Help with Playback in Source Monitor

when I import footage of a specific interview into PP, at 2;45 the audio suddenly jumps back to the begining of the clip while the video continues to playback as usual. The original file is fine, there is no problem playing it in any other program, and this only happens with this one clip, no others are affected. I've removed this clip and re-imported it, up-dated PP, and re-booted my computer all to no avail. Any suggestions? This is quite frustrating.... I've lost some of my previous work, and would just like to be able to have useable interview footage...
Thanks for you help,
Ben

Here's a few details:
Premier Pro CS6 with 6.0.1 update (updated again as soon as problem noticed)
Using Windows 7
Using G-spot the video codec is "avc1" and under the "Name" category it said "H.264"
The Audio codec is  mp4a: MPEG-4 AAC LC
the file type is MPEG saved as a ".MOV"
Note that I'm using a lot of other footage shot from the same camera in the same codec in this project (and in several other projects) and have not encountered this issue. I've read all those posts and get the idea of what a codec is, but I'm no expert. Let me know if this information is sufficent or if there's more I can provide.
No Error messages, just editing as usual, and I noticed the problem with the audio when I tried to use footage after a particular point
Not running any other software at the time I first noticed the problem. Did go back and check the auto saved files and noticed that the footage was doing the same thing there as well.
Haven't installed any third party effects or codec's
As far as hardware is concerned I'm using a pretty basic PC setup. It's a laptop with an i7-3720QM 2.6GHz processor (quad core), 16 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GT 650M GPU with 2 GB VRAM
I am using Mercury Playback Engine with GPU Acceleration
The problem is that when doing anything with the video in PP at the same spot everytime the audio begins to play from the start (At 2:45 the audio begins to play from the start while the video continues to play as usual). this gives me audio that's 2:45 behind the clip. This occurs both in the source monitor and when I insert the clip into the time-line.
Not sure what a screen shot would reveal, everything looks just fine. No red lines when I first import, everything plays back in real time, the audio is simply off. This problem doesn't occur when playing back with any other program (I've tried windows media player, and just for fun played it back with Adobe Bridge and there was no problem with playback in either program.) This problem occurs both in the project I first noticed the problem in and when I import the footage into a new project.
Hopefully some of the info helps...
Has this happened to anyone else?

  • Need help with a Asus 27" monitor with webcam problem.

Need help with a Asus 27" monitor I bought.  Model VK278Q.  The issue is that the webcam will not work properly.  Various applications can see the webcam, but I just get a black box.  From what I have read, the issue seems to be that there are no official drivers for the webcam.
I thought someone in this community might be able to offer some help before I return the monitor. I read somewhere that it may be possible to tweat the OS so that the iSight software will work for the monitor webcam.
    Thx

Eureka! You now understand the situation.
Even the old standard for Mac OS X drivers for non-compatible cams, macam, says that it has no driver for ASUS (20") monitor camera.
    The macam status shows:
    not working (no documentation)
With no working driver for the 20" ASUS, it is not surprising that there is none for the 27" either.  There may be good reason that ASUS won't (or can't) offer either the technical documentation or a Mac driver for their monitor's inbuilt webcam.  However, they apparently do not publish that information.
If ASUS Technical Support cannot provide the driver you need for OS X, the ASUS will continue to be a ridonculous (sic) monitor whose webcam will not work with your OS X Mac.  The only other simple fix I can think of is to use the ASUS with a different PC that is compatible with this monitor and its inbuilt webcam.  What you do is certainly your choice.

  • Problems with audio playback in source monitor

I recently updated to Yosemite, so this may be a update issue, but anytime I open up an audio file in the source monitor and try to play it, I get the pinwheel and a big delay.  After the delay it does begin to play, but I still have the pinwheel and have to force quit.  I'm on a new Mac Pro as well running the latest CC2014.  Anyone else have this issue?

