Help with Lightroom 5

Hello, I am new to photography and Lightroom 5.
I just installed Lightroom 5 in my iMac from the Creative_Cloud. When I open the app., I get the following error message:
"An error occurred when attempting to change modules". When I press OK, it goes away and I get a blank gray screen.
The Library/Develop/Map/Book/Slideshow/Print/ Wed module buttons are displayed on the upper right side of the screen.
"Lightroom 5 Catalog.Ircat - Adobe Photoshop Lightroom - Library" is also displayed at the top center of the screen,
but nothing else.
What am I doing wrong?
I would like to import some photos into this catalog?
I have also downloaded Photoshop and that app. is working fine.

In Solution 5, I was able to verify that I have "Read & Write" priviledges,
so that did not help.
Solution 6 - I'm stuck. It suggests to Copy the Lightroom folder into a new user account or other existing account on your computer.
Then, restart Lightroom. The Lightroom folder is in the following locations:
Mac OS: [user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/
I am not that computer literate because this procedure seems confusing to me. I have located the Lightroom folder, but I am lost beyond
that. I don't know where the "new user account" is or the other "existing account".

well the reason I wanted to talk to someone live because it would take forever to explain everything on here But anyway, here goes. I have an HP Pavilion Notebook with Intel Core i5-323om CPU @2.60 GHz and 8 gb ram 64bit. I am trying to run Lightroom 5.7 on my laptop and having major issues. I use an external hard drive for the storage of my photos. When I try to use Lightroom I run into many issues: Flickering of the screen, freezing up, slow, the loading circle just goes round and round lol. If I go to the washroom or leave the computer for even a minute it freezes up. I have to keep pressing Ctr/alt/delete to bring it back when it flickers. I have to constantly exit out of the program and restart it to be able to edit even just a couple of photos and then it starts acting up again.
I have tried un-installing and re-installing, updating everything on my pc, changing compatibility settings, updating development settings, I even took the laptop into have it looked at and they did all kinds of updates etc...and still couldn't figure out why it wasn't working for me. I have gone through the lists of troubleshooting for LR problems and there just seem to be nothing that works.....I have made new catalogues, moved them, tried using the software on my pc without the EHD, etc etc.......I have tried EVERYTHING...I think.....so I was looking for some answers as to why this is happening....

Help with Lightroom

Using iMac and currently all my photographs are accessed via iPhoto. I decided I wanted something more sophisticated to organise and edit my photos, so yesterday I downloaded the trial version of Lightroom 5. It downloaded and appears to operate fine, but two problems have emerged.
Firstly you have to important your photos into Lightroom. For some reason Light room is not seeing or can not find any of the folders I've created over the last couple of months. So basically it not seeing or can't find all my phot folders.
Secondly, the photo folders it has found, some of the images are greyed out. All my photos are in jpeg format.
I hope this makes sense and one of you can offer me some advice.

Need help with Lightroom 5. How do I download?

I was able to download Adobe PS and Bridge, but not Lightroom 5. I purchased these items. They are not beta or trial. This is the error message I get. Please advise.

Hi, I am using windows and I have the latest updates for both Lightroom and Photoshop. Although everything has been working okay, now all my options are greyed out in Lightroom when I want to go - Photo, edit in, Photoshop. The only things that have changed recently are I am using a new camera (but Lightroom and Photoshop have updates for it, and I have downloaded trial versions of Snap Art 4, DXO ViewPoint2 and DXO Optics Pro. Does anyone know why my options to edit in are greyed out? And, how to fix it please? Thanks.

I think there may be other ways but as it's holidays there are less people around.
Pretty sure removing the Preference file won't help but you can try that first by shifting the file and if no change replacing it. Here is the way to locate them:

Help with lightroom error

I am getting a an error when I try to open my lightroom cc it says lightroom encountered an error when reading from it's preview cache and needs to quit can someone tell me what to do?

Hello, What I do is I open Lightroom 5.3 and go to 'Help' and go to 'Check for Updates' then click on it which brings up Lightroom Update Available (see image below) and as soon as I click 'Download' I get the error as shown above (in the other image). Hope this helps

Needing help with lightroom 3.2.

