Help with raw images converted to jpegs on mac

Hello there. I recently took some photos with my nikon in the raw format by accident and had my brother convert them into jpegs. After trying to upload the images to iphoto, the images aren't there. My brother said I would have to look them up in "my computer" and then I would be able to view them.  I can do this with my old computer but can't seem to find anywhere on my mac where I can look up "my computer" and open the files on my sd card which I thought would be called Drive(e) or mass storage device. I have been impressed with the iphoto capabilities and would love to view the images I took of Hanging Lake in Colorado. Thank you for your time.

There is no "uploading" to iPhoto - you must Import photos to iPhoto
Exactly what did you do and what issues are you having?
As with any photo (supported RAW or JPEG) you simply import them into iPhoto and use iPhoto to manage them and access them by the normal iPhoto access methods - <a href="http://web.me.com/larryhn/iPhoto_08_(version_7.x.x)_FAQ/Accessing_iPhoto_Photos. html"> click here for a discussion on the many correct and safe ways to access your iPhoto library photos.</a>

  • Need help with Raw file converter for ps6 on windows xp

I had to re-install my CS6  on my computer and now I can't get any of the raw files open.  I'm not on the cloud and am running Windows xp, service pack 3.  Can anyone help?

Thanks Richard.  I made sure that I was totally up to date via help-updates on all programs (cs6 & bridge) and it still doesn't work.  Any other thoughts?   I remember vaguely that I had this problem before and had to download a new file.  I tried looking on Adobe site and the suggestion is the raw conversion  8.3.  Downloaded that (said it was for windows xp, serv. pack 3) and I can see the file but when I click on that it comes up as a .pf file and I"m not sure where to go from here ... or if I have now messed up everything really well.
Yes, XP is on the way out of my life as I need a new computer so this maybe the push that I need.  But in the meantime, I really need to process some images.
    Any other thoughts?

Why is it so difficult to convert a Raw image to a jpeg in Photoshop Elements ?! I have version 12. Once i realized to change the tick box in Camera Raw to 8 bit instead of 16 bit and Flatten image ( sometimes can flatten image if the flatten option isn't greyed out) hey presto i thought i was up and running. However after saving the photograph as a jpeg and renaming it e, after the word edit. I switched off/on my computer only for all the images i had spent time working on to have disappeared. Feeling very upset as there is no Technical Help to telephone at adobe and i don't know what to do.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now.  About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

  • I have a Canon EOS T2i Camera and I want to import the RAW images into Aperture.  How do I import them as RAW images instead of jpeg ?

How do I import RAW images from my Canon EOS T2i camera into Aperture and have them show up as RAW images and not jpeg images?

See the list of supported raw formats:
    http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs/raw.html
The footnote ** for the cameras  EOS Rebel T2i EF-S / 550D / Kiss X4**  says, that the raw format is only supported with Aperture 3. So you will have to upgrade to Aperture 3, to be able to import the raw from from your camera.

  • Does CS6 raw image converter also support PowerShot G1X MKII raw images?

I recently bought an PowerShot G1X MKII and always work with raw images. I have CS5 which does not support those raw images. Before upgrading to CS6 I wonder if anybody has experience with opening PowerShot G1X MKII raw images using ACR in CS6.

I just checked the supported camera list published by Adobe. It indicates that there is preliminary support for that camera in the latest version of Camera Raw. That version will not be compatible with Photoshop CS5. But you could download the DNG converter version 8.4 and convert those raw files to the DNG format and use them with what you already have. You could purchase Photoshop CS6 and install Camera Raw 8.4 and have support for your camera, albeit preliminary support. But new features that have been added to Camera Raw since the introduction of Photoshop CC will not be available to you. But since you don't have those features now that probably wouldn't matter. You could also add Lightroom to your workflow, turning to Photoshop CS5 when needed.  Here is a link to the Adobe webpage that lists camera support:

  • Working with RAW images without lens profile?

Does it make sense to work on RAW images if no lens profile exist for the used specific lens?
I see clear differences between RAW and JPG image in means of distortion.
How did you work with RAW images?

There are many advantages to using RAW, so yes it makes sense to work on RAW images even if no profile exists for the lens.
I see clear differences between RAW and JPG image in means of distortion.
How did you work with RAW images?
You can create your own lens profiles. Or you can manually adjust each image. Or you can set up presets for different focal lengths. There's a lot of ways to go.

  • Strange colour spots (red & green) appear after RAW files converted to JPEG, anyone know how to fix it?

Strange colour spots (red&green) appear after RAW files converted to JPEG, anyone know how to fix it? Thanks.

