Help with Repeating actions InDesign CS5 animation/buttons

I have an interactive catalog that I'm exporting out as a swf. I have one button on one of the catalog pages to where you click on it a movie plays and a "close" button is shown. When I click on the close button the dissappear animation is called on both the movie and the close button. However, when I go to repeat the actions by clicking on the original button that is supposed to play the movie and show the close button, I can only hear the sound but can't see the movie or my close button. If I go to another page of the catalog and come back it performs properly. How do I work around/fix this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Need help with Patch Tool in CS5

I am having a problem using the patch tool in Photoshop CS5. I click on the Patch Tool and select the Source option from the upper tool bar. Then I circle a gray area in the background of my photo and, holding down the left mouse button, I drag the selection to a black area in the background and release the mouse button. Instead of turning the selected area black it just makes the area slightly darker than it was originally. I just don’t understand why I can’t use the patch tool and any help would be appreciated.

Help with adding a hyperlink to a button?

We have a simple little site we built in Catalyst and everything works great. The only problem is that we cannot figure out how to add a hyperlink to one of the buttons in the animation. We simply want to be able to click on the button and go to another site (the client's Facebook page specifically). Can anyone provide some insight? Thanks!

Need help with repeating Subforms on the next page

I have created two different flowable repeating subforms, for example - subform1 and subform2 in a document with an action button for each to add another subform on the next page. After subform2, I have two buttons - one to add subform1 again or add subform2 on the next page. When I click the button, Livecycle adds the new subform as commanded but the subform is added directly after the previous same subform not on the next page as requested. I have tried to change the pagination settings but nothing seems to work. Can anyone help me define how to get the repeating subform to add to the next page and not after the same subform?

OK, so here's what I would do.
1. Wrap your subform1 and subform2 in a subform. I'll call it sfMaster.
2. Change your minimum instance for subform1 and 2 to 0 or uncheck the box, and set the initial count to 1. (That way you get at least one of each when we start.)
3. have the buttons create a new instance of sfMaster, then remove the instance of the subform you didn't want within that most recent instance.
So, what the user sees is a new subform1 or 2 each time they hit a button. And they'll appear in whatever order they choose it. The user doesn't have to know that what is actually happening is the creation of a new "master" subform that holds both subform1 and 2.
To help illustrate what I mean, I've added a pink border around sfMaster and colored subform1 and 2.

If you want to guarantee it appears on the next page, you'll need to add the conditional break from earlier. Keep working with it to get the settings just right. You may even want a docReady() event that creates two sfMaster's and sets one to have Subform1 and the other to have Subform2.

Trouble Sampling Colors with Eyedropper Tool: InDesign CS5

Hey everyone,
My name is Quin, and I've used InDesign CS5 for the past few years and am working on a magazine layout for the first time. I'm suddenly having a really difficult time getting the eye-dropper tool to extract color samples from images i've placed in my layout. These are either jpeg or PDF images. If I recall correctly, in my past use of the program, i could simply click the eyedropper tool in an image and get my color sample – but suddenly, i'm having trouble getting it to sample color/make a color swatch.
I tried double clicking the tool and excluding everything i wouldn't want it to sample. Tried locking/unlocking layers, tried making sure the image frame itself is selected, tried holding down option, tried trashing the preferences (using a 2012 MacBook Air with the latest version of OS X Mountain Lion)… most of the time when i attempt to sample a color, nothing shows up in the fill box, except the classic diaognal red line over white.
The exception is when i use the eyedropper to sample non-image base things i've already filled, like a retangle, it picks up the color fine. So it's likely image specific. Is there something really obvious that i'm missing? It's frustrating because i simply want to sample colors to get a rough idea for text colors and headlines that can match images, and there doesn't seem to be a quick way to do this…

Quin, I just had a eureka moment! I was having the exact same problem, unable to sample color from images with the eyedropper tool, and when I sampled text to apply formatting, it strangely applied a black rule around the new text. The problem was intermittent, with the tool both working and not working within the same document. I finally realized the tool was misbehaving when sampling an item on the document, but worked fine when sampling images or text on the pasteboard.
So, the document I'm working on is an ad with a 1pt rule around the border. I have the border on it's own layer at the top level, and locked, so I can select items on the ad without the border getting in the way. What I found is, even though it's locked, the eyedropper tool is sampling the border from that layer!
I tried turning off stroke settings in the eyedropper options just gave my text a fill of 'none.' Turning off both stroke and fill settings had no effect on the new text at all. I tried unlocking the layer and just locking the border on it's own, but it still picked up the formatting from the border.
The only thing that worked is to hide the layer! Turn off the layer 'eyeball' and see if that works for you.

