Help with PreSonus AudioBox USB?

Hi there!
I am a very new MacBoo Pro user (Got my first Mac this week). I originally purchased this computer because, a, it has been the computer that I have wanted forever, and b, I want to do music editing and processing.
I recently purchased the Rode NT1-A Mic,along with studio headphones and sound panels of course, and the PreSonus AudioBox USB Limited Edition. I have been researching extensively about these products and have run into a major issue. Always a flip-side, right?!
So whats going on is that this device (its connected via USB) is not being recognized by my mac. I am up to date on all of my software updates for the computer. It came with a software by PreSonus ("Studio One 2 Artist Music creation and Production System") which due to the Mac not having a disk drive, and due to my research online, it is not necessary to use that software, and I can just plug the AudioBox into my computer, select the audio output, and get started with Garage Band/Logic Pro X. When I go into my system preferances and select sound and search for the audio device, and nothing comes up. My mac is not seeing/recognizing the device. As I said before I have done very extensive research trying to resolve this problem, but I cannot find anything directed towards my situation here.
Thank You so much for any support you can give me regarding this issue.

  • I recently purchase a PreSonus Audiobox USB to connect to my iMac. It stated that its a class-compliant Core Audio device, no installation of drivers is neccessary on a Mac computer, simply connect it and begin using. However, my iMac isn't recognizing it

I understand Apple is not responsible for hardware from other manufacturer, However, the problem is not with the hardware Audiobox USB because I was able to hook it up to a Windows 8 computer and it worked like it was suppose to. The iMac is not recoginizing the USB for some unknown reason and i don't know if its the  Maverick operating system. If there is someone who can help me resolve this issue please reply.

Try going to Applications > System Preferences > Sound and see if the Audiobox shows up as an option you can pick for input and/or output.
You may also have to check Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI setup and see if it is there as an option to select.
If you are using the Audiobox with an audio app, for example GarageBand or Logic, you may have to check the preferences for the app and select the Audiobox as an input and/or output device
If you have installed software to go along with the Audiobox, try uninstalling it and then rechecking the settings above. I have a USB audio interface (from another manufacturer), and the manufacturer, bless their little pointy heads, can't seem to make a driver that will work. The solution, after trying driver after driver that the manufacturer was emailing me, was to remove them all. And then it worked fine.
On the other hand, there might be an updated driver for Mavericks from the Audiobox people. One that will work. Check their website.

  • Help with AE and USB HD setup

Not even sure where to begin. I guess I'm so frustrated with this whole setup.
I went out and purchased a Airport Extreme 802.11n and a G-Tech 250GB USB 2.0 hard drive with the hope of creating a shared network drive for myself (MBP 15") and my wife Dell laptop (Win XP). I can get the AE setup for both of us to the internet without any problems. The issue is with the USB HD. Supposedly, I should just be able to connect the HD to the AE and have my MBP see it and mount it. A USB HD icon does not show up on my desktop, even when I run Airport Disk Utility. I was on the phone with the Apple Level 1 tech without success. He suggested I contact the Level 2 guys in the AM (thanks ). When I connect the HD directly to my computer, it mounts without any problems. Anybody have any thoughts of what I'm doing wrong? I can only imagine trying to set this for my wife's Windows PC later. Ugh!

The following was taken from the Airport Utility's Help.
Connecting a USB hard disk to your base station
If your base station supports it, you can connect a USB hard disk to the USB port on your base station and computers on your network (both wired and wireless) can connect to it to access, share, and store files and data.
Plug the hard disk into the USB port on the back of the base station. If you connect a USB hub to the base station, you can connect multiple hard disks to it, and access them from the wireless network.
Format the hard disk using your computer. On a Macintosh, format the hard disk using Mac OS Extended. On a Computer using Windows XP, use FAT32. AirPort Utility does not support formatting disks.
Open AirPort Utility, select your base station, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. Enter the base station password if necessary. Click Disks in the toolbar.
You can set access privileges for the hard disk, and give it a workgroup name on the File Sharing pane.
AirPort Utility is located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Mac, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.
Setting up user accounts on your AirPort Base Station
You can set up accounts for users of your wireless network to control how a user shares USB hard disks connected to your base station.
To set up a user account:

