Help with my audio interface

i use an usb yamaha audiogram6 interface on my MacBook Pro it works good, but i have the problem that if i plugged my guitar it sound everytime and i keep listen it even if im using guitar amps on logic pro i listen the clean sound from the guitar and the guitar amp on the back i want to listen the guitar or mic only if i chose monitoring on logic

I'm experiencing similar problems with 10.5.6. My edirol ua-25 has now stopped working (i.e. is not recognized and does not power up). I have been using the ua-25 forever on a 1st gen black macbook, and have had no problems. I tried updating to the latest drivers for the ua, but no luck.. any ideas?

  • Help with M-Audio interface and GB

First time with any kind of audio interface and GB. I just got a M-Audio Mobile Pre USB and am a little confused by the monitor settings. Been to the web site and read the manual and they said turn the monitoring off in garageband so I don't hear double monitoring. My question is, is it possible to record and hear the effect I have chosen as well. With monitor off all I can hear is the dry signal.I never had to worry about this before since I was going directly into the Mac, no interface. Is there a FAQ or web site that can help a newb like me with these most basic questions?

Sounds like good advice Christoph. I have been only recording bass thus far, very few effects and no latency yet. I was puzzled by the M-Audio manual that says to turn off the software monitor but on the M-Audio web site forum an expert says to turn on the monitoring in garageband. This will all makes sense to me soon I hope.

  • Help with Usb Audio interface

Hey guys,  just having major issues setting up my recording software to work in boot camp  my usb audiophile seems to be connecting and functioning with Windows 7 but the audio quality is really poor with distortion, i have seen that this is a regular problem and would much appreciate a solution or a link to one that would be a great help
my set up is a  imac running 0s x version 10.6.8  with boot camp running windows 7  32 bit  the  Usb interface is the M-audio  Audiophile
    Thanks

GT Player Express is a real-time standalone application allowing to use your computer at studio or on the stage as powerful guitar multi effect processor. It offers ReWire support, for connecting to ReWire applications such as Live or Reason. Track Recording support allows recording of the processed or clean sound. Recorded tracks are automatically added to the current playlist. GT Player is functional as a VST plug-in which can be used in all VST host applications such as Nuendo, Cubase, Live, DSP Quattro, Spark, etc. With Keyboard Transpose, MIDI notes can be triggered from your computer keyboard with transpose capability.
According what I read, this app is VST only, so it won't work with GB, sorry. GB uses AU (Audio Units) and not VST.

  • Stage Performance with 2408 audio interface

Stage Performance with 2408 audio interface
a)I need to set a playlist with my 80 projects in front of me, ready to play and with a minimum loading time every time I select a new song to perform.
Each of my logic project has about 30 audio instrument tracks and 10 audio instrument tracks with many plug in.
I consider buying On Stage but the software only takes 20 projects at the time.
Is it possible to program more than one on stage software in the same computer and to program my 80 Logic projects?
I don't want to learn how to use Ablaton live, now I am finally comfortable with Logic.
b)About the loading time and the computer CPU:
    1) what would be the best deal to avoid the loading time between the songs: I can bounce my 50 tracks to a 4 stereo audio tracks, create a new project with these 4 audio instrument track to make faster or
    2) I can just leave the project with the original tracks but even with my Mac book Pro 2.4 GHZ, the computer crashes sometime because too many effects and tracks. (2 GB ram)
Please if you have an idea, I would appreciate a lot!!
    Thank you in advance.
    John

An external audio interface will not make a significant difference to the CPU strain. All it might do is improve the quality of your output signal. It will also not improve (or alter) the intrinsic audio quality of a bounce, unless there are external hardware synths/modules involved.
In the best case scenario (high end interfaces) the latency might drop a few milliseconds.
If you do not record audio, you can turn off software monitoring.
I also have the Lush, it's a lovely synth, but also a CPU-hog that can pretty easily overload the one CPU-core it is processed on.
What often helps with these synths is to turn off any FX (delay, chorus reverb, etc) that are built into the synth, and use Logics plugins as inserts on the channel strip. Also, turning  off FX on synths reveals the actual ("virgin") honest sound of the synth itself.

    Hi,
I need help with optical audio on my X-Fi Elite Pro, and Logitech Z-5500 speakers. I have everything connected, and sound comes out, but NO 5. Surround. This is pissing me off beyond belief. I have it all connected, and set to 5. Surround, and on my Logitech's I have it set to opical in, and have tried ALL effects, stereo, strereo 2x,[Dolby Sign] PL II Movie, [Dolby Sign] PL II Music. I have tried the sound card set for an external decoder, and the sound cards' decoder, and tried both with all optical settings on the sound card. It doesn't give me surround with optical... And I would REALLY appreciate help.
My drivers are up to date.
    Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Help needed for audio interface!

