Help with laptop not coming out of sleep right away

when i leave my macbook pro alone for a little and the screen goes a little dark to prepare for sleep, i click the mouse pad and it doesnt come out right away. whats wrong? it also does this sometimes when i close the laptop and open it.

push the power button lightly and if that doesn't do the trick manually shutdown the computer by holding the power button for 10-15 seconds then power ON and try running sw update

I've had my iPhone for 2 days. Saturday morning when I woke up, the phone would not come out of sleep mode. The phone was on, and would ring when a call came in, but the screen is blank. It wouldn't accept a hard restart for about 30 minutes. My husband was finally able to give it a hard restart. We thought it was a software glitch and was fine. This morning it's the same deal. But make sure that the screen isn't working. I had managed to get mine working, so they didn't believe me, one week later I show back up with the phone working, but no screen. Got changed out real quick at that point.

OS X 10.9.2 not coming out of sleep mode

Last week I updated my computer to OS X. Now I am starting to have issues. I am unable to wake my computer from sleep mode with my mouse or keyboard. I have to push and hold the power button for it to restart. Any suggestions or has anyone else had this?

Difficult to say what your issue is with not too much information. I would start buy doing some basics, Repair Disk Permissions (Disk Utility) 2-3 tiems, and reset the SMC and PRAM each 2-3 times. If you don' t know how to do the SMC & PRAM resets please click Intel iMac SMC and PRAM resets for instructions.

HP LaserJet P3005x will not come out of sleep mode

Printer will not come out of sleep mode (after being in sleep mode for an extended period of time (over 24 hrs)). When this happens, I can not ping the printer and pressing any of the buttons on the printer will not bring it out of sleep mode. I'm testing now to see if I can recreate this with the printer attached to my PC via USB.

I understand your monitor is not coming out of sleep mode. Take a look at the following support document, Resolving Problems with Sleep and Hibernate Modes (Windows 7). Step 3 might be of particular interest to you, as you mentioned your keyboard and mouse are not really working for you either. Perhaps it is another connected device that is causing the issue? It's hard to say what the problem is. One recomendation would be to drop usage of the database connectivity toolkit as it adds a lot of complexity and limits your options for troubleshooting problems. There is an alternative here. Read the discussion and download the drivers...
Also, what kind of database are you connecting to?

Locked out of machine after coming out of sleep mode (passwd not accepted)

single user setup
after waking up machine or coming out of sleep mode (i.e lifting lid) occasionally cannot login at all, password is refused. Multiple failed attempts. Its not a problem of caps lock on.
Only solution is to force power down of machine and then OS comes back up, HOWEVER, without demanding a password after power up (hardly very secure), afterwards it may work OK for a few days (with a number of sleep cycles) before same login problem happens again.
Is this a known problem?

Please do both of the following:
1) Turn the computer off. Press and hold shift. Turn the computer on. Continue to hold shift until you see the spinning gear below the Apple logo. Once it is started up, log in. Does it do the same thing here? If it works, please know this is not a fix, just an isolation step.
2) Test this in another user account on the computer. If you don't have one, create one in: Apple menu> System Preferences> Accounts. Click the lock in the lower left corner if it is locked and enter your password. Click the + just above the lock and type in "test" for all the fields it asks for. If you are on 10.4 or earlier, check off "Allow user to administer this computer". If you are on Leopard, make the account type an Administrator. Click "Create account". Click the Apple menu and select the last item ("Log Out" Account name). Log in as the test account and test. Note: You will have to set it to ask you for a password when waking from sleep (Apple> System Prefernces> Security> Require password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver)
Let me know the result of those tests. Please make sure to try both, as they will allow me to see what may be causing the issue.

Laptop coming out of sleep randomly

My laptop does not always stay in sleep mode. If I close the lid to put it to sleep, it will turn on in the latop sleeve in my backpack sometime later and get very very hot while depleting the battery. This is less likely to happen if I manually put it in standby mode before closing the lid. I have not been able to figure out what is causing the laptop to come out of sleep mode, so an alternative would be some sort of a failsafe. My laptop right now is setup to go to sleep if the lid is closed and the AC adapter is unplugged, but it seems that the event that triggers the power state change is the lid close as the computer will only go to sleep if the adater is unplugged before the lid is closed. Is there any way to force the computer into sleep mode if the lid is closed and the AC adapter is unplugged, independent of the lid close event? Perhaps a cron job that runs every few minutes would be more reliable.

The cron job could do it, or a systemd timer. But, why does it wake up?
I assume there is no access to the keyboard, so a kkey event should be out of the picture.
Do you have wireless mouse in the backback?
Does your phone associate with the laptop via Bluetooth? Any correlation of wake up to your phone ringing?
Could it be a WOL event?

Are you recording a mono signal to only one side of a stereo track? If so, change the "stereo/mono" (figure 8) at the bottom of the channel strip and it will go to center. Then pan at will.

