Help with still photo project in premiere 11

I'm new to Premiere 11.  I did a project using only stills and music from my macbook pro. The project is about 6.5 minutes long and uses only dissolves and a couple of exposure adjustments. The orange line runs across the top of the entire project so I thought it needed to be rendered. When I hit the render button, nothing happens. I tried to burn it to dvd as is and it burns to 99% and ejects. It will not play in a dvd player although it will play on the computer at a very low quality, poor resolution. Obviously I am missing something. Any ideas???...thanks

Depending on your computer resources and Premiere Elements 11 on Windows 7 or 8 64 bit as a 64 bit application, you may or may not be able to stretch the classic recommendations for sizing for photos for use in a project destined for DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc. Those recommendations are: for SD, pixel dimensions not to exceed 1000 x 750 pixels and for HD, pixel dimensions not to exceed about 2200 x 1238 pixels. But, since you are experiencing problems with the project that you now have in place, I would encourage you to go by the classical recommendation for photo sizing.
But keep this in mind...your photos are 3072 x 2048 (3:2) and your DVD-VIDEO is going to be 4:3 or 16:9. If it were just a matter of 4:3 to 4:3, then you would resize. But, when you are going from 3:2 to 4:3 or 16:9, you should consider cropping and resizing. Most of the programs offer batch resizing, some batch cropping and resizing. The free IrfanView program is often mentioned for batch cropping/resizing, while programs such as Photoshop Elements (Process Multiple Files) and Photoshop (Automate/Batch) are frequently mentioned for batch resizing.
When you are ready for Publish+Share/Disc/DVD disc and are in the burn dialog (with your DVD disc in the burner tray) you will see in the Quality area Space Required and Bitrate information.
All this does throw into the mix what project preset ot use. In this instance, I would suggest that you set the project preset yourself via File Menu/New/Project. If you crop/resize the photos for DVD-VIDEO widescreen, then set the project preset yourself for NTSC (or PAL) DV Widescreen. If you crop/resize the photos for DVD-VIDEO standard, then set for NTSC (or PAL) DV Standard.
Please do not hesitate ask if you need clarification on anything that I have written.
Thanks.

  • Problem exporting Premiere Pro CS5.5 projects with still photos and h264 video

I'm a longtime Final Cut Pro user and evaluating Premiere Pro for my workplace before making the switch. I have been running into several problems when I try to export raw h264 video from a Canon 5D combined with still images on a Macbook Pro. Either I receive an error in Premiere Pro saying, "Error compiling movie. Unknown error." or Adobe Media Encoder appears to continue exporting (the time elapsed bar continues to move) even though the time remaining stays frozen once it hits a photo it doesn't like. It's not always the same photo.
I've spent several days trying to troubleshoot the issue, including batch resizing all photos to 1920 wide (to match the video settings), and it hasn't work. The sequence is currently set to render in ProRes 422. I've also tried HDV 1080p30 and MPEG-4. I cannot find any consistency with the errors. Occasionally an export will work, but every couple still photos will look like green static. I've also tried batch converting the photos in Photoshop to PNG and GIF without any luck. I'd include my default export settings but I've pretty much tried it all. I'm just trying to figure out what's causing the error since the message is very vague.
    Couple other notes:
There's plenty hard drive space available for export
I can export the DSLR video (h264, 1080p30) without still photos no problem
I can edit the same still photos and video in Final Cut with no problem
I have the same problem with auto-save on and off
I tried re-installing production premium, deleting the preference files and cleaning the media cache - no luck. I also tried exporting under a different user account and it wouldn't work.
This is driving absolutely crazy. I'm affraid to use PP on deadline because I don't see any issues until it's time to export. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks Todd. Your questions were actually very helpful. I'm using a Macbook Pro with an Intel Core i7 processor and NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics card. I'm running OS 10.6.8 and have the latest updates installed.
When I disabled the GPU acceleration, I was able to render and export without a problem. The problem only occured when using the GPU acceleration and mixing h264 with still photos. It also affected both rendered previews and the final export. I'm assuming its a support issue with the graphics cards, but it would be great if you had any other ideas. I appreciate your help.

    Freezing, or crashing?
ID on the Mac can produce reports that may (or may not) prove helpful in diagnosing the problem. I suspect this is something not directly related to InDesign, and maybe not to any of the Adobe apps directly since you seem to be having a problem in more than one. That often inidcates a problem at the system level.
Nevertheless, it won't hurt to try to gather the reports. You'll find driections for how to generate them, and to post them on Pastebin.com (then put a link to them here) so we can see what's going on at Adobe Forums: InDesign CS5.5 Not Responding

Can anyone help with uploading photos fom iPad to Facebook?  Thanks

What app are you to trying to use ? You can't upload photos to Facebook via Safari, but a number of the Facebook apps support it e.g. the 'official' app : http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/facebook/id284882215?mt=8 (thought it's optimised for the iPhone/iPod Touch it does support uploading photos), Friendly For Facebook (http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/friendly-for-facebook/id400169658?mt=8)

  • I cannot install, I have taken all the suggested steps, but it still keeps saying error, I need this to help with a college project and I cannot afford to buy anything new. Is there anything I can do to install it properly?

