Help with my keyboard

Ok so I have a brand new Macbook. When I type it types in call caps (DASJKDASJ like that) and when I press number keys they dont come out numbers ($#@*() like that) I don't know what to do, its stopping my from logging in to my macbook, I always have to have the install disc in.

Thats what I thought. But I would'nt know how to fix it. Should I take it back to the apple store?

Back in windows i just configure my keyboard layout to US-International and problem solved, here i don' t know how?, i have tried US extended but it doesn't work, i can't find us-international in the keyboard layout list.

you can also access accented characters directly if you buy an apple extended keyboard for the language you want, in your case I presume spanish. then, you just have to select spanish as the primary language of your user account, and your keyboard will operate normally with all the accented keys you see on it working exactly as they should. you'll also have the OS localised into spanish in that case as well.. at least that is the case in france when using a french 'azerty' keyboard. for me, even though the azerty keyboard makes it faster to type in french because the accented letters are just there with one tap as opposed to having to use the option+accent function described earlier, I still usually prefer to do it the slower way with a qwerty keyboard.. because the french azerty keyboard for some stupid reason makes you hold 'shift' in order to type a full stop! ridiculous..

Hello, I have a problem with my keyboard.
Since I install Yosemite, my keyboard behaves differently.
Not supposed that the keyboard backlight go off completely when I'm in a super bright room? Because I've tried light up the light sensor and keyboard lights go to the fullest. I think it should be the other way.
The screen works perfectly, the light dims at night, but the problem with the keyboard still there.
I tried to disable and enable the automatic function for scase light environments, but still not working.
I have also reset the SMC, but neither works.
Anybody could help me?

Help with MIDI Keyboard-Doesn't play a certain note

I use Logic pro with a Korg Kontrol49 keyboard. My interface is a Digidesign 003. My problem is that the E3 key does not work anywhere on the keyboard even when I switch octaves. In the transport bar when I play the note it say no in. The 3 settings on the back of the keyboard are USB, Standby, and DC. The note does work when I switch it to DC, but then I get this message and the note works. As soon I clear the message the note stops working. #1 Device Kontrol49 assigned to MIDI Port "CTRL" which is not present. #2 Device Kontrol49 is assigned to MIDI Port A which is not present. I reset MIDI settings but to no avail. Please help. I'm going out of my mind

Look in your *Controller Assignments* window (cmd-K) if E3 is used for a controller message. If so, select the message and delete it, that should do it.

Well, why don't you check the Korgs' manual and find out what this DC setting actually does , before haphazardly flicking it?
You switching it probably makes it loose USB connection. That is the message. I have no idea what the DC setting does, but that message means you have "unplugged" it, or powered it down, or otherwise disconnected it.

I don't quite understand what you are trying to accomplish. You said you're "doing a keyboard". What exactly does that mean? Are you trying to have a front panel that looks like a keyboard? Your code seems to imply that you want to have some sort of visual indication of something like keys being pressed, but the keys come from some array, or some other source. Please clarify this. What is the purpose of this? Is this related to your other question?
Comments regarding the code:
If you have an array as the source of data then you should use auto-indexing on the for-loop rather than wiring a "magic number" to the N terminal and using Index Array. Please read the LabVIEW Help on auto-indexing loops.
Writing a backspace character to a string indicator isn't the same as actually pressing the backspace key on the keyboard. You're actually writing a value to the string, not sending keystrokes, which is something different.
I am assuming the comparisons at the bottom were just for debugging. However, it should be pointed out that the sequence frame is unnecessary - think dataflow. Also, you do not have the outputs of the comparisons wired to the Boolean indicators.
To learn more about LabVIEW it is recommended that you go through the tutorial(s) and look over the material in the NI Developer Zone's Learning Center which provides links to other materials and other tutorials. You can also take the online courses for free.

Hi, i need to put a new keyboard into my laptop because some of the keys on my current one arent working. I know how to get the laptop open and replace keyboard, but what i am not sure about is if i will be able to use new keybaord straight away or if it will need some sort of installing once laptop on? ..... because my prob at moment is that i cannot get onto the laptop as need to insert my password at turn on, but two of the letters i need arent working!!
so in short, can i put in new keyboard and it work straight away so that i cen enter password and back onto laptop.

While I cannot answer your question from personal experience, I suspect the answer to your question is that there is no need for any set up.
However, you should be able to attach any USB keyboard (no setup needed) and use IT to log on to your computer.

Help with Wireless Keyboard and Mighty Mouse please!

