here, so hello :D
    Well, I've just bought a MSI K7N2 Delta-L, beautifull board, with 2 x 256MB DDR400...
    My actual PC, so:
    MSI K7N2 Delta-L
    Athlon XP 1700+ 1.5v DLT3C JIUHB
    Thermaltake Volcano 7+
    2 x 256MB PC3200 VM
Well, I updated bios to the last one (5.4) and all is running ok... but I have some problems.
    1) I have problems when I try to overclock. One ot them, is that when I change a multiplier, o up the fsb... I must change jumpers, etc. etc. coz pc doesnt boot ... but later when I played with jumpers, it boot at speed that I wanted, like 10x200, etc. I dont know how to explain this problem! :(
    2) Well, another problem is with "By H/W" option in vCore and Multiplier. When I select this option, the vCore sometimes go to 1.8v ... and when I select 1.8v, if it wants, its go to 1.6v in win... I dont know what to do, bios do what he wants.
    3) Well, the last and I think most important problem, is when I try to change CAS Latency. I have 2.5-3-3-7 DDR400 memory. When I try to change CAS Latency to 2, in bios, its all right, it's boots, and figures CAS 2. But when I enter windows, ALL programs, says that CAS Latency is 2.5 !!! I tried lowering FSB to 133, and trying again CAS 2, but nothing, still CAS2.5 in win. I runned benchmarks, but no perfomance gaining with BIOS CAS2. What  happens!!?? Another thing, was that if I put in BIOS, AUTO, when I chane FSB to 233, CAS Latency goes to 3, when I put FSB to 200, CAS Latency goes to 2.5, when I put FSB to 166, CAS Latency remains in 2.5, when I put FSB to 133, IT STILL BEEING in 2.5 .. !! It doesnt change... the same in FSB 100.
HELP!!! and thanks a lot :(
PD: Same problems with all bios.

    Save... ---> ... WOHOO !! 2200 MHz!
    WHY !!?? (200 x 11 says in win) ... SSHHIITT!
    - Another problem... when I select by H/W in vCore... it goes to 1.8v!!!!
IS GOING ON WITH MY BOARD? Is the crappy bios?!
Bump all you want, with this kind of language I don't think you're going to get an answer.  :O Read the rules of the forum!
I didnt know that "SSHHIITT" and ":censored:" were "bad words"; btw I deleted them.

  • Problem with K7N2 Delta ILSR?

    Hi
Not sure if there is a problem or not but I have:
    K7N2 Delta ILSR
    Athlon XP 2.8GHz
    512Meg Ram
    Win XP SR2
When I check in System Properites, on the General Tab, at the bottom though it reports I have a AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2800+, correctly, however underneath it says  "2.08 GHz, 512 Mb RAM".
What happened to the other 0.7 Ghz !
In the BIOS, the FSB is set to 166 Mhz as recommeded. If set to 100 MHz, in the BIOS the clock speed appears as 1250Mhz! Surely that's not right.
I know it wont run at the full 2.8 GHz but I thought it should only be a little less than that? Is this normal?
    Many Thanks

  • HyperX with K7N2 Delta ILSR

I start a new thread because the topic could be interesting to other posters too.
From the MSI website we can see that Kingston DDR is recommended by MSI
but a lot of users here use other brands such as Corsair, Mushkin etc.
    WHY?
    and
WHY MSI does not recommend Corsair and Mushkin?
I believe both are reasonable questions.
And now lets move to the critical question.
Does the Kigston HyperX (PC3200) 400MHz (KHX3200)-CL2 will work smoothly with the
    K7N2 Delta ILSR?
    Any input is appreciated.
    Thanks

    msi_ole,
I have 4 computers here in my home office with various configs in them...way too numerous to list in a signature...my main system that I use for gaming is what is in my signature...I have the K7N2G-ILSR (non Delta) board in my testbed system...I have an MSI Ti-4600 Video card in another one of them...so I DO use MSI parts but I really like the combo of what I show in my signature much more than any other combination that I put together with all of this hardware...The system below is the fastest combo I found and it's that way even with no OCing so why wouldn't I go with it?
Also having this ASUS board let me know that not only MSI has issues with their nF2 chipset build because I've had to jump thru many hoops for various things with the ASUS board too...most of their problems are with the dual onboard network cards and memory issues which isn't really different than any of the other mfg's out there...I like to tinker with as much of this stuff as I can to see if it's one mfg or all of them and imho and from my tests it's NOT just MSI having this problem it's all of them...
What I said about Kingston has been their norm for years now...I used to own a computer store and they ALWAYS back out when they have issues...it's their way cause it's easier on them than having to actually fix something it seems...I don't like them and probly never will because of my experiences with them in the past...this is just my opinion and take it for what it's worth...
ALSO, if you had read my sticky post at the top of the forum you'd see that I recommend that you DO NOT follow MSI's recommended memory list as it could have been that they got a batch of modules that actually did work in the 1 or 2 boards that they tested them in...batches of memory differ highly in specs and those lists mean nothing to me when I buy memory anymore...gets me in the ballpark and nothing else...so take them with a grain of salt because NOTHING in electronics is absolute...parametric differences of electronic parts can leave you scratching your head for days when you just KNOW that something should work...it's the way it is...
My background in electronics is quite extensive starting with my DeVRY degree thru Guidance & Control Systems for Jets and Missiles to Memory Testers & VLSI testers used to test Intel/AMD CPU's and the memory we use in these beasts that we love to play with so much...
I've seen so much crap happen over the years I'm here hoping that I can help everyone and learn some stuff myself on the way...
    Cheers!! 8)
