Help with password recovery
Please help me to stop stressing about it.Last year i open an account for my mom on her phone, now today she texted me she cant use it anymore because i guess app had update and log her out and i dont know which password did i use. I tried recovery but then she doesnt know to use email to see recovery link and i cant log in on her account because i dont know password again. She is 63 years old and this is her first android, no skills what so ever. And here is an suggestion, there is thousands people like my mom who doesnt know how to recover or sign in back, and no help around to resolve the problem so after an update it would be nice if they dont need to sign in again, who ever has that issue skype or android to fix it.
I have a 2501 that I am using for CCNA practice. After reading this thread I decided to try to interrupt the boot sequence on my router as a learning experience.
I too am unable to do so!
Perhaps I am mistaken about what the "break key" is when using hyper terminal.
I assumed that it meant holding down the "Ctrl" key while pressing the "c" key. Is this correct?
The book that I am using is very vague on this point.
Also Hyper Terminal can be configured with many options. [ANSI or VT100 etc.] Could a specific configuration be needed for the break function to work?

Notice that the first question is whether you want to erase the configuration - you respond with yes, and the router continues booting. The second question displayed clearly shows that the router continues loading the configuration file and in particular processes the no service password-recovery command.
What would happen if you answered with n to this second question, preventing the router from accepting the no password-recovery stored command? Could you reload the router afterwards and try the password recovery procedure again?
Also, if this router has a removable Flash card, would you be able to enter the ROMMON and set the configuration register to 0x2142 if you removed the card and tried booting the router?

Dear all, I have a HP G71-343 laptop running Windows 7 64 bit. The hard drive was broken. I bought a new hard drive and boot from DVD rom to recover system using recovery DVD disk. However, before the installation start, I got a message said:
"recoverymgr.exe application error. The instruction at OX400e764f referenced memory at OX00000000. The memory could not be read. Click OK to terminate the program.. "
I tried different new hard drive but always got the same message and the installtion failed. Does anyone know what is the message mean and how to solve this problem? Thanks a lot.

Assuming this is just a problem with the recovery media, here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - this is listed as Windows 7 Home Premium ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. These Images are clean and from a well-respected source - Digital River.

Hi thanks for taking the time to read this. My laptop was running very rough so I put all my information onto my external hard drive. I wasn't thinking that my external would be locked if I re-downloaded windows 7 ultimate on my computer but guess what

Windows feature for Bitlocker Recovery Tool. You would enter the first 8 alphanumeric characters of the recovery key and it would provide the 48 character numeric recovery password.
I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 vm that does not appear to have that feature.

There are also a lot of references to Bitlocker Repair, which would probably work as well even though the drive isn't damaged, but you would need another drive on which to decrypt the data. But the link above should work for you. -
System Crash resulting in lost work...HELP with data recovery!

Usually it happens wen system crashes then it results into loss of all dat work...
But there are certains recovery tool that are used to recover lost data.
I think if u follow the following steps den u'll definately get a sol to this problem..
1.Install a recovery tool on some other system.
2.Place ur hard disc as secondry disc on this system
3.select ur crashed disc
4.Scan it through the recovery tool
5.and recover the lost data
u can use any of recovery tools like Advanced Disk Recovery,i found it worth...u can also try this....it is available on tucows -
IMAC Fusion Hard Drive failure, help with data recovery
I've got a Late 2012 iMAC 27 Inches 3.4GHZ with a Fusion 3.1TB HDD. My machine has booting issue the past few weeks and when contacted through Apple Care UK, after a few over the phone diagnostics they wanted me to take the machine over to get the Hard Drive checked. I had transferred some of my vital data from another HDD a few days before that and did not have an up to date backup. When booked in they said the HDD will have to be replaced and they will migrate the data over. But when I collected the machine, they said they couldn't transfer data as 'it didn't mount' and therefore unable to transfer. I was gutted as I have 2 wedding on their which were WIP and had to be delivered to the client in a few days. I have got my old HDD from the apple store...but unable to read data..can you help? Guess as a final resort I'd have to obtain the expensive data recovery services.

But before going for an expensive data recovery service, you have some other options.
At first you have to get that harddrive connected to your iMac. There are several solutions to that. One is to buy a SATA USB Docking Bay (see picture). You can put the harddisk in it and connect it via USB to your iMac.
Next you'll need recovery software. Disk Utility will probably not help you, but it is worth the try (because it is free and comes with OSX).
A great piece of software to look at is DiskWarrior. It once helped me accessing a dying External Harddisk and got most of the data off it before it really died. There are more applications, just google 'Data Recovery OSX', and you will find a lot more.
Oh, and make sure to start a good back-up plan for the future. Time Machine is great, or Carbon Copy Cloner, and maybe invest in a decent NAS to copy your data on.

