Help with movie settings

I thank you in advance for your help with this!
My website address I have a question about is
www.holyredeemernorthbend.org
and I have a question about the movie section.
I am using iWeb to build my church's website. All is well except the movie page. I have only one movie uploaded so far, my old site had 6, each between 6 and 10 megs. On the old site I used microsoft Frontpage. The videos, all in WMV format, worked flawlessly. They used to download in Windows media player, and played immediately, but now that I am using iWeb they have to download before watching, AND if it is a Mac owner visiting the site they have to have flip4mac installed as a Quicktime plugin. PC users can't see them at all.
It's not a problem for me to export the videos in another format, I would just like some help with the most universally excepted settings. I don't care if it's Quicktime, Flash, or Windows Media. What would be best for most internet users? And, can you put a movie on an iWeb made site, that will load into Windows Media Player as an option to quicktime? That is to say if I were to give the viewer a choice.

iWeb writes page code that forces the QuickTime browser plug-in be used. Since your file is:
http://www.holyredeemernorthbend.org/HRWeb/Media/Father%20Kies.wmv in Windows Media Player format Mac visitors must have Flip for Mac (I don't use it) and PC users can't use QuickTime to view WMP files.
You can use iWeb to make a "direct" link (link to file). When the viewer click the link they would be able to download the WMP file. This would allow PC visitors to use Media Player and Mac visitors use Flip for Mac or Windows Media Player for Mac.
Since iWeb forces QuickTime formats you should convert from .wmv to .mov formats to make your work easier.

  • WRT310N: Help with DMZ/settings (firmware 1.0.09) for wired connection

    Hello. I have a WRT310N and have been having a somewhat difficult time with my xbox 360's connection. I have forwarded all the necessary ports (53, 80, 88, 3074) for it to run, and tried changing MTU and what-not.
    I don't know if I have DMZ setup incorrectly, or if it's my settings.
    Setup as follows:
    PCX2200 modem connected via ethernet to WRT310N.
    The WRT310N has into ethernet port 1 a WAP54G, and then upstairs (so that my Mother's computer can get a strong signal) I have another WAP54G that I believe receives its signal from the downstairs 54G.
    In the back of the WRT310N, I have my computer connected via ethernet port 3, and my Xbox 360 connected via ethernet port 4.
    Now, I first figured I just have so many connections tied to the router and that is the reason for being so slow. However, when I unplug all the other ethernet cords and nothing is connected wirelessly, except for my Xbox connected to ethernet port 4, it is still poor. Also, with everything connected (WAP54G and other devices wirelessly) I get on my PC and run a speedtest.  For the sake of advice, my speedtests I am running on my PC are (after 5 tests) averagely 8.5 Mbps download, and 1.00 Mbps upload, with a ping of  82ms.
    Here is an image of the results:
    http://www.speedtest.net][IMG]http://www.speedtest.net/result/721106714.png
    Let me add a little more detail of my (192.168.1.1) settings for WRT310N.
    For starters, my Father's IT guy at his workplace set up this WRT310N and WAP54G's. So some of these settings may be his doing. I just don't know which.
    "Setup" as Auto-configurations DHCP. I've added my Xbox's IP address to the DHCP reservation the IP of 192.168.1.104. This has (from what I've noticed) stayed the same for days.
    MTU: Auto, which stays at 1500 when I check under status.
    Advanced Routing: NAT routing enabled, Dynamic Routing disabled.
    Security: Disabled SPI firewall, UNchecked these: Filter Anonymous Internet Requests, Multicast, and Internet NAT redirection.
    VPN passthrough: All 3 options are enabled (IPSec, PPTP, L2TP)
    Access Restrictions: None.
    Applications and Gaming: Single port forwarding has no entries. Port Range Forwarding I have the ports 53 UDP/TCP, 88 UDP, 3074 UDP/TCP, and 80 TCP forwarded to IP 192.168.1.104 enabled. (192.168.1.104 is the IP for my xbox connected via ethernet wired that is in DHCP reserved list)
    Port Range Triggering: It does not allow me to change anything in this page.
    DMZ: I have it Enabled. This is where I am a bit confused. It says "Source IP Address" and it has me select either "Any IP address" or to put entries to the XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX to XXX fields. I have selected use any IP address. Then the source IP area, it says "Destination:"  I can do either "IP address: 192.168.1.XXX" or "MAC address:" Also, under MAC Address, it says DHCP Client Table and I went there and saw my Xbox under the DHCP client list (It shows up only when the Xbox is on) and selected it.
    Under QoS: WMM Enabled, No acknowledgement disabled.
    Internet Access Priority: Enabled. Upstream Bandwith I set it to Manual and put 6000 Kbps. I had it set on Auto before, but I changed it. I have no idea what to put there so I just put a higher number.
    Then I added for Internet Access Priority a Medium Priority for Ethernet Port 4 (the port my xbox is plugged into).
    Administration: Management: Web utility access: I have checked HTTP, unchecked HTTPS.
    Web utility access via Wireless: Enabled. Remote Access: Disabled.
    UPnp: Enabled.
    Allow Users to Configure: Enabled.
    Allow users to Disable Internet Access: Enabled.
    Under Diagnostics, when I try and Ping test 192.168.1.104 (xbox when on and connected to LIVE), I get:
    PING 192.168.1.104 (192.168.1.104): 24 data bytes
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    Request timed out.
    --- 192.168.1.104 data statistics ---
    5 Packets transmitted, 0 Packets received, 100% Packet loss
    Also, when I do Traceroute Test for my Xbox's IP, I just keep getting:
    traceroute to 192.168.1.104 (192.168.1.104), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets
    1 * * * 192.168.1.1 Request timed out.
    2 * * * 192.168.1.1 Request timed out.
     As for the Wireless Settings, it is all on the default settings with Wi-Fi Protected setup Enabled.
    To add, I have tried connecting my modem directly to the Xbox and my connection is much improved. I have no difficulty getting the NAT open, for it seems my settings are working for that. Any help with these settings would be VERY much appreciated.

