Help with new Mac update?

Hi! So when I logged on to my Mac this morning, I noticed there was a new update for the new iTunes 10.7, OSX 10.8.2, and MacBook Pro EFI Firmware Update 2.9. I want to get this new update, but near the "Update" button it says "waiting....". It has said that since I tried to do the update this morning about 6 hours ago. It also says "Restart Required", so I tried resetting my Mac but that didn't help. Any ideas? Thank you!

Need help with new Mac Pro (2012)

Hi for everyone!
Few days ago, I bought a new Mac Pro (Mid 2012) MD770LL/A for my recording studio. The workstation is really powerfull and silent, but it has one major problem for me: computer comes with pre-installed Mac OS X 10.7.3 Lion, and as I understand, I can't install Mac OS X 10.6.8 on this machine. In this case, some plug-ins and instruments, that critical for my works are unavailable for me now. For example - MusicLab RealGuitar and RealLPC thru the VST to RTAS adapter (I'm using Pro Tools in my studio) don't working correctly on a Lion OSX. Unfortunately, I can't find any solution, to fix it... Even on an official support website of that software developers. Secondary, I still need Rosetta for some applications.
In that situation, my studio can't fully work.
So, what I should do??? WHY is officialy impossible to install Mac OS X 10.6.8 on a new Mac Pro, if its components is absolutely identic with Mac Pro 2010, that supported Mac OS X Snow Leo???

Good news for anyone, who wants to install Mac OS X 10.6.x on a Mac Pro 2012!!!
As it turned out, the original installation DVD disc from the Mac Pro 2010, fully compatible with Mac Pro 2012! The images of DVD is quite possible to find on the Internet. Just checked on my system - boot from the fresh-burned disc, and Mac OS X 10.6.4 installed without problems! After that, updated to 10.6.8 - and it works!
Personally for me - it is great news!

Help with new Mac Mini dock not responding!

Good day to you all. I took delivery of a shiny new Mac Mini on Friday and not having too many problems.....ish
The main problem is the dock not magnifying, it is set too, and having to click icons in the dock twice. All was working fine when I switched it off last night.
Any assistance gratefully accepted thanks

OK. I have installed flip for mac, firefox for mac, msn for mac, snapNdrag and real Player for mac. The keyboard and mouse are a non apple wireless usb kind, recognised straight away and working fine(I think)

Need help with new MAC computer and Touch

I had to wipe my drive clean and reinstall MAC OS X and iTunes yesterday.
My Touch has the latest firmware and the App Pack.
However iTunes is now blank.
How do I configure iTunes so that I can resync my Touch without losing either the firmware upgrade or the App Pack? BTW I have a backup of just the iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa file
Also, can my Contacts and Calendar info on the Touch be imported back into the applications on the MAC? Or will I have to rebuild them?

The reason I had to wipe the drive and reinstall OSX was that when I turned on my MacBook Pro it stuck on the opening gray screen (with the gray Apple logo). The spinning start up icon just kept spinning. I tried the usual start up fixes - nothing worked. Since the computer is used for work I contacted our MAC IT guy and he suggested to start it up from the original software install disc that came with the MAC and use the Utilities on that disk to repair the hard drive. I did that, ran the utility to repair the disk. Unfortunately, the utility very quickly encountered an error and said that the disk could not be repaired. My IT guy said that the likely cause was a bad sector on the drive and that I should erase the drive using the utility using the option of overwriting with zeros since, according to him this process would end up with a reformatted drive with the bad sectors no longer available. Unfortunately that also meant that I'd lose everything on the drive. Fortunately I'm fairly up-to-date with my back ups. I've owned MACs since February 1984 and this is the first time I've encountered a problem like this.
It's taken about about 12 hours to get everything back and working again. The only concern is with my iPoT since this is a blank iTunes. I have all my music backed up so I can recreate my playlists. However, my MACs iCal and Address book are empty and I don't want the ones on my iPoT to be blanked out when I sync it. And I'd rather not lose the iPoT apps which I just bought in January. Although if that happens I guess I'll just have to purchase the apps again

Help with new mac.

