Help with non-GUI execution of OWB

We have migrated 3 databases from an NT environment to a Linux environment. The NT test database holds OWB and the Linux test database is going to hold OWB. Up until this point I've kicked off monthly refreshes of various marts via the OWB GUI. We are going to be doing most of our DBA work remotely via VPN using an X-term window. Basically, no GUI. The user manual has a section on batch jobs but I'm hoping there's some more information out there.
We have monthly processes that use perl to call various .ksh scripts. I hope to be able to tack on the mart refreshes at the end of the monthly load. Is there a how-to for editing and executing a saved owb package?

Look at owb\rtp\sql\sqlplus_exec_template.sql. There is good documentation in there on how to use it.

  • Help with SAP GUI on Trial VMWare Edition

    I currently have a trial version of NetWeaver installed (SAP NetWeaver 7.0.1 Java + ABAP Trial VMWare Edition), but having problems getting the GUI to work.  The VM is using GNOME 2.12.2.
    I'm currently having trouble with SAP GUI.  According to SAP help, a requirement to run SAP GUI for HTML is Windows NT 4.0.  Since I'm using GNOME, I tried to get the Java version to work.
    When I try to launch SAP GUI, it gives me the following error:
    http://i.imgur.com/0ZBVI.png
    I wasn't able to troubleshoot the error, so I'm in the process of uninstalling this version of SAP GUI, and try installing again.  However, I'm having trouble performing the uninstall.  I did some reading, and it says to either run the SAPsweep.exe utility or NWSapSetup.exe.  But I can't find either of them on my machine (tried doing a system search, no luck).
    I found this thread to be helpful: Re: sapsweep.exe for SAPGUI 7.10 ?, but I'm not running on Windows.
    Thanks in advance for any input

    Hello Anoop.
    The error occurs because you have selected OLE DB for OLAP Provider in the Business Explorer selection.
    You can tell this from the following line in your sapsetup
    00:43:58 NwSapsAtlC  1W  Marking package SAPGUI_7.30 ({57F4A687-AE41-4BEA-9553-F852C36F8C1E}) as disabled: selected node OLE DB for OLAP Provider ({5390360A-98D9-4377-BD41-9A147392D000}) has failing condition.
    Since you don't have Office installed,you cannot use the Business Explorer modules.
    Run the installation again only selecting the components you require.

  • Need help writing non-gui JMF program

    I need to write a program that will convert a WAV file from a ULAW format to a GSM WAV file format. I first tried this with the Java Sound API and the WAV file format of GSM was not supported so I stumbled across JMF.
    I can use the JMStudio and Export GUI programs that come with JMF to convert the wav file as needed. But now I'm trying to write a batch program (non-gui) to convert the file on the fly.
    First, is this possible. Second, does anyone have any code samples of a batch java program using JMF in batch.
    Thanks,
    Scott

  • Need more help with a GUI

    It's the ever popular Inventory program again! I'm creating a GUI to display the information contained within an array of objects which, in this case, represent compact discs. I've received some good help from other's posts on this project since it seems there's a few of us working on the same one but now, since each person working on this project has programmed theirs differently, I'm stuck. I'm not sure how to proceed with my ActionListeners for the buttons I've created.
    Here's my code:
    // GUICDInventory.java
    // uses CD class
    import java.awt.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.event.ActionListener;
    import java.awt.event.ActionEvent;
    public class GUICDInventory extends JFrame
         protected JPanel panel; //panel to hold buttons
         protected JPanel cdImage; // panel to hold image
         int displayElement = 0;
         public String display(int element)
                   return CD2[element].toString();
              }//end method
         public static void main( String args[] )
              new GUICDInventory();
         }// end main
         public GUICDInventory()
              CD completeCDInventory[] = new CD2[ 5 ]; // creates a new 5 element array
             // populates array with objects that implement CD
             completeCDInventory[ 0 ] = new CD2( "Sixpence None the Richer" , "D121401" , 12 , 11.99, 1990 );
             completeCDInventory[ 1 ] = new CD2( "Clear" , "D126413" , 10 , 10.99, 1998 );

    });Above is your code for the "Next" button.
    You ask the question "What goes here"? Well what do you think goes there?
    If you are looking at item 1 and you press the "Next" button do you not want to look at item 2?
    So the obvious solution would be to add 1 to the previous item value. Does that not make sense? What problem do you have when you try that code?????
    Next you say "Is this right"? Well how are we supposed to know? You wrote the code. We don't know what the code is supposed to do. Again you try it. If it doesn't work then describe the problem you are having. I for one can't execute your code because I don't use JDK5. So looking at the code it looks reasonable, but I can't tell by looking at it what is wrong. Only you can add debug statements in the code to see whats happening.
    If you want help learn to as a proper question and doen't expect us to spoon feed the code to you. This is your assignment, not ours. We are under no obligation to debug and write the code for you. The sooner you learn that, the more help you will receive.

