Help with locating videocard on G4 900MHz Quicksilver

Hi all,
I'm trying to help a family member who lives far, far away, and is trying to add a monitor to her G4 900 MHz Quicksilver, OS 10.2.something. Can someone please tell me where that info is stored on OS10.2?
I got her to go to the System Profiler, but could not help her find anything on 'display' or 'graphics/displays'. I work on one of the new iMacs, with the intel processor and 10.4, and so can't help her locate this info.
Any help is muuch appreciated.

Are you trying to add a second monitor and connect it to an existing video card or are you wanting to add a second video card to run another monitor?
We're trying to add a second monitor - or possibly a small tv screen - to the G4. I've been on the apple discussion boards, and feel a little comfy asking questions, but I know nothing about using a second monitor. The few discussions I've read here ask the basic question of what kind of video card does the mac have - which I have not been able to answer since I am not yet physically near the computer. So I've tried to walk my partner through on the telephone, to no avail.
According to the link you provided, this G4 has an NVIDIA GeForce4 MX card. If you can point me in the direction that explains what else I might need to hook up either a non-flat screen monitor (so that colors in film editing don't look like crap on tv) or a small tv, I'd be most grateful. If not, I'll keep looking.

Using FIND MY IPHONE to help with locating MH370 casualties?

OK this may seem really silly (ok it definitely is) OR has already been done or not I don't know I just thought it was a pretty decent, simple idea that may or may not be of any help with the missing plane/people of the MH370. Icloud's Find My Iphone app has been of great use to me in tracking my phone, I'm sure it could be used in someway to see if they could locate the last known surroundings of any of the passengers. I'm a little obsessed with the whole story and my heart goes out to everyone involved in it but does anyone think this could work?

Only if the phone is switched on and connected to a network. Hard to imagine how this can happen if (a) the plane is under water or (b) has crashed/crash landed in a remote place such as a jungle or desert or mountains (c) if crashed likelihood is small items such as an iphone may well have been smashed/destroyed.
There's also the possibility the plane itself has some electronic device such as a transponder which would help in locating it. In all likelihood this too may have been destroyed.
You could have thought of this yourself prior to posting.

Help with locating my Mac with find my iPhone

My Mac was stolen and I uploaded find my iPhone to my phone. It has not located my computer yet and I am concerned that since I had to reset my password for icloud which obviously was not reset on my stolen computer, that find my Mac will not be able to locate it due to the resetting. Is this correct? Please help

I called Apple support. The good thing is they took my call and didn't charge me an applecare Pay-per-incident phone support.
Their suggestion is to reinstall Mountain Lion, original version.
I do that by:
Restart the mac with option key pressed down to get to "Start up manager"
In "Start up Manager" I am to Choose recovery HD
Under Recovery HD I am to choose the option to reinstall OS to install 10.8
He said it will take a good hour to reinstall, so I'll try tonight.
His guess is that when I originally downloaded Mountain Lion that a kernal was missing -- one that drives the mini port. If that's the case, Reinstalling the OS will fix the problem.
If that doesn't work, he is sending me to a mac store where they can boot my mac with an external drive -- and then they can check the hardware - the mini-port - to see if the problem is my mini-port or Mountain Lion.

It sounds like your iPad is not showing in Find my iPad when you check it. Take a look at this info from the following article named:

This can occur if:
The date on your device (iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch) is incorrect. Choose Settings > General > Date & Time to check and set the date.

Your iCloud account is not configured on your device. Choose Settings > iCloud and enter your iCloud account information.

Need help with locating a key using a value in a HashMap.

I am quite new to Java and programming, and am just learning this in High School (enjoying it thoroughly). Sorry if I don't respect the etiquette or formatting of this board (it's unintentional).
I am using the book, Objects First Wth Java A Practical Introduction Using Blue J and am working on extensively improving the "World of Zuul" project. Which is a text-based adventure game.
Here is a code sample;

method: getValue()xItemList is a HashMap with String keys, and Item values.
The relevant field of Item is name, which is a string.
The currentKey local variable is a little misleading, it is the current name, but acts as the 'key' when looking for the actual key.
changedName (if the parameter name is found from the item.getNames()), is what the method returns, the key associated with a object (by looking at the object's field).
My objective for this method is for it to have a name as a parameter, which it searches for in the HashMap (by Iteration over the entrySet - or I suppose iteration over Set values(), but this loses which object value is tied to which key, doesn't it?), and returns the respective key.
Any help would be very much appreciated (even if it is telling me that this can't be done with HashMaps!).