Hi there, i had the same problem when i did a clean install of windows 7 and re-installed Premiere Pro, where i had the same problem you speak of. I uninstalled and re-installed it and it works fine now. Something to do with either the version 4.2 or the third party material. I would suggest going back to version 4.0 and that should solve your problems

  • CFRT Playback Error... No Playback in Source Monitor from Project Pannel

    Hello Everyone,
CC 2014.1 may have a slight bug for some of you on a Windows 7 System during your update from CC 2014 to CC 2014.1
Not being able to playback any type of footage by Double Clicking in the Project Panel and reveling it in the Source Monitor.
If you look closely in the Bottom Right Corner of the Application you will see an ERROR Box, revealing that there is an
    CFRTPlayback Error Occurred.
Its not an Adobe issue per say however, a GoPro Studio issue...
Uninstall GoPro Studio, and then Download the Latest, which may be the same and then RE-INSTALL it...
It has fixed my issue with playing back footage in the Source Monitor...
I had no Problem selecting items from a Sequence by double clicking however, when I chose something from the Project Panel it would
just be blank and not play at all... Audio would show a Wave Form... But no Playback...
I was one of those early adopters of buying a Canon 5D Mark II and had to purchase Cineform - Neo Scene in order to Transcode
all of my footage in order to play it back in CS 5.5
I still transcode with it from time to time on big projects,... however with the adoption of the GoPro Cineform Codec within Media
Encoder I may not have to anymore... It would be much easier in AME...
I do hope this helps someone,... I searched the web for quite a bit of time and could find an issue... Glad to pay it forward.

  • Jerky playback in Source Monitor (vs. Windows Media Player) ...

I am a new user of CS5.5.   I've read the FAQ and other posts and understand that my machine is underpowered.
That said, why do my HD clips play smoothly with Windows Media Player or Quicktime, but play jerky in the PP Source Monitor?  What is it about PP's source monitor player that causes clips to choke when they can play back smoothly on the same computer using other software?   Are there any other workarounds other than a faster machine I can do in the meantime until I upgrade my hardware?
For example, I see the "render entire work area" option under the Sequence menu as noted above - is there any way to do something similar to get PP to (pre) render the clips in the Project Panel for follow up editing in the Source Monitor window?
What about batch encoding to an uncompressed format and then editing the resultant clips?  I would be concerned about loss of quality here though.  Being new to PP, not even sure this question makes any sense in the first place.
    Thanks!

Good news for you...its not designed that way and a great playback experience is possible.
Bad news is...you have to work out why you are not getting it!
(It has nothing to do with Quadro Cards because plenty of users with other cards have no issue either.)
Well, I'm just going by what I've seen in the past few years. When Premiere CS4 came out I had an Intel Quad Core 2.66 Ghz, 8 GB of RAM, Intel motherboard and an Nvidia 7950GT card. Playback was fine in Vegas, skipped frames in Premiere. Then on my current machine, an AMD 1090T 6 cores @3.2 Ghz, G.Skill 16 GB of RAM, a top of the line Gigabyte motherboard, and at first an ATI Radeon 4850HD, same thing, Vegas played fine, Edius much better (but nothing beats Edius in speed), and Premiere CS5 stuttered like crazy. Now, same machine but with an eVGA GTX570 instead of the ATI, Windows 7 x64, fresh install just one day old. Premiere CS6 does the same thing. If it's my machine, I have no idea what could it be, but the fact that it did the same on two different cards on this machine, and that Premiere CS4 used to do the same in a totally different machine, plus the fact that two other NLEs didn't have that issue, tells me Premiere has a problem at displaying video inside the GUI.
Maybe it could be that most people don't see stutter because they leave the playback quality in automatic? I'm sure I don't have any stutter if I do that, but it looks terrible. Some frames look fine, others look like the pixels got drunk and had a night out with crack whores Well, maybe that's an exaggeration, but you get the point.
If anyone has a suggestion I'd be happy to try it. It's not a terrible issue for me, I always edit with the TV set on and that is fed by the Matrox MXO2 Mini with perfect quality.

  • MXF file plays with audio on Source Monitor but timeline imports only the video

    Hello,
This started happening like a few hours ago. But it was working perfectly before! This is driving me insane!
This is the situation (Premiere CC, updated to latest version):
    - I have a bunch of MXF files and if I play them on the Source Monitor, audio and video play perfectly.
    - The moment I drag the MXF file onto the timeline, only the video is imported, not the audio.
    - I tried to drag only the audio, using the different ways that Premiere provides but it won't come at all.
I managed to import audio and video doing the following: close all sequences, and drag the MXF file in the timeline with no sequence opened thus it will create a sequence with the imported audio and video from the MXF file.
BUT if I try to drop the SAME MXF file in this brand new sequence, only the video will come again.
Does anyone have an idea of what is going on? And why it suddenly stopped working?
    Thank you!

