Help with Pantone Plus Swatches

I posted a query to Pantone a month ago, but still no answer so I'm hoping someone can help please:
I have the CMYK coated Plus Series and wish to use them in InDesign CS5. I can't see them listed under Swatches > Color Mode. There is Process Coated but the colors are not the same and are incomplete. I have also installed myPantone 1.5.
My monitor is calibrated but colors don't seem to match up. How can I use the guides please?
I'm on OS X 10.6.7 on a new iMac.

Have you installed the Pantone Plus library into InDesign?
If not, go here
http://www.pantone.com/pages/Pantone/Pantone.aspx?pg=20721&ca=1
the utility to install it is near the bottom of the page.

  • Can't find Process colours in Pantone Plus swatch palette

Hello All. I'd really appreciate some help with how you find certain pantone colours in the Pantone Plus swatch palete in Illustrator CS4.
I recently downloaded and installed this upgrade to complete a job and now I'm wishing I hadn't bothered! I can't seem to find most of the 'basic' colours like Process Magenta, Process Green etc all the colours that used to appear at the 'top' of the swatch palette when it was plain old Pantone. The find field is no use whatsoever as I can't seem to find any combination of phrases that select the colours I want. If I put in 'process' because I'm looking for process cyan or process magenta it just selects process blue instead. Its extremely frustrating!
Am I missing something obvious? Does anyone have a solution, please?
    Many thanks.
    Simon.

In the swatches panel: open swatch library> select all the swatches in the pop up> click on the flyout menu icon and choose add to swatches

  • I am missing colors in my Adobe Pantone Plus Library that are in my physical Pantone Plus Swatch Book.

I have the most recent Illustrator downloaded and the Pantone Plus Library however I cannot find some Pantone numbers that are in my physical Pantone Plus book. One specifically is PMS Blue 2384.
    What do I do?

Thanks but that is not the problem. I figured it out. You have to download Pantone Color Manager Software and use the serial number from your registered Pantone Plus book to register the software. Once you do that then you can download the extra 360 colors and then export them to the Adobe programs...
Pain in the *** but it's the only way to get the extra colors in the Pantone plus book to your adobe Pantone Plus Library. The new Library is called Pantone+ V2.
Thank you for the response though!

  • Integrating Oracle Help with Discoverer Plus

    Folks -
Has anyone tried integrating Oracle Help with Discoverer Plus. I want to add my customized help (generated in RoboHelp - Oracle) to the help in Discoverer Plus. Is this doable? I don't want to use Oracle Help exclusively unless I need to.

    Hi, Johnny.
I think you might have better luck getting your question answered on the forum for Discoverer at Discoverer
I'm not sure whether Discoverer supports extensions, but I would assume that they do in some way. Discoverer ought to provide a standard mechanism for extensions to provide help content.

  • Help with Pantone+ colors?

I know this has been posted many times but I have not been able to track down an answer...
I'm working on Illustrator CC and looking to create a logo with PMS colors. I know the CMYK breakdown of a certain color, PMS 467, (9, 15, 34, 0), as we've been using it for years. When I go to use that color in CC, it's much darker and different.
I looked here (http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/pantone-plus.html) and tried to remove the Pantone+ libraries and replaced with Pantone from my old CS5. The problem is still occurring. Maybe it just isn't set to realize this? When I select color books though, the + is definitely gone, but the color is still off.
It's not practical for me to use my old laptop with CS5, it's way too old and slow.
Is there ANYTHING anyone knows on how to get through this? I know the people I am doing this logo for are going to want the PMS and the CMYK colors and I know they aren't going to be on CC/CS6. I desperately need the older color books on CC.
Thank you so much in advance!!!

Hi Monica - I should have mentioned in my original post - I did indeed do that.... still not working correctly

  • Need help with SQL*PLUS!

I have just downloaded Oracle SQL*PLUS 9.2.0.1.0, but I am not able to use it because I do not know the "password", "user name" and "host string". Can anybody please help me with this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Flo

The username & password are your database username & password. If you don't know these, you'll have to contact your DBA to find out.
The host string is the alias you used when you configured TNS on your machine. Most commonly, this is done by editing the tnsnames.ora file or by using Net8 Easy Config.

  • Help with Pre Plus turning off and not restarting

I've had my Pre Plus since 2010 without issues until I went to Arizona in April.  It turned off by itself and it's never been the same since.  I think I've got the cause narrowed down to either overheating and/or prolonged phone/web use.  It's warmer now in Portland and the phone turns off more frequently.  It's happened every day since April.
The frustrating part is that it won't restart until it cools off.  So, if I'm at home, I put it in the freezer to get it restarted faster.
Sometimes, I get the palm/rom message but going through that process hasn't helped.
Also, this happens with the original battery and the extended battery.
Does anyone have a fix or recommendation for this?  Thanks!
Post relates to: Pre Plus p100una (AT&T)

Two things to try; most likely you phone actually has an issue and you need to set up at appointment at your nearest apple store ot have it fixed (apple.com/retail) pick whatever store is closest.
However; windows computers often "attack" ipods or iphones thinking they are a virus. You may want to turn off your virus protection and plug the phone in again and try restoring it without any virus stuff on.
However, it sounds as long it's not a software issue but a hardware one and restore won't fix that.