    I own 2 of these routers (one is a spare) with the latest firmware and I have been having trouble with them for over a year.  In my case the connection speed goes to a crawl and the only way to get it back is to disable the SPI firewall.  Rebooting helps for a few minutes, but the problem returns.  All of the other fixes recommended on these forums did not help.  I found out the hard way that disabling the SPI Firewall also closes all open ports ignoring your port forwarding settings.  If you have SPI Firewall disabled, you will never be able to ping your IP from an external address.  Turn your SPI Firewall back on and test your Ping.

  • Help with sequence settings in final cut for project with 2 different frame rates.

    I really need help with this one! I finished editing a wedding video and realized after exporting that it was filmed in two different frame rates. This has happened before but I converted the footage to match and fixed the problem. In this case, the footage is part 30fps and part 60fps. The majority of it was filmed in 30fps. I cannot convert the 60 to 30 without the slow motion effect which I do not need so I have to find a way to burn this to a DVD without it looking messed up! The video was shot with two Canon 7ds if that helps anything. The first sequence I set at 29.97 and exported as a quicktime movie and all the footage filmed in 60 looked perfect and the footage in 30 looked jittery. Then I tried the sequence at 59.97 and it switched. The footage filmed at 30 looked good and the 60 was cropped in. I am so confused! Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks for your help Michael! The frame rates are 29.97 1920 x 1080 and 59.94 1280 x 720. I did a control click on the clips in final cut and viewed the item properties/format to find this info. The Canon 7d is a DSLR but we use it for video. As for my workflow, the first thing I do is import the footage onto my computer and then drag the clips into mpeg streamclip. I choose apple prores 422 and uncheck the interlaced box. Once this is done I import the .mov files into final cut. The sequence automatically sets itself to whatever clip I drag in first so it originally set as 29.97. When I finished editing wedding video, I export it to a quicktime movie and choose whatever settings match the sequence, in this case apple prores 422 1920 x 1080 30p. Once that is done I use iDVD to burn the discs.
    I knew something was wrong when I watched the quicktime movie and all the 30fps footage was jittery and most of the cross dissolves looked strange. That's when I figured out the footage was at two different frame rates. What I don't understand is why whatever the sequence is set at in final cut, the clips of the opposite frame rate look right but the clips set at the matching frame rate don't???

