  • Need help with new computer/ipod

Hi i have a new computer and I want to put my ipod music on the new computer I can not figure out how to do this. When i plug into I-Tunes it only wants to sync and erase my IPOD help????

1). Connect your iPod to your new computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchased songs and in some cases, videos and games) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Ipod help with new computer

ok i just bought a new lap top when my old computer crapped out. so now i have an ipod with around 2000 songs on it but my old computer had itunes and all the songs there.
so now when i hook up my ipod to my new computer to try and add more songs to the ipod it says that itunes is synching with my ipod? i have no clue what that means but i heard that it might erase all of my songs on my ipod. and since i dont have my old computer i wont be able to get all those songs back.
so what i am asking is if there is a way to turn off synching? or should i just let it synch cause it wont hurt my ipod or the songs on it already?
    thanks

Yes, you can choose to run your iPod in 'manual mode' setting when you are in iTunes.
"To load songs onto iPod manually:
Connect your iPod to your computer.
When the iPod icon appears in the iTunes window (under Devices), select it.
If the Summary pane is not showing, click the Summary tab.
Select "Manually manage music." (If you have an iPod that displays video, the checkbox says "Manually manage music and video.")
Click Music (below Library, on the left side of the iTunes window) and then drag songs and playlists to your iPod."

  • Help with new computer for Photoshop Use ?

I am going to upgrade my laptop (prefer using laptop for various reasons) and I have the choice of two laptops. Yeah one is more expensive and is a gaming laptop but I just want to know which will work best with Photoshop CS6
The two laptops I have the choice of and I don't want any other suggestions please as I only have these to choose from are:
    HP Envy DV7
    (details here)
    Samsun Series 7 Gamer
    (details here)
The specs might not say but they both come with Win8 64 Bit
I know the Samsung is a high end gaming laptop but that dosent mean it will be great at photoshop and would the cheaper HP do photoshop just as well for less money ??
I would greatly appreciate any help and advice
    thanks

Honestly, one cannot hope to advise you reasonably on how best to run an application as complex as Photoshop without your having stated any of your needs or goals.  Pretty much any modern computer will be able to run Photoshop.  But...
What kind of work products are you going to want to make with Photoshop?
Big images? Small images? Huge images?
Are you planning to do things that rely heavily on the GPU?  3D?
Are you going to work with an external monitor?  Is color-management important to you?

That's a kind of meaningless question.
It's akin to asking, "Would a Dodge take me to the store better than a Ford?"
If you're considering doing serious Photoshop work I'd suggest reconsidering a desktop system.  Laptops are typically optimized for things other than what Photoshop needs.

  • Need help re-synching iPods with new computer and getting iTunes to...

Need help re-synching iPods with new computer and getting iTunes to recognize our iPods (it doesn't even recognize them when they're plugged in).
Hubby wiped my harddrive for me, so now I need to get everything back in proper places. I'm using windows XP and installed iTunes once again (I believe it's version 8). I also installed all of my iTunes songs. Now I need to know where to go from here. We have 3 iPods and I need to get them all synched once again. I know how to create different libraries for each of us, but I can't figure out how to get our songs back into our iTunes libraries. When I open iTunes and plug in an iPod, iTunes doesn't even show that an iPod is plugged in.
What do I do now to get each of our iPods synched with our own libraries?
    TIA
    Brandy

Thanks Zevoneer. The "Restart ipod service" worked and itunes is now recognizing my ipod! Hooray!
Okay, now how do I synch all of our ipods with our individual libraries (I don't want all of my kids' songs and vice versa)? We each have hundreds of songs on our ipods that we don't want to lose.
    Thanks again!

  • Cannot sync ipad Air with new computer running windows 8

With new computer (HP Envy 27) running with windows 8, I have the latest iTunes installed, and successfully transferred my itunes library (books, music, TV programs, podcasts etc) to the new computer.  I've tried multiple times to sync my iPad Air with no success.  Only the Podcasts and Apps have been synched.  No TV programs, and only a few music albums and books came across, despite the fact I selected the albums and books to synch individually.  Can anyone help please?