Hello, i am trying to set up a small recording studio at home. i have short listed o2 audio interfaces but unable to decide which one to buy? one is Tascam US-144MKII USB Audio Interface and the other one is Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, if you guys can help me choosing the right one.
my main use would be covering songs and recording vocals and instruments at the same time.

but they are expensive and my price range is from 100 to 150 dollars
Oh I get that... we all have to work within what we can afford.. and you are not the only one who budgets like that for sure.. but here's the thing..
Note: What follows is just a personal opinion. based on my own personal experienes and those I have worked with here and elsewhere.
You are using a $1000-$2000+ Mac... an App worth $200+ plus extra for whatever 3rd party plugins you have bought.. extra bucks for a Midi controller...and yet you are only willing/able to spend $125+ on a combined Audio/Midi inteface?
It's kind of like buying a $100K Ferrari and then putting $50 tires on it..... and expecting to get the best or even just average performance from your car? It simply doesn't work that way in reality..... and trying to make such a low budget for an Audio / Midi interface.. will only lead to possible issues in the future....
There is a good reason why it tends to be the same audio/midi interfaces which are owned by people who also report issues with the current OS X version and/or Logic .. The cheaper products simply aren't so well supported or designed/developed as the more expensive ones... and so thats what happens...
Look at the current issues going on with Mavericks for example..
Mackie/M-Audio/Avid/Digidesign/Tascam are all having driver/hardware issues of one kind or another..to differing degrees..with various products they sell.. with little sign they are close to properly fixing things..  Focusrite are, at least,  working hard with Apple to resolve their driver issues...but currently they are having some issues with certain products in their range too..  The cheapo Midi-USB2 cable type interfaces that sells for $20-$40 are all non starters/buggy as heck.. when used with ML/Mav and/or USB3 ports.. and most of these cheap products have the exact same issues every time OSX undergoes a major update! Sometimes they are fixed eventually and some times they aren't. In some cases the companies simply release a new replacement product leaving owners of the older versions.. left to their own devices.. (sic) and without any recourse or solution.. other than to buy a replacement or not being able to upgrade their Software/OS X
So... here is what i would suggest...
I'd rather buy a used Motu (or one of the other brands out there that are known to be reliable) for a couple of hundred bucks or so.. on eBay than buy a new cheaper interface.... but of course the choice/decision is yours.

  • Constant clicking/popping with USB audio interface (scarlett 2i1)

Hi, I'm having a very frustrating issue with my audio. for the time being I have just decided not to use any audio (which is absurd). I have had this problem with Arch, Mint, Ubuntu, Fedora, etc...
My audio interface is a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2, and I cannot get it to stop making popping noises. Initially, it would only do it when I would open an application (regardless of whether that application relies on audio), move back and forward in my browser, etc. Anything that makes the computer work. Right now, it is popping every 1/2 second, probably because dd is cloning a hd right now. Possibly related, qjackctl has started saying it can't connect to JACK server, I'm pretty sure it worked when I first installed it (it tells me "ALSA: cannot open PCM device alsa_pcm for playback.
    I have tried the following:
-ediitng asound.conf with various suggestions online for others that have had this issue - changing sample rates etc... unfortunately none of them are using the same interface so I don't think they apply to me. I don't really know what most of the things in these files mean, otherwise I would probably be able to configure it properly.
-blacklisting every other sound card in my computer
-adding a .asoundrc file as suggested here:
-tried to view information on my sound card with lsusb -v, but I don't know how to pinpoint the sound card so the list is too long for me to scroll all the way to the top (I typically have 12 to 14 usb devices plugged into this computer)
I mainly use OS X, but I would like to use Linux for music production as well; obviously this has made it impossible. Again, this has happened with every distro I have tried.
Please help, this has basically made Linux unusable for anything other than very basic internet browsing. I'm using gnome-shell and linux-rt kernel.

