Hi , I have a 30 gb Ipod, ever since I downloaded the new version of Ipod 7.1.1 I cannot sync my Ipod with my computer. My Ipod goes into do not disconnect mode and my computer does not recognice that the Ipod is connected.
My son has an Ipod and the same thing happens to him on my computer, however he has ver 5 of itunes on his computer and it has not problem recognising that my Ipod id connected, can some one help me or give me a link to and older version of itunes since that seems to be the problem.
Thanks in advance
Iddy

  • Need some help with computation

    Hi, I need some help with the following:
    My page 3 is a form thats shows, among other things, a document ID (:P3_DOC_ID). Next to this item I have created a button that calls a document selection form (page 10).
    On selection this forms sets 2 items:
    P10_SELECTED (Y or N)
    P10_DOC_ID (the selected documents ID value)
    When the user selects a document he returns to the calling form.
    On page 3 I now try to capture the selected values. For a test item I managed to do this by defining this items source as:
    [PL/SQL function body]
    begin
    if V('P10_SELECTED') = 'Y'
    then
    return V('P10_DOC_ID'); -- selected value
    else
    return V('P3_TEST'); -- else the original value
    end if;
    end;
    However I want P3_DOC_ID to capture the selected value. I tried using a computation but that did not work. Any ideas?
    thanks Rene

    You might want to check if the "Source Used" attribute for P3_DOC_ID is set to always or to "only when ..." it sounds like you need it set to "only when ..."
    If that does not work try this
    Place the following in a pl/sql anonymous block and turn off your
    computation.
    if :P10_SELECTED = 'Y'
    then
    :P3_DOC_ID := :P10_DOC_ID; -- selected value
    else
    :P3_DOC_ID := :P3_TEST; -- else the original value
    end if;

  • Help with Computer Purchase

    Im not even sure I am in the right community but here it goes I am looking at getting new computers for my wife and me we are looking at getting 2 MBA's and one 27" iMac. I have searched the internet high and low and cannot come up with a definitive line of answers. My questions are what size would be best for the MBA's we both love the 11' but I don't know if its worth the sacrifice of 3 hours battery life and the size/ footprint secondly is the flash storage 128/256/512 I will be getting 8gb ram on either. Taking into consideration the 27" we are looking at will be nearly maxed graphics card/i7/8gb ram I will be upgrading to 32gb after we get it dont want to pay apple prices but the drive is killing me I have no idea what to get I was really only considering ssd not sure what size 256/512/1tb but then there the fusion. We will also be getting a 2tb time capsule so i thought I would be able to get away with 512 but the 1tb keeps coming up in my mind any advice on these questions would be very helpful I have been racking my brain trying to decide. Also my usage will be a large shared iTunes library music,vids whatever else probably lots of pics and a bit of documents we are both in school lastly I was wondering about futureproofing and the expected life of the computers Thank You for all advice

    For the iMac 27" a fusion drive (3TB) may be suitable, and because these handle stored files differently than a two HDD computer, with automatic file movement, there is quite a bit to know about them. There are some Support articles on a variety of topics including the airport Time Capsule, and Time machine software; also migration assistant and other things. And user accounts, permissions, privileges, sharing, etc.
    Not sure about 'futureproofing' computers, unless you happen to need sturdy workhorse machines you can personally swap out parts, troubleshoot, and repair yourselves. The design is going away from that standard.
    Some people with a more mobile lifestyle may consider a Mini computer and an iPad that could act as a display and also a keyboard to the Mini; plus have a regular keyboard and display for the Mini Mac. But that's probably an acquired taste. The MacBook/Air models with 256GB SSD would be plenty fast, not sure about the actual battery life between the 11" and 13" models. The only MacBook model left with an optical drive built-in is the low-end MacBook/Pro 13", so if you don't mind a non-Retina display, a little more weight, it is an OK choice at less cost. I'd probably get that, because I archive digital images to DVD media and also to external HDD. The Apple USB external superdrive may be a necessity, but other brands are said to be OK.
    Learning how to use the Recovery and backup systems in these newer computers and whatever OS X version they have installed (Mavericks may be a free download, not included inside some) so there is a ton of stuff to consider. Each device that can see the airport Time capsule may want to use it as a backup, so that would not suffice for three Macs to have one, but you could backup and even clone complete system copies to other fast USB3.0 or FireWire800 externally enclosed self-powered hard disk drives, as these could boot and run their original host computer. A timemachine backup can't.
    I fear that I could write a few hours and really say nothing; however I have read about most problems and issues, support related and service, at least online; and see there are some items I would avoid. In fact my hardware is not new and the OS X is a bit dated. I have other interests nowadays and no longer do the 'cutting edge' or retail thing. But then, I'm not sold on a smart phone yet either. I prefer to be by myself to think, and research more directly.
    However, as I age my photographic memory has faded some...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Need help with computer freezing up.

    I seem to be having some trouble with my computer freezing up from time to time. Usually it's when I'm using the program Transmission or Toast Titanium. I can't access the applications files, the Dock icons or do any force quit on the programs. Also I can't do a restart or shut down. I have tried using the keystrokes to shut down and restart, but as well this doesn't work. Everything gets frozen. The only way I can stop the freeze is to manually turn the computer off by the on/off button in the back of the computer. I have heard it is really bad to do so. What else could I do when the computer is frozen like this to get it unstuck? Also being that this has happened a few times, how do I correct the programs so that it won't keep happening?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    When you run a program in Mac it loads the necessary information to the RAM and access it from there. If other programs are running in the computer along with the Toast Titanium then there is a possibility of the memory unable to address all the requirements. The best way is to keep an eye on the memory usage from Activity monitor when you start using the Toast next time.
    While trying to burn the data into a CD the files are first loaded into the memory so that it will be written to the disk. So what I will suggest is to close all the applications and wait for a reasonable amount of time to see whether the computer frees up memory and starts to write onto the disk.
    If not, you will also need to free up some hard drive space.
    Also in the ~/Library/Logs/Crash Reporter look for crash files and see what is causing the issue.
    Shutting down the computer with the Power on/off button is not that good however if nothing else is working, you have no choice other than that.
    Hope that helps....
    I wanted to add few more tips.