  • Need help with export settings...Please

    I am brand new to the camera I have but been using FCP for 6 years. The camera is a Panasonic HMC150 that records in the AVCHD codec. I have an Intel Imac 20 2.4 Ghz 4 gigs of ram. My audio/video settings for the sequence in FCP are as follows:
    Sequence pre set: Apple pro Res 422 1920-1080 60i 48khz (footage is 1080 60i)
    I Log and Transfer with no problem, edit no problem.
    My question is when I go to export the finished sequence to Idvd or DSP, what settings do I use?
    I have exported to quicktime movie file with "current settings" and I have had NO luck in compleely burning a DVD. Is this the correct setting? what is everyone else using? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    DVD is standard definition. You have to compress your HD material to SD first. Crack open the manual for Compressor or DVDSP and you'll get loads of valuable info. The first 30 or so pages of the DVDSP manual are quite informative, and easy to read.

  • Looking for help with movie loading in a different spot every time page reloads.

    Hello,
    I have a Flash movie that I need to jump to a one of 6 chosen frames when say a user hits the back button or home in the site. I just dont want the same user seeing the flash movie replay in the same spot everytime they go back to home.
    ANY help with this is appreciated.
    Thanks ahead of time.

    Here is what I have scripted:
    var numbers:Array = [2,114,415,687,960,1195,1485];
    _root.firstTime = true;
    if(firstTime) {
        firstTime = false;
        var frame:Number = Math.floor(Math.random() * numbers.Length);
        gotoAndPlay(numbers[frame]);
    I have also tried this:
    Array.prototype.shuffle = function() {
    for (var ivar = this.length-1; ivar>=0; ivar--) {
    var p = random(ivar+1);
    var t = this[ivar];
    this[ivar] = this[p];
    this[p] = t;
    ASSetPropFlags(Array.prototype, ["shuffle"], 1, 1);
    var Array_ar:Array = new Array(2,114,415,687,960,1195,1485);
    Array_ar.shuffle();
    index = 0;
    function load_random() {
    gotoAndPlay(Array_ar[index++]);
    if (index == Array_ar.length) {
    (index=0);
    load_random();
    But this keep jumping to frame 1 each time i hit back or refresh.
    Thanks again.

    That did not work. It loops back to the frame that it first loaded to not to frame 1 the beginning.
    It tried putting gotoAndPlay(numbers[frame]); on the very last frame, then I made a new keyframe after the very last frame and neither worked.

  • Help with display settings needed urgently

    Graphics and icons that are supposed to be round appear oval. For instance the Safari and App icons on the dock appear very oval. Logos on websites I've visited before and I know are round appear oval.
    I've tried all display settings and nothing helps. I'm a designer and this is causing a major hinderance. Everything appears condenced / squashed sideways. I'd be very grateful if someone could help with this.
    I've just purchased the laptop. I have been using Mac for a few years and I've always selected the "stretched" option from the Display settings which sorted out the problem completely. A circle looked a proper circle. But in this version the option is not available.
    Badly hoping someone can help with this.
    Thanks.
    Version Details - OS X Lion 10.7.4

    It sounds like you have selected an incorrect resolution.  For starters, are you talking about your Air's display or an external display?  You haven't said which Air you have.  If you have an 11" model, make sure your display resolution is set to 1366x768.  If you have a 13" model, it should be set to 1440x900.  These are the proper resolutions for the built in displays.  Chosing anything other than the referenced "native" display resolutions will result in distortions or clarity problems.

  • Help with PAL settings for Sequence

    Hi –
    I’m having some issues with a PAL project and need some help with the right sequence settings. I have 3 camera angles that are all PAL that I am trying to edit together in a multi-clip sequence and everytime I add anything to the timeline I am getting the red render bar. I've tried all different PAL settings but nothing is working. Here are the specs of the DV clips:
    Frame Size : 720 X 576
    Vid Rate – 25 FPS
    Compressor DV-PAL
    Data Rate – 6.9mb/sec
    Pixel Aspect – PAL – CCIR-601
    Audio 48Khz
    Aud Format – 32bit – Floating Point.

