Help with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2

I created a form in LiveCycle Designer ES 8.2 with a digital signature field so that any one can open it and fill it in and add a signature in adobe reader x ver 10.1.3. However, any one that opens it gets an error that says, "the security settings on this document prevent adding text and/or placing a signature on it from Adobe Reader. To fill and sign this document you need to print it out." The whole point is to not print it out so how do I change the security settings so that anyone can digitally sign this document in Adobe Reader X?

The document additionally needs to be Reader-enabled with Acrobat Pro. In case someone else read this, Acrobat Standard is not capable of adding the digital signature usage right.

Only if the form has been Reader Enabled before it is sent out to the user with Reader.
There are two ways of Reader Enabling the form. One using Acrobat Standard v9 or Acrobat Professional v8 (both have license restrictions). The other is to use LC Reader Extensions ES2, which is a server product (additional costs).

Uploading pdf files created with LiveCycle Designer ES4

I uploaded some pdf files to my server that were designed with LiveCycle Designer ES4. I can open them directly from the server using my SmartFTP program, however when I
try to download using the URL, I get the following message:
Please wait. . .
If this message is not eventually replaced by the proper contenst of teh document, your PDF viewer may not be able to display this type of document.
You can upgrade to the latest version of Adobe Reader for Windows . . . .
I have both the latest version of Adobe Reader and Acrobat Pro XI installed on the computer.
Any thoughts??

Reader 11.0.07 does not display content of PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1

We use some PDFs created with LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1 which do not show any content when opened with Reader 11.0.07, only a blank display area or erratic copies of the screen behind it. Documents look fine in print preview though and also print correctly. Tried to change various security or display settings, no effect. Tried other machines, different hardware, different OS versions (Win7, Win8), same effect on every single device with 11.0.07 installed.
Any ideas, anyone?!?

Not sure why you are resolving the node (??), also I would not be inclined to include a period in the object name (.), maybe this is why you are resolving the node.
Also I don't see in the script where you are calling the instanceManager, in order to use the addInstance method.
Having said that the problem may be in the File > Form Properties > Defaults tab:
Check that Preserve script changes is set to Automatic.
Lastly is the form Reader Enabled? It would need to be for users with Reader to save the changes, including new instances of a repeating element.

Will I ever be able to open a PDF on my iPad that was created with LiveCycle Designer?

XFA (LiveCycle) support is a feature that is requested frequently. As such, it is something we are looking to provide some level of support for in a future release. If the Mobile Reader were to support Static XFA form fill-in, would this meet your needs? Or do you require additional features above and beyond this capability?

How to give reader extensions to a form created with LiveCycle designer

I make forms with "Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES 8.1" and then I give them somes rights.
I use the link http://172.16.1.35:8080/ReaderExtensions/index to give my forms rights, like (Basic form filling, Import and export form data, Submit outside web browser, Digital Signatures)
Since 2 weeks, this link doesn't work. I called Adobe Belgium and give them my licence key and they couldn't help me becasue they sayed that it's an old application.
Can someone help me please, it's an emergency.

Why do you need to change the connection string? What are you calling "connection string for a form"???
The only connection string I now about is the one used to connect to the UI API... and this one is fixed for all apps in debug mode and given as parameter when your addon is registered in B1.
The connection string is filled in the code of your generated addon.
Please go to the main class of your addon, in the main method you have the following code where the connection string is filled either with the command line parameters (release mode) or with the fixed value given by SAP. This code doesn't need to be changed...

Form created with Livecycle Designer with a SQL database - do you need LiveCycle Forms installed?

I'm REALLY hoping someone here can help me, I have spent over four hours on the phone to Adobe in the last 3 days and I'm getting no where what-so-ever. I can't even find out where /how to complain about it! (but thats another story)
Here's my situtation:
I work for a company with approx 140 staff. On one computer, we have Adobe Livecycle Designer ES installed, and we have used that program to create a form which has a link to a SQL database.
The link in this form doesn't work on the other computers which has the basic (free) Adobe Reader. From doing research within these forums
, I have found that the form will not work on other computers unless they have Adobe Livecycle forms installed on their machines.
What I need to know (and what they cannot seem to tell me when I call), is two things:
Is it correct that in order to use a form created in Livecycle Designer which has a link to a SQL database, that the machine must have LiveCycle forms installed?
How much does Adobe LiveCycle Forms costs?
PLEASE, if you can answer this question, I would REALLY appriciate it....