  • Help with computer setup and PP settings for faster/better previews

    I have been using Cyberlink PowerDirector software for video editing.  It is very easy to use and can do quite a bit.  It was also accelerated by Intel HD graphics built into my system, so I could see a lot of my work at a pretty high resolution in real time.
    However, I wanted to see what PP was capable of, specifically the Warp Stabilizer.
    So I downloaded PP and have been trying to use it, but it was just slow as heck to preview anything (chop stop chop stop...), with render times being insanely long (12 hours for five minutes of footage vs. about 30 minutes with PowerDirector).
    Thinking it was a problem with my system and I needed to get a real graphics card, I got an EVGA GTX 670 (FTW) for $400, and popped it in.  I modified the text file so PP would see it as a compatible card, opened up PP and changed the engine to the new card.
    Things are faster, but I was expecting a lot more.  Here's what I'm doing:
    1. Shooting Canon 5D mark II (now III) clips 20-60 seconds long, 1080p.
    2. Import to PP and sequence them.
    3. Adding effects:
         A. Top adjustment layer for fast color correction (white balance)
         B. Next adjustment layer: 3-way color, shadow/highlight, unsharp mask, fast blur
         C. Video 1 layer has the clips with warp stabilizer applied to each, and dissolves.
    My final output will be 720p.  ( I shoot 1080p so the Warp Stabilizer will have more to work with, and I can crop without feeling like I'm degrading quality).
    My system: i7 2600k, 16GB RAM, GTX 670 graphics, 120GB SSD "Max IOPS", 2TB 7200rpm internal, 2TB 7200rpm external (USB 2.0, backup drive).
    I can currently preview at 1/4 res in realtime.  I would really like to be able to get to 1/2 res (of course full would be great).  One thing that worries me is that GPU-Z indicates that my GPU is only running at about 2% while previewing, while CPU usage is at around 50%.  I was under the impression that the Mercury thing would use GPU/CUDA to process previews and effects that are supported (that includes Warp Stabilizer).
    I've looked at Sequence Settings and fiddled with Preview File Format and size, but that doesn't seem to do anything.  I'm currently looking around at codecs (Cineform, DNxHD), but don't know if those can help.
    What settings should I alter to get better previews?

    Well I'm still pretty clueless about this, but for anyone who is looking at this and wondering, here's what I've gleaned:
    1.  After Effects, especially CS6, makes much more and better use of graphics cards than does Premiere Pro.  I'm guessing that PP will, in future versions, make better use of them.  For now, no need to spend more than a couple hundred bucks on one.
    2.  Update the software.  PP and AE both performed substantially better after installing the .01 update from adobe.  After you install the update, be sure to re-do the CUDA hack, if necessary.
    3.  As it stands, money for a PP system is best spent on a processor, as in the newest Intel (currently Ivy Bridge), and overclocked.  This is where performance happens.  I'd say on a 2012 system, 16 GB RAM should be considered a minimum for video editing, and 24 or 32 if you can afford it.  More than that probably won't be utilized.  Hard disks can affect performance, but I don't think it's a bottleneck unless you're doing something that requires VERY fast/large reads and writes (4k source?).  Most people who have high-end editing stations also have a bunch of drives in RAID, but if you look at the performance chart, the SECOND highest scoring tester did not use RAID (though did use a presumably fast and large SSD).
    Keep in mind that all of this has to do with RENDER speeds.  I still don't know what the bottleneck is for PREVIEWS, but I'm just going to assume it's the same.

  • Help with computer and Mountain Lion

    I am running Snow Leopard on my iMac but cannot upgrade to Mountain Lion because my computer was purchased in early 2007. Is there any way to get the iCloud for this computer?

    If your Mac meets the following requirements you can upgrade to Lion:
    Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
    However Lion is not available directly from the Mac App Store, having been replaced by Mountain Lion, but you should be able to get it by ringing 1-800-MY-APPLE if you're in the USA, or the number given at bottom left of this page for other countries.

  • HT1420 help with computer authorization

    How do i authorize a my apple laptop to my sons i tunes account?

    Authorization and Deauthorization
    Macs:  iTunes Store- About authorization and deauthorization.
    Windows: How to Authorize or Deauthorize iTunes | PCWorld.
    In iTunes you use the Authorize This Computer or De-authorize This Computer option under the Store menu in iTunes' menubar. For Windows use the ALT-S keys to access it. Or turn on Windows 7 and 8 iTunes menus: iTunes- Turning on iTunes menus in Windows 8 and 7.
    More On De-authorizing Computers (contributed by user John Galt)
    You can de-authorize individual computers, but only by using those computers. The only other option is to "de-authorize all" from your iTunes account.
      1. Open iTunes on a computer
      2. From the Store menu, select "View my Account..."
      3. Sign in with your Apple ID and password.
      4. Under "Computer Authorizations" select "De-authorize All".
      5. Authorize each computer you still have, as you may require.
    You may only do this once per year.
    After you "de-authorize all" your authorized computers, re-authorize each one as required.
    If you have de-authorized all computers and need to do it again, but your year has not elapsed, then contact: Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us.

    You are declaring

    You can't declare a method in a method.