    From the menu bar: Final Cut Pro > Easy Setup. What setting is selected there?
    From the menu bar: Sequence > Settings. What setting is selected there?
    In both cases they should be set to DV PAL.

  • Help with FMLE Settings for Sports Broadcast

    Hello,
    I am in need of some help tweaking my settings in FMLE.  I put on various sports broadcasts, but one of my clients has limited bandwidth (avg ~2.5-3mbps upload).
    I'd like to keep the output pixel size at 640x360 so that it takes up our entire player and doesn't letter box it, but with the larger video size I sometimes run in to either buffering,or pixelated video depending on how the bandwidth is that particular day.   I'd like to stream between 800k-1000k.
    I am using VP6 codec and using an Osprey Card as my capture device.
    Some of my questions are:
    1) Should I capture my video bigger than 640x360 and have FMLE shrink it, or capture it at the same size I want to output it at?
    2) In the Format advanced encoder settings, What should I set as my keyframe, quality, and datarate window.  Ideally I would like to use keyframes every 1-2 seconds because I work with fast-paced video, but I know that sends a lot of extra data.  Same with Datarate Window.  Can someone help explain the significance of this one.
    3)Under the output panel, I am not currently using the auto adjust function.  Should I enable this when my bandwidth takes a hit?  If so, which is preferable, dropping frames or degrading quality? Any explanation wuold be very helpful.
    4)Should I deinterlace my video?  We have a 3-camera shoot using Canon XL2's and a DataVideo Switcher.  Everything is analog SD.
    I am able to drop by bitrate down to 600K and the stream does not buffer, but it starts to get pixelated.  I would think that 3mbps upload bandwidth is enough to stream at 800k.   Any help adjusting my settings to shapen the imagine would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    1) Should I capture my video bigger than 640x360 and have FMLE shrink it, or capture it at the same size I want to output it at?
    --> Always capture at the same size, unless the device/card doesn't support that size.
    --> Data rate window is useful for unexpected source data that might not encode well within the specified bit-rates. For example, if you set data rate window to "tiny" and a complex frame (source data) arrives, then encoder will not allocate some extra bits to encode that frame in good quality. But if you set the window to huge, then that complex frame will be encoded in good quality by allocating more bits to it. So, basically, the "delta" around the specified bit-rate increases on moving from "tiny" to "huge" data rate window. Your output bit-rate will vary more in case of "huge" setting.
    3)Under the output panel, I am not currently using the auto adjust function.  Should I enable this when my bandwidth takes a hit?  If so, which is preferable, dropping frames or degrading quality? Any explanation wuold be very helpful.
    --> I can explain the difference between the 2 options and you can experiment with both and stick to one, which gives a better user experience under your bandwidth conditions.
    a. Once the auto-adjust feature triggers, Drop frames option will intelligently drop some frames. As a result of this, you might observe video stalling depending upon the severity of the bandwidth conditions.
    b. Once the auto-adjust feature triggers, Degrade quality option with a min. video bit-rate value of say 500 kbps will try to encode all the frames within this 500 kbps limit. As you are reducing the bit-rate from the original value of say 800 kbps, the quality is bound to degrade. If you check the "preserve per frame quality" option then the encoder will encode >=50% of the frames within the specified bit-rate of 500 kbps. As the no. of frames are less the per frame quality will be better than the previous case. There is a possiblity that even after degrading quality, the buffer is exceeding the given limit then the degrade quality option will automatically switch to the drop frames option.
    4)Should I deinterlace my video?  We have a 3-camera shoot using Canon XL2's and a DataVideo Switcher.  Everything is analog SD.
    --> Deinterlace option is only available for video sizes >= 640x480.

  • Help with print settings for Panoramas

    Hi,
    I use an Epson 2880 and I am trying to figure out the print settings for doing an 11 x 34in panorama print on 13" roll paper from Aperture 3.0.3. I finally got it to do one print properly, but the setup was totally counter intuitive and I can't reproduce it. I tried using "Custom" Paper size and setting it to 13" x 36", then using the landscape mode and setting the Image Size to 11 x 34". Any way I did this ended up with the image printing the wrong way on the paper. So I went back and picked "Roll" paper. This leaves only one field to fill in, which I presume is the paper width (it really didn't make this obvious in the dialogue.). Then I set the mode to Portrait, and made sure that the settings for the Image size were 11 x 34. It then printed fine. But when I went back to print another file, even though I had saved the settings, now I am presented with only one box for specifying the Image Size and there is no way to get it right again. HELP! The settings for this kind of print in Photoshop is also counterintuitive, but when you get it set right, and you know the settings, no problem reproducing it. I think maybe there is a bug in AP3 with regard to this sort of setup.

