Help with .swf Load on Index Page
Hello,
My website has a flash component on the index page.
I would like to ask for some help regarding the initial load of the .swf file.
What is happening is when one first sees the homepage, the area where the .sfw file is located is just a large white blank area until the flash become active.
Is there a way to have an image from the start, then load the larger flash animation so the white blank spot does not appear?
I ask my html coders if this could be done through html with an image say in the background and was told it is not possible.
Here is the site - www.metroplexmultimedia.com
Thanks for your help!
A follow-up on the same issue.
I am still having some issues with an swf file on the index page. Any more help would be appreciated.
What I would like is two-fold:
1) The viewer to see the first screen of the .swf as soon as possible
2) The four screens in the .swf to scroll to the next screen automatically every 5 seconds or so. (right now they only change when you hover over a button)
Is it is possible to program the swf file to auto scroll through the four slides, retain the button functionality and keep the Flash timeline short?
Maybe CSS might be a better appraoch for this functionality?
If I could ask, what do you think?
Is it possible to do this in Flash or is CSS really the only way?
Thanks,

I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs. Why?
I applied a template to a page with SWFs and now that page does not play the SWFs (just a blank area where the SWF should be). When I detach the template it will play the flash file. This site will eventually be updated via Adobe Contribute. And I just discovered that when applying a template to a page that uses HTML datasets (Master/Detail),it no longer reads the Master/detail regions and displays a blank. Any thoughts?
[Moved to Dreamweaver forum by moderator]Firstly, you shouldn't really 'apply' a template to a page, you should create a child page by going to FILE>NEW>Page from Template. Too many things can happen when applying a template the way you are doing it. eg:; editable and non-editable regions not matching up and being asked where to place these regions and in all likelihood, you end up with 2 or more of the same region.
When a swf file is inserted into a page, a corresponding Scripts folder is written automatically is stored in the root of the site - it is also linked to in the head of the document. What I believe is happening is that when you apply a template to the page, the Template has no idea that there is a swf file on the page and is not aware of the correct link to the Scripts folder. If you do a test and add the swf file to the template page itself, I bet that the links to the swf and the scripts folder are correct - because DW knows the correct path to the script file. Hence the reason the page probably works when you detach it from a template. -
Looking for help with movie loading in a different spot every time page reloads.
Hello,
I have a Flash movie that I need to jump to a one of 6 chosen frames when say a user hits the back button or home in the site. I just dont want the same user seeing the flash movie replay in the same spot everytime they go back to home.
ANY help with this is appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time.

Here is what I have scripted:
var numbers:Array = [2,114,415,687,960,1195,1485];
_root.firstTime = true;
if(firstTime) {
firstTime = false;
var frame:Number = Math.floor(Math.random() * numbers.Length);
gotoAndPlay(numbers[frame]);
I have also tried this:
Array.prototype.shuffle = function() {
for (var ivar = this.length-1; ivar>=0; ivar--) {
var p = random(ivar+1);
var t = this[ivar];
this[ivar] = this[p];
this[p] = t;
ASSetPropFlags(Array.prototype, ["shuffle"], 1, 1);
var Array_ar:Array = new Array(2,114,415,687,960,1195,1485);
Array_ar.shuffle();
index = 0;
function load_random() {
gotoAndPlay(Array_ar[index++]);
if (index == Array_ar.length) {
(index=0);
load_random();
But this keep jumping to frame 1 each time i hit back or refresh.
Thanks again.That did not work. It loops back to the frame that it first loaded to not to frame 1 the beginning.
It tried putting gotoAndPlay(numbers[frame]); on the very last frame, then I made a new keyframe after the very last frame and neither worked.
You can see the swf here:

Thank you for your help.

Howdy,
I am working on a website with just plain html/css at the
moment. I was provided a SWF intro for the splash page from a
developer who designed the page. I have implemented the object and
embed code so the SWF loads. Problem is that I want to click the
SWF and have it take me into the website. I tried using a href, but
that doesn't work. Can someone please help me?
thanksThere is a possibility that when developers making flash ad
,implement the clickTag method.
I am not sure it is done in your case.
If it is done the link to the website can be done while
embedding the flash movie in html
like this embed src="name of
your_swf?clickTag=link_of_thewebsite"
Else you should make necessary changes in the source file.