I just got this macbook pro today and I read somewhere that to maximize the battery life you're supposed to do something that involves discharging to 50% or something like that.
Also, will it affect your battery life if you leave the battery in while you have the mbp on power supply? I thought that I also read that you're supposed to remove the battery while you have the laptop plugged into an outlet, but I think that might be to reduce the laptop's power consumption, and it wouldn't make a lot of sense seeing as if you unplugged the magsafe then you'd lose all of your work.
And do the brightness settings affect battery life if you're connected to a power supply? It's obvious why you would want to dim the screen while working on battery, but will it affect the overall amount of cycles to have the brightness on high?
I'm really concerned about maximizing the amount of cycles I get out of this computer; I don't want to have a maximum battery life of 30 minutes in two years!

The lithium-ion batteries, which your MBP has, prefer short charges, instead of full charge/discharge cycles. This is because, unlike Ni batteries, Li-ion batteries have no memory, so the short charges don't hurt them. In fact, with every full charge/discharge cycle, the battery life is shortened a little. This doesn't mean you should never unplug it from the AC. It is a good idea to keep it plugged in, but cycle the battery down once every 30 days so the computer can gauge how much life it has left (calibration). Furthermore, when the computer is plugged into the AC and is fully charged, the computer will not charge the battery, so the screen brightness will not affect the battery since it is not really in use. You can check all these stats by going to the Apple on your toolbar, then about this mac, then more info, then power. This will give you up to minute stats on your power supply and battery information. Hope this helps, the neuroanatomist guy knows alot about these batteries, so read his posts on peoples problems and you will be good to go.

Help with Adobe Reader update installation on mac book pro

am trying to update adobe reader 9.4.6 to the latest version on my mac book pro. Am able to download the updtae to 10. whatever and proceed with installation. At the step where I am asked to choose the adobe reader file, I select the file and then the process stops and I get a message that installation has failed and i am to contact the software manufacturer.

There are known technical issues with any older version on Yosemite, even CS6. Some can be worked out, others may not be relevant to you, some will remain unsolved.

Hopefully it isn't too late for this but: before performing an update it is really best if you close all apps (double click the home button, click and hold on one of the apps that appears at the bottom of the phone until the red minus sign appears and then tap the minus sign until all apps are closed) and then turn the phone off by holding the standby button until the slider saying "slide to power off" appears and slide it to turn the phone off. Then turn the phone back on and hook it up to your computer to sync and perform the upgrade. This also helps if you do this before performing syncs too. I had problems with an iPod previously where it would fail to backup before sync most times, but have never had a problem with updates or syncs since I started performing this procedure. Unfortunately, your pre-update backup may have failed and the data in your apps might be gone, but you could try to restore your phone. If I remember correctly how to do this, you connect it to your computer and check for updates. It should say you're up to date, but have an option to restore the phone. If it does, I'd try that. It may also have a "restore from backup" option you could try.

It is extremely important you realise.. the Time Capsule was never designed for this.
It is a backup target for Time Machine.. that is the software on the computer that does backups.. it has no direct connection to the Time Capsule.
It has no ability to back itself up.. unlike all other NAS in the market. It is therefore likely one day you will lose all your files unless you seriously work out how to backup.
The TC is slow to spin up the hard disk and fast to spin down. iTunes and iPhoto will continually lose connection to their respective libraries.
iPhoto in particular is easy to corrupt when you move photos over wireless into the library.. once corrupted all is corrupt. A single photo will ruin it all.. so backup is utterly essential.
Time Machine cannot do backups of network drives. ie the TC. You will need a different backup software like CCC. You will then need another target to backup to..

File icon with ? mark on it means it can't read from the hard drive. The hard drive is now wiped or bad. If just wiped then you will need to reinstall your operating system, OS X. If bad you will need to replace the drive.
Start with booting the computer from the OS X install DVD that came with your system. If the Mac came with Lion Pre-Installed then you use the Lion internet recovery system to reinstall (Hold down Command+r keys or Command+Option+r keys to boot the computer from over the internet to the Lion recovery HD system).

I am talking about iPhoto. In my old Mac even in Books choosing slideshow gives a pop up where you can select a music from I tunes library. In this new one I can stop the slideshow with cursor and it shows music option but it is, as I said dead. Does not response at all to commands.
