  • Help with Panasonic 3CCD

Okay, so I am trying to import videos from my boss' Panasonic 3CCD via Firewire, but when I plug it into the computer, it won't even recognize there is a camera in Final Cut Studio 2. I have next to no knowledge on Firewire. I tried finding forms on it...but I didn't get much luck. I don't even know what the difference between Firewire 400 and 800 is. All I know is that the cord fits perfectly into the DV of the camera and my Firewire port of my computer. Is there some sort of special Firewire firmware I need to get....or some way I need to create a Firewire network???
I do have the camera plugged into the wall btw. I know sometimes going of of battery power can screw things up.

Firewire cameras do not show up on the desktop like little hard drives.
To what computer model are you connecting the camera?
With everything turned off (camera and computer), turn on the camera, then start the computer.
When both devices are up and running, in the computer go to SYSTEM PROFILER. Look in the Hardware> firewire catagory. Does the camera show up?
If not, you have a firewire issue. One of the ports (cam or computer) isn't functioning or the cable is no good.
If it does show up, launch iMovie. Does iMovie see the camera and can it capture a bit of video?
If not, there is something off with the camera settings
If so, you should be able to capture in FCP.
    To capture in FCP
Launch FCP, select DV/NTSC 48khz from the Easy Presets to set up your capture settings
Open up the log and capture dialog. Your camera should be there.

  • Help With Panasonic DCM-LX1 RAW Compatibility with iPhoto

Can someone share their successful experience of importing RAW files into iPhoto from their Panasonic LX1? I posted this question earlier but all replies were lost somewhere in web Limbo when sent to my email. My Mac will import photo and video files from the LX1 in a JPEG & TIFF format but will not recognize and will not import photos shot in RAW, my personal format choice. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I have the same camera so i checked out the raw images--sorry no spots show up.

  • Please help with a new dual purpose PC build

    Hi everybody in AdobeLand!
I've been reading various boards and hardware sites and have started piecing together a dual purpose computer system.  It will be used for both video editing (of pre-shot hacked, high bitrate I-Frame Panasonic GH2 DSLR and camcorder footage using the AVCHD codec @ 1080p 24 and 30 fps) and webcasting/streaming purposes.  I would build two computers for each task, but it's just not in the budget right now.  I'm already stretching things as is.
I'm still not sure if I will be using Adobe Premiere or Sony Vegas Pro 12 yet, though it seems like they organize their folders and file structures about the same.  Adobe's cloud service has me a bit scared off right now.  This new scheme feels like they have their hand purpetually in your wallet, which does not sit well with me.  I may still go with Vegas 12 just to avoid that hassle right now.  Help guide me here, experts!  Telestream's Wirecast is being used for multi-cam switching and graphics for live and pre-recorded material being compressed and streamed.
    Back on topic:
Here's the build as of right now...
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit Professional (Windows 8 absolutely sucks!)
CPU: Intel i7-4930k 6-Core Ivy Bridge (own)
    Motherboard: Asus P9X79 Pro (own)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix 1.35v Sport DDR3L @ 32 GB (own)
GPU:  EVGA GTX 770 FTW w/ 4 GB (will buy another HD monitor at a later date, hence the 4GB memory)
Case:  Fractal Design XL R2 Full Tower
    CPU Cooling:  Noctua NH-D14 w/ SE2011 Bracket
    PSU: Corsair RM1000 Quiet Series / 80 Plus Gold / 1000 Watts
    Monitor: Dell U2412M Ultrasharp 24 inch / 1920x1200
    Optical Drive: LG Blu-ray Writer
    Keyboard: Microsoft 4000 Ergonomic
HDMI capture cards: Blackmagic Designs Decklink Mini (x2)
    Storage:
I bought two Samsung 840 Pro SSD drives:  one 128 GB and one 256 GB
    Thinking about possibly 2 (maybe 3-4 if I really stretch) Seagate ST3000DM001 3TB HDD's.
I could sure use your help with any advise on arranging the storage to get the best bang vs. buck in speed and storage utilization (Wirecast can be setup to record live webcast sessions at 720p or 1080p in compressed files... probably no more than 120 minute webcasts... so that comes into play as well).  Just don't have the funds for an uber-expensive RAID controller card right now.
Any opinions overall on the parts for the current build?  I still have time to send back and exchange anything already purchased.
Thank you for your time and consideration.

