Help with Pre Plus turning off and not restarting

I've had my Pre Plus since 2010 without issues until I went to Arizona in April.  It turned off by itself and it's never been the same since.  I think I've got the cause narrowed down to either overheating and/or prolonged phone/web use.  It's warmer now in Portland and the phone turns off more frequently.  It's happened every day since April. 
The frustrating part is that it won't restart until it cools off.  So, if I'm at home, I put it in the freezer to get it restarted faster.
Sometimes, I get the palm/rom message but going through that process hasn't helped. 
Also, this happens with the original battery and the extended battery. 
Does anyone have a fix or recommendation for this?  Thanks!

Two things to try; most likely you phone actually has an issue and you need to set up at appointment at your nearest apple store ot have it fixed (apple.com/retail) pick whatever store is closest.
However; windows computers often "attack" ipods or iphones thinking they are a virus. You may want to turn off your virus protection and plug the phone in again and try restoring it without any virus stuff on.
However, it sounds as long it's not a software issue but a hardware one and restore won't fix that.

    Hello lafan and welcome to the forums,
    I'm sorry your having this issue.  You could try holding the power button down and switching the ringer switch back and forth 3 times.
    If this doesn't work, you could also try pulling the battery and re-seting it to see if the device powers back up. 
    If this does not work, I would suggest replacing the battery, possibly the device.

    I have bought iphone 4s on July 12, 2012.in Zurich in offical Apple store (Glattzentrum) and after one and a half months it just turned off and not working since. I tried three charges and nothing (it detects that charger is on but it cannot be charged). So now I have a not working phone only two and something months after purchase. But the problem is that in Croatia we have two apple reseller stores and neither don't want to exchange it, although is under warranty!!!! The closest stores are 250 km from Zagreb...Of course I have contacted Apple store in Zurich but they told me to come in Switzerland or to send credit card data for receiving new iphone, the problem is I don't have credit card with 700 euro on it!!!! what to do?? who to call ??? where to get replacment device cause this is disaster???? I wanted to buy ipad but after all this I doubt to do so...I have not working Iphone payed around 700 chf or 800 usd and cannot change it in my country, is it possible for such vast organization like apple that this things can occur?????     my N8 turned off and not turning back on
    phone's battery was fully charged, earlier today it turned off while i was in the middle of a call. pressed the power button and it turned on normally.
    a while ago i took it out of my jacket's pocket to find it off. tried the 8 second power push, no use.
    also tried the 3 button reset... no use either.
    an ideas on how to solve it before i send it to nokia care?
    they take a week or probably more to have it fixed !!!

    tried pressing the power button, then holding it for 8 seconds and more
    still nothing
    used the hard reset... still nothing. no vibration and screen remains black, nothing at all.
    i plug in the charger, still nothing
    i use the USB port, light on the side doesn't light up either.
    do I have a totally DEAD phone?
    when going to Nokia, should i have it fixed or not settle for anything except for a brand new phone ?
    note: phone is less than a month old and in a totally mint condition

    every once in a while my ipod touch turns off and wont turn back on for a day or two. So why does it do this, it is from over use of the ipod?

    Try the following fixes in order:
    - Reset:
    Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
    button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore the iPod from backup via iTunes
    - Restore the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod
    If yo still have the problem you likely have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    Assuming it's charged, try resetting it: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), and release.  If that doesn't work you may have to put it in recovery mode and restore it as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.

  • Z87 msi mpower big problem help me please auto turn off and never boot

    i had bought msi z87 mpower from amazon 2 weeks ago while trying to open it, it just turn on and leds light up but no beep/ no display= no signal , i tried to take it out of case the same problem tried it with 1 stick of ram g-skill 1600 mhz 4g same problem i removed the vga card same problem i removed the ram , the motherboard didn't recognize it and power on led on but no beep nothing debug led all the time 00 , with cpu i5 4690k only some people told me , mobo didn't recognize the cpu because it's haswell refresh need update for bios , but how when i can't see any screen and it can't even boot just fan spin and leds light up nothing else , i sent it to some msi technical support in egypt to try to make bios for it , he told me he could bot it and update it from windows normally without any problem and he sent it back to me , while i took it to try at my home with my cpu the same problem motherboard didn't recognize my cpu , i had connected everything and as well wifi card with the pin and the 4 kits of 16 giga ram trying to power on same problem i did 1 restart and the motherboard never turns on again like dead
    i get it out the case and removed everything except wifi card same problem no power i just removed the wifi card it turns on for 1 second the turn off automatically i connect it again, and mobo don't turn on again i just release this pin of wifi card out of mobo the leds turn on like if the pin of wifi card shorting the motherboard i don't know why i removed it at all and try to turn on the motherboard light up and fans works for 1 sec then turn off automatically like the motherboard shut down it self for safety i try to connect the vga card only with 1 ram and cpu but the motherboard don't turn on at all , so motherboard only turn on now with 1 ram and cpu just turn on for 1 sec and then off if i connect anything more it will not turn on at all same problem with other power supply i sent it back to technical shop they said it's just bios corrupted and nothing bad but they told me they can't make it because bios files on msi site doesn't work for some reason and they want to give me it back like that turn on/ off immediately what could i do , did they make something bad when i sent it to them at start because it was turn on normally and when i try it just 1 restart and full fail to power after that and they admit , they had work through it to windows and make normal bios update so what would be the issue , i feel like if wifi card made some short to the motherboard with it's pin or the bios failed ot recognize wifi card and failed after 1 restart i don't know where to start or what to do psu good cpu good ram is good tested what could make some motherboard no turn on , as well i have removed the battery for 5 minutes and try with it and i made clear cmos button still same and they said they didn't touch motherboard while making bios

