Help with Sending Mail
I am fairly new to the Mail application. I have a gmail account, and I am able to receive emails, but I cannot send emails. A message pops up saying something is wrong with the server. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated.

In the future it would help if we knew which Mac you have and running exacty which version of Leopard. Please click: My Settings on the right side of this page and fill out your profile then scroll down and click Save. Thanks.
You need to be running 10.5.5 or later according to that link.
Also, repair disk permissions...
Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

Problem polling Inbox with Sender Mail adapter
Hi,
I have a funny problem with Sender Mail adapter (IMAP Protocol)
It was working fine previously.
Now, when I poll the Inbox, 2 things happen. After re-activation:
1. If there is a new mail in the Inbox, the Communication channel marks the mail as read, but still keeps reading the same mail into XI.
2. If there are no new mails in the Inbox, it reads the already read mails in the Inbox one by one. So all old mails start entering XI.
This problem exists only with the Inbox. It works fine with other folders for the same mail ID.
Any inputs as to why this is happening?

We re-started the server and problem was solved. But we don't know why the Adapter Engine was behaving erratically.

Need help with sending Emails... My AOL Account from Apple Mail
I have no problem receiving emails on this account through my apple mail setup but for some reason the sending mail continues to give me issues... it says that my "smtp.aol.com...." server is timed out. Why is it not able to send but is able to receive? what can i do to alleviate this situation?

Help with sending email from RoadRunner account on Mac, iPhone, iPad
Recently, I have had strange issues where suddenly I realize that I cannot send email using Mac Mail (Mac OS X 10.8.1). Its a very frustration condition where when everything was once fine, suddenly you stop being able to send email without what appears to be 'reason'.
Today I learned the reason, and I assume others might run into this as well, so I am posting the issue and solution:
Per Time Warner/RoadRunner support: "When on your home network, the SMTP server does not require authentication. When away from your home network, the SMTP server REQUIRES authentication"
That is what I believe to be a mistake on RoadRunner's part. Hundred of thousands of users will not understand that they need to change this setting anytime they go for a coffee at Starbucks.
So to help, here is what I have come up with:
From Mail -> Preferences, you need to edit your SMTP server list. Click the drop-down list next to 'Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) and select 'edit SMTP Server List. Create two server connections and name one something that reminds you that it is the home network, and the other a roaming network. Set the home network server config to Authentication -> None. Set the roaming network server config to Authentication -> Password and fill in the username/password credentials.
Having both these servers available for you to select from will reduce the impact of this inconvenient requirement from RoadRunner.

You did it. I used your suggestion and solved what I hope to be the last of a very persistent problem.
I made both a home and away SMTP server setting on my iMail. I tested both and are working well.
Of all my research, your suggestion was the only fix to this problem. Now, I hope to be able to send email wherever I am instead of waiting until I am at a home network or worse, resorting to using my phone.

Need help with PHP mail script [was: Can someone please help me?]
I'm trying to collect data from a form and email it. I'm using form2mail.php and the problem is that the email is not collecting the form info and it has the same email address in the From: and To: lines. I'm really stuck and would appreciate any help.

[Subject line edited by moderator to indicate nature of request]Using PHP to process an online form and send the input by email is very simple. The mail() function takes a minimum of three arguments, namely: the address the mail is being sent to, the subject line, and the body of the email as a single string. The reason some people use scripts like form2mail.php is because they don't have the knowledge or patience to validate the user input to make sure it's safe to send.
Rather than attempt to trawl through your complex form looking for the problems, I would suggest starting with a couple of simple tests.
First of all, create a PHP page called mailtest.php containing the following script:

Save the script, upload it to your server, and load it into a browser. If you see "Mail is sent", you're in business. If not, it probably means that the hosting company insists on the fifth argument being supplied to mail(). This is your email address preceded by -f. Change the line of code that sends the mail to this:

Obviously, replace "[email protected]" with your own email address.
If this results in the mail being sent successfully, you will need to adapt the code in form2mail.php to accept the fifth parameter. You need to change the following line, which is a few lines from the end of the script:

Change it to this:

Can someone help me send mail using SMTP server?
I am having the most frustrating problem with SMTP outgoing email account. I use GoDaddy's Webmail (smtp.secureserver.net) and I receive all my emails through Apple Mail but I cannot send any. I haven't been able to for about two weeks now, aside from 3 or 4 fleeting windows of time when I could. Almost all of the time I try to send my emails, an error message says my outgoing account is offline. I've been on the phone with GoDaddy's tech support three times this week and did everything we could think of, which include these steps:
-Force Quit Apple Mail --> Restart Computer
-Change Default Ports to a specific one and uncheck "Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)"
-Check "Use only this server"
-Delete account completely from Apple Mail and re-load (which I had to go into Time Machine to recover messages, and lots a bunch in the process ugh!)
Nothing works! I depend on this email for my business, and I rely heavily on Apple Mail for this account. All of my other email accounts that I pull through Mail work fine, but of course they are not SMTP outgoing. Please help...I feel like I've tried everything and nothing works permanently.At this point there are 2 possible causes to your problem:
Apple Mail
Connectivity between you and the SMTP server
I can't help with (1) as I use Thunderbird as my mail client (the biggest advantage being I can take my mail files and move between different versions of Mac OS X). If you suspect that your problem is due to Apple Mail, then using another email client to send a test message will prove the point. If it works, then the problem lies with Apple Mail and somebody else will have to chip in. If it still fails, then there may be connectivity issue between you and the mail server.
If you google "telnet smtp test" (without the quotes), you will find many articles showing you how to test an SMTP connection using telnet. Don't be put off by the fact that many of the articles assume you are running Windows. The only Mac bit you need to know is that telnet is a command line utility accessed via Terminal. The rest is generic.
Telnet will allow you to interact with the mail server a line at a time and show you exactly what and where the problem is. If you get an unexpected response from the server, go back to GoDaddy and show them the output. If you don't get any response at all (i.e. "telnet smtpout.secureserver.net 25" just hangs), then take it up with your ISP as you are simply not getting through to the server.

Okay, I have my Apple Mail linked to my Yahoo account, and it's been that way since April with no problems until recently.
I moved into my college dorm on Saturday, and last night I realized that I've only been getting emails on my iPhone from Yahoo. What's more is that I can not send emails from my Apple Mail. And when I sent it from the Yahoo website, it took about ten minutes for it to get to my phone, and then it finally showed up on the Yahoo website after being read on my phone.
If anyone can help me with this, I'd be extremely greatful because I appreciate the convenience of the Apple Mail. If it's any help, my Yahoo account won't even access Outlook either.
I tried deactivating it on my iPhone, but it still wasn't popping up on the Apple Mail.
Here's what the side bar looks like (pictured below), and when I click the "!," it says

The server returned the error: The connection to the server “imap.mail.yahoo.com” on port 993 timed out.
And if I take all accounts online, I get this

So if anyone can help me fix this, it'd be a huge relief and I really appreciate it. =)Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
Back up all data.
Triple-click the line below to select it:
~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Quit and relaunch Mail, and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C). In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return. -

I'm working on a Mac with 10.4.11 and using AOL as my mail, for the last 2 days I can't send mail from my FireFox, I can receive but not send.
I'm using FoxFire 3.6.10; I've tried cleaning cache, but it didn't help.
I don't think it is my system, because I can send mail on the Safari.
Thanks for any help you can give me.Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Hi, I'm trying to build a tool to send mail but when I run the program a "E-mail Scanner window" pops up with this message:
"An encrypted email connection has been detected" and I can't send the mail. Once I've closed this window appears this message:

I'm was the same problem and fix it in two steps:
- Change to newer version of JavaMail (I try with 1.4ea).
- Change the protocol to send mail, in this case smtps, because the problem is that you try to send mail to a secure port of smtp.
e.g. in your code:

Hi all,
I have a Send mail step created which passes &REQUISITION.VALUATIONPRICE& and &REQUISITION.QUANTITYREQUESTED& from bus2009 into the description of the Send mail
example &REQUISITION.VALUATIONPRICE& 120.00
&REQUISITION.QUANTITYREQUESTED& 1,000.000
When I test in SWDD, the data shows in the Workflow log (View With Technical Details)
ValuationPrice 120.00
QuantityRequested 1,000.000
Also, when I check it in the work item display it shows as
ValuationPrice 120.00
QuantityRequested 1,000.000
But when I use tcode SCOT SAPconnect: Transmission Requests
the data is corrupted. Notice the decimal and period are reversed.
ValuationPrice 120,00
QuantityRequested 1.000,000
Has anyone had this issue before? Any info will help.

MikeCheck in SU01d the settings of decimal values set for the user.
I faced exactly the same problem where in workflow log it was showing correctly and when the email is sent, the format was getting changed.
Change the settings appropriately in SU01 for the user to whom the email is being sent..

Need help with PHP mail script
I have created a log in system . In that when the user completes the registration process an auto reply(auto-reply@domain) will generate and sent this to users email id regarding about the user name and password (Lo gin Details). After formal approval from the admin the user will get a user activation mail with log in link.
But , my problem is these are work only for mail accounts from my domain only(test@domain). its not send any of above mentioned details to other mail services like gmail or yahoo etc.
i discussed this with some others, they said its the problem with your mail function configuration. but i didn't get any needful information as am a beginner in PHP scripting.
i have contacted this with my hosting service they said its the problem with php mail () function and use php mailer() instead mail().
please give me a solution for the same..

Help with sending emails to multiple users.
Currently we have a process to send mail to muliple users by looping through the list of users and sending each individual an email

Is there any way to setup tuser to contain multiple email addresses?
I have tried passing a list and a string separated by colons (ex: <s>[email protected]; [email protected]</s>) and neither one works.
Question 2
Is it a bad idea to try and send email to up to 50000 users at once using IDM? Besides the fact that I would need to search for specific users and get their email addresses based on their capabilities.Hi,
For sending emails to multiple users, use to instead of toUser. Put the names in comma seperated values

You can use IDM to send emails.
it will be a good idea to break down the email that you are sending into groups/batches. If possible, you can send email to DL s
Else, you can segregate the users based on roles and send emails. This will reduce the load. Hope it helps

Problem with Sender Mail Adapter
Hi experts,
I'm developing a Mail-XI-RFC scenario and have a problem in the mapping. I have created a MI based in the structure of the attachment of the mail. I have a mapping that does xml->RFC and tests OK. When I send a mail to the account of the sender adapter, the system generates two payloads, the 'MailMessage' and the 'MailAttachment-1' that is the xml to map, but I have an error in SXM_MONI 'Cannot produce target element /ns0:...RFC name'.
The Sender Adapter configuration uses message protocol XIPAYLOAD, I have checked Mail Package, base 64 and keep Attachments. Interface namespace is the same as the xml and default interface name is the message interface created of type my xml.
What is wrong?

Problems with sender mail adapter
Hi XI Gurus
We have gone through a lot of blogs and searched a lot on the XI forum on how to configure the sender mail adapter with attachments but we still can't get it working at our site. Here are the issues -
1. When we define our data type in the IR as let's say out_email_dt with namespace "http://www.xyz.com" the mapping fails. In the monitor(SXMB_MONI) the message from the sender mail adapter comes in like this -

Question 1 - do we have to define our data type as "Mail" under the namespace "http://sap.com/xi/XI/Mail/30".
Question 2 - If you look at the content of the <From>,<To>,<Message_ID> tags you will see that there is content with <> tags which is causing the message mapping to fail. Is there a way of telling XI that they are not xml tags but part of some other tags?
2. Also the PayloadSwapBean doesn't seem to swap the payload to be the attachment.
3. Can we use masks in the PayloadSwapBean for attachment names like "." as we don't know what the file name is going to be as we have multiple partners who will be sending emails to the same address and with different file formats.
