Help with product installation

Hi,
I am trying to install adobe products through the student creative cloud monthly subscription. Adobe download manager keeps telling me that these products are installed, however they are not. Adobe download manager won't let me attempt to install again.
What should i do?
Also, as i have a student subscription to creative cloud, what exactly does this entitle me to?

Are you on a Windows or Mac computer? How are you confirming that the programs are not installed?
Are the programs listed in Control Panel>Programs and Features? or in the Start menu (if on Windows)
Are the programs listed in Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers or in the Applications folder (if on Mac)
I would first try to uninstall, run the cleaner tool and then reinstall from a new admin account

Help with production jvm issues at customer site

Following is a brief overview of two production issues experienced by an Oracle customer. Customer is currently running 32 bit Java 1.5_20 on Solaris 64 bit OS.
1)     OOM heap issues – SR #3-2611053901 – Recently we have been seeing OOM errors due to heap space. What we have seen is that some of the instances are not able to free up any memory space even after full GC, which results into a series of full GC’s back to back and eventually leads to OOM. During this time when continuous full GC is going on, we have seen the TCP connections and active JDBC connections shoot up and also lots of stuck threads. This error occurs during peak hours.
This is the output just before OOM. Just to be clear, this line is printed as last line of Full GC which meant that OOM happened right after Full GC:

2)     OOM swap space- SR: #3-1724941721 – From time to time, we get Exception in thread "CompilerThread0" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: requested 32756 bytes for ChunkPool::allocate. Out of swap space?’ error in our production. Mostly this error occurs during off hours or off-peak hours. When this happen, there is plenty of heap and perm memory available which indicates that this is a native memory error. We already put two workarounds suggested by Oracle i.e. -XX:CodeCacheMinimumFreeSpace=8m -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=128m but still running into this problem.
What we are looking for:
1)     Recommendations on tuning our config parameters -
These are some recommendations we discussed internally. Please validate these recommendations and provide us the recommended values. We would also welcome any new recommendation on updating other parameters if that will help with our issues.
•     Change Xmx to 2048m and MaxPermSize to 512m
•     Specify ratio of young generation to old generation (-XX:NewRatio), and possibly survivor spaces.
•     Use Concurrent old generation collector (-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC), with a compatible parallel young generation collector (-XX:+UseParNewGC)
Our current config settings are:
JAVA Memory arguments: -Did=chaserels-cm21 -Xms1024m -Xmx2048m -XX:MaxPermSize=1024m -XX:+PrintGCDetails -XX:+PrintGCTimeStamps -XX:CodeCacheMinimumFreeSpace=8m -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=128m -verbose:gc -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote=true -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=1641 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false -Djava.awt.headless=true -Dfile.encoding=ISO646-US
In a subset of servers, the settings are same as above but for MaxPermSIze, which is set to -XX:MaxPermSize=512m
2)     Diagnostic help in how to further narrow down to the problem and what tool to use to gather heap dumps
We have tried to take heap dump using jmap on our production servers when OOM occurs due to heap but most of the time, we run into an exception (attached - which is probably an unresolved jvm bug). While we researched some alternatives to jmap for taking heap dumps, most of these require changing the start-up scripts or installing the tool on production system which may have a performance overhead. What we want is a least intrusive tool which could provide us heap dumps/snapshots without much overhead and could be preferably used remotely. If there are other ways of collecting data than heap dump, we could also use them.

Which would be exactly what would happen if there were many objects which were not eligible for collection.
Causes would be either a bug (something not releasing something it should) or because the server is overloaded.
If there were no code changes it could still be a bug that has now only become apparent due to changes in usage patterns.
If that is the case then such bugs can usually be made more apparent by reducing the maximum heap. Doing that will cause it to occur faster.

Help with TRex Installation

Hi, I am trying to install TRex (6.1.09.00) on my local portal (Netweaver 04 (640) - Stack 12) and during the 2nd last step of the installation I get the following message:
"error starting web server" and then the installation fails. When I checked the log, I got the following error message:
"The system cannot find the file specified.)in execution of a 'CreateProcess' function, line (278), with parameter (C:\usr\sap\Python
python.exe C:\usr\sap\trex_02/CCMS/install_config.py)".
I tried installing a couple of times and I always got the same error messages. Can anyone please help me? Thanks a lot for your valuable time.

