Help with Keyboard-Motherboard ZIF Connector

I have a 1033CL Mini - I replaced the hard drive and in the process broke most of the motherboard-keyboard zif connector -
I am able to put the cable back in and close is with about half of the damaged zif but only abpout half of the keys work now -
I hate to have to buy a new motherboard to fix this problem -

The only fix I have ever seen is to epoxy the ribbon cable in there...apply some type of pressure while the cement dries...not a certain fix but you can't hurt anything trying it. You are likely going to need a new board and I hate to use you as an example but it illustrates why you should not casually try to repair a laptop. Even an experienced tech is one slip of the screwdriver away from a boat anchor. Think back to the old phrase frm WWII and gas rationing..."is this (repair) really necessary?"

NEED HELP with Keyboard for Yoga 2 Android Tablet

I have just spent more than an hour talking with Lenovo Sales/Customer Service tying to find out why the Yoga tablet I bought my son for Christmas doesn't have a keyboard (I purchased the tablet directly from Lenovo).

I called sales 4 times and each time I get a different answer: they are out of the keyboard, buy the keyboard from BestBusy or Amazon, there is no keyboard (even though it is pictured), it will have a keyboard but no one knows when.
I did buy the keyboard I was told by a chat with Lenovo from Amazon but it is not the correct keyboard and now I'm stuck with a tablet without a keyboard and keyboard without a tablet.
Customer Service won't help saying it's a sales problem and Sales says there is nothing they can do and transfers me to Customer Service. It is infuriating.
My son is so dissappinted. He only wanted this tablet because it came with a keyboard (we thought) and he can use it at school. We will likely return the tablet if it was misrepresented on the Lenovo webiste.
Does anyone know if and when the keyboard will be available?

The keyboard is also supposed to be a cover s seen in the photos. We bought the tablet because it clearly shows a keyboard case if not included at least available.
I was willing to purchase the keyboard cover but first Lenovo sales said they were out and said to purchase the keyboard (also Lenovo) at BestBuy instead but it turned out to be the wrong keyboard (not the one in the picture - too big, falls off and likely to break). Then I was told by someone else in customer service there was no keyboard and the picture is of the prototype. Then I was told by someone else in sales that there may be one coming out in the future but no one knows when and how much it will be.
Today I had to spend more than an hour being bounced around and not getting an answer. We really want the keyboard as shown in the picture. Unfortunately because we thought the folks in sales knew about the tablet, we bought the wrong keyboard at their instruction and now it can't be returned.

Can I get some help with keyboard shortcuts?

This is my first Mac and I'm totally converted. Excellent! But the transition from a Windows O/S has not been without its difficulties. One problem that eludes me is how do I (in either Pages or Word for Mac) go directly to the end of a line of text? In Windows, there's the 'end' key. Is there an equivalent in Mac? Can't seem to find it. Help would be appreciated.

a full mac keyboard does have the same home and end keys and they work the same way you are used to. on a laptop keyboard they are combined with left and right arrow keys. I'm not at my laptop right now but as i recall to get the home or end functionality you need to hold one of the modifier keys. try control+left arrow and control+right arrow for starters. or fn+left arrow and fn+right arrow.

Help with Keyboard Event

Hi, I am designing a drum machine in flash pro Cs6 actionscript 3.0 and I am trying to add a keyboard event that will trigger a button event that I have all ready created, I can create the event to play the sound but this is not what I want, can I call the click event so the button will move on the key event triggering the sound, here is an example of one of my buttons code... btn, thank you if anyone can help.

Thanks, this was the code I added in the end and it works nicely, It covers my sound and id3 aswell as Im displaying lcd text in a dynamic text box.

Help with keyboard problem

i spiled liquid into my keyboard and the backlit is all irregular each key has its own intensity how do i fix it

What kind of liquid?
Turn upsidedown so liquid can drain.
Absolutely do not try booting the MBP for at least 48 hours.
Depending on the details of the spill, you're probably going to want to remove the bottom cover to help the insides dry. Pointing a fan at it would be a good idea. Some people put it in a very large plastic bag with dry/uncooked rice in it the bag (not in the MBP) to attract the moisture. Here is some spill info:

this might sound a bit convulloted
my dad picked up a multimedia wireless keyboard from aldi
it's a Tevion
it's a keyboard and a mouse and a little transmitter
the second I plugged it in an set up assistant started up
saying "press key to the right of the shift button"
this was before I had put the batteries in the keyboard
I don' t know exactly what I did but the assistant disappeared
now I just can't find that assistant again
and the keyboard is just not communicating with the macbook now
however the mouse works without any need to do anything
can anyone shed some light on what I need to do?

