Help with setting up Remote VPN

Hi,
Currently our company is using following:
Linksys WAG200G(54Mbps):     ADSL Modem/DHCP/Firewall/port forwarding/wireless
CISCO ESW-540-8P switch for intranet: 1x Windows Server 2012 Standard/ 1x NAS and connected to 1x CISCO WAP4410N for wireless
We intend to enable our network for remote VPN( 1 to 5 users) and as well as upgrading the WAG200G to new equipment to use 802.11n wireless.
Would hope someone can suggest stable small business equipment/s for our upgrade? I have previously bought the WAP4410N and tried upgrading to 802.11n for all our users but was not successful as this unit constantly give us access problems. So right I am only using this for my support purpose. I read the WAP321 is a stable equipment from community comments so may consider getting one for 802.11n access. As for VPN and ADSL modem, hope someone can suggest suitable stable models.
Thank you.

There are many devices that can provide you a VPN solution. Personally I would get a router of some sorts maybe a 2800 or 1800 series and then create a L2 tunnel config on it. There are many links on the web where you could almost do a copy paste of the config. The issue will then be the ability to do a NAT to the router and setting up internal access. That is always unique to the environment so I couldn't help more there without a better diagram and basic configs.
Here is a link with sample configs

  • Help with setting up a VPN on a RV042

Is there any documentation out there on a step-by-step instructions on setting up a vpn on a RV042 router?

    Scott,
You can Google RV042 vpn setup and many links will displayed on how to set up vpn. This might be versions 1 & 2 with different looking interfaces but general setup is the same.
Also if you go to cisco.com website you also can search for RV042 setup guides. Link below was brought up using (RV042 vpn setup) @ cisco.com search.

How do I get extreme to work as the modem and router ?
you can't. the extreme is only a router. you need a separate modem (or disable the wireless part of your old router and use it as a modem - if that's possible).

  • Help need setting up remote desktop (on a router)

    hey networking pros,
I have major trouble setting up remote login (remote desktop).
    Specification : OSX tiger, LINKSYS
now i have managed to use tightVNC and manage remote desktop BUT that was when i was on the same network. Now my laptop lies at home and at school (work) i have windows running and want to access my mac at home. I cant manage to do that. Since i am on a different network and that i have router at home and also i do not use air port express (i use a linksys)
I need a static ip which in need to know the DNS servers (adelphia dosent give that to me since i am not a business customer). I have enabled port forwarding (5900) i have even set up an an account with dysDNS.org (i dunno how that helped).
can some one please give me with step by step instruction.
    thanks

You already have most of what you need, but you do need a little more understanding of what you're doing.
Keep in mind that the Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection client is one-way only. You can connect from a Mac to a Window XP Professional computer, but not from Windows XP Pro to Mac OS X. What I describe below is how to connect from a Mac on the Internet to a Windows XP Pro computer at home.
First, Remote Desktop may look like VNC, but it's not the same thing. Therefore, port 5900, which works with VNC, won't work for Remote Desktop. You'll want to port forward 3389 to make this work. When you go to your router and make this port forward entry, you'll enter the IP address of the machine you want to direct all RDC traffic to. This gets the RDC traffic from your router to your computer.
You went to DynDNS.org to help you find your router on the Internet. The IP address, as you've researched, can change. But if you set up your router to report its IP address to DynDNS then you can always connect to your router by name. You don't have to keep track of your IP address changing. DynDNS will do this for you. This gets the RDC traffic from you to your router.
    So, the steps are:
    1. Set up a DynDNS.org account and you'll give yourself a name such as "myrouter" so that you can use a name like "myrouter.homeip.net" to connect to your home network.
    2. On your router, port forward all incoming Internet 3389 traffic to the IP address and port 3389 of your computer.
    3. On your Windows XP Pro computer (you can't do this with Windows XP Home) enable the Remote Desktop Connection software (right-click My Computer --> Properties --> Remote tab --> select the second checkbox).
    4. From a Mac somewhere on the Internet, open the RDC client and enter the DynDNS name you gave yourself and click the Connect button.
    5. Your Mac will contact DynDNS and get your current IP address.
    6. Your Mac will then connect to your home router, which will forward all RDC traffic (coming in on port 3389) to your Windows computer in your home.
    Hope this helps! bill

  • Help with 10.4.5 VPN connection using PPTP to Windows 2003 Server

    Hi,
I've looked on the discussions for an answer to this but have had no luck so far, can anyone help?
I'm trying to connect my 10.4.5 PB to my Wn2k3 server (with RRAS) using PPTP VPN, however I keep getting stuck at the Negotiating phase of the connection and finally get this error in OSX Internet Connect:
Could not negotiate a connection with the remote PPP server. Please verify your settings and try again.
I can connect from my Win XP laptop so no issues with the router etc, do I need to make any changes to the server config?
    Thanks,