What do you not understand from:
With all the reading and writing going on, on the boot disk, it is understandable you need a (number of) dedicated disk(s) for video editing, especially with the bandwidths required when the clip duration is short and the number of tracks exceeds one and uses a codec more complex than DV. The kind of files used during editing are, in order of their need for speed:
Media cache & Media cache database files, created on importing media into a project. They contain indexed, conformed audio and peak files for waveform display.
Typically small files, but lots of them, so in the end they still occupy lots of disk space.
Preview (rendered) files, created when the time-line is rendered for preview purposes, the red bar turned to green. Read all the time when previewing the time-line.
Project files, including project auto-save files, that are constantly being read and saved as auto-save files and written when saving your edits.
Media files, the original video material ingested from tape or card based cameras. Typically long files, only used for reading, since PR is a non-destructive editor.
Export files, created when the time-line is exported to its final delivery format. These files are typically only written once and often vary in size from several hundred KB to tens of GB.
When you are doubting which category of files to put on which kind of disk, especially when using both SSD's and HDD's, keep in mind that the speed advantage of SSD's over HDD's is most noteworthy with the Media cache & Media cache database. These files are frequently accessed, are small and there are many, so reducing latency and seek times and increasing transfer rates pays off by putting these on a SSD, rather than on a HDD, even if it is a raid0. Export files can go to the slowest volume on your system, since you only export once. To help you decide, I have added priority rank-numbers for speed, with 1 for the fastest volume and 5 for the least speed-demanding category.
    and
Well, in the benchmark tests we have not seen any noticeable difference between SSD and HDD in terms of performance, but logic dictates that there should be a small difference in performance when the volume used for media cache is a SSD, because of the much faster access time and lower latency compared to a conventional disk. If it is noticeable, it is specifically on this volume with the media cache and media cache database, due to the large amount of small files that need to be accessed and written. This argument does not apply to the media volume with a limited number of files, that are very big in size.

  • Can iMovie be used with Panasonic AVCHD camcorder?

Have a friend who came back from Japan with a camera so new, its not yet available here. It's the Panasonic HDC-DX1-S, and it records HD on 3-inch discs.
He wants to be able to import the footage into iMovie, but I've had little luck. I am familiar with converting MPEG2 files from SD DVD camcorders into quicktimes that can be imported into iMovie, but I've never worked with an HD DVD camcorder like this. From what I've found, it burns discs in Blu-Ray format, not the HD DVD format supported by Apple.
A finalized disc does mount on my desktop, but DVD Player cannot play it. It has two folders at the root - AVCHDTN and BDMV. AVCHDTN contains only two files - thumbnail.tdt2 and thumbnail.tidx - so I don't believe it contains the video footage (the playback on the camcorder indicates 14 clips available for playback). BDMV has 4 folders, two of which are empty, and only one that has sufficient data - 1.29 GB - to account for the video files. It contains 40 files with an "m2ts" extension. I cannot copy these files to by desktop (error -50) or open them directly from the disk.
Although the packaging is all in Japanese, it does have a chart on the box that says it's compatible with "Mac OS X, Power PC 400 MHz <and up>". However, there is no software in the box, nor is there any available for download from Panasonic's web site, either in Japan or in the US.
    Any ideas?

Been rattling around the net for a few weeks to try and come up with a solution. Firstly I can't get Mpeg Streamclip to convert anything, Fails everytime and .MTS isn't a recognised format, Also MP4 converter & Video Converter produce the same thing. I have the extra QT plug in. Didn't help.
Panasonic told me to just component lead the cam into a standard DVD recorder to archive the disks in Standard def.
However if you copy the file structure from the SD card and burn onto a DVD R, Using a mac or on a pc using the supplied software. The files stay in AVCHD format and can be read and veiwed using a Playstation 3, or the new Panasonic TV's have SD slots that can read the AVCHD files straight of the card, a bit pointless as this only bypasses connecting the camera to the TV.
So I'm still looking for a solution to edit or convert .MTS files, oh and does anyone know if a .MTS( panasonic) is the same as sony's .m2ts ??
For the time being I'm archiving footage as AVCHD on standard DVD's to be veiwed when I get around to buying a PS3.. Or will wait to get a new mac when they catch up...