Help with Password Management!!!
I am having a problem configuring my OID password management options... the Admin guide says that I can do it through Directory Manager by selecting the server in the left hand pane and editing the data on the password management tab... problem is I have no password management tab... it's not there!
So I notice that I can also use the command line tools to modidy the entry "cn=pwdpolicyentry,cn=oracle internet" directory. I assume that "cn=oracle internet directory" is the top level of my tree... doing a search for anything cn=* from the top level results in three things as follows... none of them are the entry I want:
cn=configset1,cn=metadird,cn=configsets,cn=oracle internet Directory
cn=odipgroup,cn=odi,cn=oracle internet directory
cn=odisgroup,cn=odi,cn=oracle internet directory
OK... so in desperation I attempt to add the entry "cn=pwdpolicyentry,cn=oracle internet directory" and the server says it already exists.
Seems to me there is something messed up with my Directoty Information Tree but I don't know why that would be (I just installed and the install gave me no errors) or how to fix it. Can someone please help???

ChrisQuerying the password policy entry can be a little bit tricky unless you are very familiar with LDAP. Here's the command that does the trick:

Help with password and authorization
I had a problem with my Kobo recently and had to reinstall both the Kobo and ADE on my computer. The 2.0 version did not work but I finally found the 172 and downloaded it. I cannot however get the 2 to connect and think I may have tried to many times. I decide to try getting books on my IPad and did not know if I needed to set up a new adobe account , but since the other did not seem to want to authorize anything I set up a new one, same email but different password. When I put the password in it kept telling me that it was the wrong one, and now I need to have my authorization count reset. How do I do that and do I use the same login and password for my computer and my IPad. My computer has Windows XP on it. Please can you help as I am lost without a book to read.

I have iDVD projects, but have lost the original iMovie files. They cannot be burned/exported (error), but I can open the iDVD project files via "Show Package Contents". There I find a resource folder with a large mpeg file, long gibberish name, and no extension. Putting a .mpg extension on allows me to open the video file with VLC (not Quicktime, error), where I can see the lost movie....but with NO SOUND. The audio track appears to be missing.
Is the sound file hiding somewhere? Can I extract it and join it back with the audio-less mpeg video I recovered?

Try connecting your AIR with a Ethernet cable dongle (gigabit thunderbolt to Ethernet)
However check with your network admin. about connection errors.
Worst case scenario, the folks at Apple store will restore it for you no charge if you make appt. for same. -
Help with Password Set up WRT54G
I set up this router forever ago and apparently it says I created a password, but I don't remember doing so and I have no idea what the password would be in order to set it up again on my computer. Is there a way to reset or use something else. I tried using Admin and that isn't working either. Please Help. Thanks
Have you been running an unsecured wireless network? With a router login password of "admin" ? If so, then most likely your neighbor wirelessly connected to your router (intentionally or unintentionally) and changed your login password.
The only way to remove the password is to reset the router to factory defaults, then setup the router again from scratch. After you have done this, to prevent this problem from recurring, be sure to change the login password from the default of "admin", and secure your wireless network.
To reset your router to factory defaults, use the following procedure:
1) Power down all computers, the router, and the modem, and unplug them from the wall.
2) Disconnect all wires from the router.
3) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
4) Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds, then release it, then let the router reset and reboot (2-3 minutes).
5) Power down the router.
6) Connect one computer by wire to port 1 on the router (NOT to the internet port).
7) Power up the router and allow it to fully boot (1-2 minutes).
8) Power up the computer (if the computer has a wireless card, make sure it is off).
9) Try to ping the router. To do this, click the "Start" button > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt. A black DOS box will appear. Enter the following: "ping 192.168.1.1" (no quotes), and hit the Enter key. You will see 3 or 4 lines that start either with "Reply from ... " or "Request timed out." If you see "Reply from ...", your computer has found your router.
10) Open your browser and point it to 192.168.1.1. This will take you to your router's login page. Leave the user name blank, and in the password field, enter "admin" (with no quotes). This will take you to your router setup page. Note the version number of your firmware (usually listed near upper right corner of screen). Exit your browser.
If you get this far without problems, try the setup disk (or setup the router manually, if you prefer), and see if you can get your router setup and working.
If you cannot get "Reply from ..." in step 9 above, your router is dead.
If you get a reply in step 9, but cannot complete step 10, then either your router is dead or the firmware is corrupt. In this case, use the Linksys tftp.exe program to try to reload your router with the latest firmware. After reloading the firmware, repeat the above procedure starting with step 1.
If you need additional help, please state your ISP, the make and model of your modem, your router's firmware version, and the results of steps 9 and 10. Also, if you get any error messages, copy them exactly and report back.

I have tried to reset my password and I do not recieve the email for this reset. I have had an issue with verifiying my account also as the email for the verification does not get sent to my account either. This has been going on for quite sometime. I have call support and they were of no help. I just want your systems to see my email address so I can log in.

Worrisome problem with Password Recovery
I'm an Italian user and use skype a few days ago but always entering my password on my account: marketing.strategy the system tells me my password is incorrect. I try and ripvoro but wrong. I do the procedure for the recovery thereof and it says that email I post there. Then dopoun few times that I post tells me that two Sorry but you are limited to security Reasons to the number of temporary codes Received Each Day. You have Reached That limit have today, Please try again in 24 hours. But how do I get the Code if the email does not exist. I note that the password I had changed a few days before and I was duly sent on the address code now says he is not among its records.
