Help with putting a logo on top of a photo as a web page heading

I am new to this and stuck with what i imagine is a simple
problem. I need to replace a former name with a new one on a
website. The old logo has also been changed. The page headings have
been changed also.
I have a logo scanned as a jpg but can re-sacn it if need be.
I need to take a photo, crop it to fit the alloted available sapce,
and somehow combine it with the logo on top of it, with a
transaprent background so that bi can see the photo underneath.
But, the logo has a white background and I cannot get it to
be transparent.
Re the section titles I need to put in new ones as some terms
have changed. I can remove the existing ones but don't know how to
get them inserted back into the webpage with edit in contribute.
I am trying Contribute as I thought Dreamweaver might be too
complicated for me. However, I also own MS Publisher and the usual
MS Office XP office suite. In Publisher I can make transparent
effects over text sections, which has the logo but not its
background showing, but it won't work with putting it on top of a
photo.
And, I cannot get the section headings to insert into the
page i am editing with Contribute. Please help if you can. thank
you.

First:
1. get hold of a Photoshop-like program that can work with
layers (Photoshop Elements, The Gimp, etc.)
2. Open your logo.jpg and use the magic-staff to select the
background
3. delete the background
4. import the photo you want to use for the background (or
open it in your pohot-program, select all and copy to your
logo.jpg)
5. your photo becomes the background layer and your logo the
layer on top of it.
6. save your original file with the layers as a f.i. psd file
Second:
1. in you browser select the image you want to replace
2. use your right mouse-button to see the properties (height,
width, path and name)
3. now open your logo.psd
4. adjust the file to fit the image it has to replace (height
and with), you probably have to crop the image
5. save your file and export you new logo.jpg, but give it
the name of the image it has to replace
Third:
1. open Contribute
2. Click File, Publish file from my computer
3. Publish the file (make sure you have 'delete'rights on the
website to be able to overwrite the old file)
4. find the folder the image that has to be replaced is in
5. publish you new image to that folder
6. Contribute asks you if you want to overwrite the old file,
and you want that
7. The image has been replaced

Need some help with putting a folder in users directory

I'm not sure how to do this, but what I want to do is put this file in C:/My Documents, but I need to be able to verify that C://My Documents exists, if not put it in C:/Program Files.
Can any one help me out?

This will use the users home folder ( C:\My Documents ) on Win9X (I guess), C:\Documents and Settings\<current user> on Win2K +, and ~ on Unix-a-likes.

Imovie 11, loosing transition when I put a logo on top

I would like to transition between two clips while maintaning a .png logo then after the image/shot transition fade out logo. As soon as I put the logo.png over the transitoin the transtion is no longer highlited and doesnt work.

Yes this is as far as I know - a known problem - one can only apply one effect and if multiple effects are needed one has to us a work-around.
This is tedious but usually works
• Apply one effect
• Export this set of clips as a Full Quality QuickTime movie
• Import this and put it into a new Project
• Apply next effect
• Re-do till all effects are on place.
Working with multi track video encoders as FinalCut - makes this a JOY !
But it can be done in iMovie and even more so in QuickTime Pro (and the need of discipline and persistence and stamina OF an Angel ! )

Help with putting videos on Ipod

Hey all. I'm a little new to this. I'm having trouble putting videos on my Ipod. When I try to put them in i get a message saying "Some of the songs in the Itunes music libary, including the song "...", were not copied to the IPod because they cannot be played on this IPod.
Maybe they're the wrong file type? It does this for every video I have. How can I solve this problem? Thanks for your help!

Help with adding a logo to the paypal checkout

I'm building a website with integrated FormsCentral forms. I'm trying to add a logo to the paypal check out. I have followed their guidelines but for some reason the page in which I have dedicated to the logo isn't secure? This might be the wrong forum to answer this question... maybe it's more of a Muse issue or even paypal but I hope someone has had the same issue and has resolved it some how.

Your logo image file needs to be stored on a secure server. I am not familiar with Adobe BC, please post your question on the Adobe BC forum site. Once this part is done, and according to the PayPal reference that you provided in your previous post, you will provide this secure-image-url to PayPal. If this does not work for you, then please contact PayPal support.

Need help with creating template. Changes are not going through to index.html page

Hi all,
I have an issue with my template that I am creating and also a question about creating template Regions (Repeating and Editable).
Somehow my changes to my index.dwt are not changing my index.html page.
Also my other question is: For my top navigation bar and left navigation bar links, do I need to select and define each individual button or link as Repeating/Editable Region? or can I just select the whole navigation bar (the one on the top) etc...
Below are my steps for creating my template...I am kinda fairly new to using DW and this is my first attempt to making a template following the DW tutorial CD that came with DW CS3.