  • Problem with Panasonic P2

I am new to this forum and hope someone can help me.
I shot video by Panasonic AG-HVX203 to shoot video in DVCPRO HD (1080/50i) format.  This is PAL format.  Video is stored in P2 card.  And then I import the MXF files to the timeline of Premiere CS4.  After edited, by the Dynamic Link sent to Encore which Project Preset is PAL 1440x1080 25.
With Encore, transcode the video with 1440x1080 25 Maximun Quality.  And then Build "Blu Ray Disc Image".  Finally, burn this Disc Image file to Blu Ray disc.
Play back this disc with Panasonic Blu Ray player BUT find out that the video resolution is 576p!!
I checked my workflow and tried many times to build different Disc Images.  But all blu ray disc is played back only with 576p quality.
I want to create a blu ray disc with 1080i quality.  What did I do wronly in my wrokflow?  Could you help?

    1.  Try encoding to Blu-Ray  (mpg2 or H.264) from Premiere using your 50i settings.
    2. Check the file after encoding to be sure it is 1440x1080 50i.
    3. Then start Encore and create a new HD project. Check under FILE, PROJECT SETTINGS that you have Blu-Ray selected with PAL 1440x1080 50i.
    4. Next import the Blu-Ray files you exported from Premiere into Encore.
    5. Burn your Blu-ray disk.
    Hope this helps.

  • Newbie Import Question - Shooting 4K with Panasonic GH4

I'm shooting 4K with a Panasonic GH4 and  would  like to know what file format is best to import and edit - AVCHD, .MOV or MPEG4, etc.
    Any guidance welcomed
    Thank you - Ross

    David,
    Thank you for the response.
Yes, I'm a novice and I'm using FCPX because I'm serious about the whole process /craft / art form and want to learn as much as possible and want as professional a result as possible. Good tools to begin with and now working on skills.
I'm shooting 4K and then will be down-resing to 1080 which is what most folks (pros and otherwise) seem to be doing with the Panasonic GH4 4K footage. Lot's more detail in edited video than shooting 1080 to begin with.  Also using 4K to help with when using one camera - I can punch in, use other parts of the frame for close-ups. etc.
My budget is not unlimited but I'm doing this for the business I own and my own pleasure so I'm making an investment in my business and myself. I've been shooting with a GH2 for awhile as well as Canon XF100s. I really enjoy the whole process and shooting industrial videos - instructional, educational, information mainly for my business.  I've paid my dues learning the business that I'm in now and know that education that can jump start the process is really beneficial. The learning curve is a bit steep but I am trying to learn as much as possible from others, my own mistakes and my occasional wins with beautiful images.
Anyone in LA, Ventura or Santa Barbara that shoots with a GH4 and editing with FCPX?
    Ross

  • Green tint in RAW previews with Panasonic

I upgraded Aperture to 3.3. Previously I used the terminal "iregister"command to fix the green tint problem with Aperture and my RAW images with Panasonic GF3. The problem came back after the update and the terminal fix does not work now. I also tried regenerating previews without success. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Raphael, you got me there
The lsregister fix is a puzzle to me as well - what Frank Caggiano probably would call woodoo and waving a dead chicken over the computer. But sometimes it magically seems to work. It can help, if the latest raw support is installed, but the system cannot find it for specific media kinds. The lsregister command indexes the database of supported media types know to the operating system (launchservices.db).  This fix has originally been posted by Alan Roseman:
Re: Aperture 3 preview of raw file greenish
But also read the following post, that explain how this is supposed to work and to correct the typo in the command (there is no blank in "LaunchServices.framework" - but it is impossible t post such a long line here)
In short: Quit Aperture, open the terminal, paste the  follwing text in (all in one single line) and hit return; then reboot the system.
    /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/LaunchSe rvices.framework/Versions/A/Support/lsregister -R /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Library