Help with wav file, stop and play buttons

Hey everyone,
I'm new to actionscript, and flash for that matter. I created
a new flash file, and a new layer. On that layer I put 2 buttons,
btnPlay and btnStop.
I found some code on this forum, and tried it, but it isn't
working. The code is below. I get no errors, but when I test the
movie, it doesn't play any music. I selected this layer, selected
frame 1, and put this code in the actions window.

I should also note, I have another layer with a movie clip on

As another note--I right clicked on the wav file in my
library and selected linkage and export to first frame as well as
export for actionscript (and named the linkage "adagio"). Might
help with a solution.

Importing Microsoft Word document with images to InDesign CS5

Hey,
I'm trying to import a MS Word document that contains inline images to InDesign CS5.
I tried File->Place with checking "Import Inline Graphics" but unfortunately it imports the document without the images, there are blank regions where the images are suppose to be.
Any ideas?

Yes, aligning image on its own paragraph works, I will skip wraping text inside paragraph, this can be done inside InDesign. Help with folder actions

Automator is still a little confusing to me, I have virtually no experience, but wish to have automated emails sent when the contents of certain folders in my idisk/public folder are updated.
First thing that confuses me is I thought automator worked with folder actions, it doesn't seem to for me and am left running an applescript to detect the changes and tell automator to send the email. This seems rather long winded and not what I'd expected.
Second thing I can get what I've done to send emails when items are added to the folder, but not when they are modified/updated which is what I wanted. This is due to my lack of experience with scripting so any help would be appreciated.
What I've got so far is

You need to save the Automator workflow as a folder action plug-in with it attached to the folder of interest. You start this process by selecting the "Save as Plug-in..." command under the File menu. You will then have to enter the name you want to use for the plug-in and select the "folder action" from the "Plug in for:" drop-down menu. An "Attached to Folder:" drop-down menu will appear and you can select one of those presented or navigate to something else by selecting the "Other..." choice (which you will have to do to get to your idisk/public folder).
Once this is done then every time something is added or modified within the watched folder the Automator workflow will be triggered and run. In your case, because the folder is on iDisk, it will only be triggered when you are logged into your iDisk account.

Problems with transparent objects InDesign CS5.5

Hi, I have troubles with using transparent objects in InDesign CS5.5 (Win7):
If there is a transparent object in the background, is problem to move with another objects over this area. The object moving over the area with transparency "erases" objects below: texts, boxes.... They are not in fact erased, this effect tooks only for the moment of movement and little bit longer. I have to wait for a while and after it is ok, but the work is slower and software is not working fast as I was got used in older versions.
This trouble is not a problem of my computer (I have a new one with 16GB RAM, i5 processor), the same trouble with the same InDesign is on my laptop.
Updates of InDesign are automatically installed.
Can you give me some advice?

Yes, exactly, looks like glitch in the video. After I stop moving with object, everything is ok again. But not immidiatelly, there is a little delay (1 or 2 seconds). It doesn´t demage my work, it´s only glitch effect. But it delay me in work, it´s not pleasant to work with this glitch effects

I didn't even know that i had little Snitch etc!? This is my work Mac and Sophos, Chk Point etc are standard installs by my admin. I installed Mackeeper to help with these issues but unfortunately, it seems that its part of the problem.
You don't have LS installed. The immediate culprits are the third party installations that installed these kext's.

Problematic InDesign CS5 Animation and exporting, any help?

Hi there,
I am an experienced InDesign user, and have recently started using CS5.
I am using it to create a very simple flash website however I am encountering 2 problems.
1. WHENEVER I have consecutive animations, such as a) Object 1, Fly in from top, followed by b) Object 2, fly in from bottom, object 2 appears momentarily in its final location before doing its expected entry - right after object 1 has done its thing. Does that make sense?
2. When exporting as a swf, then viewing in a browser, the page may come out correctly (with the exception of problem 1), except the space around the page is grey. I would love to make this white, anyone know how?
This would be super easy if I could attach a swf but i cant for flips sake.
Really hope to get this sorted, such annoying problems. Thanks muchly

Thanks for the suggestion Peter. Unfortunately I was on Windows so couldn't do any time travelling. Fortunately I'd saved out a few JPEGs for approval yesterday, so managed to recreate the work using them as reference.
For anyone else reading - don't make my mistake! Remember that the Document Recovery feature is only for emergencies, and SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE SAVE.