Help with keyboard issue - some works, some doesn't. :(

Hi all - I hope someone can help me out. I have a iBook G4 that had worked like perfection up until yesterday, that's when my keyboard issue started.
Here's the issue:
The top row (function keys, num lock, volume, display) works just fine, the cap button light is stuck on - cannot be changed, and nothing else on the keyboard functions.
Here's what I've tried:
1) tried a restart - no changed
2) shut down and removed, checked, and then reinstalled the battery - no change
3) popped out keyboard to check underneath for debris, etc and then replaced back - no change
4) tried pressing down on each key to see if one was stuck - no change
5) tried to see if resetting my PMU would help (not sure if it actually took since I have to use the keyboard buttons + the power button), in any case it shut down, when I restarted still no change
6) called Apple tech - they put me in DOS (so apparently my "s" and apple key work) - however at the first prompt area my keyboard automatically began typing FFFFFFFF over and over again until the DOS command area was full, to which my iBook just sent me back into my op system/desktop.
This leads me to think something is just up with my cap and f key, however still no change in the situation.
7) going to the Apple store tomorrow.....
So has anyone encountered this? Is this something I can fix for free? My APP has expired by just 2 months and I am hoping I can avoid forking out money for this.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well, sorry about the delay in reading or replying to your post about this
keyboard issue; if you had an external standard Apple USB keyboard
(the white kind) on hand, that would've been good to see if the issue
was possibly just the computer's built-in keyboard. That also would've
given you the opportunity to choose keyboard commands to try and
work around that issue, if (by chance) the iBook's keyboard wasn't bad.
Single-user mode, or terminal/console, can give you access to the
system behind the graphic user interface of the OS X; or BSD unix.
That may look like DOS, but it isn't anyone's quick n dirty OS...!
Hopefully you were able to resolve the issue in a satisfactory manner
after traveling to the Store. What were they able to say or do about it?

I have an Ideacentere A310 ALL IN ONE AND iM LOOKING TO MAYBE GET A REPLACEMENT MOTHERBOARD BECAUSE THE POWER SWITCH IS BROKEN. i HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIGURE OUT WHAT TO LOOK FOR ON COMPUTER PARTS WEBSITES IT IS WAY OVER MY HEAD. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN TO ME IN VERY SIMPLE TERMS HOW TO FIND A REPLACEMENT MOTHERBOARD BECASUSE i have absolutely no clue. thank you

If the switch is physically broken then it can probably be replaced.

Hey, I'm currently unable to use the backslash "\" (Incase you wonder, I had to Google that and copypasta) key within any apps/tty1 or anything. At the moment all I get is "<" :L

Need help with the SAP Enterprise connector wizard at the NWDS

I am trying to create new proxy using the SAP Enterprise connector at the Netweaver Developer Studio.
The problem is that at the 2nd stage I am unable to connect to the server. Can someone please explain me in details:
1. Which tab should I chose there: Load balancing server or single server?
2. Which parameters should I enter there and from where can I take them (uch as System number...)
I tried to enter my server's parameters but I couldn't connect.

It depends on what type of R/3 server you are connecting. Usually development & Quality assurance systems for R/3 are not load balanced. You can find it out from your Basis people that server you are connecting is load balanced.
If it is not load balanced then the select the single server and enter the following parameters.
1. Host Name: Server Name (or ip address)
2. System Number: (00)
If it is load balanced then fill out all the information on load balancing tab.
You only need to fill one of the tabs. thank you.

Help with keyboard connection issue

I have a korg ms2000. i have a midi interface that i use convert midi to usb. so far i have successfully used it as a midi controller. my question is, is it possible to use it as an instrument and record the synth itself?
please help.

The cable you need would be separate plugs for whatever the Korg's outputs are (1/4 inch I assume) combining into a 1/8 inch stereo plug to go into the Mac.
I believe you have an Intel Mac? - then you need to set GB's prefs>Sound input to 'Built-in' and then go to System Prefs and set the sound input to 'Line In'.
If this still doesn't work try connecting the Korg to a hi-fi and make sure that it's outputs are behaving as expected.

Keyboard ZIF connector on G60-235DX

The end clips on the ZIF connector are missing; so how do you secure the connector to the cable and the board? I still have the remaining part of the plastic connecor.,

Okay, I've found some helpful links for other's in the same dilemma.

Note: If you look closely at your connector, you will see that there are two (2) rows of pins. The ribbon cable goes between them. I also, since the ribbon cable is very short (grrr), positioned the cable and then taped it in place. placing the tape as far back on the cable as allowed, so that I could have easy and free access to the connector. Also, the cable on the keyboard side is attached with an elastic glue. I GENTLY pulled the cable off of the the keyboard metal backing a LITTLE bit. This gave me more slack to work with.

Above is is not for the dv7, but pay attention to the part where the removal/opening of the zif connector is discussed. It may save you some aggravation.
The alternative is to have HP tech do it for between $250-$350. OUCH!

Dtm4 Keyboard Zif connector

I need to identify the zif connector for my dmt4 keyboard. I broke the black locking tab and need to buy a replacement connector so I can use the locking tab. Evidently there are diffeent types of zip connectors.

That is what I am trying to tell you. That information is not available. HP has the whole motherboard fabricated in China and there is no record available about there the assembler buys the components. Maybe you can find a picture of the motherboard and try to tell by looking what kind it is. Here is an eBay auction with a motherboard and a fairly large image so you can see the zif connector.
