Help with Photos on the iPad

Is there any waay to get photos (not iPhoto) on the iPad to keep your albums in the order htat you have them arranged in iPhoto on the Mac?
And to add a photo to an alabum (say, fro mthe Saved Photos)?
And of course, the perennial: to have Photos show the Titles and descriptions you give to the photos in iPhoto on hte Mac?
Also, is there any way to have it keep the Folders organization you can have for your albums on iPhoto onthe Mac?
Thanks

Hi.
Thanks for the reply.
To make it clearer, the problem is that I have my folders and albums in a certain order in iPhoto on my Mac.  But when I synch, it changes the order, and then to keep associated albums together I have to manually rearrange them. (I think this  wouldn't be a problem if iPad's Photos  supported folders of albums) .
Also, Photos seems to indicate that you can add a photo (from "Saved Photos") to an existing album, but when you try, the screen which comes up, titled "Add to Album", which shows the photo you selected, and the albums, won't respond--you can't seem to tap on the photo or move it to the album you have chosen.  Strange.

  • Help with Photo management for  iPad Air

I have an iPad Air & an iPhone 5 both set up with iCloud.  They have the latest updates.  The problem I'm having involves managing photos.  I collect a lot of photos, some taken by my phone but many saved from Internet searches and Social Media sites (FB).  I down loaded an iPhoto App. but it seems to do very little editing but other than that not much in the way managing pictures.  I need to understand how Photos are kept and organized.  When are they deleted?  How can I protect pictures and how long they are available.  My iPhone has like almost three hundred pictures on it yet my iPad has over 1,000 pictures.  Why doesn't it share all the photos to both devices thru iCloud?  I would like a manual to explain some of these questions.  Thank you.  Janis Wise

Photos taken or saved on the iPad are never deleted unless you delete them.
You can use the PhotoStream mechanism to share photos between your devices. See here:

  • HT201302 When I travel with my SLR I like to transfer all photos to the iPad so that they are more easily edited and viewed by others, using the camera kit.  Occasionally I would like to export photos - I have not found a way to do this.  Can you help?

I occasionally have the need to export photos from the iPad to an SD card (photos that were imported using the camera kit). This is useful for e.g. to print photos while travelling.  So far I have not found this functionality anywhere, including in any apps available on iTunes.  Can anyone help?

The camera connection kit can only be used to import photo/video files from a camera, SD card or USB flash drive. You can't import other types of files. You can't export any type of files using the camera connection kit.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream when enabled will only add photos from the camera roll that were taken post photostream activation. (Photostream does not currently share video)
Photostream only syncs photos over Wi-Fi, make sure you are connected to Wi-Fi to begin with.
Photostream only syncs when the camera app is closed, ensure it is closed.
Photostream only syncs when the battery is above 20%, try recharging the device
Try disabling photo stream on your device (settings > iCloud), restarting your device and then re-enabling photo stream.

There are two versions of the current iPad, the WiFi only (which will work anywhere in the world, but only connect to WiFi networks) and the 3G/4G model. The latter will connect to 3G networks worldwide, as I understand it, but the only 4G networks it can connect to are in the US and Canada.

  • HT4236 if i sync with ipad using pc will i lose my photos in the ipad phot library?

if i sync with ipad using pc will i lose my photos in the ipad phot library?

You won't lose photos that you've taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit or saved from emails/websites - those photos aren't affected by syncing.
If they are photos that were originally synced from a computer and this isn't the same computer, then you should be prompted as to whether you want them replacing - but there is a risk that they will be removed.

  • HT1848 How can I add photos to the iPad while not deleting any currently on it? I have some photos from my brother's camera that I can't get again.  How could save them onto my iMac?

I have uploaded photos from my brother's camera while on vacation to my iPad (1).  Now that I wish to add even more photos to the iPad,  iTunes say that it will replace all the photos once I sync again to add from an album on the iMac.
    WHOA.
I'd like to upload the photos to the iMac! HOw can I do that?
How can I add photos from albums on the iMac and not lose the ones I currently have stored onthe iPad.
I cannot find this task addressed in any Help reference.
I do not understand why I cannot make a simple file transfer back and forth.
    Many thanks!