  • Lync 2013 with SIP trunk with panasonic kx-tde200

    Hi
My company has installed a panasonic ip-pbx kx-tde for multiline with 100 number range for telephone service.
Now my company is going to replace multiline by sip trunk . It will still work with Panasonic pbx box just need to reprogramme to be able to connected to the sip proxy which is managed by internet service provider.
For this scenario , would Lync 2013 voice work if I just add PSTN gateway which is the ip of panasonic pbx address to the frontend in topology ? Or I may need a mediation server as a must requirement  to make lync voice work?
    Thanks
    WenFei

Media bypass allow a call to basically skip the mediation server once it's established and go directly from gateway (in this case the PBX) and the endpoint (the telephone handset or Lync client) More information here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg398719.aspx
By having this (if your PBX supports it) you reduce the load on the mediation servers. Before you go too far down the road also make sure that your PBX supports SIP trunks that are SIP over TCP (as Lync doesn't work with SIP over UDP)
Sort of, the easiest way is to add the .com as an additional SIP domain in Topology builder, you will need to create DNS records for it (both internal and external) and you will need to reissue the certs with additional SANs to support the second domain.
YOu will also need to update all the users to use the new suffix of xxx.com. So it's not a small task.

  • Photo Booth with Panasonic NV-GS25

How to connect iSight with Panasonic NV-GS25?
I don't see any option to select either iSight or NV-GS25. I am able to record thro NV-GS25 directly into the Mac by using iMovie. I just wish to try the same with iSight as it is indicated in the help manual, but I don't any further details on how to go about doing it.
While using iChat, then I guess NV-GS25 can be connected to the video chat instead of iSight.
    thanks
    regards

    thanks for your feedback.
i am a bit hesitant as i am not quite familiar with applescript. i was worried that once running the applescript, it may be struck up in not knowing how to enable the iSight again, though the procedure for the same is given there.
just being over cautious, after disabling the iSight through the applescript, where will i have the option to select the external firewire panasonic NV-GS25? I wish it would have been better, if there was a drop down menu select item similar to iMovie where we can select iSight or the connected firewire Panasonic.

  • Macs and file sharing with Panasonic Lumix TS5

I'm trying to set up this camera to send my photos wirelessly to my IMAC but have hit a brick wall.  The instructions with the camera state wifi sharing is supported with OS X 10.4 to 10.8, and I am running 10.75.  The instructions are simple: find the file and enable sharing.  I've completed all the steps, and my camera finds my Imac fine, but then cannot find the shared folder.
I researched this and found that for a different Panasonic camera, despite what panasonic says, file sharing did not work for mac only environments. (http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3360154). I have contacted panasonic, and am beginning to believe the this is true for my camera as well.  I explained my problem and she first recommended to sign up for a lumix account.  Then it went from here:
Kerry-Ann W.: In the setup it states where a lumix club account is required to send images to lumix club cloud
Dave: Ok, do I understand correctly that I needed a lumix club account to transfer images wirelessly to my IMAC?
Kerry-Ann W.: No I am not saying that. There is some sharing settings that needs to be set on your computer. We recommend that you contact apple so they can assist you in adjusting those settings.
Dave: Ok, I've signed up for a lumix club account. Will that help me transfer my images to the mac?
Kerry-Ann W.: We recommend that you contact apple so they can assist you in adjusting the sharing settings on your IMAC.
Dave: Kerry-Ann, please help me. I've done exactly what the Lumix manual tells me to do with my mac and it's not working. You are supposed to help when the manual doesn't suffice. Isn't there any tips you can give me to try and make this work?
Kerry-Ann W.: That is correct and based on checks done if it is not seeing your folders that means there needs to be some settings done on your computer for it to see the folders and if that is not done then you will not be able to see the folders.
Dave: Ok, so will you help me get those settings done on my computer?
Kerry-Ann W.: We recommend that you contact apple so they can assist you in adjusting those settings.
I have no idea what settings she is referring to, and she offered no guidance at all.  Has anyone had any success file sharing with panasonic cameras?  Or has anyone else concluded this is hopeless?
    Thank you,
    Dave