Hi,
When once Trex installation is failed, subsequent tries will also get the same error. My advice woudl be to uninstall the trex, delete all the sap_inst dir contents and delete the trex website after uninstallation. Go ahead with fresh installation. But the specify the new trex instance suppose previously you have specified 00, now specify 02 or 03 etc.
Never install Trex on same server on which portal is installed. It slow down your portal performance.
As well you need to satisfy the pre-requisites specified in installation directory.

Need some help with OS installation on Equium L10-300

I am basically trying to do something really simple. But thanks to me being unfortunate enough to actually of bought such a diabolically bad computer, I know am on a forum trying to solve a jokishly simplistic problem.
When I try to format my computer, I am not being allowed, the Equim requests I insert some specific CD.
When I try to re-install windows it also tells me I need a certain CD.
I rang up Toshiba last year when I initially needed to format, they told me that its a lock, and that I have to pay money to get a new CD. I cant even explain how horribly messed up that is. How can a huge company get away with obstructing my human rights?
As a computer owner I should obtain the right to use any operating system I please.
Having some fascists dictate what OS I use is totally ridiculous and go's against what my basic rights. Its absolutely sickening
I need to know how to bypass this stupid system lock. Its totally illegal.
Someone please tell me how I can fix this horrible problem.

Generally speaking every Toshiba notebook is delivered with preinstalled operating system. According your notebook specification your Equium L10-300 (PSL17E-XXXXX) is originally delivered with Windows XP Home (factory settings) and specification says this notebook model is delivered with recovery CD and Tools & Utilities Medias. I don't know if you got them or not.
Anyway when you bought your notebook you have already paid one license for preinstalled operating system. Of course nobody force you to use exact this recovery image (factory settings) and you can install your own operating system. Nothing is blocked or locked and because of that Toshiba offers drivers, tools and utilities on official support page. That means you can, for example, install WXP Professional on your notebook. WXP is supported and all necessary drivers, tools and utilities you can find on Toshiba support page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > Support & Downloads.
Please check this page. Just choose your notebook model and you will see all WXP drivers, tools and utilities are there. Toshiba has also offered Installations Instructions document (the first one on the list) to help you with WXP installation. If you want to have own and clean preinstalled WXP just follow this installations order.
I believe this is good argument for you to see that nothing is locked. If you want to have factory settings again you need to install operating system using Toshiba recovery CD. If you don't have one you must order it. BUT you must not do this. Just install operating system using Microsoft installations CD/DVD.
You can try to install Windows2000, Linux whatever you want. There is just one question: where to find all necessary drivers. For your notebook model Toshiba supports WXP and Vista only.
So can you please tell me which installations CDs you have and which OS you want to install?

Help with flash installation

I have tried everyway i can find to install the latest 'flash
player' and for some reason once the installation dialogue box
appears and i click "install" nothing happends. ive been trying
from links aswell as directly from the official page and it still
does not work. I am able to install other programs and such just
not 'flash player'
can anyone help with this problem as im highly confused.

Tecra R840 - Need help with SSD installation

sorry again, but I really need some help with this?
My new ssd (arriving in a couple of days) is a Plextor M5P which is 7mm thick! My Tecra R840-16J have a 9.5 mm thick hdd and for what I saw there is no caddy!
I would appreciate all the tips to install the ssd in my Tecra!

As far as I know some models are offered with HDD and some with SSD these models offered with SSD have small SSD holder. SSD is fixed with 4 screws into this holder.
I really dont know how to help you now. Maybe you should contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. I think they can check part number of this holder or maybe order one for you.

How do I get Adobe to help with an installation problem?

I removed Windows Vista, and installed XP instead. Then tried to install CS3 using the file I downloaded from Adobe 2 years ago. It installed Acrobat, but the other components (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) failed with “Component not installed.” No error message. Never even asked for my serial number.
Phoned Adobe support on Sunday: closed.
Phoned again on Monday. Told to run CSClean. Did not solve problem. Phoned back. Swapped around departments (2 hours total on hold.) Promised they would email a link to download the installation file again. No email sent.
Phoned again Tuesday. More hours on hold. More promised link. Never sent.
Phoned again Wednesday. More hours on hold. Finally given a zip file link. Downloaded it 3 times, using different software (browser, FTP client.) I received the exact number of bytes on Adobe’s server, but the file is “not a valid archive” — rejected both by Windows itself and by WinZip.
We’ve now lost 3 days work, and cancelled clients for Thurs as well.
Utterly frustrated! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO TO GET ADOBE TO HELP???