It's not clear to me what your question is, or if indeed you even have a question.
You seem to be having a problem with types. Iterators return Objects.
So in this line:
Item currentItem = (Item) iter.next().getValue();The iterator's next() method is returning an Object, and you're trying to call getValue() on that Object. But Object doesn't have a getValue() method. That would explain your error message. Map.Entry does; you apparently meant to call Map.Entry's getValue() method. You would cast the result of iter.next() to Map.Entry before you call getValue().
Also you're calling next() on your iterator twice in the body of the loop, which means you're getting two different values... this is probably not what you intend.
But you're making this more complicated than it needs to be anyway.
Why are you iterating through the set of entries in the HashMap?
The whole point of a Map is that you get an item using an object as the key. Just do xItemList.get(name). Right?

Help with Location Services.

Just got an iPad (MD510LL) The device can't determine my location, on any app. Everything that is suppose to be on, is set. I even went as far as reseting all settings and still no cigar. I have access to the internet and I have no issues in that department. I am using an air card with Verizon.

Help with locating photos if they are stored

I had my computer dumped and cleaned due to a ton of Trojans I told the computer tech that I had over 2000 photos on the adobe Photo Album started Edition, and to my surprise the idiot did not back up my photos from this location. Now that I have my computer back and can not download this Album starter due to it being discontinued. is there anyway I can find these photos? Please tell me they are saved on the Adobe server and if they are how do I find them if I can no longer down this program and transform them to the photoshop.com? These pictures did not save to a folder in my computer they were saved in the folders on the album starter edition and they were named. All of my sons baby pictures were in this program I am devistated. Please Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wish I could tell you that Starter Edition did back up your photos online, but unless you specifically created a Photoshop.com account and pushed the files up there, they were not backed up online.
If you download your pictures directly into Starter Edition, the default folder where all those files are copied is into your My Pictures folder, into an Adobe folder. If you can find that folder, then at least the images that were downloaded by Starter Edition would be there.

Help with locating and moving archives

Hi all, not sure where to post this but here goes.
We are currently planning to centralize all archives to one server as they are quite disparate at the moment. I have a program that finds the locations of the archives from groupwise but the issue is some are on the network and some are on the local drives. Of course d:\archives means nothing to most people as the pc name is required to locate. Is there a program that can automate the location and relocation of archives??? Id hate to have to locate over 300 archives manually

You could write one, but realize it wouldn't work well for 2 reasons.
1. It would have to run while the user was logged on, on their
workstation or it might not have rights to the right mapped drive.
2. Consolidation is not always wise. In fact it is a recipe for DISASTER
if you are not careful. You must create a structure like this
BASE\PO\<archive>
in short, a base directory, followed by a subdirectory PER po.
Why? Remember the archive stores stuff by FID, not GUID. FIDs are OnLY
unique per PO, and clash fairly often in practice otherwise. You do not
want that- you will lose mail that way!

Help with location of SWF on a web server

I need help. I have a SWF file that calls other sWF files on
same folder on the web server. However, when i call the SWF in the
html object, i point to the relative folder where the SWF are:
<param name="movie" value="/folder_swf/demo.swf"
But this html is generated automaticly in PHP and the php
file in on the relative fodler bin. The SWF is loaded but when the
SWF tries to load the next SWF files, it does not find then (it
check on the bin folder instead of the foldeR_swf). In the
actionscript on the loadMovie i only have the "file.swf" , no path.
Can anyone tell me how to make this to work?

Instead of the LoadMovie, is there a way to do it on the html
object declaration? Most of the times, i have to use swf made other
persons and i do not want to have all of the SWF files in the bin
directory because it is where are generated the dynamic html pages?

Do you have Photo Stream enabled with your iCloud account on your computer?
iCloud is temporary storage - limited to 1,000 photos and 30 days for each photo.
Photos/videos in your iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera especially before installing an iOS update.

Lets run down a list of possibilities:
1) You are using iTunes 6 here, correct?
2) You did not say whether or not you are running in auto-sync, manual management, or "Enable Disk" mode. If you left it in the default mode as installed (auto-sync), then after dropping your movies into iTunes (or adding them to the Library), simply connect your iPod and allow it to auto-sync (mirror) the current contents of iTunes. (You can also try "Update iPod" option under the File menu, but I have found it unreliable -- possibly owing to "sleeping" iPod.)
3) Not sure if your reference to "dropping the movie on the iPod" is a reference to the iPod desk icon in manua/disk enabled mode or the iPod "Source" reference/associaed contents list in iTunes. Could you clarify where you are attempting to "drag 'n drop" and/or the selected sync mode of operation in your iPod Preferences.
4) As to conversion to iPod compatible formats, recommend you stick with MoviesForMyPod and/or iSquint if you are restricted to QT Pro 6 and not sure what settings to use for MPEG4 preset collection/QuickTime Movie full manual mode.