  • Video playback in source monitor low res, fuzzy

    Hello-
I encoded a slide show ( in PP CS4) using high res pics, the .avi output ( from Media Encoder CS4) looks good. When I use this as a clip in a new PP project, ( after choosing the editing mode with the correct PAR), the video playback in the source monitor has a distinct loss of resolution. I have verified that the video is pretty sharp in an external player, so I'm mystified why it looks fuzzy in PP. I have two different CSes, one is 4 and one is 5, if that could make a difference( production premium & elearning suite ). To date I have been forced to let another department encode final version with an Avid product. Very humiliating.

I believe I accepted default settings in Media Encoder, Format: Microsoft AVI, Preset: NTSC DV, "Export Video "checked, Video codec DV NTSC, Quality 100
    Type: AVI movie
    Image Size: 720X480

  • Set default audio track for playback in Source monitor

So I'm an editor that is somewhat new to the profession and I am working on a project right now with close to 100 video clips in my project. Most of the clips have their audio recorded to track 2 but when I load the clips into the source window to find the footage asked for in my script there is no audio playback.
They play fine in the program monitor once placed in a timeline, because I have all the audio tracks are turned on until I do my mastering at the end of the project. To get audio playback in the source monitor I have to change the view option to audio waveform which shows a blank screen because there is no audio on track. I then go to the drop-down menu just below the video display and select track 2 at which point the audio waveform shows up and plays back fine. This isn't too arduous a process and isn't a great burden but it slows my workflow down considerably as I have to repeat the process for each new clip I load into the source monitor.
My question then is if there is anywhere in Premiere that I can set which audio track is the default audio playback track for clips loaded in the source monitor. I work on a lot of similar projects like this for the same client and they don't have the most rigorous standards for their shooters. This problem has come up before and will most assuredly arise again in the future so any tips/advice on how to fix this on my end would be much appreciated.
    Thanks!

I'm not really sure.I don't do any shooting for the client and in fact don't have any contact with the shooters, we just do the post. They use a number of different freelance videographers all of whom have different equipment and procedures when it comes to formatting, orginization, etc.

  • Need some help with a Business Process monitor PPO Collector

We have one particular monitor that won't return any value, consistently gray.
Monitoring scenario is Shopping Cart/PPO process - we have cases where Shopping carts fail to create purchase orders in our ECC system.
We can see the errors, and have created a monitor with a threshold of '1" just to try to trigger the alert.
Process being monitored is PURORD006, monitor object is boppocol
Configuration is generated and activated, there are no errors in SLG1.  Monitor runs every 5 minutes.  There are no config errors showing anywhere, and there are no authorization errors for any users.
There are a few red extractors, but they're all workload/e2e related, not BPMON.  Agents are green.
Solman is 7.1 Sp12, newly upgraded, all Managed system config/techmon/bpm config clean and green .  This also did not work in our previous SP10 incarnation.
Does not matter which ECC system we configure for this, they all act the same way, no metric.  Like there's something fundamentally incorrect with our setup or we aren't understanding how this particular monitor works.  We have other BPM monitors that work just fine, so it's not a complete config failure, just this one particular one.
    ECC system has st-pi  2008-1-700 10
    st-a/pi is 01R_700
System is not allowing me to embed screenshots..  grr.....  attached screen shots.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks.

First of all, if you have IT resources inhouse (or even external) consider asking them.
Also having a backup of the old db would be my recomandation, also check first if there
is data inside which you might want to export as long as the old tms is up and running.
There are a lot of different permissions settings which could grant you access to everything, but
stop you from dropping / deleting the old db.
You can drop a database in different ways, gui, command line,...
This is more a Microsoft SQL than a TMS question.
For more info I would recomend to check the Microsoft sites (and forums) or google.

