  • Need help with Mountain Lion downgrade to Snow Leopard

Recently upgraded to Mountain Lion, my daily applications do not work and i am losing patience, I need help downgrading to snow leopard, i have the snow leopard CDS that came with my mac
    ***detailed instructions help***
    my mac specs
    macbook pro 13" early 2011
    My time machine
i have a backup with mountain lion, and i also have a backup from snow leopard,(my goal is to restore my latest backup from mountain lion to snow leopard)
i have backed up my files using time machine AND justcloud
My question is how, i do not want to lose any data, also is there any thing i need to be aware during this process

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
    1.  Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button.  When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
    4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner 3.4.1.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion files.

  • Help with mountain lion download

I bought the new imac on the 1st september and with my purchase i got a free mountain lion download. The helper set up my imac so that when i set it up at home, the software would start downloading. It has now been downlaoding for three days straight- the wi-fi/internet connection is fine- and the download has barely even started, in fact it hasnt progressed for three days. I do not want to buy the mountain lion software because i got it for free so i was wondering if there is any way i can restart the download? All advice is welcome

  • IWork doesn't work anymore with MacOSX Lion...

I had iWork '09 on MacOSX Snow Leopard and than I choose to install lion and was all right than I reinstall Lion because was really slowly. I didn't find all the iLife '11 and iWork. With iLife'11 I reinstall it from the TimeMachine Backup but I tried with iWork'09 and when I open Pages, Numbers or Keynotes there is a message that says:
Pages cannot be opened because of a problem.
Check with the developer to make sure Pages works with this version of Mac OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any avaiable updates for the application of Mac Os X.
I tried to download the last update but nothing change, and if I wold install it again would mean t buy again all 3 of them....
    Thanks, Luca

Luca - uninstall iWork by using Yvans script.
    Go to Yvans iDisk :
    <http://public.me.com/koenigyvan>
    Download :
    For_iWork:iWork '09:uninstall iWork '09.zip
Expand the archive and run the script.
Install iWork from the dvd you have.
Then do the Software update check and install the updates. Otherwise it will not work.

And Adobe Connect goes crashign everywhere.
Please solve this bug, because we work with your software and is absolutely inacceptable that everytime we have to wait weeks or months to solve bugs.
The software should be updated before Lion new version goes public.

  • Help with Leapord/Lion

Still using Mac OS X, (10.5.8)  do I need to download Leapord to download Lion?  And will I get worthy imprivements?

Lion will require at least 2gb of RAM but really needs 4gb to run smoothly. Also Lion doesn't run any PowerPC programs. To see if you have any Power PC programs go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select AboutThis Mac, then click on More Info. WhenSystem Profiler comes up select Applications under Software. Then look under kind to see if any of your applications are listed as Power PC . Universal and Intel will run under Lion.
Before Mac switched to Intel processors they used Power PC processors from 1994 to 2005. PowerPC 601 through 604, G3, G4 and G5. Applications written for the PowerPC processors need an application called Rosetta to run on Intel processors. This was part of the Operating System in 10.4 and 10.5 but was an optional install in 10.6. With 10.7 Lion Apple dropped support for the the Power PC applications.
If you want to use the four finger gestures you'll need to have to glass trackpad. With MacBooks it's only the Late 2008 model 5,1 Aluminum Unibody and the Late 2009 model 6,1 and Mid 2010 model 7,1 White Unibody that have the buttonless multi-touch glass trackpad. The Early 2006 model 1,1 through Early 2008 model 4,1s plus the Early and Mid 2009 model 5,2s had the button trackpads.

  • Need Help with Mountain Lion

I just purchased my IMac on July 10th.  I was told that when the new Mountain Lion operating system was announced that I did not have to pay for the new Mountain Lion within 30 days from purchase.  How do I go about this. When I tried to download it says I have to pay $19.00

The date is actually July 11. Read here >  Apple - See if you qualify for a free OS X Mountain Lion upgrade.
It's not from 30 days or purchase...
You may qualify for the Up-to-Date Program if you bought your Mac from Apple or an Apple Authorized Reseller on or after June 11, 2012.

  • Help with Mountain Lion Install!

    Hi
I've just brought a Crucial M4 SSD and want to install it in my Mid-2009 Macbook Pro running OSX 10.8.2.
I have all my data backed up on my Time Capsule and just want to do a clean install on the new SSD to start afresh, however I do not have a copy of OSX 10.8 on a USB and don't want to pay for it again in order to get one.
If I 'Reinstall OSX' on the current HDD in recovery mode, when it downloads will it give me the opportunity to make a USB copy, or will it just install striaght away?
What is the best way for me to get OSX 10.8 on to the new SSD?
I don't have or want to buy an external HD enclosure, otherwise I may as well just buy the OSX...
Any help would be very much appreciated!
    Thanks
    Stuart

I've just had a look on Amazon and suprisingly I can get a USB HD encolsure for £4...
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hard-Drive-Caddy-Case-Enclosure/dp/B003MVW2SM/ref=pd_sim _computers_4
Is it therefore worth me just buying this and then copying my current HDD to the SSD and then doing the recovery reinstall of OSX from the SSD?

  • Help with Mountain Lion disk space!

    Hi All,
Recently Upgraded the ol' iMac from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard, and then Mountain Lion. All went well, but I found everything sluggish after the update. I figured the 4GB RAM and Duo Processor are party to blame, but when I looked at my Disks I found Macintosh HD 2 just sitting there, staring me in the face. Here's a screenshot:
    http://postimage.org/image/sgzvwhohv/
Anyways, I don't understand why I have two disks, especially since there is still a lot of space left.
Could someone please explain how to merge these two spaces back together?

    Your disk has been partitioned
Try http://pondini.org/OSX/DU4.html to remove the second partition

  • Please help with osx lion update

why doesn't my osx lion show up after I already installed it? It also never charged me the $30..?, why doesn't my osx lion show up after I already installed it? It also never charged me the $30..?

Well, let's see if we can figure out which OS version you're running: Go to the Apple, click on it, and then on
about this Mac. In the new window, please click on the text underneath the Mac OS X and post it here (if you click on that long enough, you'll get your serial number - don't post that); just post the Version # 10.x.x
Edit: You purchased this new in late 2011? If so, you would already have Lion installed on it....

  • Help with Mountain Lion installation?

I have just attempted to upgrade my mid 2010 MBP from Snow Leopard to Mountain Lion.
I did a time machine backup before I started. Then dowloaded ML as usual from the app store and followed the prompts.
However after my computer restarted, this screen popped up. Is this usual? What option should I choose? Will the time machine backup just restore Snow Leopard, or will the reinstall of OS X not restore all my files etc?

That's not normal. After the installation, your computer should simply reboot as usual, not into the Recovery partition (which was created when you installed Mountain Lion).
Try rebooting and hold down the option key to see if you can boot to your 'normal' drive and NOT into the Recovery partition.
