Help With Screen

So a few weeks ago I went to check my computer and a small section of the screen was dead and discolored. Slowly it got worse and now half of my screen is black, green, pink etc. I've heard the best way to fix this is to get a monitor but I would rather get it fixed. How can you get it fixed?

Hi
I'll try to help you here,
Troubleshoot the problem, do the hardware tests from BIOS, See if you get the problem in BIOS environment (utilises lowest video settings), Update BIOS & drivers from HP product site.
Go through this document, follow it promptly. If that does not resolve it, you have to Contact HP in your region for repair:

  • Need help with screen sharing/VNC

I can't seem to get screen sharing to work. I got my dad an iMac this Christmas and thought I could help him learn it with screen sharing. Not going so well. I tried experimenting with a friend's Macbook and I was able to screen share when we were within wireless range via iChat and Bonjour. But when more remote, the "share screen" icon on iChat is grayed out. My friend tried setting up an AIM account (v 4.7 I think) and we still can't screen share.
So I tried the VNC option with my dad's computer. I went to Finder >Go >Connect to server >entered vnc://Dad's IP address and got the message that it couldn't be found.
All three of the computers in this message have screen sharing turned on, firewall set to accept anyone, and have 10.5.1. We all use DSL modems (from the phone company), connected wirelessly; and I'm the only one with a dot Mac account.

    2 ideas
The DSL modems that are provided by my Telephone Company (Centurytel) are all Westell and Netopia routers. The phone company calls them modems, but they are actually routers with a built-in NAT firewall. This means you have to set up port forwarding for VNC to work. The TCP ports to forward are 5500,5800,5900. VNC doesn't use UDP.
If you are both using Leopard, then the free .mac account takes care of the port forwarding problem, and also finding the other party's IP number (the .mac id continues to work for iChat even after the 60 day trial). You both login to .mac, start the chat, and then request to share screens. It's working so well for me that as soon as the 400mb 1.5.2 update becomes available I will start moving my clients over to Leopard

  • Need help with screen zoom please

I just upgraded from Tiger to Leopard. When I had the old Tiger software installed, I was able to zoom in and out on my screen by holding down the Control key while scrolling with my mouse. But since I installed Leopard (not Snow Leopard, since I am using a G5 Tower PowerPC), this key combination no longer works. This former screen zoom feature is important to me because I am a graphic designer with a neurological condition (tremors in my hands) that makes selecting fine points in graphic applications (like Illustrator) difficult unless I zoom in to make selection points larger and more manageable. Note: using Illustrator's magnifying glass feature does not help me, because the select points still stay small when I magnify and image, but using the old screen zoom method made the points larger and easier for me to select. Can anyone help me?
F.Y.I. I also updated my trackball drivers as well, but my trackball preference settings did not change.

Thanks for your input. I hear what you are saying. I have found a couple of applications that worked better with my old Tiger system than with Leopard. When I contacted the developers of these mis-behaving apps, I learned that while Intel machines seem to have no problem with their app's Leopard updates, they do report problems with those of us who still use our old big honking tower PPC's. Maybe that is what I am experiencing here.

  • Need help with screening possible applicants

Hi, I am have great difficulty determining a candidate that can handle a consulting assignment I am looking to fill.
I was hoping to get a few questions or ways to screen through folks, everyone is saying they can do it but when put infron of client are all failing and I really want to do good work.
I am told that all are failing in one area.
I need someone that knows about UI can integrate OBIEE with another user interface, can customize it etc.
for example one task is to integrate OBEII without OLTP application.
With this is there some questions I can use to make sure applicant can truly do this job.
They only have OBIEE in test lab, and are moving it into production.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
    Randy

customizing the UI is always very hard to budget!! Because you can't know how long you are taking about something.
What I know out experience that it is always very expencive to get EXACTLY what you want.
If you only want to see your housestyle back in OBIEE, then you can do that in a couple of days, but also in a couple of week. Depending on how precize everything has to be...
But if I understand you correctly, you have to hire someone to do the job? Why don't you do it fixed price? Just say, I give you this amount of money, will you do that for me!
If someone don't have the skills then he won't do it! ;)
Hope this is a good idea for you..
When you can do everything from remote, then I maybe know someone in holland who can do the job for you (however it's a concurrent of my, but I don't care about that ;))
    best regards,

  • HELP WITH SCREEN-SAVER FILE CONVERSION

    Hello;
I have a family member (sister) who does web design and animation on her mac, but she has had a hard time finding a program or utility that would allow her to convert a mac screen saver to a windows screen saver.
She is familiar with the "iScreensaver" program, but that is very expensive, and she was hoping there might be a more basic mac utility to get the job done.
Does anyone here know of a reasonably priced mac program or utility that would allow conversion of a screen saver from mac to windows format? Your help is much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Damon
    Ps.
She is on an eMac 800 chip machine, running Tiger.
    Dual 2.5 Ghz PowerPC G5

    Thanks;
Think my sis was looking for a program that would not expire. But thanks.