Help with AS3, loading multiple files into a movieclip in specific order in scrollbar
Hello! I am in need of some advice. We are trying to build a site with these features:
Our site will be built in Actionscript 3.
1. A navigation menu that, when a button is clicked, will scroll the site quickly to a specific Y position using swfaddress.
2. The entire site is controlled by a flash scroll bar, which will be scrolling a single movieclip.
2A. The movieclip will load content corresponding to the navigation categories, all which is organized into zipped files (using this to extract the contents of each section, example: about.zip for the about section of the site)
2B. The movieclip will load multiple zipped files one by one that correspond to the navigation, in order, making the site appear to be very tall.
**What we are in need of is understanding how to load multiple zipped files into a movie clip, in a specific order, and having them scroll between one another through the navigation. The separate navigation categories can be in movieclips instead of zipped files if that is easier.
Here is a reference of something that works like this: http://swfc-shanghai.com/#/about/Hello kglad! I have set aside the idea of using zipped files, and am now just using multiple external swfs that I'd like to load into the movieclip in a specific order. Any thoughts?
I'm new to AS3, and I'm attempting to create a scrolling movieclip that will load multiple external files, in order, into that movieclip. I'm using XML as well. At this point, nothing is loading into my movieclip (contentMain) and it's a bit frustrating! Thank you for your help!

Help with Flash code in web page
I have a Flash file in the masthead of my web site that shows
a slideshow. I want to code the page so that if the viewer doesn't
have Flashplayer, an alternative jpeg comes up in the masthead
instead of the file with the flash slideshow. I'm afraid I'm new to
most of this.... I'd very much appreciate help with the
programming.
Thank you!
Here's the file:

(the slide show isn't working at the moment -- a server issue). The
alternate file I want to put in is:
http://www.ewgaphilly.com/alternate_mast.jpgI'm sorry to be so dull on this, but I'd appreciate if you
could tell me specifically which is the embed code (the codes in
the <head>? What to I change here? I really appreciate your
help.

Is there anyone who can help me to design a index page
Hi guys
I would like to design a index page like this site :
http://www.hostplate.com
Is there anyone who can help me ?Your example site is built with WordPress (a popular open source framework).
You'll need to have a good working knowledge of HTML, CSS and some familiarity with PHP code & the ability to set-up a MySql database on your server. The good news is that there is a wealth of on-line information available to you.

I'm doing master data validation on the load, so if a load fails for InfoCube A, it fails for InfoCube B too (this is because i can have only 1 InfoPackage for the 2 infocubes, because of the delta update).
So i propose a new model in wich:
- The delta load is taked first to an ODS.
- ODS is cleaned before the delta update.
- Then i create 2 InfoPackages for full load from ODS to Infocube A, and from ODS to InfoCube B.
With this solution i can have 2 infopackages from ODS because i'm not doing a delta load from here to the cubes, and with 2 infopackages i can have independent validations for each cube so if one of them fails, the other can still be loaded sucessfully.
The solution fails because if i load delta from R/3 to the ODS i can't clean it first. The initialization and the old updates needs to be previuslly loaded on the ODS. Then i can't do full load to the cubes and neither have 2 infopackages.
Please help me to solve this issue.
thanks a lotHi jeremy,
what about this simple solution:
load data by delta from R/3 in your ODS. You can also have an ODS/cube for the historical data which is more space-saving than holding all the old data in PSA. Then you load your historical data from PSA into the historical ODS/cube.
From your ODS with the actual data you update your requests by full from ODS into the cubes with 2 different full infopackages. But because you load by full you have to use deletion selections in the infopackages to avoid duplicate data!
regards,

Dreamweaver exchange loads my index page
Anytime i click on the dreamweaver exchange link on the new
files dialog box when no documents are open, it loads the index.php
page into an exteral text editor. Plus it never actually takes me
to the dreamweaver exchange web page it is supposed to. Does anyone

Contact your web host and ask them which default domain name you should use for your home page. Also ensure you are uploading to the correct folder on your server. Some hosts designate a folder such as html_docs, public_html or docs as a site folder.

Help with how to forward the page from the serlet
Hello,
I previously post this page in a different place, sorry about that, however, i have small problem in forwarding servlet,
here is my servlet class
public class UploadTransferServlet extends HttpServlet {
public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response)
throws ServletException, IOException {
HttpSession session = request.getSession(true);
UploadTransferForm uForm = (UploadTransferForm)session.getAttribute("form");
Session sess = null;
try {
sess = Waterfind.getSessionFactory().openSession();
} catch (net.sf.hibernate.HibernateException e) {
logger.error("Error opening hibernate session", e);
try {
} catch (Exception e) {
logger.error("Error adding image to the database", e);
try {
sess.close();
} catch (net.sf.hibernate.HibernateException ee) {
logger.warn("Exception closing session", ee);
if (sess != null) {
try {
sess.close();
} catch (net.sf.hibernate.HibernateException e) {
logger.warn("Exception closing session");
ServletContext servletContext = this.getServletContext();
RequestDispatcher requestDispatcher = servletContext.getRequestDispatcher(uForm.getForward());
logger.debug("forwarding " + uForm.getForward());
requestDispatcher.forward(request, response);
} // doPost
} // ImageUploadand i do get forwarding /admin-add-trasnfer-form.html?formId=30402
in my log f ile,
however, in browser, it wouldnt forward to the page.. why is that?
only half of the page load up, inc the html header,
and address bar, it shows the servlet name.. not the actual page,
how do i get to load the complete page,
and is there is a way to update the actual page address in the address bar as well?i found the problem. its a jsp related problem, not wasnt getting the id, fixed it, thanks :)