Hello. I own the wireless Mighty Mouse as well as the wireless keyboard for Mac, and while ago I set them up to work on my Mac, but I don't use them very much so I want to give them to my parents for their Mac. The thing is, I forgot how to set it up or install it or whatever. Can anyone tell me how to get the wireless mouse and keyboard to work, or what the install process is for them? Was there a CD that came with them that I need to install drivers with or something? Anyways, I have the mouse and keyboard sitting up here next to this computer, and I've turned them on with the switches on the back, but they're not working. What do I do next? Thank you!

Turn your Bluetooth keyboard and/or mouse off for 30 seconds, then back on.
If the keyboard or mouse doesn't respond, or if an alert message appears again:
Connect a USB keyboard or mouse.
Open Bluetooth preferences (choose System Preferences from the Apple menu, then click Bluetooth).
Verify that Bluetooth is turned on. (You can also do this with the Bluetooth menu bar item, if enabled).
Pair the keyboard or mouse by setting it up as a new device.

Help with the keyboard txt features

I have a hard time typing a whole txt or web address, anything, ect...without making a mistake, for say I meant to write...... facebook.com but instead i typed fcbook.ocm i just want to be able to place my "letter cursor" right between the necessary letters to change them out but instead the whole word gets highlighted for copy/paste otherwise the cursor just goes to the beginning of the word. I headrd one time to double tap between the letter, but just highlights for copies, then unselects the hightlight the word for copy. does anyone know how to change settings or trick for this?!
also sorry kinda new to this phone, but as far as having internet explorer be my browser, i want yahoo desktop version for homepage, i click on internet explorer typically goes to previous website or white screen. it doesn't seem like I am using internet explorer. I read the instruction on setting, internet settings, ect but under the ...more under settings doesn't say anything about home page or browser.

Hello brookanne07, We want you to love every aspect of your new device! Let's speed up that correction time! Typically, you should be able to tap and hold anywhere in the text area. A cursor beam will appear and you can move it to the location you want.
I took a look at the options for Internet Explorer and a great solution would be to go to the page you would like to set as your homepage and choose the option to pin it to your homepage. At this point you would use that icon to consistently open your browser and work from there. It does not appear email images can be set to auto-download. This could be a design for security purposes as well as data conservation. I appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us here! Please let me know if I can provide any additional support!

Brian - The batteries are fine and there has only every been one keyboard paired with it. We have tried my MacPro keyboard as well, and it will not even recognise that there is a discoverable keyboard nearby.

New Mac user looking for help with Finder, Preview, Keyboard, & Dock

So about a month ago I switched over from a lifelong Windows user to a brand new MacBook Pro, and while I am adjusting pretty well, there are still some things that I haven't quite figured out.
First up on the list is Finder! I like my files to be arranged just like how they are in Windows Explorer--folders first alphabetically, then files alphabetically. I've managed to acquire this setting by messing around with the "clean up by" and "arrange by" functions but I don't really know the specific combination. Most of the time these preferences are saved and set as the defaults under "View Options" but every once in a while it resets and I have to tinker around with the settings all over again. Does anyone know of a way to fix this? It's only happened twice so far, but I'd rather not have it happen again. Also, occasionally when I delete an item, there is a blank space left where the icon was instead of all the files following it bumping up a space. Any quick fixes for this bug?
Next up is Preview. Again, I like the Windows Way and I like to be able to browse between the files in a folder while using Preview/Windows Photo Viewer. I know that there is a way to browse between files if you select the whole folder and stick it in Preview, but is there a way to achieve the same result without having to do that? An app or "extension" of some sort that adds arrows in to browse between photos? I've had no luck finding anything other than the aforementioned option. Is there a good free alternative to Preview that will function similarly with the browse between photos option?
One of my favorite things about my new Mac is the backlit keyboard function. My old laptop didn't have it and as someone who is online more often at night it is super helpful. But is there a way to turn it off during the day/in bright settings? A way to put it on a timer? In System Preferences I selected the option "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light", which I assumed to mean would have the keyboard NOT very bright when there IS light, but it continues to light up just the same. Any apps or extensions to help with this one?
And finally, the dock! This question is more about aesthetics than functionality but help is appreciated all the same. Currently, my dock looks like this: http://i42.tinypic.com/35ktxlz.png It is rather opaque and the indicator lights can barely be seen. However, in a lot of tutorial videos I've been watching, many people have docks that look like this: http://i.i.cbsi.com/cnwk.1d/i/tim/2011/07/19/Lion_LaunchPad.png It is a darker shade of gray, the divider is dashed rather than a straight line, and the indicator lights are clearly visible. Does anybody know how to get this look for the dock? I've looked in the dock preferences but there's not really anything in there other than magnification/size/effects.