  • Frequent dropouts/clicks with USB Audio Interface

I am using a Toneport UX2 Audio interface (USB) that worked flawlessly with my PM G5. Now on my macbok pro, I get random, about every minute or so, droupouts or clicks in audio. It happens in any audio on the machine. Played in any software, itunes, dvd player, internet sources, etc. Its the same stutter on each source. Line6 support, as well as some other internet forums blame this on the USB chipset of the 15 inch MBP. They say that the data transfer rate is inconsistent and as a result i hear the click when the transfer rate drops. This is something that wouldnt be noticed in a printer or other USB device because its not dependent on a steady stream of data. But I hear the frustrating click in all its glory on every audio source. Both USB ports are effected. The Toneport is connected direct into the MBP (no hub). All the latest drivers/updates are installed. Please someone help me!!! Thanks...

  • Audio Output with firewire audio interface issue

Hi, i have a quick question that maybe someone here can answer for me. I originally posted this in the OS X forum but someone recommended that I may get better help here.
I have a PowerPC G5 with Mac OS X 10.4.11. I do a lot of home recording and use a Presonus Firebox Firewire recording box. I recently picked up some new monitor speakers that I run the outputs of my Firebox to and I use the Firebox as my output sound device in my system preferences.
Everything works pretty well unless I touch one of the volume buttons on my keyboard (which I tend to do out of habit pretty often). If I do press one of the buttons the volume dips way down and I have to pump my speakers and firebox volume up all the way up to hear them. If I do this, and then happen to put my computer to sleep when I awake the computer the volume is now at an extremely high level until of course I press one of the volume buttons on the keyboard.
The big problem is I have twice in the first two days of having my new speakers turned them way up and later in the day awoke my computer from sleep mode and had itunes or a dvd BLAST out of my speakers at a ridiculous volume.
My question would be is there some way in os x I can disable the volume buttons from being used if i am using a different output device? OR is there a better way for me to set my system up in my system preferences?
It was suggested in another forum that I look into the help for the Firebox unit instead of the mac so I have started to do this as well. I just thought that because everything works fine UNTIL I touch the computers keyboard it seems like the computer is making some drastic change in how the sound is being output, so I thought I'd try to find an answer here as well!
Thanks so much to anyone in advance who has any sort of help with sound preferences and or settings!!

This is a very good point! Thanks for your response.
I do realize that I have multiple volume controls going on here in a chain. First my computer, then the Firebox interface, then my speakers have volume knobs...
But what I am seeing is when I first press a volume key on my computer (even if it is the VOLUME UP key) there is drastic lowering in volume. Only until I put my computer to sleep, and awaken it does the volume return to a normal level.
It seems that when I am pressing the volume on my computer it is activating something on the mac's end... or changing the way the sound is being output.
Again all of this could be avoided by me not pressing those 3 keys on my keyboard... but old habits die hard! so if there was a way for my mac to give total control of sound output over to my firebox that would be best.
any more help is greatly appreciated!

  • Need help finding an audio interface for my old ADAT

    Hello,
I've been using Cakewalk Sonar for about 3 years and recently purchased a Macbook Pro and am making the switch to logic. In Windows I was using a E-mu 1212m PCI audio card that was connected via lightpipe to a Behringer ADA8000 8-channel preamp that has ADAT lightpipe output.
The songs I do are 90% audio with midi only used very sparingly for maybe a piano here and there. I record drums with a 6 mic setup (2 overheads, 2 on snare, one bass, one hi-hat). I'm looking for a new audio interface to use with my Macbook Pro. I'm also looking at purchasing Logic Express as it seems like the only things in Pro that affect me is more channels than I use on songs.
I would really like to spend no more than maybe 400-600 dollars if possible. Based on reading these forums, the best thing may be for me to get a MOTU 828 MKII off eBay (they seem to be available for about 500) or PreSonus Firepod.
I've heard that some people love the PreSonus Fireface, but I'm not sure how the Firepod compares. Are the converters on the Firepod and 828 comparable or is the 828 significantly better?
Also, my behringer preamps seem OK but I wonder if the Firepod would probably have better sounding ones, I think I only paid 2 or 300 dollars for the Behringer one.
Any feedback at all would be great. Alot of great stuff on this forum I'm just having a tough time figuring out if I should ditch my existing ADAT preamp for a Firepod or use it with the 828 basically.
    Thanks,
    -Jayme

  • Help choosing an Audio Interface Please

I am new to the mac world, and GB'08 is my first exposure to computer-based recording. I have been using the internal mic to record guitar and vocals, but want to upgrade so I can get better quality. I am not a pro, and am not looking to spend a bunch of money on this. I currently have a Tascam US-122, but although I have th most recent driver (and it shows up in system pref, GB, etc.) I cannot get it to work properly. I'm ready to move on.
I have found 2 devices that I think would be sufficient for my purposes, the Miglia Harmony Audio Interface (firewire) and the Imic (USB). Does any one have any ecperience working with either of these? Preferences? Other recommendations?
I have the imac 20", 2.4ghz, 2gb RAM with Leopard OSX.
    thanks.