Having trouble with Color Swatches - InDesign CS5 to CS6

This may be a repeat - I'm not sure I posted properly the first time.
Having trouble with the Swatches in CS6. When I add our institution's colors, they look dull/gray in CS6. I know it's not just my screens because I created a quick EPS in CS5 for comparison. When I add the EPS file to my doc, the colors pop into the Swatches box but they are clearly different colors. The most remarkable is Pantone 484, which used to be a bright scarlet. Now it's a strange, dull mauve.
I took a screen shot to show a colleague with more experience, but he's stumped. There are very few of us that use InDesign on our campus and we're all self taught. Our tech folks usually come to US for solutions.
I did try the instructions under "Display or Output Spot Colors Using Lab Values" in the Help menu, but nothing changed. That seemed to be the only applicable FAQ that I could find on my own.
Here is the relevant chunk of the screenshot I took - can anyone see what's gone wrong? Color blocks are "old" colors, next to Swatches which show the "new" hues.

Help with repeating frame delay

I have this movie in which basically a screen is supposed to come on, hold for 15 seconds, move to the next one, (a little bit of tween in between) hold for 15 seconds, move to the next one, etc. But the whole time there is also a button which enables the viewer to go to the next screen before the 15 seconds have elapsed.
My initial solution for this was to just put in a lot of frames to make them last 15 seconds, but with many such instances repeating it becomes really hard for me to navigate the flash timeline.
So I've found several scripts that would allow me to pause a frame, but they all have the same bug. For example, a frame action like this:

It works fine the first time, and works fine if you don't touch the "play" button, but if you click it a few times, after a few times the screens no longer wait 15 seconds to move on, but start moving at random intervals.
I found that script (and several similar ones which behave the same way) in some forum somewhere, but I noticed the posts were all very old. I haven't been able to find if newer action scripts and flash players support some better tricks to do this?
Anyone know a workaround, some way to get all those frames to pause in their own time without their intervals piling up and messing each other up? Maybe some action to put into the "play" button? Or into the frame?
Anything other than inserting endless amounts of identical frames into the timeline.

I don't know if I did something wrong but I get this error when I do that:

into the button action, nothing else...
is something else supposed to go with it?
I don't know action script, I just sort of paste stuff and sometimes it works.

URGENT! Help with creating more than one linked button

Could someone help a newbie with trying to figure out this.
I work in Flash CS3, AS3.
I've created a button that links to another webpage by using this code (the code is added to a separate layer):

I've got buttons (with a mouse over effect that shows the name of the plant), and in AS2 I could use GetURL to link an invisible button to the URL, but to create the sliding effect, I had to use AS3. I've understood that GetURL doesn't work in AS3.
In scene 1 I have three layers; content, arrows and actions.

On the content layer I have the backgroundimages that slides as a movieclip.
If I doubleclick on the movieclip I have two layers, one with the bakground images and the invisible buttons, and one layer where I've put the script:

JC is the instance name of one of my buttons. So far everything works, but I want to add linking to another button, and I'm not sure how to do this correctly. When I've created the invisible buttons, I've drawn a square, converted it to a button, named it, and named the instance name. Changed the Alpha to 0. I've also added an On mouse over effect, but I don't think that has anything to do with this.

Need help with repeatable subform

I am trying to create an interactive form for users to enter in data and print off. I need part of the form to be repeatable if required by the user. I created a subform and added a button but it doesn't seem to be working (the preview format is Acrobat 8 Dynamic XML and I've saved the form as that too). The top part of the form - Box Information - does not need to be repeatable. I need the File Information to be repeatable at the user's request, so I assumed adding a button would do the trick. The user needs to be able to add as many File Information subforms as possible (minimum of 1).
I've set the content of the parent subform to Flowed, and I added objects to a subform which I wrapped within the parent subform, and set its content to flowed, but when I do this my formatting gets messed up and I can't move individual objects. (Basically, the File Information should look like the Box Information at the top of the form). I also set the Binding to repeat.
Do I only need 1 subform for the File Information or does it need to be in a subform wrapped in a subform? Do I create the subform first then add objects, or the other way around? What script do I need for the button? For now I have (Java):Subform1.instanceManager.addInstance(

I've been playing around with this, and still can't get it. I've wrapped a flowed subform within a flowed subform, and have Repeat checked off. I added a button outside the subform I want repeated, and have used the scripts __FileInfo.instanceManager.addInstance(1); and __FileInfo.instanceManager.addInstance(true); but neither work. I have the form properties preview set to Interactive and Acrobat 8 Dynamic. Nothing happens when I click on the button. I've attached a new sample of the form I'm trying to create. Help please!