    5. Click Add , enter the user name, and then give the user a password.
    6. Choose Read and Write, Read Only, or Not Allowed from the File Sharing Access pop-up menu, depending the access privileges you want to assign for this user.
Sharing a USB hard disk on your network
If your base station supports it, you can connect a USB hard disk to the USB port on your base station and computers on your network (both wired and wireless) can connect to it to access, share, and store files and data.
Plug the hard disk into the USB port on the back of the base station. Open AirPort Utility, select your base station, and then choose Manual Setup from the Base Station menu. Enter the base station password if necessary. Click Disks in the toolbar.
AirPort Utility is located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder on a Mac, and in Start > All Programs > AirPort on a computer using Windows.
    To set up disk sharing:
    1. Click File Sharing.
    2. Choose "With a disk password," or "With base station password" if you want to secure the shared disk with a password, or choose "With accounts" if you want to secure the disk using accounts.
    3. If you choose to use accounts, click Configure Accounts, click the Add button, and then enter a name and password for each user that will access the disk.
    4. Choose "Not allowed," Read only," or "Read and write" to assign guest access to the disk.
    5. Select the "Share disks over Ethernet WAN port" checkbox if you want to provide remote access to the disk over the WAN port.
If you connect a USB hub to the base station, you can connect multiple hard disks to it, and access them from the wireless network.

  • [SOLVED]Presonus Audiobox USB - pops and crackles on sound output

I've tried the suggestions at https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … SB_devices and http://askubuntu.com/a/206233 but it has made no difference at all.
It happens fairly consistently, probably there are a few pops or crackles every 10 seconds or so. I'm using Pulseaudio and Gnome Shell. The unit works fine on any other OS. I also used a Behringer USB card for a while before buying this one, and the Behringer worked fine.
Any one have a suggestion for a fix?
EDIT: For some reason there is an option in Pulseaudio to select "Digital Output (S/PDIF) - Audiobox USB", even though there isn't an SPDIF output on the unit. If you select this the audio continues working through the main outputs, and since I did this the pops and crackles seem to have gone.

I think I figured it out. I found a firmware update for my audio interface (REM - Babyface) and so far so good.
I'll post again if it comes back.
    Thanks.

  • Help with Rode Posdcaster USB Mic

    Hello all--
I'm trying to use audacity to create my first podcasts for a class. I initially tried a no-name lapel mic that plugged into the line in on my Macbook Pro. No dice. When I go to Sound on the control panel, I can't get any of the bars to move, even when I select the mic.
I did a bit of reading and figure that it may be because the mic isn't powered by the audio in. Ok. No problem. I borrowed a brand new Rode Podcaster USB mic to try. Plug it in, got the green light on the mic showing power. Go to Sound and there it is listed. Still, when I select it, I can't get any sound to show up on the bars.
    Ideas? I'm missing something dumb.
I'd figure that the mic wasn't Mac friendly but the instructions have a mac section dealing with 10.4+ installation. Followed 'em to the letter.
Thanks for any and all help!

I tried that, but the mic doesn't show up in Audacity. I don't think that the Mac is getting any input at all. In the sound panel, the Rode mic shows up as installed, but when I select it and talk into it, no movement on the bars. That's what's annoying me--the computer knows it is there, but nothing is coming in. I think my problem is with the mic, not the program.
Just for hoots, I tried it on my G5. Same deal. Mac recognizes the mic is there, but no sound coming in.

  • Need help with PreSonus Firebox, MIDI, and inputs and outputs

Hey everybody, I'm new, and I just recently got Logic Pro 8 and a PreSonus Firebox. I have had no trouble with recording MIDI in Logic, but I have had problems with recording audio devices, like a guitar or a bass.
When I record MIDI, I hear it perfectly through the speakers on the Mac, and it records just fine. But the guitar won't come through. I have tried changing the core audio device to "PreSonus Firebox," in which case I still can't hear the guitar, but it records. Once it's been changed to this device, I can't hear anything else I've recorded either, like the MIDI. Once I've changed it back to "Built in input," I can hear everything, including the recorded guitar.
So the problem is, why can't I make Firebox my input, and my computer the output, so I can play through the Firebox and hear it on the computer?
Here is how everything is laid out: I have a Casio keyboard connected by MIDI through the Firebox, which is connected to my Macbook Pro through FireWire. There is also a guitar plugged into the Firebox. Please help, I'm really excited to start recording!