  • Xorg - help with rotation on dual monitor setup

i have two monitors that im trying to get rotated properly but im having some trouble. i think its easiest to list out what i have going on here...
    1. im using a BFG nvidia geforce 7600 with the nvidia driver, and everything on the system is up to date
    2. everything works fine when i just put the monitors in their normal 1280x1024 side by side
    3. when i put Option "Rotate" "CCW" in the device section (as seen in the config below), i get my left monitor rotated nicely and my right monitor is rotated as well but it is setup as if it is below my left monitor.
    4. when i take out the setting from #3 and use Option "RandRRotation" "true" im started into normal side-by-side like in #2, then using xrandr -o left will get me the same result as #3 with right monitor below left.
    5. <a href="http://briancurtin.com/linux/Xorg.0.log">here is my Xorg.0.log</a> and <a href="http://briancurtin.com/linux/xorg.conf">here is my xorg.conf</a>.
ideally i'd like to use the setup in #3 but have the monitors be side-by-side in orientation, so that i can move the mouse off of the right edge of left monitor into the right monitor, rather than having to go to the bottom edge and having it magically appear on the right monitor. if thats confusing i can draw it up.
is this possible? any help would be greatly appreciated

im kind of thinking now that i cant do this
the desktop is seen as just one big desktop stretched across two monitors...so when you rotate/xrandr it, its going to do the same and assume you stack your two monitors on top of each other.
i think im right, but can anyone confirm that?

  • Help with Resolution on External Monitor

I want to set my HP Envy 15t to drive an external monitor, not as an extension, but rather as my primary monitor.  My external monitor is a Viewsonic VX2250, a little older, and requires that I use a HDMI-to-VGA adapter.  (The Viewsonic also has DVI inputs...not sure it that would make a difference.)  On my current tower setup, I use the monitor in its recommended (or native mode) setting of 1920x1080.  I like this screen a lot.
The adapter is a Bytecc HM-VGA005 and the specs seem to suggest that it can handle a variety of video resolutions - Full HD (1080p), WUXGA (1920x1200 RB mode), and UXGA (1600x1200 VESA mode).
The 15t currently runs in the recommended resolution of 1366x768.  If I understand the specs right, in HD mode it's 1366x768 and in FHD mode it's 1920x1080.   The graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 4600.  Is this the reason that I can only get HD resolution and not FHD resolution on the laptop?
But whenever I plug all this together and try and change the laptop screen resolution settings, the external monitor only shows 1024x768...pretty lousy.  I have it so that the laptop screen is dark and only the external monitor is on.  But there doesn't seem to be any choices I can make to improve this resolution.  I've checked to see that the graphics driver is up to date and it is.
What do I do to get the best screen I can on the external monitor?  Would buying a new monitor with HDMI inputs achieve better results?  Do I need a different adapter?
    Thanks...Kurt
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Me again!  Well, it was a bit of the nut behind the wheel.    I checked in with the store that I've been buying my cables, adapters, etc.  He said to bring the Viewsonic monitor by to see what might be going on.  As I was setting up, he asked about power to the adapter.  I had the USB cable but didn't think it was needed.  But after putting everything together in addition to power to the HDMI-VGA adapter, I could see I was getting the resolution that I was hoping for.  Why it worked on the Dell monitor, no clue...maybe a better monitor or different VGA cable.  The Bytecc adpater didn't come with any instructions, so I just didn't know.
All is well.  Hope this helps someone in the future.

  • Cannot hear audio for subclips playback in source monitor

    Hi,
My editor has merged a bunch of video and multichannel audio on his computer and created merged clips and sub clips for me to look at. Now it's my turn to make selects from the merged subclips, but when I open the project on my computer the subclips don't play back with sound (however, the regular full merged clips play just fine). There clearly is audio attached to the subclips (i can see the waveforms) and the correct audio channels are turned on, but the no sound is played. However, when I drag these subclips into the timeline, the audio channels are all turned off -- I can turn the relevant channels on and then the audio plays in program monitor from the timeline!
Since my editor didn't have this problem on his computer, I assume it has something to do with the settings on my premiere pro.
    Does anyone have any ideas?
    thanks

I'm not sure if it would account for the exact problem you're encountering, but there is a known issue with subclips saved from merged clips. It involves the Media Start and End timecodes being improperly calculated. Even if this bug does not account for the particular issue you're reporting, I recommend not using subclips from merged clips for the time being. Two workarounds:
Rather than saving subclips from your merged clips, insert each segment into a sequence for review.
If you really want separated clips in the Project panel, make duplicates of the original merged clip and then set in/out points in each
If the bug records are correct, this issue was introduced in CC7.2, so another option is to roll back to 7.1. In that light, I'm curious whether you and your editor are on the same version.