Seems like you are interested in column view, which would show you the hierarchy of folders and files: Column View in Mac OS X Mountain Lion - For Dummies Not sure what's going on if your finder settings don't stay put. May be a corrupted preferences file, which is easy to fix, but is perhaps a topic for another discussion.
What I'd suggest is to have an open mind and try to see what the mac can do, rather than force it to look like your windows machine. I mean, if you just want it to look like windows, then why bother switching? If you give it a little time, you'll start to appreciate the mac way of doing things, and see how it is infinitely more awesome, powerful, creative, intuitive, and better designed (and the software way better written) than what you left behind. But that's your call.
There are some threads on this forum with complaints about the backlight. Keyboard backlight settings query...: Apple Support Communities Evidently it depends on the angle of the screen and the light sensor relative to the light. Some suggest that a SMC reset may help: Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) This is not an issue for me, I just adjust the brightness with the keyboard buttons if I want. Real men shift their own gears, drink their coffee black, and adjust their own keyboard brightness. I am not aware of any software to exert more control over this feature but a search of macupdate Download Apple Mac Software & iPhone Software : MacUpdate may help. I mean, it's up to you what is important. I can waste a lot of time playing around with the GUI and with unnecessary software, or I can just get my work (and play) done.
You might prefer the no-glass dock, that removes the shelf, and makes the indicator lights like more discrete orbs. You can do this with the terminal. Using the terminal is also, perhaps, a topic for another discussion.I like the 2D dock much better. If you want I'll give you some directions for how to do it. Stuck In Boot Camp With Broken Keyboard PLEASE HELP

Just recently, I decided I wanted to install Windows 7 on my iMac for gaming. Now, this has worked before, so I expected it to go without a hitch.
Now I sit here (on my Dad's PC), waiting for an answer. I am stuck on the black screen saying "No bootable device - press any key". I see a lot of other posts saying that I need to press option on my keyboard, but that's another problem. I have a Windows gaming keyboard, so the keys have a Windows layout. So instead, I pressed alt, which apparently is the equivalent. Nothing. I tried all the other key shortcuts, and still nothing. I noticed that when I booted up, my keyboard lit up (it's LED), but if I pressed CAPS lock or the num key, the indicators wouldn't light up.
All I want to do is boot into OS X! This is extremely frustrating, as I have some very important work on my iMac.
Someone please help me.
P.S I have tried with other keyboards, and that hasn't fixed it.

Just generally starting up my Mac, and changing back to OS X when I used to have Windows working on my iMac. By pressing alt on my Windows layout keyboard.

NEED HELP with Keyboard for Yoga 2 Android Tablet

I have just spent more than an hour talking with Lenovo Sales/Customer Service tying to find out why the Yoga tablet I bought my son for Christmas doesn't have a keyboard (I purchased the tablet directly from Lenovo).

I called sales 4 times and each time I get a different answer: they are out of the keyboard, buy the keyboard from BestBusy or Amazon, there is no keyboard (even though it is pictured), it will have a keyboard but no one knows when.
I did buy the keyboard I was told by a chat with Lenovo from Amazon but it is not the correct keyboard and now I'm stuck with a tablet without a keyboard and keyboard without a tablet.
Customer Service won't help saying it's a sales problem and Sales says there is nothing they can do and transfers me to Customer Service. It is infuriating.
My son is so dissappinted. He only wanted this tablet because it came with a keyboard (we thought) and he can use it at school. We will likely return the tablet if it was misrepresented on the Lenovo webiste.
Does anyone know if and when the keyboard will be available?

The keyboard is also supposed to be a cover s seen in the photos. We bought the tablet because it clearly shows a keyboard case if not included at least available.
I was willing to purchase the keyboard cover but first Lenovo sales said they were out and said to purchase the keyboard (also Lenovo) at BestBuy instead but it turned out to be the wrong keyboard (not the one in the picture - too big, falls off and likely to break). Then I was told by someone else in customer service there was no keyboard and the picture is of the prototype. Then I was told by someone else in sales that there may be one coming out in the future but no one knows when and how much it will be.

Help with the Korg nano key usb keyboard!

I recently bought the Kord Nano Key usb keyboard for the purpose of triggering drum sounds and sounds from the library. Will this keyboard do this?
I have very limited time with which to read manuals and experiment. Could anyone just tell me how to get going with this keyboard. I have installed the driver and can see that some sort of signal is getting into logic.
If it is possible, can you get me up and running quickly?

I'm assuming the Akai came with a manual, I know Logic did, you're going to have to do a little of the work yourself, your question is so vauge that no one knows what you're tried, or if you've even tried anything at all! This is professional software... you HAVE to read manuals... have you used Garageband? Have you plugged the Akai in, have you looked in Logic's online help systen to see how to load a software instrument?
Or job is not to hold your hand, this is a user forum, there are people here that will help but you need to to some work on your own.