sorry I'm not getting a few things....
    1) how do I create a midi object?
you create the midi object in the midi inst layer of your environment. at the top left under the menu that says "new" select the very 1st thing in the list, "instrument" (midi instrument)
    2) where do I assign the midi output?
after you create the instrument the perameters box opens on the left. you assign the port and channel there
    5) where are the audio outs?
to what? the roland? doesn't it have audio output?
I've been reading the manual and have tried various
forums.... been trying to get this since last
night.... my brain. I know it's gotta be simple...
not real simple but not real hard either

  • Need help with 24" ACD USB/Speaker/iSight Issue

My 24" Apple Cinema Display is about six months out of warranty.
I've tried both my 15" i5 MBP and my MacBook Air with the same result: The USB ports at the back are dead, I get no sound from the monitor speaker (it still routes sound through the laptop speakers, such as they are) and the iSight appears dead as well.
I've tried restarting the computers and monitor; no result. I have not tried resetting the PRAM, etc., as I would imagine the same problem would not exist on two systems simultaneously.
Would anyone be able to give me an idea of the problem without my carting it to the Genius Bar first?
Since the display works normally otherwise - the marvelous display itself is unaffected - I have to assume that the problem lies either in the USB cable or connection, or in some sort of internal USB/Speaker/iSight bus. If anyone knows how the current crop of ACDs is constructed, or if you've taken yours apart, I'd be pleased to hear from you.
    Thanks for your time!

  • Help with IOGear GBU521 USB Bluetooth Dongle not being recognized on 10.8.5

    Hey Everyone,
I've just plugged an IOGear GBU521 Dongle into my iMac since it seemed to be a popular Bluetooth 4.0 Dongle  for iOS development. However, it does not seem to be recognized as a bluetooth device only as USB. Before I return it, I thought I'd ask here for some help on things I can try to get it working.
I've read this: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5304985?start=15&tstart=0 . However, none of the tips there seem to be working.
    I've attached a screenshot of the info.plist file under System/Library/Extensions/IOBluetoothFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/BroadcomBluet oothHostControllerUSBTransport.kext/Contents
As you can see, the idProduct and idVendor that match the device are there under the BroadcomUSBBluetoothHCIController - MediaLink BT4.0 Adapter (even those what is plugged in is an IOGear GBU521). So I thought it would work "out of the box", but it's not. I installed this update: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1686? and it didn't have any effect.
My last thought is that my iMac(Haswell) doesn't have any USB 2.0 ports...I wouldn't think that would be the issue since USB 3.0 are supposed to be backwards compabitible, but some have suggested that might be the issue. Can anyone shed some light on the situation?
    Thanks,
    Mike

The format says Mac OS Extended.  All of the settings were set during the disk image restore process.  Even if I format the flash drive as extended journaled or some other format, all of these settings are reverted when I do the restore from the disk image.  I will just copy all of the information that disk utility has so that you can see it.

  • Clicks and popping with recording and USB interface-HELP!!!