  • Buying a new Mac Pro, need help with Screen

Hello everyone, Im getting a Mac Pro, and I need a good lcd monitor to go with it. At the same time I would like to be able to have a LCD screen in my room to watch tv. Is it possible to watch tv with the Apple displays, any other displays or should I buy a LCD TV that has capabilities to be connected to a computer. I read a post that suggested a Dell screen to somebody for the purpose of watching tv.
Please any advice would be appreciated.
    Gonzo

Elgato <http://www.elgato.com> lets you watch a record TV programs on the Mac's screen.
There are some non-Apple monitors with video, as well as DVI inputs. Some even contain TV tuners and speakers.
Some TVs can be used as computer monitors but there are potential problems:
    Low resolution
Overscan (menu bar and dock off the screen)
    Computer display not filling screen
    Non-square pixels
    Interlacing

  • Noob help with screen icons

I just got an 8830 and have fumbled through figuring out what most of the icons are. I read all the manuals and asked Sprint for help. They were stumped. I figured out the message icon and how to clear it but sometimes instead of a yellow envelope, it looks like a wireline drawing of an envelope. There are other icons that there is no way to figure out what they are.
For example, next to bluetooth icon, there is something that looks like a crosshair for a rifle scope, next to it, something that looks like speaker waves. Sprint was as clueless as I was.
Is there a sticky or something that could guide us noobs through the unknown icon jungle?

Click here, I think you have a text message: 8800 home screen indicators
For example, next to Bluetooth icon, there is something that looks like a crosshair for a rifle scope, next to it, something that looks like speaker waves. Sprint was as clueless as I was.
That would be your GPS icon. When you have the ))) waves that means it's on. I turn it off when I don't need it.
It saves both battery and memory. Go to the options icon, click on it, advanced options, GPS.
To turn off and on toggle GPS service to 911 or location on location aiding to enabled, disabled.
    Thanks,

  • Help with screen layout in PSE 12

Is there anyway to adjust the screen layout in PSE12? I really don't like how the task bars are at the bottom and the panel on the left can't be locked to show the effects window and the layers pallete. All these extra mouse clicks to open and close things is so cumbersome.

You can’t change the tools pallet or tool options but you can hide or show the tool options. It is possible to arrange the right hand panel to your own liking. Simply click the more button (bottom right) to customize.
I have mine arranged in two sets of tabs, being the panels I use most (see image below)
    Histogram, Actions, Navigator, and History
    Layers, Effects, Graphics, and Favorites
Click on Window on the top menu to select those you need and you can drag the tabs apart and re-arrange them as you wish. They should remain fixed.

  • Help with screen saver/sleep?

All right guys...this may be a very stupid question, but I cannot figure it out. I do not know how to prevent the system from "blacking out"(?). I'm not sure what the term is, but it's when it just shuts the computer down after it is idle for a while. I want to disable that so it's just running for a while, preferably so I remain connected to the internet for longer periods of time.
How do I disable the "Black Out"?
    Thanks!
MacBook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

Open your Energy Saver, where your battery and charge indicator are on your menu bar, and you can make the machine sleep or not, shut down or not, whenever you want.

  • Hi can anyone help with a mac that had magnet put on it. I turned it on and then off but a white screen appears with a file with a question mark on it?

Hi can anyone help with a mac that had magnet put on it. I turned it on and then off but a white screen appears with a file with a question mark on it?

File icon with ? mark on it means it can't read from the hard drive. The hard drive is now wiped or bad. If just wiped then you will need to reinstall your operating system, OS X. If bad you will need to replace the drive.
Start with booting the computer from the OS X install DVD that came with your system. If the Mac came with Lion Pre-Installed then you use the Lion internet recovery system to reinstall (Hold down Command+r keys or Command+Option+r keys to boot the computer from over the internet to the Lion recovery HD system).
    Good Luck.

    Hey damien555,
Thanks for the question, I understand how frustrating this may be. It sounds like the update process may have been interrupted, and to resolve the issue, we’ll need to restore your device in recovery mode with iTunes:

  • I need help with my K7N2G-ILSR Black screen

    hey!
I need help with my Mainboard!
All the time when i want to start it it doesn't boot. You can listen to the noise of the fan and it is working but only black screen, also the LED says that the Ram is damaged red-green-red-red!
I have an Athlon XP 2400+
    Volcano 9 Fan
    512MB ram Kingston PC2700
    512MB Ram Infineon PC2700
I read that the board doesn't support Kingston the first time and also i set the jumpers cleared CMOS and put the battery out. Also I put the Ram in different Dimms but still the same error.
The other things what i have aren't really important just that i have an enermax 431Watt. MSI wrote me that i have to put out the mainboard out of the case but why should i do this, the case is open right now and normally that shouldn't change anything. I read also some posts here and about new Ram but maybe there is someone who knows whats going on!

  • Need some help with my xorg.conf My screen "flickers".

Hello. I have a problem with the refresh rate on my screen. I don't know what values to use in my xorg.conf.
    It's a lenovo thinkpad x61 (not tablet).
The problem is that when something is moving on the screen, the image flickers and I get some lines across the screen (horizontal only). Like 1part of the screen doesn't follow the other part of the screen.

I've tried that xorg in both kubuntu&Arch.
It worked in kubuntu but not in Arch.
I've tried alot of media players and both intel&vesa drivers.
Tried Xgl (don't know if it's working) but there is no change.
Maybe if the codecs are bad of the way the media players handles the files.
I need help with this. Or else I can't live with arch.
    This is my xorg.conf atm:
    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