  • IMovie to Quicktime using expert export settings - help with size settings

    I want to produce PAL DVDs in widescreen format using iDVD. The original video was recorded in standard size and I want to use iMovie HD to produce Quicktime movies for these DVDs.
    I am using the expert settings to export to Quicktime files. I am using H.264 compression.
    It is the size settings that I need your advice.
    Which do I use? PAL 720x576 4:3, or PAL 720x576 16:9, or one of the HD settings?
    Do I preserve aspect ratio?
    I have looked through many posts, etc but none readily answers my issue with size settings.

    Yes - footage is in 4:3
    I want to show the DVDs on widescreen TVs but not sure if TVs automatically adjust 4:3
    movies into widescreen ratio (say with letterboxing).
    For my standard footage video,I guess I am not sure of what ratios I should be using at the iMovie export to QuickTime stage, and then whether to set the iDVD project into 16:9 format, or leave it in 4:3 format and hope to widescreen TV do the converting.

  • Help with Audio Settings

    I'm a neophyte when it comes to audio recording. My projects
    are software demos with a few PowerPoint slides for introduction
    and wrap-up. After I record the PowerPoint show and the on-screen
    demo action, I use a headset/microphone to record narration for
    each C3 slide in the project.
    Is there a good description/discussion somewhere of the
    various settings in the Captivate "Audio settings" dialog box?
    In particular, what do "Encoding Bitrate", "Encoding
    Frequency", and "Encoding Speed" mean? And what effect does
    changing each of them have on the sound quality and file size (both
    when I'm recording the audio and when I publish the movie)? What
    settings would be best for "voice-over" narration? (I do not use
    background music.)
    The C3 online help for this dialog box isn't much help at
    all. For example, here's all that it says about "Encoding
    Frequency" and "Encoding Speed":
    = = = = = = = = = =
    Encoding Frequency
    Select the frequency at which audio encoding must be
    performed.
    Encoding Speed
    Drag the slider bar to set the required audio encoding speed.
    Increasing the encoding speed reduces the quality of the encoded
    files.
    = = = = = = = = = =
    That's a bit like saying "In your car, the brake pedal is
    used to apply the brakes" without saying that you apply the brakes
    to stop the car.
    I'd appreciate any and all insight you can share on this
    subject, and/or references to things I should read to learn about
    these.
    Thanks,
    Bill

    i hate to rain on everyone's parade here but this problem lies elsewhere and not with the photo-jpeg video.
    i was given several drives chock full of offline rt video and it plays fine out to my monitor. video was captured at offline rt preset resolution (320x240 photojpeg, square par), sequences are offline rt, control is apple dvcpro firewire to a jvc br-dv600ua vtr.
    granted, the video looks less than desireable but it's useful none-the-less. i forgot to mention that this in a fcp 4.5 project on my panther boot drive.
    perhaps the original poster will give some more info to help nail down the problem. or maybe my quicksilver system doesn't know it isn't supposed to display offline rt video.

  • I need help with export settings

    Hi everyone,
    I need help outputting an HD file for presenting a video to a client. I have tried exporting to HD .mov (H.264 codec) and PE keeps crashing (error compiling movie). From what I’ve read here, it’s due to the gargantuan file QT creates and HD space (even though I think I have enough HD available).
    So, I need a recommendation from you on what kind of file to output which will allow me to present the movie to the client in HD. This file is solely for the presentation, I have already published for web (FLV) and YouTube (direct share from PE) and they both worked fine.
    Here are my project specs:
    Timeline:           4:26
    Format:               1920 X 1080 HD
    Timebase:          29.97 frames per second
    OS:                        Windows XP SP3
    Processor:          Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.66GHz
    RAM:                    4GB
    Project Drive:   250GB disk with 152GB free space internal dedicated project drive (separate from OS)
    Thanks in advance for your help,
    Jose