  • Help with Skip Level dimensions in OWB 10.2 (Paris)

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to understand how to set up and use a skip level dimension in OWB 10.2. A simplified version of my hierarchy would be:
    Plant - Equipment - Assembly - Item
    Where Some Items connect directly to equipment and others connect to assemblies. How sould I define this in the Dimension wizard or editor in OWB?
    Can I create a single dimension hierarchy and in the Item level put Skip Level as "Equipment"?
    OR
    Do I need 2 hierarchies - one Plant-Equipment-Assembly-Item and the other Plant-Equipment-Item?
    There is an example in the Users guide that created 2 hierarchies -
    TOTAL-GROUP-PRODUCT and TOTAL-PRODUCT
    In the example, they show the PRODUCT in TOTAL-PRODUCT setting the skip level field. I don't understand why that is necessary if it is 2 seperate hierarchies.
    Any help/guidance would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Donna,
    Perhaps JP can expand on his answer. In my case, I did go the route of seperate hierarchies. It is a bit of work defining multiple hierarchies and my example was much simplified. We actually have about 8 levels in the primary hierarchy and 6 levels in the second. It does work well with the cubes by using 2 roles for the dimension - one for each hierarchy.
    I saw that truly "ragged hierarchies" or "level hierarchies" can be defined in OWB and deployed as MOLAP but MOLAP has quite a few drawbacks - no SCDs and requires analytic workspaces etc. I haven't done anything with these yet.
    Our data is a classic manufacturing Bill of Material so the level hierarchy would be the easiest to manage, though I'm not sure how easy it would be to report on! I do want to shield my end-users from CONNECT-BY madness.

  • I need help with my GUI Photo Album.

    Hello! I'm still learning bits about GUI and I need some assistance to make my basic program work. I've searched the forums to look at past Photo Album projects; they didn't help much or maybe I'm overlooking some things. Every time I click the "Next" button the image doesn't change. It may be a simple task to solve, but I'm really stumped! Sorry if it's such a stupid thing to ask. Thanks in advance.

    WafflesNSyrup wrote:

    So I understand that you originally thought incrementing (i) would somehow update (icon) since it uses (i) in an expression. But now you hopefully know this is not a magical expression language.
    I bet you would have also thought that this:
    int x = 1;
    int y = 2;
    int z = x + y;
    x = 42;
    y = 58;would have ended up with z having the value 100? It doesn't. It did the math once, when it executed the expression (x + y) and stored it in the variable (z). So z == 3, regardless of what happens to x or y after the fact.

  • Please help with the GUI quiz question!

    Hi Folks,
    Please help me with the code for the following GUI.
    The display window of the application should have two panels at the top level (you could have multiple panels contained within a top-level panel). The first top level panel should have a grid or a border layout and should include apart from various label objects: 1) a textfield to store the info entered, 2) a combobox 3) a combobox or a list box , 4) a radio-button group , 5) a combo box 6) checkboxes for additional accessories, and 7) checkboxes .
    The second top-level panel that is placed at the bottom of the window should have a submit button, a clear button and a textarea for output.
    Thanks a lot.

    Please be a little more explicit about what you're doing, what you expect to happen, and what you actually observe.
    Please post a short, concise, executable example of what you're trying to do. This does not have to be the actual code you are using. Write a small example that demonstrates your intent, and only that. Wrap the code in a class and give it a main method that runs it - if we can just copy and paste the code into a text file, compile it and run it without any changes, then we can be sure that we haven't made incorrect assumptions about how you are using it.
    Post your code between [code] and [/code] tags. Cut and paste the code, rather than re-typing it (re-typing often introduces subtle errors that make your problem difficult to troubleshoot). Please preview your post when posting code.
    Please assume that we only have the core API. We have no idea what SomeCustomClass is, and neither does our collective compiler.
    If you have an error message, post the exact, complete error along with a full stack trace, if possible. Make sure you're not swallowing any Exceptions.
    Help us help you solve your problem.

    Have you tried using some other layouts... GridBagLayout is a complicated thing to figure out... Might be easier to use some nested panels with different layouts... Particularly, look at SpringLayout.