I've submitted this twice, got some responses, but has twice been ignored into oblivion. I apologize for the reposts, but this is VERY IMPORTANT, and I've been struggling with this issue for MONTHS now dealing with countless hours of lost time trying to fix it to no avail.
I'll try to include as much detail as possible.
    I use:
    MacPro 2 x 2.66 Dual-Core Intel Xeon
    3 GB memory
    Logic Express 8.0.2
245.13 GB empty space on Hard Drive
    THE PROBLEM:
    When I record, I get computerized clips/pops
    http://www.moogiex.com/clickpop.mp3
    http://www.moogiex.com/morecackling.mp3
I record via a PreSonus Audiobox USB. This problem did NOT start when I got the AudioBox, but several months after.
When I simply monitor the sound going through the box, the sound is fine. It's something between the Box, and the computer output. My guess is some incompatibility with Logic Express or Core Audio and the AudioBox.
It is NOT the microphone or the cable (the pops occur with anything going in, 1/4", XLR, different inputs).
The clicks START with Logic Express. If there are any recording program open when Logic Express is open, and I record, I get the SAME pops.
It did this both under 10.5.6, 10.5.7, and now 10.5.8.
    It is NOT clipping.
    When I'm recording with LE:
—There's 1.27 GB of FREE Memory while I'm recording.
—Logic Express is only using 6.7% of CPU while recording (of only one of the four processors), and about 90-95% of CPU space is free on all four processors.
—This happens on ANY audio input, and it doesn't matter how many other tracks, how long it is. I just started a brand new file and it does it.
—This happens when I use ANY input into my computer, but is STARTED by LE.
    Here are my Logic Preferences
    Core Audio- ENABLED
    System Memory Requirement 66.0 MB
    Device: AudioBox USB
    I/O Buffer Size: 1024
    I/O Safety Buffer- UNchecked
    Recording Delay: 0 samples
    Universal Track Mode- CHECKED
    24 Bit Recording- CHECKED
    Software Monitoring- CHECKED
    Independent Monitoring Level- Checked
    Process Buffer Range: Large
ReWire Behavior: Live Mode (Higher CPU Load)
    Maximum Scrub Speed: Normal
    Scrub Response: Normal
There is *no* driver with PreSonus' AudioBox. It is simply "compatible." Here's what System Profiler says:
AudioBox USB (plugged into my Mac Pro's front bottom port):
    Product ID: 0x0301
    Vendor ID: 0x194f
    Version: 1.08
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: PreSonus Audio
    Location ID: 0x00200000
    Current Available (mA): 500
    Current Required (mA): 500
    Here's what I've tried:
—Disabling CoreAudio, shutting LE 8 off, restarting LE 8, enabling CoreAudio again. This worked ONCE. It hasn't worked since.
—Disabling CoreAudio, shutting LE 8 off, SHUTTING DOWN, RESTARTING, opening LE 8, enabling CoreAudio again. This also worked ONCE. It hasn't worked since.
    —"CPU Saving Mode"
—I/O Buffer to 256, 512, and 1024 (default) (IMPORTANT?—speed of popping actually INCREASES with larger buffer?)
—I/O Safety Buffer checked and unchecked
    —Changing Recording Delay samples
—Pretty much fiddling with any of the controls
—Disabling Airport does nothing (was previously working fine with Airport running)
—Quit all applications, open up QuickTime (pro) or Audacity, and record something. It records perfectly. I go back to LE and the clicks and pops are gone, but only until I use anything with effects, then the clicks and pops return. This works SOMETIMES.
—Reset the preferences, and that has worked ONCE, and then the clicks and pops came back (albeit not as prominent, but they were still there).
—I trashed all files related to Logic and reinstalled. Worked ONCE.
—Restarting does help, but only temporarily, as soon as any pull is put on Logic, the problems return.
—Using a different USB port. I thought this was the solution because the problem shortly went away with regular use of Logic, but problem came back.
—Uninstalling Logic, Reinstalling Logic Express, same deal.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE HELP. I have a lot of money sunk into all this equipment that's practically useless with this recording issue.

Man, I feel for you on this.
I would love to see what your pops and clicks look like in your waveform. If you can take a snapshot of it and post the pic here that might help the diagnosis.
Your audio files certainly SOUNDS like you have a clocking problem. It really sounds like your CoreAudio driver/MacPro and your USB interface are not locked up in sync - as in: which is master and which is slave? I know some interfaces include a software control panel that allows you to set the status of the interface clock to slave to the computer or to be the master. It sounds like yours doesn't come with drivers but is there any control panel for this Presonus device?
Another place to check is in Applications>Utilities>Audio Midi Setup
On the left under "Properties for <your interface>" what does it say for the clock source?
Also in this panel, to the right it should have a button for "configure device". What happens when you click it? For example in my case it automatically launches my Apogee Duet Maestro control panel. In your case it might launch something similar, although I think you mention that you never installed anything, which I find strange to begin with - that this thing should just work out of the box with no driver at all.
I've struggle with w similar problem with my Apogee Duet, although nothing of this magnitude, maybe 4 or 5 clicks per 3 minutes of audio and these turn out to always be sample drops where 5-10 samples in a row are all the same in the waveform, as if my interface and computer stopped talking for a milli second. I did find that if my Apogee Duet was chosen as the default or system output in the Audio Midi Control Panel I mentioned above then the clicking was more frequent, as if choosing the audio interface for any system output caused a conflict with choosing it for Logic. I thought this was strange but you might want to investigate that further too.
At any rate, it does sound like a digital clock syncing issue to me by the sound of your audio. What effect does changing the sample rate of the recording have on the problem?
Let me know if any of this leads to anything.