I use "Export" function to convert the picture from RAW format to JPEG format, resolution 240 pixels per inch. Strange red dots appeared in the area supposed to be dark grey, as per the picture below. The red colour does not appeared in the original RAW picture when viewing from Lightroom, only exist in the JPEG it created. Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

  • RAW files converted to JPEG files on my mac can't be seen by my customer who has a PC: WHY?

I have been using Adobe CS5 for over a year now but only recently discovered how Adobe Bridge helps with work flow and post processing. My first time using Bridge I put all my RAW NEF files into folders and, after processing them in Photoshop, put all the JPEG files into a seperate folder. Before sending said JPEG images to my client, I batch renamed them to make sure the image file numbers were in the proper consecutive order. My client, who is a PC user, received these images and said she was unable to view them. Her computer system isn't outdated and I'm not sure what the issue is. I'm wondering if there was a formating change that happened when I did the batch rename or if the problem is Adobe Bridge altogether? I did all these on my Mac Book Pro which is only a year old..What am I missing??

Did each image have its .jpg extension? i think Windows likes to see the extension, Macs don't care.

  • Edit Raw in extrernal editor, will it use the raw image or the JPEG?

Does iPhoto 06 uses the RAW image when editing it in an external program (like Photoshop) of does it (like iPhoto 05) open a JPEG instead. Opening the RAW file and saving the edited picture back to iPhoto in JPEG would be really handy!
But doe it do that? I haven't bought iLife 06 yet...

it depends how you set up preferences. Go to iPhoto -> Preferences, click on the Advanced cog and select "Use RAW files with external editor". That will allow you to open your RAW file in the converter of your choice. It will not, though, update the JPEG back into iPhoto. You will have to reimport it or do like me and continue to search this discussion board for a way to do this.

  • LR 5 Raw images and some jpegs not showing even after Sync.

I have LR 5 (latest update).  When I was trying to edit a photo from 12/2013 I noticed that only the jpeg images were previewing.  I ran a sync of the folder which showed no files to import.  The files are there; I've used them, I can see them.    Looks like it's all the files in folder 2013 pics, but not 2014 pics. Any ideas on how to fix? Thanks!

  • Newbie need help with RAW

OK I tried doing some research and the latest thing I found was February 2007. SO...
I adopted my computer from my brother. Installed on the maching was Adobe CS...not CS2 or CS3. Recently I was givin the Nikon D40 as a gift and now I can not find out how to view the NEF files on my CS. I am sure that this issue has been completly beaten to death so please give me some slack because I am a little embarrased to ask, but I am also completely frustrated. I really dont want to have to upgrade to CS2 or CS3 because I dont want to spend money on software until I get familiar with the program and think it is worth it. Any help would be great.
    Thank you.

The D40 came out long after Photoshop CS was no longer supported or updated by Adobe. If you don't have plans to upgrade your Photoshop, the best thing to do is download the latest version of the DNG converter. It is packaged with ACR, and the current version is 4.1. You can use the DNG converter to create Digital Negative copies of your raw images, and those can be opened with Photoshop CS as long as you have ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) 2.4 installed. Go to Help/About Plug-Ins and click on Camera Raw. If that screen indicates that your version is older than 2.4, then go to the link at the top of the forum and download the update. Be sure to follow the installation instructions precisely.

  • Need help with RAW conversion in 1.5

Previous tests on RAW conversion have confirmed that Aperture and CI pretty much all in camera settings except white balance. In my previous tests with everything set to pretty much "normal" in camera Aperture's RAW conversion was close but not exact to the camera produced JPG's of the same exact image (camera set to RAW+JPG). I have no way to test but now the same exact images are no where near the same color balance or temperature.
Does anyone else have this issue with 1.5? What is going on?
I can post some examples if it would help.

What are you using as a comparison for the jpegs?
Comparing a RAW photograph to a jpeg duplicate would
not look the same under close examination.
    Let's see the examples.

Let me rephrase and provide an example,
I have the camera set to produce a RAW file and a JPG of the same shot. In Aperture 1.1 the way both file looked side by side in Aperture was close but not identical, the way both files looked exported to JPG were close. After switching to Aperture 1.5 the same exact files look completely different.
Here is an example exported from Aperture 1.5

  • Edited Raw images converting....

I am using CS2 for windows....I edited my RAW (nef for nikon) files in Camera Raw, then open in photoshop. I finish editing and save as jpeg, all seems fine. Then I reopen to look again through My Documents/My pictures and the images are back the way they were SOOC!! They are still jpeg, but look like unedited raw images. When I try and reopen them again in photoshop they look like they have been edited. When I try to upload them to my website they also look unedited. Help!
    Thanks,
    Meghan

Do you mean the colors are off?
Did you convert to sRGB before saving as JPG?
What exactly do you mean by "unedited"?
    Cheers, Rags :-)
