Help with Muse 4.0

I just upgraded to Muse 4.0, made a few changes and saved. It is asking me to save as with the new version. Should I just save over the old file name since my website is live?

If you save your changes after updating Muse to 4.0, the saved changes with all the new features and upgrades will only be compatible with Muse 4.0 which might be a problem if you are using an older version of Muse on another platform(s) or location(s). Since you'll most likely continue using Muse 4.0 with the all the new upgrades and features you'll definitely want to save it as a Muse 4.0 save file. However, as Vinayak_Gupta mentioned, it's always a good idea to keep a backup save file of your older version of Muse which establishes a benchmark of where your site was before the upgrade in case you encounter any bugs or problems with the newer version of Muse or you need to use it on other platforms or locations still using the older version of Muse. I accomplish the above by renaming the old save file with the same save file name, but with the addition of the number of the older version of muse listed. I then save the new changes I've made on the newer version of Muse as the original save file name which continutes to be the working save file I open with Muse.

Help with muse - deleted pages appearing when published

Hi there!
I published my website through Muse, then later in design mode deleted certain pages, and then re-published the website. Problem is, the old pages are still published, and appearing in search results and through links in my page.
Are you able to help please? Is there a setting I tick when publishing the site to avoid this?

Aside - Where are you Publishing to? Is it to the Adobe BC host?
Try a Export to HTML then look in that folder and see if the deleted xxxxx.html files are listed.
I just tested a site with 2 pages - Note .html files in exported folder >>
Then I deleted the untitled-4.html - Re-exported - and >>
Note - untitled has been deleted.

Need help with Muse PHP (JavaScript error...email)

I searched and did not see an answer for this:
I am exporting my Muse file to HTML and keep getting this error for my Contact Us page (email issue):
"JavaScript Error:Form PHP Script is missing from web server, or PHP is not configured correctly or your web host provider. Check if the form PHP script as been uploaded correctly, then contact your hosting provider about PHP configuration."
What PHP version does MUSE support....5.1? I contacted HostGator and they just updated my PHP to 5.5 and asked me what PHP MUSE needs. HostGator says 5.1 is old and they do not support 5.1. Can anyone help me?
Also, when I try to check PHP with: http://my-site.com/scripts/form_check.php I just get an "oops" screen, but does not verify my PHP.????

Difficult to debug without the URL for the form page on your site...
Are you using the built-in File > Upload to FTP Host in Muse? Or did you use File > Export as HTML and uploaded with some other tool?
Does http://<insert your domain name here>/scripts/museutils.js load anything? Or does it also give an "oops" screen? If it gives an "oops" screen, that would imply not all the exported files were uploaded to your server, they weren't uploaded to the correct location, or the permissions aren't set correctly.
For forms Muse only requires PHP 4.1 or later. PHP version is not the issue.

Help with Muse form - random order on test and where did the case number come from?

Fairly new to Muse but finding my way around. Created a simple form, added extra lines, changed labels and reordered etc to suit our needs. All looks fine in design stage. When I published and tested the form, the email submission I received has a different order for the form fields, so they are no longer logical and do not follow the order shown on the design stage. Any reason and/or any advice on how to fix this? The data needs to match an internal system for ease of use but Muse seems to have its own ideas about which order we should receive the field data from the submitted form!?
Also, there appears to be a randon 'case number' as part of the email submission. I have not created a field for this - where has it come from, and how do I get rid of it?

Help with tweaking blog and webform built in Adobe Muse

Hi there.
A client of mine had a 3rd party do a re-design (in Adobe Muse) of their current site in BC. Managed to get most of the re-design all launched except for a couple of tweaks that have been giving me major headaches.
Firstly, is it possible to edit the site that was built in Muse directly from BC itself and not Muse? I don't have a Muse subscription.
If so, I need help with the following that I have tried to tweak myself, but just can't find out how. BTW I am not a developer but muddle my way around editing existing code etc etc.
1. On the contact us page, I need to add an additional field to the webform. A radio button question: "preferred contact method". Phone or email. I know how to add the field to the webform in BC. Apparently Muse forms don't support radio buttons? Anyway, I can't figure out how to edit the source on the contact page to include the fields that I add to the webform.
2. Some minor tweaks to the layout of the blog page. I need to make the horizontal and vertical lines meet up and not have a space. Also, the left column width needs to be decreased and the right column width increased. Basically I need the current live blog http://www.robertsonburns.com.au/blah-blog to look like the previously coded muse blog (which is not live) http://robertsonburns-test5.businesscatalyst.com/blah.html which it does, except for these two minor issues.
Would appreciate anyone's help and/or advice.