PreSonus AudioBox USB (2in/4out) when attached to either USB on mid 2013 MacBook Air 11, won't show up in garage band, garage band preferences, apple audio system preferences, apple midi system preferences or even in the 'about this mac' system report.  The device is totally unrecognized and supposed to be totally compliant plug and play.  I'm runnin OS 10.9.1 with all updates.  The AudioBox interface shows red power light and a light on the 48V phantom power button.  All cables are good, Microphone functions and MacBook air is connected to a power supply.  (Macbook, condenser microphone, AudioBox and all cables are new.)  Any experience with this out there?

Yes, Id return it and either:

The best idea is to drop that noisy and hissy squawk box and get a ZOOM H6 which has USB interface with MORE options, LESS noise, and far easier to use
phantom power from the H6 is from 4 AA batts, and not via USB.    (have and use same myself) with these Mics:
The unit youre using is getting 48V phantom via USB, which depending on the Mic, often stinks.

  • Bluebird Microphone and Audiobox USB not working

I just got a MacBook Air for my music and already have a Bluebird microphone and a PreSonus Audiobox USB. These used to work together on my old laptop (not apple) and worked great, but when I got this laptop, the external microphone does not show up in System Preferences->Sound. It's just not showing up. I have tried everything, plugging everything in in different orders, using the other USB port, turning the phantom power on on my Audiobox, but absolutely nothing works. This was an expensive mic and Audiobox so they should be appearing in System preferences, but they're not. How do I fix this so I can record my music again?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Amazon listing says that's compatible with Mac 9.2 and higher. If it doesn't work, send it back. Maybe somebody else here can confirm that they have one that works, or recommend something similar which is working.

  • IPhone 6 won't play with Kenwood stereo USB port. Help !!

I have a Kenwood KDC-BT743U Stereo in my car, which has a front panel USB port.  I've been able to connect my iPhone 4S and play music from my iTunes catalog as well as stream music from Pandora, Soundcloud, Tune In Radio, Mixcloud et al, without any problems until yesterday.....
Now that I've upgraded my phone to a iPhone 6 and when I connect it to the stereo via the USB port, it doesnt play at all.  After about 2 minutes of trying to connect , I recieve a 'USB Error" .   As I stated, I've had no problems with my iPhone 4S, which I've used with this same stereo deck for the last two years without any problem what so ever.
I'm looking for some guidance on next steps to take in order to fix the problem? Did Apple change the spec in some sort of way?  Do I need to go to Kenwood for a firmware update (their website provides no information about iPhone 6 compatability with any of their stereo's which is very odd to me) ?
Please help, my life in the car during long commutes is just not the same......

    Possible Solution:
    1. Go to Settings > General
    2. Go to Restrictions
    3. Enter Passcode (possibly x2)
    4. Enable Restrictions
    5 Disallow CarPlay
    6. Reset Network Settings (Not 100% sure if this step is needed)
    7. Have at least 1 song in Apple Music App
    8. Have Iphone at Home Screen
    9. Connect Apple Original Cable
    10. That 1 Song should start playing
    11. Open Prefered Streaming App and hit Play
Carplay negatively affects USB connection with Non-Carplay USB Audio Receivers.
I have the Iphone 6 with 8.3 iOS connected to Pioneer avh-41000dvd car stereo and the above solution fixed USB audio issues, including Error code 22-65.
If you are having issues upon reconnect, disconnect and bring Iphone to home screen and reconnect.

Yes, I've been using it for months. And I can charge other devices with it. (my iPhone) but something weird just happened..... I kept on pluging it in the iPod and sometimes it would start to chàrge then sometimes it won't charge. Charges every time with the iPhone though.

Once you have the drive connected to your Mac, click System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
    Click Time Machine
    Click Options
Be default, the hard drive will be Excluded from backups. Click the drive to highlight it, then click the "-" (minus) button at the bottom of the list to remove the drive from Excluded items.
The drive will be backed up on the next Time Machine pass
Everything above assumes that the hard drive has been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled) as Time Machine will only backup drives in that format.