    Hi,
I hope you are thinking of Creating a Table with the Same Structure as the remote database Table, If so.
You can create a Table from the Existing Table using CTAS(Create Table as Select).
Provided, you have created a Database Links between the 2 Databases. You can create a
    table in your Schema as,
    CREATE TABLE local_db_table AS
    SELECT * FROM remote_user_name.remote_db_table@dbname;Thanks,

  • Help with iTunes Plus/ DRM purchases!

I have several songs that i have purchased on iTunes. When i got the message from iTunes that i could get half my library upgraded to iTunes Plus/DRM free i upgraded. I got a message saying that i could keep my DRM/old purchases in a old folder i clicked yes. A few days before this i backed up all my purchases onto a disc, anyways some how they ended up on my library so i ended up with all doubles of my iTunes purchased music. So now i have triple copies of my purchases and i am trying to free up space. How do i delete the old copies/DRM purchases? How do i know what songs are iTunes Plus quality so i don't erase those ? Please help this is making my head hurt!

    Hi There
I have had this same problem, I solved it by going to the file menu in iTunes and selecting "Show Duplicates" then selecting the purchased duplicates and pressing command + i and under the summary tab looking at the file kind (located under the album art). The DRM versions of your songs will have Protected AAC audio file and the DRM free versions will have Purchased AAC audio file. Then Manually deleting the Protected AAC audio file copies. This is time consuming and an annoyance but I have found no other way of doing this.
    Hope this helps

  • Need help with Pixi Plus setup on Telstra Australia

If any one can help i would be very grateful.
I'm in Australia and wanted to try out a WebOS phone as a replacement for my Treo 680.
I did the research and found that AT&T GSM phones will work here in Australia.
I found a new unactivated Pixi Plus on eBay, as it was the same WebOS as Pre thought i would give it a try and bought it.
So my new Pixi Plus arrived three weeks ago, put my sim in and found it was locked to AT&T. I rang AT&T and was told it will be locked till end of December because of there system. The eBay seller said it was locked and may be able to be unlocked.
I found a way around this problem as i didn't want to wait that long.
I ordered a Rebelsim Card that arrived a few days ago, put it in and seems to work. Now have Telstra Mobile in the top corner.
    Now my problem really starts.
I can't get onto the web to activate and set up my '' cloud ''
My phone is asking for APN:
    I have tried:
    telstra.iph
    telstra.internet
    Nothing works.
I can't get out of this screen without a APN:
This APN: thing i didn't find out untill i got the phone. Can't find much info at all on the subject.
Why is Palm making it so difficult, don't they want to sell phones.
Had no problems with my 650 and 680's bought form overseas.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please.
    Thanks

  • Pantone Plus help

Using InDesign CS6 — I bought the new Pantone Plus swatch books, but the "new" colors (ei: 2294U) don't exist in InDesign list. What do I do to get all these "new" colors?

You should be able to download them from Pantone's web site. It is a difficult web site to find things at times. If you cannot find them, let me know and I will export one out for you.
    Take care, Mike

  • Pantone PLUS color definitions

One of the frustrating things with working with spot colors in the past has been that the CMYK equivalents that Adobe products used, didn't match the equivalents that Pantone provided in their books. I've seen hints that with Pantone Plus, that may no longer be a problem. Does anyone know for sure whether the Pantone Plus color definitions will be consistent from CS products across the Pantone books?
    Thanks!

Adobe default CMYK value for a spot color is the Solid to Process value. To see this:
    1. Add Pantone 293 Solid Coated to Swatches. You will see the CMYK icon. Wave the cursor over this icon: C=100, M=57, Y=0, K=2.
    2. Add Pantone 293 Solid to Process. Wave your cursor over the CMYK icon: C=100, M=57, Y=0, K=2.
Adobe maintains this behavior to match legacy files. If they changed behavior now, then future outputs would change, and consequently new printings could look different from previous printings. This problem was encountered by Quark users with the change to version 7, when the Quark default switched from Solid to Process to Color Bridge Coated.
    To download Pantone Plus libraries:
    http://www.pantone.com/pages/Pantone/Pantone.aspx?pg=20721&ca=1
In previous post PDF mentioned Lab values, and that is the better way to convert Pantone colors to CMYK. But to do this you need to open the Ink Manager through the Swatches panel (in InDesign). Enable "Use Standard Lab Values for Spots". (note: Illustrator has a similar option, although it does not have an Ink Manager like InDesign). Notice that the CMYK icon changes to a Lab icon in the Swatches panel.
The conversion from Lab to CMYK is affected by the rendering intent and the Document CMYK color space. To see these, go to Edit: Assign Profiles.
If you have a spot color in InDesign, it is much better to make it process using the Ink Manager, instead of changing the color mode of the Swatch. If you need to convert one ink but not another, click on the spot icon in the Ink Manager to convert just one.
Regarding Pantone Plus: the Lab values of the spot colors have changed from the older Pantone libraries, along with the book CMYK values.
Edit: To see all the active inks in InDesign or Illustrator, use Separation Preview.