I have had Photoshop for several days now and for the few days I have tried I just can not install anything what-so-ever. I have taken all of the suggested steps and it didn't do anything to help, it still had some sort of error. I have contacted Adobe, but haven't heard anything.
I really need this Photoshop for a project that needs to be completed before February. I do not have time or money to buy or exchange for new one.
I really need help I just don't understand what is going wrong and I really need help!

I think i know what the problem is here.  You have downloaded the Apple MAC version and trying to install on a Windows system.  If this is so then you will get this error message.
Try to download the Windows version and then see if it works this time.  Windows and Apple MACS are two different types of operating systems.  Windows is widely used in the market place because of Microsoft's Marketing expertise while Apple MACs is used in the printing industry.

  • Help with Stills and Motion

I just came over to Mac and took advantage of the promotion on FCE. I am a still photographer and have found that putting my pictures into a video is much more impressive than handing someone a pile of photos. What I need seems to be relatively simple, but I'm about to tear my hair out: Using only still photos, I would like to cross fade into each one while each one has some movement (within the frame). In other words, gentle pans and zooms with slow crossfades. I have several working, but I just can't seem to repeat the procedure and I'm spending way too much time trying to get each to work properly. I've tried putting on the same video track and on two tracks and can't get it down to a routine. I would really appreciate someone giving me a tip on finding the trick to getting this down. Yes, I've read the manual and dug into the forum. Appreciate any help.
    Thanks
    mp

I recently finished a project with nearly 200 still photos in FCE HD. While iPhoto and iMovie can create photo montages, iPhotos applies the same transition and duration to each photo. iMovie allows you to vary the transitions and duration of each photo, and switch up the music.
What i've done before was lay down my music on a seperate track. Then, add the photos into the timeline, changing on the beats or whatever. Let the flow of the music determine the duration of each photo.
You'll have more control in FCE HD, but iMovie will do the trick. Either way, send the finished project to iDVD for burning.
    Best of luck!
    Nathan.

  • Need help with lost iMovie project.

I was creating an iMovie project for school and needed to save it on a USB, so I clicked on 'Export Movie' from the 'Share' options menu in iMovie. I chose the type I wanted it saved in (viewing for computers) and then a smaller screen in iMovie popped up saying it was exporting the movie, or something like that. It took about a good 30 minutes and my project was a 7 minute movie with film clips, music, transitions, ect. I exported this project to my USB but when it finished it wasn't on there and when I finally found it on the Mac somewhere, I went to drag it into my USB but it said it was full. I then dragged the project onto my desktop and tried to open it to see if it worked. When I did the iMovie icon jumped once and stopped. I clicked on iMovie and it was still there in the projects screen. I then decided to close iMovie and open the project again from my desktop to see if it would play like a normal movie but once I clicked it the iMovie icon jumped again, opened but my project that I was trying to open was not there anymore and wouldn't open from my desktop file. I cannot open it at all and view it, it has been lost from my iMovie. Is there a way that I can get it back? Really need some help with this.

What version of iMovie are you using?

  • Claymation with still photos

I am looking for help in importing digital still photos from iphoto to imovieHD 6.0.3. I am trying to set a very short play time so that when viewed as a whole the photos become an animation of three clay figures. I've seen it done w/ older versions of imovie. I've selected all of the photos in the clip viewer and shortened the duration via the photo properties panel and this didn't shorten the play time. I've been able to individually click on clips and set the play time to a shorter length for each individual clip but haven't been able to do this for all of the clips at once, and there are hundreds of them at this point. If anybody has any ideas on how to process all of the clips at once I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Thank you for the advice. I am not sure if I am clearly understanding your directions. I have clicked the media tab and opened the iphoto library that I want to import. I can see all of the thumbnails. I have selected all of the photos and opened the photo settings box. I've unchecked the KB effect and entered the 00:00:00:01 in the duration box. When I click apply my still photos are imported into the timeline with a duration of 0:09:29. When I select all of the photos in the timeline and click <show photo settings> and then set the duration using the slider to 0:03 (which is the shortest amount of time that it is allowing) it imports the photos with a duration of 0:09:29. It looks like I'll have to hand enther the duration into every "clip" in the timeline.

  • Help with placing photos in Lightroom 4.2

I am making my first book in the Book module and I'm not finding it as flexible as I expected. I'm slowly figuring out some answers to the questions that have arisen, but I'd like some help with the following.
    1. Can I add a small photo to the last page above the logo?
    2. Can I put a border around a photo on the front, like a frame? Or do I have to prepare a jpg in Photoshop Elements with the frame and my photo?
    3. Can I move or resize those yellow-bordered placement boxes, or make a custom layout if none of the layouts are exactly what I want?
Answeres to these questions will take a lot of frustration out of the process. :-)
    Thanks,

  • Help with Rendering/Finalizing Project Please?