Need help with SWF page transitions please :)
I am having an issue recreating something I have seen on
other flash sites... (For example on 2Advanced.com) It is hard to
explain but I will do my best. I am advanced in design, layout,
tweening, and am a beginner to intermediate action scripter. So
even if your solution is a point in the right direction to some
code I could pick up and noodle around with that would be great.
That having been said, on to the issue, it's a 2 parter:
Part 1:
I have a Master FLA (or SWF) containing navigation that loads
secondary SWF pages into movie clip containers for the 5 additional
pages of the site. These load above the Master movie clip masking
it (Navigation floats above) so the loaded pages are sandwiched in
between.
View page in it's current state here:
http://sky.prohosting.com/tk421808/rwip/gallery_MAIN.html
This works ok right now, but I have the SWFs replacing one
another in one single movie clip container. What I would like to do
is similar to shuffling 5 cards... if you want the 4th card down
you pull it out, it goes to the top and slides over the last
visible card on top. So I would like the first page clicked to
slide in covering the master MC, the second page clicked, to slide
in covering that one, and so on and so forth. This would be easy if
the pages were linear, then I could just stack the movie clips, but
since the user will click out of order I need a way to load one
into MC_2 (on top), Then when another is clicked have the MC_2 SWF
move down a level (Swap MC?) to allow the second to slide in above,
and then delete the movie that has moved down into level one
(Bottom) then have this repeat when another movie is clicked. This
way it will look like the page you clicked is always sliding in
over the one you are leaving.
Part 2:
I have no idea how to do this next part but... I believe it
involves a gotoAndPlay. I would like to have animation in the movie
that is unloading after the button for the next page to load is
clicked... in other words, you have loaded a page, you click on
another link, and before the new external SWF page loads, the
current performs a gotoAndPlay where I have animated some
de-constructing swipes that remove the text, shapes holding the
text, and the image. ONLY THEN does it start to load the movie for
the link it selected. I think what I am trying to ask here is how
does it carry the link through the unloading animation until it's
done and then execute the loading of the new external SWF of the
link they just clicked?
I pray this makes sense... If not I would be happy to explain
further. :) Thanks in advance for any help!>> I have no idea how to do this next part but... I

<<
You don't use frames. I'd probably use Fuse for this - which
is a sequencing
engine. (www.mosessupposes.com) You can call a function when
the sequence is
done animating - using what's known as a callBack function.
That'd be the
best way, IMO.
For part one, you could either place mutliple empty movie
clips, or just
create them using createEmptyMovieClip - which is a MovieClip
method, and
then load your swfs into them with MovieClipLoader. You can
use swapDepths
for layer control, in order to have any given clip move above
another, layer
wise.

Help with adding audio files to page
I am using DW CS5. I have had numerous troubles adding audio files to any page. Please know that I am not at all computer savy when it comes to html codes etc. But I have been working with DW CS5 and have a functional website and my pages validate. That being said, please be patient with me if I am asking stupid questions or don't understand the solution.
Now to the problem....I originally wanted to add mp3 files...but I am not sure how to work with plugins or which plugin to use.
Therefore, I converted my mp3 files to swf and used the insert media file feature in DW CS5. But when I look at the finished page...I only see a big white box. Nothing happens when you click on it.
First question...which is the best method to add audio files?
Second question...what steps do I need to follow achieve the desired result?
Note: there is one validation error on this page and I'm not sure why or how to fix it. Any suggestions here would be greatly appreciated.
Here is the code for the page (or you can go to this link: http://02cada7.netsolhost.com//test2/cupotea.shtml):

Currently if you click on the play button another window pops up which has the play/control/stop buttons to control the audio file. The attribute is set to new window. If I change the attribute to parent window, then the page that has the control buttons overlays ontop of the page with the link.
To get back to the original page, one must click on the back arrow near the address bar.
Isn't there a way to not have a separate window appear? In other words, the controls are embeded into the parent page?