    Bad CPU? bad Motherboard? Other stuff.
    The only way to know is testing parts.
    You said it already worked with another CPU. Did you check CPU socket pins?

  • How do I tell Apple to fix their software like apps that play sound even though the sound is turned off and not being able to disable features you hate like game center

    Apple is suppose to be the pinnacle of usability and, yet, I want to throw my new IPhone 4s as far as I can and watch is smash into a million pieces on concrete. Seriously, I've already got three things that irritate the **** out of me. First, there are Apple apps that insist on playing sound even though the sound is turned off. If I flick a switch to turn the sound off, I want the sound off!!!! Second, if I do not want a totally unnecessary feature like Game Center, I should be able to disable it. I completed most of the Angry Bird levels with 2 or 3 stars and now I have to start over from square one. Maybe, this happened when I upgraded to the 4s but it sure seemed to happen when I joined Game Center. Tomorrow, I am going to reset my 4s to factory defaults to try to get rid of my Game Center account. I don't want Game Center! I do need Game Center! I hate Game Center! Finally, I had an alarm go off to wake me up and there was a Snooze button but no button to turn the alarm off. I flicked the slider to access the main screen expecting to see something to turn the alarm off but there was nothing. The alarm just kept alarming. I had to warm boot my IPhone to shut the alarm off! Really, Apple!!!!

    The sound is turned off. Only, some Apple apps like YouTube and Siri make sound when the sound is turned off. It is very embarrassing when this happens at work. My question was how do I tell Apple to fix this?
    Turning off game center does not work. The games just prompt me to sign in when they are started.I have tried everything I can find online to stop this behavior. It is annoying and should not happen. My question was how do I tell Apple to fix this?
    The alarm went off. There was a green thing that looked like a button but pressing it did nothing. There was a red button that said snooze. I did not want to snooze. I wanted to turn the alarm off. I slid the bar to unlock the phone and there were no running apps with a button to press. The alarm just keep running. I have not had this problem since it first occurred. The alarm now shuts off when I just unlock the phone. It may have happened because I had another alarm app running. The two may have interfered with each other. I would like to tell Apple about it.
    It also annoys me that the button that closes apps leaves the phone app running. If I press on a number at 6:00 AM to get information about who called me, the phone automatically dials the person back and my natural reaction is to press on the button to close the phone app but the phone keeps dialing this person at 6:00 AM. It is a bad design. I would like to tell Apple about it.
    Finally, I looked all over Apple's site to try to find someplace I could send them a polite message to let them know that I was not happy with these "features" but could not find anything. It is extremely frustrating to have issues with a product and not being able to tell the manufacturer about it. So, you grow up!.
    When trying to fix the Game Center issue, I saw a link someone posted to report issues with the IPad to Apple. The answer I am looking for is where is the link to report issues with the IPhone.

    Not true, most problems are with software, then with the earphone jack I quote from a letter that I recieved from a service manager that I worked with several years ago who wrote me two weeks ago and I am quoting. "Although the percentage is small it seems that if I had to put it into words I would say that software glitches seem to be the number one problem with the earphone jack a close second. Although both are not a major percentage. All in all it is a great product." Not mad,and sure that Apple will be far better off with your advice. Maybe they will move up from the number one maker of the number one mp3 player in the world and make some serious money with it now that they have it.     Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You can only locate your device when it is logged into iCloud and 'Find My Phone' is enabled, additionally the device will need to be switched on and connected to a wifi or cellular network.
    Unfortunately, you cannot activate iCloud or 'Find My Phone' remotely.
    If the device is wiped by you or another, you may not be able to locate the device (although some have reported they can)
