Help with Preloaded nano

My father received a nano as a present, loaded with songs. He receieved a new mac also, but has the following questions.
1. Supposedly the nano is registered to someone else (the giver). How can he reregister this?
2. Can he get the music on the nano onto the mac so that if he needs to erase the nano, he won't lose the music?

I recently had the same problem, my computer had to be rebooted so essentially i had a new computer with the same problem as you. Dont worry about plugging into the computer it wont automatically update without asking you. you have a few options
1. Apple allows you to transfer itunes from one itunes to another only if the songs are from c.d's or bought from the itunes store. To do this, go to the website and search for "itunes transfer to new computer" or something. However if the music was gotten another way (downloaded illegally or elsewhere), do steps 2 or 3.
2. If the songs on the ipod came from c.ds, just load up the music from the c.d's on to your new, different itunes. After that is done, plug the ipod into the computer and all the music should be the same on both the computer and ipod. Then it will say something like , "your ipod is registered to another itunes, do you want itunes to update your ipod to this itunes?" Say yes and then you can re-register it. All the music will still be there.
3. Just put all the music from the other itunes onto c.d's by burning it, then do step 2.
4. There is no way to just put the songs from the ipod on a new itunes, these are the only options i came up with. With me, I allowed my ipod to be wiped out, and will replace the music with my cds and then download the rest.

Help with preloader

i have a created a simple preloader w/ a simple progress bar
for my main swf. i'm using flash 8 and have attached the action
script code that i used for it. when i test it online, as the the
progress bar loads midway, the contents of my main swf also starts.
my understanding is that the once the preloader reaches 100%, that
is when the main swf starts. the second problem is once the main
swf loads completely, everything works (buttons, links) except the
popup menu that i have. when i rollover one of my buttons that
reveal a popup menu w/ buttons, none of the buttons work. i click
them and nothing happens. what am i doing wrong? does the fact that
my main swf has 116 frames and my preloader swf has only 100 have
anything to do with it?
i would totally appreciate some help as i am fairly new to
flash, especially action script. thank you :)

The only job that the preload functions control is the
display of your
progress bar. The loadClip() function starts the loading of
the new
clip. Your listener pays attention to the progress of the
loading, and
fires the appropriate functions to control the progress bar's
display.
When you load in the new clip, it will do whatever you told
it to do.
The work of myListener is completely superfluous. You could
remove all
of the myListener functions and the new clip will load
exactly the same way.
You'll need to look at the movieClip that you're loading in
to see where
the problems might be.

Please! Please help with iPod Nano...

Hi. I bought my husband a 2GB iPod Nano in April, and last week, he went to install the new updates on it and it literally crashed the entire iPod. He lost all of his songs, all of his photos and now iTunes won't recognize it.
I have went through all of the Apple support documents trying to find a reason why this would happen and I can't seem to find the answer i'm looking for. I've reinstalled iTunes numerous times, i've uninstalled everything for the iPod off of my computer and tried reinstalling the disc for the iPod to start from scratch, i've tried installing the programs on my mother-in-laws computer, (an iPod has never seen her computer before, ever!), and that didn't seem to help either.
The problem that we seem to be running into is that we are trying to load up the Updater and it starts to hang. It keeps telling us that it is initiallizing, and it doesn't seem to get past that. Every once and awhile we will get an error saying that the iPod is 'not connected to the computer' or that the iPod is 'being used by another program, close out of all programs being used by the iPod and try again'. What is going on with it?
I was hoping that if I restored the iPod to the factory settings that I would eventually be able to add the new updates onto it again.
I was thinking that it installed the wrong updates onto it because I update my 30GB iPod Photo on the same computer, but I was reading that the Updater recognizes what iPod is connected to the computer and updates the correct software onto it.
Does anybody know how I can fix this? The support forum is my last resort. I talked to Apple and this is where they sent me, even though he still has warrenty on it.

hmmmm. it sounds like some other application is checking on the ipod (possibly security software), and that is interfering with the update/restore attempts.
try using the techniques from the following document to switch off every background application prior to plugging the ipod into the updater:

i have a 2gb ipod nano and ive had it since about february. just like 2 months after i got it , the itunes just wouldnt open up. i deleted itunes and redownloaded it . then. it opened again but it doesnt connect with my ipod it has a popup and it says "the software required for communicating with the iPod is not installed correctly please reinstall itunes to install the ipods software" i have reinstalled it about 5 times. i went to the apple store and they updated my ipod and told me to reinstall itunes and also to install the ipod updater. i did but nothing worked..
please help!!!!!!!

Can someone help with new nano? song duration turned to dots??

i pressed something by mistake yesterday and now where the song duration/time usually is at the bottom there is just 5/6 dots?? can someone please help ?

Press the center button.
This will switch between volume, scrubber (position in song), rating, lyrics and artwork.
The 5 dots screen is a rating scale. Select this screen, roll the wheel to select 0-5 and press the center button to rate the song.
There is a problem sometimes with this though.
Don't press the button too quickly.

I need help with my nano p

I have a ZEN nano plus GB I have used it meavy 0 times last year this week I started working out again and for some reason it is not turning on. I did the software upgrade and it didn't work. any help will be appreciated.