I have run through 2 of these cameras (1st one died-Epic Panasonic Fail) and I'm stoked I found the easy fix. No thanks to PaniCsonic.
Connect your camera via USB to your MacBook. Don't worry that it won't show.
Go to System Preferences under the 'Apple' icon (top left corner for any newbies)
Select the 'Sharing' tab/folder (should be yellow diamond with a person walking to YOUR left direction)
    Select 'Internet Sharing'
A sub menu 'To computers using' will open up to the right with 3 boxes/options:
    1) Firewire
    2) Ethernet
    3) Bluetooth PAN
Select Bluetooth PAN box so it check marks as selected.
    Click the 'Internet Sharing' box.
Select 'Start' when the prompt asks if you are sure you want to turn on Internet sharing.
The 'Internet Sharing' box will then select.
Your camera will then prompt you to select a USB mode. Select 'PC'.
Wait through the access mode and VOILA, your photos will be uploaded straight to iPhoto as they should do in the first place.
I like the camera for it's simplistic functionality. I had a slick Olympus underwater that had the same features, but was more time in navigating through them all. I don't like PaniCsonic for their poor foresight in making this camera an austosetup feature for Mac users. My iPhone didn't like it much either.
Nonethless, there's the fix. For/from me.

  • IPhone 4S compatible with Panasonic KX-TG7743S Link-to-Cell?

Does anyone know if the reported problem between the iPhone 4S and the Panasonic KX-TG7743S cordless telephone been resolved?
    Thank you,
    Jan

No. I haven't tested this, but from what I can tell it won't work.
Panasonic has a list of supported cell phones here -> Headset ComplatibleList with Panasonic products
& Apple has a list of supported Bluetooth profiles here -> iOS: Supported Bluetooth profiles
If you want to give it a shot anyway, this might help ya out -> iOS: Third-party Bluetooth headsets, headphones, and keyboards

  • Help with if statement in cursor and for loop to get output

I have the following cursor and and want to use if else statement to get the output. The cursor is working fine. What i need help with is how to use and if else statement to only get the folderrsn that have not been updated in the last 30 days. If you look at the talbe below my select statement is showing folderrs 291631 was updated only 4 days ago and folderrsn 322160 was also updated 4 days ago.
I do not want these two to appear in my result set. So i need to use if else so that my result only shows all folderrsn that havenot been updated in the last 30 days.
    Here is my cursor:
/*Cursor for Email procedure. It is working Shows userid and the string
You need to update these folders*/

    AND vu.statuscode = 1
    GROUP BY assigneduser, vu.emailaddress, f.folderrsn, f.indate
    ORDER BY fp.assigneduser;
    BEGIN
    FOR c1 IN c LOOP
    IF (c1.assigneduser = v_assigneduser) THEN
    dbms_output.put_line(' ' || c1.folderrsn);
    else
    dbms_output.put(c1.assigneduser ||': ' || 'Overdue Folders:You need to update these folders: Folderrsn: '||c1.folderrsn);
    END IF;

    v_emailaddress := c1.emailaddress;
    v_subject := 'Subject: Project for';
    END LOOP;
    END;
The reason I have included the folowing table is that I want you to see the output from the select statement. that way you can help me do the if statement in the above cursor so that the result will look like this:

How do I incorporate a if else statement in the above cursor so the two days less than 30 days since last update are not returned. I do not want to send email if the project have been updated within the last 30 days.

Hoping for some help with a very frustrating issue!
I have been syncing calendar and contacts on my iPhone 5 and Outlook 2007 using iCloud  2.1.3 (my PC is running Vista). All was well until the events I entered on the phone were showing up in Outlook, but not the other way around. I’ve tried the usual recommended steps: deselecting calendar and contacts in the iCloud control panel and then re-selecting, signing out of the panel and back in, and repairing the Outlook installation in control panel.  I even uninstalled iCloud on the PC and downloaded it again (same version).
The furthest I’ve gotten is step 2 (and once, step 3) of 7 while performing “Outlook Setup For iCloud.” At that point I get, “Your setup couldn’t be started because of an unexpected error.”  After the first attempt at all this, all my calendar events disappeared from Outlook, although they are still in iCloud calendar and on my phone.
Sound familiar?  Any ideas on how to solve this iCloud/Outlook issue?  Thanks much in advance!