Help with eclipse installation, please!

I usually use dreamweaver but now I have to use eclipse. I'm
so confuse as where to start. I've googled for guide to eclipse
installation but not sure what to do.
Here is what I found:

it says I have to first install jdk-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe but
I can't download this file because I'm not their student. I looked
around everywhere and can't find this file for download.

When I clicked download, I'm face with anothe confusing page,
I'm not sure which one to choose.
Do I have to download : Eclipse Classic 3.4.1 (151 MB) ? how
about JDK?
I searched for JDK on my machine and I did not see any jdk
except jdk12utils folder, jdk118 folder, jdk122 folder and jaguar
server (jdk1.2). There a re a bunch of other jdk such as JDK_JJ,
JDK_VJ, etc
I need to use eclipse just to develop web application with
coldfusion (locally) and databse Sybase and that is it. No java no
nothing and I'm no java person so these things confuse me, please
help!
Oh by the way, I also read somewhere that once I installed
eclipse I need to install the CFEclipse.

Really? I just Googled "jdk-1_5_0_04-windows-i586-p.exe" and
found rather
a lot of matches. One can download it from the very first
link.
There are more recent versions of Java than that, though.
If you ever need to download a JDK, the Java website is
perhaps the best
bet (java.sun.com).

OK, some background. Eclipse is a Java application, so to run
it, one
needs Java installed.
If you don't already have a JDK installed, then the option
you want is the
one WITH the JDK, because that will definitely be the a
suitbale version to
run Eclipse one. One might not want to D/L the version
bundled with a JDK
if one already has the same or more recent JDK installed.

Well: start by googling CFEclipse. On the website for it,
there'll be a
D/L as well as instructions. It's pretty straight fwd, if one
reads the

You said you upgraded the JRE to 1.4. Did you change the parameter JRE_LOCATION in oraparam.ini, to point to the newer jre? I found some info on this forum thread for this error (but this error occurs before the installation screens even come up. If you're on the screen after the installation summary screen, and it hangs while saying "Link pending, copying JRE" above the progress bar, I am also at this stage.
Although I haven't fixed the problem yet, someone mentioned that you need to install patch 2878462 to fix this problem. I haven't done this yet, but saw the write up here:

I can't figure out how to get the patch since I don't have a support contract. I don't understand how they can provide a free linux download and not give you access to the patchsets (on metalink)!!!! Anyone know how I can get the patchset without having a support contract and logging into metalink?
Anyone know if installing this patch solves the issue?

Help with re-installation

Dear all
i have bought a intel macbook recently and mine being the 1st in a circle full of windows buff's people screwed it a lot.
my mac is getting stuck some times and there are cases were booting wud take almost 10min.
i dont have much of applications installed and all my data is related to my dissertation and some movies.
I want to re-install tiger on the system with the disc provided while purchase.
Please guide me thru' the imp aspects to be taken care of while re-installation and also about back-up issues.
Also, i am not a professional so i would like to with some thing like default settings if there is any !

My MacBook takes a long time to boot too. Most Mac users don't shut their machines down very often. They normally just put them to sleep. This is a lot quicker and it means that you can get right back to where you were before. Shutting down every time is more of a Windows habit. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's quicker to put it to sleep.
I remember when I was on Windows 98 I never purchased any software because I would always have to reinstall the operating system before the 30 day trials were up! A lot of Windows switchers want to reinstall the OS when they encounter a problem. In most cases, this is unnecessary in OS X. The majority of problems can be fixed without a reinstall. If you give us more details of the problem, we can help you.
If you do want to reinstall it, I would recommend a complete install (ie. formatting and reinstalling completely). Back up all of your data (I like to use www.mozy.com for backing up less than 2 GB), put your OS X DVD in the drive, restart and press C at startup to boot from the disk. The installer will help you from then on. Like I say though, this is probably unnecessary.

Ok if you can not find the pin out in the manual, then you will have to look at the MoBo to Figure out how to connect the Front Panel Connectors.
Look to the bottom right of the Mobo, you should see a group of pins. Now look very closely at pins and the area surrounding the pins. You should see some print on the mobo that Identifies what the pins are, and what "Front Panel" header should be plugged into it. The print on the mobo will be abbreviated (ex.