  • Help with determining PANTONE swatches accurately

I've recently designed a logo for an event. It's a 3-color design done entirely using process colors. The client would like the PANTONE equivalent of each color, however, and I'm having a lot of trouble figuring this all out (I'm a bit of a prepress newbie).
First of all, I have a lot of questions about the LAB view vs. CMYK view for spot colors in Illustrator:
    1) The difference between the two is HUGE. In CMYK view, there is less subtlty, but the colors are vibrant and versatile. In LAB view, I can access certain colors I can't otherwise get, but most of the palette is desaturated and muddy. Is it supposed to be this way?
    2) Supposedly, the LAB view for spot colors is relatively new in Illustrator. Considering how far off-base the CMYK versions of each spot swatch is, how was anyone getting work done before this feature was added? I don't understand how I could have even hoped to do spot color work using the CMYK swatches in older versions. They're entirely different colors in many cases. I must be missing something.
    3) Is it accurate to say that, monitor calibration notwithstanding, and all other things being equal, the LAB view of a given spot color is more "accurate" than the CMYK version? If this is the case, the PANTONE uncoated library of solids is incredibly dull and muddy, because that's how it looks in LAB mode. I've been browsing a physical PANTONE book as well, and the colors don't appear to be nearly as bad in real life. My monitor may not be perfect, but I can't believe it's so poorly calibrated that the colors could look THIS different.
    4) When viewing my work in LAB view, one of my colors translates perfectly from CMYK, while another doesn't even come close when attempting to match it with a spot color. In CMYK view, it's reversed-- the first color looks terrible, while the second actually comes pretty close. Which version can I trust? They're total opposites, making the final selection of a single swatch impossible. I'm not sure what to give my client-- if they're using an older version of Illustrator (which is likely), they'll have to see this in CMYK mode, and it will look terrible. Even a PDF I exported doesn't look right in Acrobat. How should I be approaching this?
As you can see, the seemingly simple task of selecting PANTONE swatches for 3 CMYK colors has turned into a bit of a mess. Any help with these confusions of mine would be hugely appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Aleister,
my simple advice concerning Spots, is this:
Buy a swatch book for Pantone Spot Coated and a swatch
book for CMYK for your Process Coated, as recommended
by your printing company (here ISO Coated, maybe SWOP
    elsewhere).
Then compare visually the chosen Spot and a matching
    process color.
If there is no good match, then you can print only
    by Spot.
If you've found matching pairs, then you can print
letterheads by Spots and 4-color brochures by CMYK.
Personally, I'm using as equivalents for Spots only
two-color process colors, if e.g. a logo has to be
designed. This leads to minimal registration errors.
Another ugly truth is, that even an accurately calibrated
proof printing system by inkjet cannot reproduce plenty
    Spots sufficiently accurate.
Meanwhile you may try to investigate all this by a true
    Lab doc for common Spots:

  • Pantone Plus Color Bridge Swatches don't match

    Hi
I have used a Pantone Plus Color Bridge swatch (specifically Pantone 115 CP - yellow) in my inDesign CC 2014 project.
I have an illustrator .eps file, created in Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 placed in the document. I have used the same Pantone Plus Color Bridge swatch in the .eps file.
When printed there is a VERY noticeable difference between the yellow swatch in the inDesign document and the Illustrator placed graphic.
It looks "correct" in the Illustrator placed graphic, i.e. it matches the swatch book but where the swatch has been used in inDesign, it seems to have shifted to an almost green hue.
Could anyone explain why this might have happened?
    Thanks

In your bottom capture the 187 swatch is from the the legacy Pantone library where solid color swatches were defined as CMYK. Here I'ved saved the old pre CS6 coated library and 187 is defined as a spot color but with CMYK values:
Starting with CS6 the solid swatches are Lab definitions and if you chose to convert them to process CMYK, the conversion is color managed Lab to CMYK and the results will depend on your document's CMYK profile and not a Pantone set value. If you select the swatch and look at the Color panel you can see the definition is Lab and the type is Spot:
If you don't want a color managed conversion for CMYK simulations use Pantone + Color Bridge, those swatches are defined as CMYK and the Type is Process