  • Help with dynamic GUI in NetBeans

    Hey all,
    I'm new here and was looking for help. I'm trying to create a GUI which is dynamic. I want a JPanel (I think this is the proper component) that will be dynamically populated with other modules, namely other JPanels defined as classes. This JPanel is within a JDialog. Ive been trying things like this:
    myPanel.add(new myNewPanel)inside of a the index changed method but the panel is not being added. I feel like I'm doing something fundamentally wrong. Does anyone have any words of advice??
    Thanks

    Of course JDialog has a pack() method.
    If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
    Don't forget to use the [Code Formatting Tags|http://forum.java.sun.com/help.jspa?sec=formatting], so the posted code retains its original formatting.

              authUsername = component3.getText();
              authPassword = component4.getText();
              JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(frame, authUsername);
              JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(frame, authPassword);COuld you implement this into my script, as i'm having lots of difficulties.

  • I need help with the GUI nad Graphic 2D....

    Hi
    i'm kind new to java and i have couple of questions... all my questions about the GUI...
    when i want to create a GUI programe , and when i want to draw a graphic with GUI, i do that way(code)
    "public class x1 extends JPanle{
         public void PaintComponent(Graphic g){
    My questions:
    1) why do i have to extend from JPanle ??
    2) Why do i use paintcomponent??? why i couldn't use directly 'Graphic g' ??
    This code i get it from the book, this is how it is done...
    Also, if i want to draw some shapes(rec, circle ..etc) and i want to put Button and organize them, how could i do that???
    i tried to organize the button after i draw the rectangle but i can't... all becaus of the stupid way'the code that i wrote it', i hope there is an alternative way.
    My last question... how can i change the font ???
    i want to use 'sans comic'...
    Thanks alot....

    all my questions about the GUI...and that's your problem right there.
    Your questions tell me that you're missing quite a few fundamentals of programming in Java. There's nothing wrong with that, everyone starts this way. But if you try to do any GUI programming at your current level you will run head-first into many, many problems that could be easily avoided if you concentrate on learning the basics first.
    when i want to create a GUI programe , and when i want to draw a graphic with GUI, i do that way(code)
    "public class x1 extends JPanle{That code doesn't compile. It's JPanel, not JPanle. Please post only compiling code (or near it, if you've got a question about a compiler error).
         public void PaintComponent(Graphic g){"paintCompontent", not "PaintComponent".
    Oh, and in the future please use the CODE-Button when posting code (1. copy+paste code 2. select code 3. press "CODE" just above the text area).
    My questions:
    1) why do i have to extend from JPanle ??You don't have to. You can, if you want your class to be a specific type of JPanel.
    2) Why do i use paintcomponent??? why i couldn't use directly 'Graphic g' ??How would you "directly use Graphic g"?
    That's the way the framework is written. Components draw themselves using that method. If you want to change how they draw themselves you can override that method.
    Did you read the chapter that tells you this or did you simply copy out the code example? The examples are there to illustrate the points and help you understand. They are not a *substitute* to actually reading the text.
    Also, if i want to draw some shapes(rec, circle ..etc) and i want to put Button and organize them, how could i do that???Finish reading the book, write some basic programs and then work on from there.
    You're trying to learn a feature and produce a useful product at the same time. I can tell you from experience that this is a very bad idea.
    i tried to organize the button after i draw the rectangle but i can't... How did you try?
    all becaus of the stupid way'the code that i wrote it', i hope there is an alternative way.You didn't show us your attempt so we can't tell you any alternative.
    My last question... how can i change the font ???
    i want to use 'sans comic'... Hm ... "Comic Sans" is the name. And that's not a font. [It's a desease|http://bancomicsans.com/].

  • Need help with Java GUI

    I'm a bit unfamiliar with the features of the Java GUI which I'm using for an online game I'm making. Specifically, I can't move around the different components the way I want to. I want to have my game on one frame, but made up of 3 different parts. The top half will be the the actual game where the images are displayed, then below that will be a scroll pane to show all the messages the player has received, and the bottom part will be a text field so the player can send messages. I have the text field and scroll pane working, but the problem is that the scroll pane takes up the entire screen (except for the text field) and I can't find any way to resize it and move it to the bottom, just above the text screen, the way I want it to be. I'm using JTextField for the text field, and JDisplayArea and JScrollPane for the scroll pane.
    Here are two images in case you can't visualize what I am saying. This is what it looks like now:
    http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/1294/beforeob1.jpg
    And this is how it should be:
    http://img127.imageshack.us/img127/8724/aftedzu7.jpg
    Help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Does the class that implement your game panel provide a meaningful return value for the method "getPreferredSize()"? I guess you use a BorderLayout, don't you? In this case the game panel isn't visible because it doesn't tell the LayoutManager what size it wants and so it gets a 0,0 size.
    Greetings
    Stefan

    Have you looked at these?