Yes you just go to the site either via... site.buisnesscatalyst.com/admin or livesite.com/admin
Once you do that you can login. It depends how it was built though. Properly a site will have content holders and templates and the pages just hold the content. A user can go to those pages, webapps, blogs (dependng on the plan and build of the site) can edit that content.
Muse is not the best in terms of handling that and making updates, I am aware the Team updated Muse to handle fetching updates etc though but there is a note of caution on that stil though.
1. What is the plan of the site? If it is just a CC site then there is no web form manager with that plan of BC. You will have to edit and update the form built in Muse.
If it is on a plan that supports web forms it also depends on how you built it. If in Muse you should be able to just update the form in Muse I think and it posts into the system to update. If not then you need to go into the admin and web form manager and edit the html to make changes. This depends though if the form was inserted as a module, if not you need to navigate to the template or page and update it there once you have added the new fields to the form under the web form itself.
2. Layouts are managed via SFTP under the folder Layouts or in the admin under Module Templates in the main menu and Blog layouts.

Our president is running a marathon In a week to raise money to build a school for maasai children.. and the marathon page got garbled on export from muse. Can someone help with recoding that page? i need help with adobe muse sub-menu styling~! i can adjust them to exactly how i like them, but then when i go to the next set of sub-menus, the other ones revert back to the starting white/black boxes. i am frustrated as i have redone this so many times! Please help me!

To achieve this, you can use an accordion widget with custum styling.

Help With Donating Reward? (Adobe Muse)

The tittle say it all! But i'll just say it easier:
I host my own minecraft server (bukkit) and i want so people can donate, Thats solved because i made a donating button with paypal so thats done (or if i need to do another way) and im going to put it on my website (like i said if i need another way) and, a screw it!

I need help with FileZilla launching of a Muse site, please!

I have built a site with Muse for a local non-profit child care center. They already have a webhost and hosting plan, so I do not need (cannot afford) the business catalyst version. The site looks great on business catalyst, as well as in all the previews. When I upload via FileZilla, all looks good, but I cannot get the site to go "live"... Please help! What do I need to do?

You said they already have a webhost and hosting plan (but not a domain name). Are you replacing existing files on the server with a domain name? If so I would suggest backing up the site and then you'll probably want to remove all the old files and replace them with the new files.
If you are not replacing existing files: Have you actually purchased a domain name yet for the site? Having a webhost and plan doesn't necessarly mean you have your domain name ie" "Adobe.com". If you don't have a domain name, there is no place to point your browser for it to be "live".
What is the domain name you are using for the site? Maybe we can check out what happens when we call it up.

Is there a reason why you want to use Edge Web Fonts with Adobe Muse?
Assuming you wish to improve typography of your web pages, you should know that Muse is fully integrated with Typekit. This allows you to access and apply over 500 web fonts from within Muse. Here's how you do it:
Select a text component within Muse, and click the Text drop-down.
Select Add Web Fonts option, to pop-open the Add Web Fonts dialog.
Browse and apply fonts per your design needs.
Muse also allows you to create paragraph styles that you can save and apply to chunks of text, a la InDesign. Watch this video for more information: http://tv.adobe.com/watch/muse-feature-tour/using-typekit-with-adobe-muse/

Help with exporting and image size or boundaries?

I am trying to slide the cat into the scene a little at a time foir an animation project I am working on. However, when I export the image the back ground of the image expands with a checkered back ground( showing here in white) and shows the whole cat.
How do I just show a little of the cat on the image at a time when exporting. I am trying to give the impression that the cat is walking into the room. I do not want to have to cut the cat up.
I would be thankful for any suggestions.

Help with Facebook and Social Media wigets (Was: How do I fix the three probs that...)

I am having problems with the facebook or social media widgets. I would like the link to send viewers to my facebook business page, but when testing it shows my pic and a 'switch' sign (see screen shot) and when I open the site the message is as the other screenshot, great, but I don't know where to find which 'asset' is the problem and why. Also why bother having child pages if the menu doesn't reflect that? I see that drop down menus are an issue, also with some other forum members.

For some reason the facebook widget now loads the correct page, and I give up about the drop down menu, hopefully this will be addressed in the next update of Muse??

For the "asset" issue, try locating the asset in the assets panel. It should have an icon like this: http://jingsite.businesscatalyst.com/jing/2013-12-16_0917.png
For the child pages in the menus issue, go to the menu options (by clicking the small blue arrow in the right top corner of the menu), and then change the menu type to "All Pages" instead of "Top Level Pages".