Make sure you're using a fresh battery and try the firmware update again (use recovery mode per the instructions on Creative's support website, also let the update application format the data area). If the update fails try different USB ports and/or a different computer. If it still doesn't turn on after a successful update, it's probably dead and you should try to get it replaced if it's still covered by warranty.
Oh, and you're keeping the power/play button pressed for a few (2-3?) seconds, right?Message Edited by dingens on 03-07-20070:6 PM

I need help with iPOD Nano

Maybe someone out there can help me. I just updated my iTunes on my MAC to 7.0. After that my iPOD Nano displays a message:
"FIREWIRE CONNECTIONS ARE NOT SUPPORTED. TO TRANSFER SONGS USE THE USB CABLE PROVIDED. PRESS CENTER TO DISMISS."
After I press the center button, the message reappears. I can't seem to get rid of this message. And I don't use a firewire I only use the USB Cable.
I've tried the "5R's" recommended and that hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

MY IPOD STOPS PLAYING SPONTANEOUSLY. IT IS FULLY CHARGED. I HAVE RESTORED IT ON THE APPLE WEBSITE. WHAT DO I DO TO FIX IT?

Your problem is that your iPod is not sensing that your headset is inserted. There is a pin inside the headphone port on the Nano that senses if it is inserted fully. If it does not sense anything, it will pause playback to save battery power when the screen dims. Here are the solutions:
Insert it fully. This will fix it for most of you. Press that thing in there all the way. You should feel and hear a full click when it is fully seated. If you can see ANY silver of the headset jack, it is not fully inserted.
Debris inside the headset port. If you are totally unable to push the headset jack all the way, the most likely problem is that you have crud inside your headphone jack. Try blowing it out or slapping it against your palm with the headset port facing your palm to try and get the stuff out. If you look into he jack with a light, you should be able to see to the bottom. The entire inside of the headset port is white, so if it looks dark at the bottom, that is the crud that is keeping your nano from working.
Headset jack or plug issue. If you cannot solve the problem with 1 or 2, then there is likely something physically wrong with either the headset jack on your headphones or the headset port on the nano.
If none of the above works, you need to take it to the Apple store or wherever you purchased it. I think they are still under warranty.

Help With Freezing Nano

Ok, so my iPod works fine when it is connected to the computer, but it dies as soon as I disconnect it. The screen slices diagonally and freezes, and the picture slowly fades away.
My computer says its fully charged, and I've tried resetting it and putting it into Disk mode, but still no luck. And it has been charging for quite a while now. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!!!
Oh, and when I re-plug it into the computer, I have to re-select the language, as if it totally resets. It does this even when I dont reset it. By the way, I only reset it when its plugged into the computer, because it doesnt work at all when it isnt plugged in.
Its about 4 days old.

Need help with preloader for photo gallery

I'm building a photo gallery which loads jpg photos inside a
loader component by using MovieClipLoader.
Everything works just great but my only problem is that I
can't scale the content (the jpg's) to the size of the loader
component.
I tryed everything but the photos are loading bigger then the
loader, and I wnat to have the photos bigger then the loader so
that I could have good quality on any resolution. Here's the

first of all, you can't directly resize the bitmaps, you have to resize the movieclip above it. so if needed, create an empty movieclip inside another wrapper movie clip and resize the wrapper.
then i noticed you don't have onLoadInit in your listener
this method:
myLIstener.onLoadInit=function(mc:MovieClip){
will execute commands after the content is loaded. so you will have to resize your content after it's been loaded. you can't just resize something that you loaded above in your code, you have to wait until it's fully loaded
anyways since you siad you are beginner i will list some useful tip for this job (i don't know if you already know them):
this -refers to current movie clip
this._parent -refers to parent movie cilp
width and height of movie clips are controlled by _width and _height properties, not width height

Need serious help with Ipod nano and WinXP

A few days ago my fiancee was moving songs to her Ipod when it automatically tossed all of my songs onto her Ipod so she deleted them from Itunes and tried to continue. Something happened and she got a message that her Ipod "could not be read from or written to" so I hooked mine up to see if it was a hardware problem and all of my music was also deleted and now I get the same message. We have uninstalled the software, reinstalled the original CD, updated to v.6 and still get the same message. Also, when we try to uninstall the updated Ipod software we get an error message 0x80040707 access denied.
We can see the Ipods when we open Itunes, but can't move any songs to our Ipods. Also gives an error msg about not being able to copy music because of missing playlists...I never had any playlists. These things are only 6 months old and I can't afford to pay $60 for phone tech support. If anyone has the answer plz respond or email me at [email protected]

I need serious help with my nano!!

So I was running the lastest iPod updater tool from Apple and I hit restore. The line went all the way then it said factory settings have been restored, although both the restore and update buttons were blacked out in the updater tool. The iPod never restarted like its supposed to when you restore it, it just kept on blinking do not disconnect. So I held down menu and the center button to manually restart it. It restarted in black and while blinking do not disconnect. The iPod updater program froze. I went to my computer and it said something like "Removable device" instead of "Andrew's iPod" and I clicked on it and it said it had to be formated. I hit no and then clicked "safely disconnect" and safely disconnected the iPod. I unplugged it and it showed a check mark saying "ok to disconnect". So then I disconnected to cable and it showed some battery ion then shut off. That makes no sense because it had been sharging for hours prior to this. Now when I plug it in it doesn't do anything. Nothing shows up on the iPod and I hit every button and nothing happens. The computer doesn't recognize anything. I need some help big time.

When my IPod is playing a song it used to have the status bar on the bottom of the screen showing how long the song was and the volume. I noticed today that there are 5 little circles in place of the status bar. Please help.

Press the center buttom until the bar appears again. It was showing the favorite rate.

Hi,
I need help with my ipod nano.
I haven't turned it on in a while and suddenly it stops working when I try to turn it on again.
Sometimes it displays:

And right now it's displaying "OK to disconnect".

I have my IPOD nano for a while now and about a week ago. My husband bought one for his newphew and he had me download all the songs into the new IPOD (2nd Generation). Now Im having problems with mine. Everytime I try to charge and usually the screen will pop up to my original music player. This is what it says now when I open or charge my IPOD.
"The File iTunes Library.it! cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes".
Now, that I listen to it...all the music skip. Please help me..what should I do??