    Hi,
I am so new to this entire Adobe and video making that I've spent the last few hours pulling hair literally.  I am hoping that some of you experts can take some time to give this novice some much needed guidance.  Okay, I'm begging!
I recorded a wedding on a XHA1 MiniDV camera in 1080p 24fps.  Captured the clips to PP CS4 which in turn makes them MPEG, I believe.  Included in my project are addition clips imported from a Canon HF S21 also in 1080p 24fps and a Rebel T2i in ?? format.  Didn't use too many clips from the rebel.
Anyhow, my project settings in PP are:
Video -  Display format = Frames
Audio - Display format = Audio Samples
    Capture Format = HDV
All Scratch disks are saved on to my desktop with 284 GB
Here is a picture of the sequence settings:
Again, sorry for the ignorance and stupiditiy.  I am wondering what would help.
I am trying to burn it all with chapter markers and additional features to a DVD.
    - What would be the BEST settings for exporting to Encore?
    - Should I separate each section into a different sequence - would that help?  For example, the pre-ceremony to one sequence.  The ceremony to another.  The reception to another.    Or should I make new projects for each?
    - How can I make my computer faster?  Is it the memory, ram, etc?  What should I do?
Right now, it has failed over and over in rendering in After Effects.  It stops encoding when I export to AME.  It says 158 hours for rendering in PP.
    HELP!
I am using an iMac and here are computer specs (again, I am not even sure what to post to help you all help me):
      Model Name: iMac
      Model Identifier: iMac11,3
      Processor Name: Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed: 2.93 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 1
      Total Number Of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per core): 256 KB
      L3 Cache: 8 MB
      Memory: 8 GB
      Processor Interconnect Speed: 4.8 GT/s
      Boot ROM Version: IM112.0057.B00
      SMC Version (system): 1.59f2
Here is a pic of what I'm working on.  I know the pic-in-pic feature probably doesn't help with rendering time either but 158 hours is killing me.  In fact, when I go to sleep, I wake up to an error message where PP has closed.

    leevang,
Your computer looks great.  I wouldn't be too worried about the time PP shows for encoding etc.
I have found that right when I first start to encode a project, 73 hours or 12 hours is normal. Rendering is not necessary for encoding.  However  when I look back later, the time has dropped greatly.
    Down to 2 or 3 hours.  that's when I follow Jeff B.'s suggestions when I do a  2X scan.......

  • Problem With Still Photos in iMovie 06

I am creating a movie that includes still photos. The stills are all imported from iPhoto. The problem is, when i import some of them, the little red bar runs across the bottom of the photo and then it goes black. Photo appears to be gone, just a black frame left. It doesn't happen to all of them, just some. All are jpegs. Any ideas what the problem is?
    Thank you for your time.

    Hi
And this 100Gb is on Your internal (start-up) drive ? Others don't count.
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:*
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
    • Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
    • Delete iMovie pref file - or rather start a new user/account - log into this and re-try
    • Third party plug-ins that doesn't work OK (not relevant for iMovie’08)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 5.0.2, up to Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK
    • Program miss-match: iMovie 6.0.3 or 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Program miss-match: iMovie’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4.1 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
    • Screen must be set to Million-colors
    iMovie pref file resides:
Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named: com.apple.iMovie.plist
While iMovie is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
    Now restart iMovie.
From LKN 1935: (in this case = iMovie HD (5), I tried it all, but nothing worked.
Your answer (above) has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that
there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled
iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos)
to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before.

  • PE4 with MF6 + trial version, help with Blu-Ray project

Is there a work flow I can read up on to accomplish this. I have a Canon HV20 HDV media. Use HD Split import M2T files into PE4 preset 1080i 30, render than save to desktop as same. The file is 1440x1080. I'm trying to make a high definition disk to playback on our Pioneer Blu-Ray player. Using Movie Factory 6+ trial version. Thank you.

Thanks for the reply Paul I appreciate that. Let me go back over what I've done so far as my last post was incorrect. Moved M2T clips from HDsplit into PE4 with a new project setting of NTSC-HDV 1080i 30. Saved to computer with a select MPEG pre-set HD 1080i 30. The short clip plays fine with WMP and properties is at 1920x1080. Using MF6+ I would like to burn my high definition movie clips to a standard DVD to be played back in our Blu-Ray player. Are these the right steps so far to import the clip into MF6+? I just recently downloaded the trial version but last night I found a help/info section in MF6+ so I plan on reading through that to get acquainted with their terminology.
Will I be burning a data disk to make this work? Maybe a couple of cliff notes to get me started so I can better understand how to do this. Your advice and suggestions are welcome.

  • HT201317 Help with deleting photos.

Hello, I am slightly frustrated with photo management on my iPhone and iPad. I seem to end with a photo appearing in my Camera Roll, an album, and in photo stream on both devices. Is there a simple and quick way to delete it from all locations, as at the moment I have to delete it from each individually.

No, unfortunately you cannot delete a specific picture on all locations with just one click. It is like you described, you have to do it manually one by one.