    Michael
I am a singer songwriter who uses GB to do my songs. I bought a 10 input Behringer mixer for $70 and the iMic for $30. I run the guitar and mic into the mixer and the tape outs (Y Card - two RCA outs to 1/8" in) into the iMic. I get really good sound. iMic is a 2 way device so you can monitor also. Also, I converted all my bands old cassette recordings to MP3 using the iMic. And those recordings sound really great. So I speak from experience that the A to D converter in the iMic is pretty good. I owned a studio in LA back in 80's so I know the difference good sound and bad.
Another idea would be to buy a $50 Behringer mixer and run your audio into the audio in jack on your computer. Have never tried this but I am guessing it would be better than using the internal Mic (the worst possible scenario).
And the good thing about the iMic is....it just works and it is cheap. So later if you get money you can spring on a "pro" interface like the Apogee Duet.
The absolute key to getting a good sound is to have a "hot signal" going into your computer so you don't have to crank up the input gain and introduce a bunch of noise. The Behringer mixers come with XLR inputs for your Mic with ok gain. I actually plug my Mic into a Symetrix preamp to make the signal "hot" and then feed it into the Behringer.
    Good luck!!

  • Problems with USB Audio Interface

My Behringer mixing board came with a USB Interface so I can out put the audio from the board into my laptop via USB. The trick is though Logic recognizes it and I can record say microphone audio from the board on Logic, I cannot hear the tracks that already on Logic. For instance, say I want to record a vocal track onto something I have created on Logic. Logic will let me record the microphone vocal but it won't allow me to hear the track, rendering it useless. It is a very simple USB interface and I have been thinking of upgrading but I am wondering if it something I am doing wrong on Logic. Any thoughts?
    Ken

when you select , lets say the USB device in your audio preferences, it will be used as the input and output device. You can use the USB interface's audio outs plugged into your mixer, and use speakers or the headphone jack. When you create an aggregate device, using the USB device and your built in audio, and choose it in your audio preferences, this allows you to use the inputs and outputs of both the USB interface and your built in audio from your mac. So now you can record from one device while listening back on another. meaning you can record the audio from the USB device and listen back using your Mac speakers or from headphones plugged into your mac.
if you get a better audio interface, one with mic inputs, you will still need to connect it to speakers or plug in headphones to it to hear audio. If you have the budget, a dedicated firewire audio interface will usually give better results, in audio quality, than a behringer mixer and a usb interface.

I start Logic Pro 8 and then plug in Lexicon Lambda for a USB interface between guitar and macbook pro. With the Lambda plugged in I hear nothing from mac or headphone input on Lambda. If I unplug Lambda I can hear playback from mac just fine thru speakers or headphones.
Very appreciative of any advice on how to solve this.

Unplug your audio interface, reboot the Mac, plug the USB interface in, let it be recognized. Open Audio/MIDI Setup (in utilities) see if the Lambda shows up as an input and output device.
    Yes/No?
If yes, you don't have to select if for any of the Input/Outputs, Logic's audio interface selection operates independently from the system.
Open Logic go to "Preferences/Audio) select the Lexicon or Lambda interface as the default unit, set audio buffers to 256.
    Anything yet.
All audio I/O will be coming from the lexicon the Mac's audio system is now out of the equation.

  • Help! which Audio Interface to buy?

    Hi,
I have just got garageband and have fiddled with it for a few months now so Im comfortable with it. I now wnat to connect my Condenser Mic (RODE NT1-A) which will need phantom power and my electric guitar . Everything else will be recorded with the inbuilt soft synths on GB. I know nothing of audio interfaces and am only familar with M Audio Fast track as a brand.
I want to spend no more than £100 ( or less on ebay second hand) but Im confused by the vast choice. I was tempted by the cheaper M audio fast track with 1 xlr input and 1 for guitar. Does any one use one and if so will it be powerful enough for my condenser mic with phantom power ?
    Cheers
    Paul

I use a Presonus FireStudio Mobile with my Rode Mic's. http://www.presonus.com/products/FireStudio-Mobile I use an NT5 and NT2000. Both work great with the unit.. Its FireWire though which you may not have on your machine. I have used an early M-Audio Fast Track and would not recomend it to others. Cheers