Since you are able to sync some content and not all, I would first unsync (uncheck the box and hit apply) for a category (lets say books), then go back and re-sync (check the box again) and select just one item that did not sync before.  If it syncs then you know it's not the content.
If it doesn't sync, then you will have to do a little more testing to see what it is, like trying to sync from a new library or new user.
Also, verify in itunes what's on the iPad by showing the sidebar and clicking the arrow next to the iPad on that sidebar.  You can see what has made it onto the iPad.  If its on the iPad there, but not showing up in the proper place on the iPad's screen (like books in iBooks) then you will need to troubleshoot the device up to maybe even restoring it as new.

logical connection to old with WindowsXP, 32 bit version of iTunes.
New is Windows7 with 64bit version

Syncing to a new iTunes library or computer will erase your iPod. Only if you back up your iPod manually before syncing, you can restore your device from that backup again. A manual backup does not include the sync process.
    Do this:
Disable autosync in iTunes, connect your iPod to your new computer and right click on it in the device list and choose backup. iTunes will backup your iPod without syncing.
Transfer your purchases the same way, choosing "transfer purchases" this time.
When you connect your phone for the first time, all media content will be erased. But you can restore your settings and app data from your manual backup afterwards.
Don't forget to set up at least one contact and event on your new computer to be able to merge calendars and contacts when you sync the iPod for the first time.
Music is one way only, from the computer to your device, unless you bought the songs in iTunes and transferred your purchases.
There is 3rd party software out there, but not supported by Apple, see this thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2013615&tstart=0

You will need to contact the movie studio that produced the DVD and ask if they can issue you a new code valid for Canada. Apple cannot help you, and everyone here in these forums is just a fellow user.

  • Our old computer crashed which had all the kids ipod touch library on it. Now when I connect ipods to new computer it says I have to erase all the app, etc to sync with new computer. Is there anyway to sync to the new computer w/out losing all data?

Our old computer crashed which had all the kids ipod touch library on it. Now when I try to connect them to new computer it says I need to erase all data, apps, etc. to sync with new computer. It is saying that it can only be connected to one library at a time. Is their anyway around this without having ot erase all their stuff?

    - Transfer iTunes purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - Transfer other music by using a third-party program like on of those discussed here:
    newer copy
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.
Note that the iPod backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.

  • Help with using Iphone with NEW computer

I have a new computer and want to use my iphone with it. I dont have any songs on the new one and cannot transfer them however i can eventually rebuild my song list. What i want to know is when i sync my iphone to my new computer i no that means it will put whatevers in my library on it but when it comes to settings, applications, photos, sms messages what happens with those, will it just erase everything? Im just a little confused with everything.
Help would be much appreciated! :-D thanks

Yep... everything will be gone because the computer will think it's a new iPhone.
You can download the applications from the AppStore again for free, but your music will be lost. Consider using an application like ifunbox to copy the music from your iPhone to the PC before installing iTunes.

  • IPod won't work with new computer - please help

When I bought my iPod, I had it hooked up with Computer #1. That went with my ex-husband in the divorce, so I no longer have that computer.
I now have my parents' old computer, Computer #2. My dad has an iPod that was originally used with this computer, but none of his songs or libraries are on Computer #2 anymore. The iTunes library is totally empty. I tried hooking up my iPod, and it said that my iPod was already associated with another computer. So I authorized Computer #2 to play my iPod songs, and that didn't work either. I cannot deauthorize computer #1 since I don't have it anymore. ITunes would not let me deauthorize both computers, like it said you could do once a year.
I am at a loss for what to do. Thanks in advance.

I have the same problem!! I had my library on a computer on XP and now I have Vista and don't know how to transfer my Vista. If anyone can help please let me know!!!!!!