  • New computer ~ Help with setting up

    Hi everyone, Newbie here!
I am going to set my new computer up tomorrow. The computer I am using at present was installed and set up by someone else so this will be a great learning curve for me. Also I had Infinity installed by the engineer.
Is everything I need to install relating to my broadband available to download? What do I need altogether? I spoke to a BT chap on the phone and he said he would help by remote access. I am a bit nervous of this!
I need to ensure my computer is safe and secure and it all seems technically daunting. Norton security came with  my Microsoft Office package. Is this better than McAfee (Net Protect Plus), do I need both? What about a key code scrambler  (someone mentioned this to me). As you can see I need reassurance and help arghhhhhhh.
A step by step guide would be great!
    Thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It is best not to install any of the BT software, just connect your computer to the BT Home hub using an Ethernet cable, or by using the wireless key, if its a wireless connected computers.
    See http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/14964/~/getting-started-with-wireless
Using a direct cable connection is best, if you want to get maximum speed.
I would not allow anyone remote access, but if you have no choice, and cannot resolve the issue any other way, then make sure that it is as a direct result of you ringing BT, and not some random person ringing you at home, pretending to be from BT or even Microsoft.
Many people have been caught out by that type of call, and had their computer infected with spyware.
If you already have a trial version of Norton Security, then by all means use it until it expires, then uninstall it.
After that, you have the choice of using the free Microsoft Security Essentials, which is preferred by many forum members, or using BTs Netprotect which is free with some broadband packages. This has been known to make computers run more slowly though.
    That is all you need.
If you have any problems, then please return here.
If you have any problems with BT Infinity, then please visit the Infinity board on this forum.
There are some useful help pages here, for BT Broadband customers only, on my personal website.

  • Need Help with setting up this Filter

    Hi,
I need help making a filter sound like the one used in this youtube song.
I tried setting it up but I've had no success; even though I know for a fact that this filter was made in Logic Pro 9 according to the maker of this song.
I think there might be a bit of 'Fuzz-Wah' in there too but I've never really used that effect so any tips on that would be great, too.
    Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tf017M8SZZE&feature=plcp
Any help with this would be widely appreciated.
    Thank you :-)

It sounds like a simple hi Q filter sweep to me but getting close to the original synth sound that it is being used on is the challenge. It might well be that it is the filter on the synth itself is what is being swept. Either way, turn up the filter resonance on a band pass filter and sweep it with the lfo or adsr to modulate the filter cutoff if its the synth filter, or automate the filter frequency  sweep if you use the channel filter.

  • Need help with Set-ADUser command

I need a little help with the following command. Im new to PS and I have found this command but it is only one user at a time. I need to be able to update ALL users in AD.
My goal is this. Someone before me set all Users Home numbers to 1234567899 and I need to remove that and leave it blank. The command below allows me to do that but only one user at a time by entering their SAMID.
Is there a way to do this for everyone in AD ?
    Set-AdUser –Identity SAMID –HomePhone $NULL

    Yeah sure -
    Get-Aduser -filter * -properties SamaccountName | Select SamAccountName | % {Set-Aduser -identity $_.SamaccountName -HomePhone $null}

LinkedList<Rectangle> rects = new LinkedList<Rectangle>();rects is an empty LinkedList at this point. It has no elements added to it.
rects.set(1,myrectangle);So you can't set the item at index 1 (the 2nd element in the list) because it doesn't even exist. You need to add items to it.

  • Need help with my Toshiba remote control and receiver for Qosmio G30 161

    Hello to all
I have a Toshiba Qosmio G30-161 and with it I have a Toshiba remote control and a Toshiba remote control receiver, this is the first time I have used it (tried to that is), my problem is the remote is not working on the computer when I press any program buttons the computer does nothing.
I have installed four brand new AA batteries and the remote works fine its sending signals to the receiver, the receiver the detecting the remote as a red light appears every time you press a button and as for the computer I have checked the drivers and the USB is picking up the receiver as a E-home remote receiver which I have checked with Toshiba and that is correct, so all in all the remote is working, the receiver is picking up signals and the pc has detected the receiver but nothing works, I have installed remote control manager but this still has done anything. I have spoken to Toshiba help and support and the end result is they are not sure what the problem is. Can anyone help I require the remote for slideshows for customers as I??m a photographer.
Also to confirm I am running Windows XP MCE addition.
    Anthony Worlock

    Hi there,
this remote contol works, if you use it without any special drivers and special software, only in the Media Center.
But if you install such stuff like [WinLirc|winlirc.sourceforge.net] then you should be able to get some functions for your presentation.
Please try this tool and check if it works.
By the way: If I were you I would first read the Manual and FAQ of WinLirc before starting because its a little bit tricky to handle the program. :) (Too many settings :D)

  • Need help with Hp mini remote

Hi, I bought a new hp Dv3 laptop (dv3-2165ee) few days ago, and I did a clean windows 7 ultimate install, downloaded drivers from hp support site, however the laptop wont detect anything from the remote, the remote is working perfect on my other hp notebook, so the problem is from the IR reciver, i tried installing the ICRdriver many times but no use,
could i get help with this please,
    thanks in advance

In SwitchRes X, try building a custom timing using the following values:
    Pixel clock: 134.86 MHz
    Horizontal Active: 1680 pixels
    Horizontal Front porch: 104 pixels
    Horizontal Sync width: 128 pixels
    Horizontal Back porch: 152 pixels
    Vertical Active: 1050 lines
    Vertical Front porch: 3 lines
    Vertical Sync width: 6 lines
    Vertical Back porch: 30 lines
Put a check mark on the "Positive sync." option for Horizontal but leave it unchecked for Vertical. And you have to have the "Use simplified settings:" box unchecked to be able to enter the above data because otherwise several of the boxes will be greyed out and uneditable.
The whole trick is to get the pixel clock under 135 MHz. In the standard configuration, the pixel clock is 146.25 MHz as can be seen in the data you posted under "Descriptor #0". That's too high for the mini in some circumstances.
One more thing; you need to make the above custom addition to SwitchRes X while the HP is hooked up to the mini via the HP's DVI input, not the VGA input. Since you aren't getting a picture when connected by DVI, that presents a bit of a problem. You can try to start in Safe Mode (hold down the shift key during a restart) which should give you a useable screen to work with under DVI, albeit at a pretty low resolution. Good luck.