Display is all snow coming out of Sleep mode

Just replaced a 17" LCD (using the mini-DVI-to-VGA) with a new Acer 24" widescreen LCD (using mini-DVI-to-DVI). After a little fiddling with the profile, I've got a pretty nice picture. Problem: coming out of sleep mode, the screen is all snow. If I pop the monitor off and on, everything comes back normal. I did NOT have this problem with the older 17". This is more of an annoyance than a major issue, since just a couple of hits of the on-off button correct it. But it ain't right, so I'm hoping I can fix it for good. It happens whether the Mini goes to sleep by itself or if I put it to sleep. I don't know if it's a DVI issue, monitor issue, or something goofy with the Mini's video.
I did a search and found similar issues, but not exactly the same, and saw no suggested resolutions that fixed them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

The 9400M device driver on our Macs appears to be really bad.
My buddy tried to put a Sharp LCD projector on the external port on his Mac laptop, which also had a Nvidia 9400M, and it was not usable. The picture kept coming and going. The projector screen would go blank, then a picture would come up, go blank, and then the picture would come back again, over and over. Being an experienced Mac, PC, and Linux user, I attempted to help him get it working using the display properties page in the System Preferences. Nothing helped.
I'm having similar troubles with the second port on my 9400M on my new Mac mini.
The primary display is fine. I have a 24" Acer LCD on the miniport to DVI converter for my second display, and it works most of the time, however the picture goes to snow fairly often, and blacks out sometimes, too. It usually comes back. Occasionally, I have to power cycle the LCD to get the picture back.
Seeing similar problems with two different DVI display devices, when these devices work fine on our PCs, seems to point the problem at the Mac Nvidia display driver.

Why does my MAC sometimes crash when coming out of sleep mode?

My mac freezea sometimes when coming out of sleep mode, and occasionally the screen will go black. At other times I will be using the MAC and it will just freeze. The only way to get out of it is to kill power and reboot. It seems to be happening more frequently.
It was suggested that I fix permissions and start in sleep mode. This has helped in the past, and I am going to do it again now. I also recently upgraded to 10.6.8, and after that the crashes were fewer, but now they are increasing again.
I am including a log of the recent crash a few minutes ago.

Okay thanks, but I am a newbie who is not a very tech kind of a person. The only periphals I have are a kodak camera dock, a Canon 310 copier/fax/scanner and a pair of altec speakers. How do I determine if they all have drivers for my MAC? They all seem to work okay, if that is a sign, though the Kodak camera Dock is a bit slow. How also do I determine if they are Apple energy compatible? With each of these peripherals, do I simply disconnect them from my MAC one at a time to see if there improvement?

BPM Collect pattern is not coming out and it is in loop.

We have implemented a BPM Collect Time pattern and it was working fine in Dev and QA environments perfectly. Couple of days back we have some server issue in Dev environment and Basis team has done some thing with File Storage. From that time, all our BPM's were not working in Dev. It is showing that the block is waiting for some event to trigger and it is in Process state. We have set it for 5 min and block is not coming out from loop. We exported the code to QA and it is working in QA. We tried SWU3 transaction as given in the below forum and it didn't help us.

If there is any system Exception then catch it.

Display issue coming out of sleep (w/ external display)

Hey everyone,
I've a MacBook Pro with Retina display. running 10.8.2 (and Win7 x64, via Bootcamp).
I somtimes experience trouble coming out of sleep with no external display connected, if the MacBook was connected to an external display when I sent it to sleep and the integrated display's brightness was turned all the way down. Basically, the MacBook's integrated display won't light up. I then need to hold down the power button until the machine powers off, and start it up again. Only then will the display come on, and the machine start normally.
I've been observing this with both an external Thunderbolt Display, and a TV connected through the HDMI port. I don't think this is a Mac OS issue, as I've seen similar behavior on this same machine, running Windows, under Bootcamp.
An example scenario: I'll be using the Thunderbolt Display, or watching a movie on my TV, with the integrated display's brightness turned all the way down, and then, while the display is still connected, I will close the lid - The machine will go to sleep. I will then come the next day, and while the computer is asleep, disconnect the external display, and open the lid. The MacBook's integrated display will not light up, the brightness keys will not respond, and I will need to force-shutdown the machine, and start it again - it will then start up, and usually fall back to the lowest display resolution setting (even though I always use much higher resolutions on both the integrated and external displays).
I'm guessing this is happening because the computer is expecting the external display that was connected to it, during its last operation, to still be available, and when it's not - it panics!
Also, I had times where this happened, and a force-shutdown would not do the trick. I had to actually connect back to the external display, wait for the machine to start normally, take the integrated display's brightness back up, and disconnect the external display. The machine would then resume normal operation, and I would be able to disconnect the external display and work on the integrated display.
Has anyone else experienced this, or anything similar?

VFL Speaker sound from both the front speakers while FR sound is not coming out at all.

I have a creative gigaworks s750 connected to a xtreme gamer sound card. The system was working absolutely fine but now it has started behaving very strangely; system is playing back Front Left Speaker sound from both the front speakers while Front Right sound is not coming out at all. If i click the front right speaker in audio console speaker setup wizard, no sound comes. However when i click the front left speaker, sound comes out of both speakers. I counter checked it with playing 5.1 dts movie and muting all the speakers except the front left one from ac3 filter, sound came out of both the front speakers. However when i muted all the channel except the front right, no sound was coming out of front right speaker.

Just want to add another relieved reader of this thread. I had lost the sound to my speakers even though I had sound to headphones. I was convinced it was a damaged headphone jack because I had pushed the headphone plug in harder the last evening when my wife complained that she could still hear the speakers while I listened with the headphones. The next morning--no speaker sound.
I spent a few hours searching the web to see how to disassemble a satellite A505 and get to the jack. But I wasn't even sure I could get a proper replacement jack that fit, and I was concerned that small damage, say to the ribbon connectors could render the computer useless--a large price to pay for just missing audio.
Fortunately, I stumbled onto this thread and I recalled I had put the unit to sleep the night before--something I don't usually do, but I didn't want all the Chrome web sites to have to reload so I just put it to sleep.
When I put it to sleep again and fired it up--Sound! I am so glad to find this solution so I just want to let people know it remains a viable option.