I presume you are asking if you need Livecycle Forms ES? Forms ES is a component of the livecycle software suite intended as a document service which will be installed on a server within the organisation. A couple of things this document service can do is to render XDP into multiple formats (PDF, html, etc.), execute script server side (for example the database connection) on behalf of the client (reader, etc.), integrate with backend components, etc. So no you do not install this on each client.
For database connections to work, you either have a server with Forms ES installed which can connect on each clients behalf (ie. Client->Forms ES Server->Database), or you have a reader-extended PDF to allow connections to be use in the free basic Reader (i.e. direct calls to the database or using web service calls to your own database components). However, reader-extended pdf would probably require Reader Extensions ES component installed on a server (you once off extend your developed pdf through this and then hand it out to each of the end users). Not sure if the Acrobat Reader extensions will cover this functionality since I have not tried that. I dont think it does. Otherwise you would need full acrobat on each client.
How much database integration is your form actually doing at the moment? read only? Full access? And how many clients do you expect to hit your database? Depending on what you need the form to do, there is always the option to try and build the integration yourself. Do simple http submits from the browser (hosting reader as a plugin) to some component somewhere which in turn hits your database. Wouldnt require additional licensing but alot more development work.
As for cost for the various components, thats a question only Adobe can answer for you since they all sit squarely in the enterprise space and licensing for that is not as simple as off the shelf products.
Maybe someone else has a view on it or has an alternative.

Data import for users of forms created with Livecycle Designer

Hello,
I have seen several posts regarding data import for forms created by Livecycle Designer but nothing that helps with something I am trying to accomplish. I can create a data connection and import information in a form but what I would like to do is import data, then send the pdf for completion to a user. There are a few data elements that I have available and the rest of the information comes from from the user. The problem I run into is once I create a data connection, the pdf is ALWAYS looking for the source file for that data. I simply want to prepopulate some fields and send to the various users for completion. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which type of Data Connection are you trying to create?
XML Schema, Sample Data File or WSDL?
Creating any one of first two types(mentioned above) will only create schema and will never import any data into PDF.
If you create the WSDL connection, you can surely import data (i.e. prepopulate data) into your PDF and forward it for users review/fill.
If I misunderstood your question, please get me clarified.

Display issue with LiveCycle Designer ES4 for cropped PDF in WIN7

Hi,
I am having issue displaying the cropped PDF file in the LiveCycle Designer ES4. The PDF files are cropped 3 inches from bottom using Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional. It used to display properly when we have a WinXP machine but once we moved to a Win7 machine, it cannot display the top part of the PDF anymore. Can anyone help on how to fix the display issue? I am having same issue with Adobe Acrobat 9. The Acrobat 9 cropped file is displaying properly under WinXP but have the same issue as above in Win7. This issue seems uncommon as I tried to look for similar issue and couldn't find any.
P.S. It's only the Design View in Win7 that has the issue, I can still see the file fine with Preview PDF in both enviornment.

Is it possible to build a "click to enlarge" option for images with Livecycle Designer?

Hello! I have built an audit form where the auditors report conditions and add photos by using an image field that when clicked, gives them a dialog box to choose a picture. The photos initially just load as a small image on the screen - a little bigger than a thumbnail and just large enough so you can see what they're talking about. However, I'd like to add an option that would allow the reader to click (or do something) which would enlarge or zoom the image, and then return to its initial smaller size.
I don't even know if it's possible and all my searching and reading hasn't come up with any solutions. The best I can come up with as an alternative is to build some pages at the end of the audit report called "Photo Gallery" and use the global data option to sort of feed in whatever pictures are added into a larger image place on those gallery pages. Not exactly what I was looking for, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

You could try having a custom dialog with a larger version of the image and then open the dialog when they click a button that covers the image on the form.