Another way. You can use a USB flash drive & the camera connection kit.
Plug the USB flash drive into your computer & create a new folder titled DCIM. Then put your movie/photo files into the folder. The files must have a filename with exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension (i.e., my-movie.mov; DSCN0164.jpg).
Now plug the flash drive into the iPad using the camera connection kit. Open the Photos app, the movie/photo files should appear & you can import. (You can not export using the camera connection kit.)

  • How do I delete photos in the iPad version of iPhoto.

I am trying to delete photos in the iPad version of iPhoto's, any ideas

How photos are deleted depend on where they came from. Start iPhoto on your iPad and go to the screen with albums on the glass shelves. Tap the ? In the top left corner of the screen. After the help files load tap View and Organize Photos. Then tap Deleting photos at the bottom of the list.

  • How do you delete photos from the ipad?

how do you delete photos from ipad!

Deleting Photos from iPad: Faced withthis problem, I looked for and found that a few other people werealso worried about it. I use Windows XP Professional and have an iPad2 (16GB).
Deleting photos from the iPad turnedout to be quite easy after I connected the iPad to the PC with theUSB Cable. Using My Computer (in Windows Explorer) on the PC, I founda graphic showing a camera and a PC after clicking on the iPad 2. Allthe photos and videos in the iPad (not resident in any special apps)were displayed. Just to be safe, I first copied all photos, and videoclips, from iPad to a specially created folder on the PC. After thatit was easy to select all files on the iPad with CtlA and deletethem. I could have deselected any of them by Ctl and left click, if Ihad wanted to retain any on them on my iPad.
Earlier I had downloaded a PhotoTransfer app. This did not help in deleting but was nice for WiFitransfers of photos, especially between the iPad and the iPod. But Inow see better options for the same $2.99 price.
The app I would recommend is PhotoManager Pro by Linkus. It promises to do every action you may needrelated to handling photos on the iPad. But if you are an inveteratePicasa user, you could consider the $3.99 app Web Albums for iPad - APicasa Photo Viewer, Uploader, and Manager By Scott Sykora.
In short, not just deleting photos butmanaging them in various ways on the iPad has now become easy. Goodluck with your handling of it!

  • How do I delete imported photos on the iPad in less then 2000 clics?

    Hi.
I've been using the iPad to collect photos form my digital cameras.
I have a few thousand of such photos on my iPad.
Today I wanted to delete them (because they take a lot of memory and are synched anyway after correction).
I could only find how to delete them by selecting them one by one on the iPad .
On the Mac, I use Aperture, which has no option (AFAIK) for deleting imported photos.
How stupid is that that you can import thousands of photos on the iPad and not delete them in under 1000 clics?
I just found out that I still have iPhoto on my Mac, so I am going to import pictures from the iPad to iPhoto and use the option to delete them.
Anyone with a less ridiculous solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Jerome.

The iPad's file system is hidden and not accessible unless perhaps you have jailbroken the iPad.
Not jailbroken. The OP asked about photos that were imported, not sync'ed.
Quote: "I've been using the iPad to collect photos from my digital cameras.

The import photo albums generated using the CCK are accessable just like the "Saved Photos" album.

have the photos on the iPad been taken with the iPad camera or imported using the camera connection kit?
Or have they been synced to the iPad with iTunes?
You can download any photos to your mac by connecting the iPad by USB to to your Mac and import to Phots, but this way only photos from the Camera Roll will be imported.  If your photos have been synced with iTunes, you can only mail them to your mac.
See:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures taken by your device, or saved to it, from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device, email the photos from the device to yourself. Then download the photos from the emails to your computer.

  • Managing photos on the iPad

I can't get the hang of managing photos on the iPad. I have 2,000 photos and the only choice I see is to delete all of them or keep them? What is the best way of managing the photos?

I can tell you what I've done that works well for me.  On my iMac, I created a set of folders that contain various photos.  The folders on the iMac have descriptive names like "Cats", "Florida 2010", "Air Show" etc.  In iTunes, I use the Photo pane to sync those folders with the iPad.  On the iPad, the photos are all organized by the above folder names and are easy to show.
Using the folders works better for me than syncing with Aperture or iPhoto directly.  Using folders allows me to choose which photos I want to include, and doesn't risk any damage or deletion of photos in Aperture/iPhoto.
I've also started using iCloud and Photostream.  It has many limitations, but is a good way to get photos on your iPad quickly (but not in any real organized fashion).