    Hi Steve, Neale,
    I wanted to follow-up on this post. I came into the office today to run a few tests so I can make sure that I have the correct settings on my camera and PE project for the next time around. Here are few observations I was wondering if you can comment on:
    My Sony camera cannot shoot HDV. The only format it supports is AVCHD, so I'm stuck converting.
    I tried to convert the footage I have to HDV with the software I have (AVS Video Converter and Koyote Soft HD Converter) and neither of the two have an "HDV" conversion setting. I see AVI, MPEG, MOV and many different settings in each (AVI: Hd Video 1080p: H.264AVC, 29.97fps, 4200kbps, Audio MP3, 256 kbps or MPEG: HD Video 1080p - MPEG2, 15000 kbps, 1920X1080, 29.97fps, etc). What should I be looking for?
    I searched for "best file format" in the forum and found various postings from both of you referring to converting to DV-AVI within PE; especially if you have AVCHD footage (which I have). So, I followed directions and converted a file for testing. Then, I created a new project using HDV 1080i 30 settings and imported the converted file. I still get a red line on the timeline. Any thoughts on what I'm doing wrong?
    I also converted the MOV files (shot in HDV 60i with the pro camera) to DV-AVI. I also get a red line on the timeline...
    The DV-AVI converted footage (both cases) doesn't appear to be HD. It looks jagged on the preview window. Is it HD?
    The DV-AVI converted footage is almost double the file size as the MTS (AVCHAD) file (138mb vs. 60mb). Isn't that going to make PE run slower?
    Thanks in advance for your help. I just wanna make sure I do my homework now so I set everything up correctly on the next project.

  • Need help with compressor settings

    I hoped someone could help me with this. I have HD footage that has been captured in FCP as SD, so it's 4:3, with letter box so that the original 16:9 footage wasn't stretched.
    I need to make small Quicktime movies for streaming on the internet. I want to keep the proportions that I have, but I want to crop out the black letter box for a 320x180 video. How do I do this?
    I could also use help in determining which codecs to use. I want the best possible picture quality at a file size of less than 2MB per 1 min. of footage at the above dimensions.
    Please help if you can. Thanks!

    I'm also experimenting with the exact same thing. Only difference to yours - I am maintaining the 4:3. Here's what is giving me best results so far - the quality is very good, however I am still working on reducing the file size -> right now I'm at 4 MB/minute. I am trying get better file size only by slowly reducing the Kbps in the Video Settings until my results get unacceptable. All the rest remains as here - (my COMMENTS IN UPPER CASE):
    File Extension: mov
    Estimated file size: 970 KB
    (I'M USING A 15 SEC TEST CLIP)
    *Audio Encoder
    IMA 4:1, Stereo (L R), 22.050 kHz
    *Video Encoder
    Format: QT
    Width: 320
    Height: 240
    Pixel aspect ratio: square
    Crop: (L: 50, T: 50, R: 50, B: 50)
    (I'M CROPPING AWAY THE ACTION SAFE ZONE, KEEPING 4:3. YOU CAN ADJUST THESE SETTINGS TO YOUR LIKING IN THE GEOMETRY TAB.)
    Frame rate: 12
    (MY SOURCE IS DV PAL - THUS 12 FPS. IF YOU ARE USING NTSC YOU SHOULD GO FOR 15 OR EVEN 10 FPS. THIS WILL GIVE YOU HALF OF EVEN 1/3 FILE SIZE RESPECTIVELY)
    *Frame Controls:
    Retiming: Nearest Frame
    Resize Filter: Linear Filter
    Deinterlace Filter: Motion Adaptive
    Adaptive Details: Off
    Antialias: 0
    Detail Level: 0
    Field Output: Progressive
    *Codec Type: H.264
    Multi-pass: On, frame reorder: On
    Pixel depth: 24
    Spatial quality: 75
    Min. Spatial quality: 25
    Temporal quality: 50
    Min. temporal quality: 25
    *Average data rate: 0.512 (Mbps)
    I hope this helps you. Please let me know if you find out anything helpful to keep that quality, but reduce the file size! Good luck. Keep in touch!