-Save
-update links - yes
-Select Repeating and Editable Regions (I selected the whole top navigation bar and selected Repeating Region and Editable Region, same with the left side navigation links)
-File close all
-Open the index.dwt
-Save as and selected the index.html and chose to overide it..
When I make changes to my index.dwt it is not changing the index.html
I feel that I am missing some important steps here.....

Help with transparency in logo

Hi all,
My company logo is an ai file (I'm using Illustrator CS4). The original logo is made up of shapes that form block letters, with white paths on top of these shapes blocking out the excess color in order to form the letters. I need to make these white paths transparent so I don't have to put a white box around the whole logo in the ai or eps version (I know when exporting to PS I can make those white paths transparent and save as a gif or tif, but I'm trying to figure out how to do this in vector). When I group all the white areas and set to no color it removes the white background, but then the red shapes that it's covering up below come through. What am I missing? Thanks so much

Without actually seeing the artwork construction, best guess is all I've got....
Select everything, Object > Expand (Or Expand Appearance, then Expand)
Pathfinder Panel > Merge
Select the white objects, delete.

Im new to this and need help with putting a password on my wireless

I've had my linksys router for a few years now and recently have been asked to secure it so no one else in the neighborhood can connect to it but me but Ive never known how and I cannot find the installation CD for it. I have a model number# WRT54G. I tried searchin the forums but couldn't seem to find one I could understand. If anyone could please offer me some help on how to simply put a password on it so just my computer and the others in the house can access the wifi thatd be great. Thanks

To set up wireless security, you must use a computer that is wired to the router.
Where to find the router settings: The router's login password is usually on one of the "Administration" pages. The other settings are all found in the "Wireless" or "Wireless Security" section of the router's setup pages, located at 192.168.1.1
First, give your router a unique SSID. Don't use "linksys".
Make sure "SSID Broadcast" is set to "enabled".
Next, leave the router at its default settings (except for the unique SSID), and then use your pc to connect wirelessly to the router. Test your wireless Internet connection and make sure it is working correctly. You must have a properly working wireless connection before setting up wireless security.
To implement wireless security, you need to do one step at a time, then verify that you can still connect your wireless computer to the router.
Next, encrypt your wireless system using the highest level of encryption that all of your wireless devices will support. Common encryption methods are:
WEP - poor (see note below)
WPA (sometimes called PSK, or WPA with TKIP) - good
WPA2 (sometimes called PSK2, or WPA with AES) - best
WPA and WPA2 sometimes come in versions of "personal" and "enterprise". Most home users should use "personal". Also, if you have a choice between AES and TKIP, and your wireless equipment is capable of both, choose AES. With any encryption method, you will need to supply a key (sometimes called a "password" ).
The wireless devices (computers, printers, etc.) that you have will need to be set up with the SSID, encryption method, and key that matches what you entered in the router.
Retest your system and verify that your wireless Internet connection is still working correctly.
And don't forget to give your router a new login password.
Picking Passwords (keys): You should never use a dictionary word as a password. If you use a dictionary word as a password, even WPA2 can be cracked in a few minutes. When you pick your login password and encryption key (or password or passphrase) you should use a random combination of capital letters, small letters, and numbers, but no spaces. A login password, should be 12 characters or more. WPA and WPA2 passwords should be at least 24 characters. Note: Your key, password, or passphrase must not have any spaces in it.
Most home users should have their routers set so that "remote management" of the router is disabled. If you must have this option enabled, then your login password must be increased to a minumum of 24 random characters.
One additional issue is that Windows XP requires a patch to run WPA2. The patch is located in SP3, so you will need SP3 to run WPA2.
Note:
WEP is no longer recommended. The FBI has demonstrated that WEP can be cracked in just a few minutes using software tools that are readily available over the Internet. Even a long random character password will not protect you with WEP. You should be using WPA or preferably WPA2 encryption.

Help with putting Frame inside Frame

I have created two Frames: one with the code that works with the buttons (StudentsFile) and the second as a Tabbed Frame (TabbedPaneDemo).
I want to put StudentsFile into one of the tabs. The files compile but when I run TabbedPaneDemo the window that is created in StudentsFile comes up but it is not in the Tabbed window. What Am I doing wrong?
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I haven't looked at all of your code, but I do see that you are trying to put a JFrame, which is a root container into a JTabbedPane, and this just cannot be done. It would be better to refactor your StudentsFile class to extend a JPanel, and then you can add it to a JTabbedPane.