I bought and registered the lightroom version 3.2 just few days ago. It is registered february 21th. It worked well in the first day and an hour or two the next. But since than it opens never more. I did all that, what is usual in windows 7.
I just get the notification "Das Programm lässt sich nicht öffnen" and a black label with the words:" Lightroom Katalog a 19.1.12 023.jpg wird geöffnet". What can I do to make work the lightroom again? Thanks, when you trie! Marie

Help with Lightroom 5.7 crashing upon import

Hi,
I got Lightroom a few weeks ago and ever since I installed it, it has been crashing a few seconds after I open the Import screen. Interestingly, ONE time I was able to get it to import successfully, but the only thing I changed was running the program as administrator, and I've been able to successfully import again using the same technique. I read that this is a common problem, and commonly solved by unplugging one's phone, but I definitely don't have my phone or phone's USB cord plugged in, and I restarted my computer to make sure it didn't think I did have a phone plugged in, and I wasn't able to solve the issue. I unplugged all my other USB devices except for my external hard drive, which is where I'm trying to import my files to. The one time I did successfully import, I imported onto the same hard drive, so I don't think it's that either?gb
Any help toward solving this issue would be hugely appreciated. Having to copy 30gb worth of files onto my PC and then manually moving them into another folder using Lightroom is a tedious and time-wasting extra step
(edit: forgot to mention that if I turn off/unplug my camera (D5200), the program no longer crashes on import. If the camera is connected, even if I'm not trying to import from the camera folder and click on another drive, the program will still freeze after a few seconds)

i have just downloaded Lightroom from Creative Cloud which was successful, however now i am trying to launch the application and it will not open on my computer. I am wondering if this is something i am doing wrong or is this an issue with my system ?

After downloading Lightroom 4 software program, the computer asks what do I want to use to open the file? What do I use?

When request is to "run/save" program - I chose run. After download complete a
screen automatically appears and requests me to select from a droplist of
programs with which to "open" or "read" the program. These are programs already
on my computer such as "Internet Explorer" "Adobe Reader" "Microsoft Word" to
name a few. Of the list, none of them are really applicable and the ones I've
tried don't work.
Do not know the name of the file, or haven't noticed - screen makes request
automatically once download is completed.

Help With LightRoom Aspect Ratio Settings

I have created some custom Aspect Ratio settings to the crop tool but I now want to delete them as I entered them wrong.
Can anyone tel me how I can delete the custom ones I have made or reset back to defaults.
I am guessing they are written out to a file somewhere.

Help with Lightroom 4.4!

Several hundred RAW files were deleted from my hard drive. I had done a lot of editing and processing on them ready for delivery when it happened.
They show up in Lightroom 4.4 as missing files but the settings, metadata, and star rating are still there.
I have the unedited files backed up on an external hard drive but am having trouble applying the settings from the missing files to the backed up copies.
I had renamed the files ready for delivery when they went missing so the names are different from the backed up copies, the names of which are ex-camera.
Any suggestions on how I can save hours of re-processing would be appreciated, Matt.

What I would suggest is to make copies of the backup files, putting them into the location(s) where the deleted Raws were and then outside of LR changing their names to what the deleted ones had become. There are many applications (like Irfanview) that can do batch renaming to automate the job. Once the names are the same as what is listed in the LR catalog it should be easy to reestablish the connection, even if the location isn't quite right, by using "Find Missing Photo".

Help with Lightroom 4 backups

Hi! I am about to upgrade my OS in order to upgrade to Lightroom 5. I thought before that, I should check my LR 4 backups, and found there have been none ever since we upgraded to LR 4!!! I checked all preferences, and catalog preferences has "Backup on Exit" selected, but the backup dialogue does not come up when the program is exited. Anyone know what the solution is? Ta!

I dunno what the solution is, but I recommend making a manual backup of your catalog (i.e. just copy the lrcat file to backup disk - Lr must not have it open/locked).
Also, you can manually optimize catalog, if that still works (?) - see 'File' menu.

Help With Lightroom Customization

I'm from Brazil, and I need to use portuguese keywords and english keywords on the pictures... But the english keywords I put in the "IPTC - Subject Code" field (because I use portfolio to read the picture's info)
I want to know if there's anyway that I can use lightroom to check both keywords, in portuguese and in english.
Or if anyone knows any program that can do that (like lightroom, I can check a keyword and put it on every pic).

Only LOV fields on timecard can be made dependents based on other field value in the page. Check the timecard config paper for LOV component details.

HELP with lightroom 5.3 upgrade

ok, I've been using LR4 for over a year. I downloaded the free trial of 5.3 awhile back and it expired this evening. I purchased the upgrade from Adobe. When I try and install it I get an error that the release candidate of lightroom has expired. To recieve the lastest update click below. When I do that, it takes me back to where I purchased my upgrade. I've already done that!! So now what do I do?