The dialog code used in the example was generated using the method described here ... Adobe LiveCycle Designer Cookbooks by BR001: Using app.execDialog() in an Adobe Designer Form
If your pictures are big then you will need another way of storing the image data, which is currently just a big JavaScript string literal, you'll see what I mean in the example.

Last year I designed a form (to PDF) within Adobe LiveCycle Designer (latest version). Now I'v upgraded to Adobe CC, but I don't find this programm. Instead I've got FormsCentral. How can I import this special PDF form into FormsCentral and keeping the filling-files, buttons?

Forms are forms. They don't change just because you upload them. While it has nothing to do with LiveCycle as such, FC should be able to open your frorm and convert it. In any case, ask such specific questions in teh relevant product forums.

Need help with security design!

Hi,
I haven't worked with security design very much. Currently I'm about to develop an application to my father which should implement some sort of security.
One of the reasons for this application besides making my father happy is educating myself.
The application is an online image album.
The security could be divided in role-based security and instance level security.
Role-based (NO PROBLEM):
A user cannot delete another user, an administrator can delete users.
Instance-level (DON'T KNOW HOW):
A user can load other users image albums if he/her is allowed/granted to view the album and its images. Note that the user could be granted to view the album, but not all of its images.
My problem is how I should design the "instance-level" security? Should I keep a ACL (Access Control List) with each instance of album and image?
This seems to be a common functionality to add view/load/read/write permissions to an instance in runtime to let a certain user to operate on an asset?
Have searched the Internet but haven't found any nice framework to help me.
Could anyone with some experience please help me out?!

Need help with class design

I want to design and use one or more classes for a particular project I am working on.
I need some advice hopefully from someone who has experience in this area. Basically,
for this particular problem I have two database tables. I want the first class to
represent the first database table and the second class to represent the second
database table. An object of the first class will be created first, and then if certain
criteria are met then an object of the second class will be created.
Question:
Should I use classical inheritance and let the first class inherit from the second class?

I and another developer did the database design. Pretty solid design. Plus we have all of the requirements
which are very good too.
Originally I wanted just one table to contain all of the data associated with a user. Instead of ET_UserData and ET_Detailed user data I wanted just one table. But I decided to break this table up into the two tables for the following reason.
1.) This is a web application where each user logs into a web form. At a minimum, in order to use the website the session associated with each user needs the UserName, Password, First and last name.
This is the data in the first table.
If they choose to do more specialized functions on this website, then they will need all of the information (Attributes) that are located in the second table. In general 40% of the time all users will need information located in the second table.
My reasoning for breaking the table into two seperate tables is that I wanted to minimize the amount of data involved in a result set, created from the sql query. The math tells me that 60% of the time most of the data in the result set will not be used.
2.) If I create one class to represent all of the data/attributes in both tables, then my reasoning is that their will be alot of overhead in the single class because 60% of the time, a majority of the attributes are not needed and used.
I would deeply appreciate your help with this. You seem to have great insight and advice. Please help me as I increase the duke dollars Sir.

Security issues with Livecycle Designer

In the past, I have been able to modify and change documents inside of Adobe Acrobat after creating the forms inside of LD. I've recently run into a problem where the security settings in Adobe Acrobat continue to advise that it is unable to make changes to the document, which prevent me from inserting or deleting pages. I was able to save documents into a .PDF format from LD without any issues before a week or so ago. I've searched high and low for an answer, but cannot determine why it would have suddenly changed
I'm using Livecycle Designer ES2. I've modified the program in several different ways, but none of them allow me to change the security settings to allow Acrobat to perform the functions that it used to.
Printing the document from LD into a PDF is not an option, as I still need others to have the ability to modify/add answers inside of the created forms.

If your form has been saved as dynamic PDF you have a XDP file in a PDF shell.
This kind of PDF (XFA form) is totally different to regular static PDF.
Acrobat simply does not allow to modify dynamic PDFs because it can't.

Example. I create one table with 32 rows and 8 numretic cells, and another table below with 1 row and 8 numretic cells.
In the big table i can input numbers and working fine.
now to my problem. Ex, i want to input number 12 in row 1 cell 3.and then again same number 12 in row 2 cell 3 and i want the result (24) in table 2 row 1 cell 3. is there anyboby who can help me with that See below
