Help with syncing iTunes

I have two computers with two different iTunes libraries. On computer 1 I pay to put my music in the cloud, as with computer 2 I don’t. I want all of my music from computer 1 to be in computer 2 WITHOUT everything from computer 2 going to computer 1.
So basically I want everything from the cloud on my other library to be on another library without them syncing.

Hi twest17,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities. Based on what you stated, it sounds like the iPhone is not showing up in iTunes in Windows. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Need help with ipod itunes syncing problem just occured

i restored my computer to factory settings and when i did that i lost my itunes and when i reinstalled it and tried to sync my ipod to the new installation of itunes it said that my ipod is synced with another itunes and that to sync it wiht this itunes it would delete and replace all data on my ipod with data from my itunes which is nuthing please help i dont wanna lose all my songs and apps an all that

You should have created a backup of your Itunes library before your computer restore to factory setting so that you can copy them to your new iTunes.
Sync is only oneway, from PC to your device. Unless you have the music on your PC, iTunes is going to wipe out what you have on your device if you are syncing to a new library.
You can only transfer Purchased music over to Itunes on your PC.

As for you own music, you may have to use a third party software to copy over. A good Free one is called Sharepod which you can download from Download.com here:

  • Hello I have a few questions and I need some help with my iTunes and  iPod

    Hello iTunes people.
I have a little problem with my iTunes. I actually almost know nothing about iTunes really. But I have had a 80 gig ipod .. ummm I think it's a iPod classic maybe. A long time ago I just downloaded iTunes. I think one of my tech friends already had put the program onto my PC so I did not even have to download it. Anyways I put my life's collection of mp3's onto iTunes and then syncs it with my iPod and it worked great. Here is my problem. I just recently bought a MONSTER PC. I have lovingly named it " ED209 " I downloaded iTunes for it and I have the most up to date version.8.1.1 is the most current version correct? Ok well here is my problem. What I want to do is I want to put everything that is currently on my iPod ONTO the iTunes library. I DO NOT want to import anything from the library or playlist or whatever you call it ONTO the iPod because there is nothing in the library. Now this is were its gets weird and possibly silly. A person I was chatting with on Facebook sort of made fun of me because she was like " Dude! Just push " Sync " But the reason I am paranoid is because THIS is the message I get....
" The iPod " Aaron's iPod " is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this ipod and sync with this iTunes library? "
HOLY COW!! That girl on Facebook was making fun of me but READ THAT. That exactly says ERASE the "iPod" and Sync with THIS library " It does not say put what is ON the iPod into THIS Library. It says it the other way around. Clear as day it says it will ERASE the " Ipod " it does not say " Fill the library with whats on your iPod "
Do I all of a sudden not understand English or something???? I know how to freaking read and from what it says is sounds a 100 percent like " we will ERASE youe iPod and put everything from this playist or library onto your iPiod" But there is NOTHING in my library? Am I mentally challenged or what?
I hope someone can help me here and I have another request. Could someone just tell me all the cool things I can do with iTunes and my iPod? I am trying to read the help files and the FAQ and whatever else Apple provides you with but it has SO MUCH crap that looks usless. I find myself reading a whole paragraph about some simple little section of s section of a section of a feature! Know what I mean. Someone give me the long and short of the neat things I can do with this stuff. I have windows Vista with a wicked computer that has like 6 gigs of ram and m iPod is a 80 GB Classic
    help !!

*What I want to do is I want to put everything that is currently on my iPod ONTO the iTunes library.*
1). Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • Need help with my iTunes on iPhone 5 and Macbook Pro

Need help with my iPhone 5 and my Macbook Pro.  I was purchased some music on itunes at my mac. Some reason I deleted those music from both on Mac and iPhone 5.  Today, I went to my iPhone iTunes store inside of iCloud to redownload my puchased. But those song won't able to sync back to my iTunes library on my Mac.  Can anyone help me with that ??....

  • Need help with syncing, PLEASE

Need to sync 2 iphones (one a 4g other a 3g) each one to a separate computer (wife's desktop with win 7, I have a laptop win vista) and I have only one itune account. I would like to be able to sync all apps to each phone, BUT I only want to sync her contact/address book to hers and only my contacts /address book to my phone.
    Is it POSSIBLE?
Any suggestion and help will be appreciated...
    Don

Since all 3rd party apps are available in the iTunes library on your computer and you are sharing the same iTunes account, she can sync iTunes content only with iTunes on your computer - music, movies, tv shows, and 3rd party apps without syncing contacts with a supported address book application on your computer. She won't have sync contacts selected under the Info tab for her iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on your computer. She can sync contacts only with a supported address book application on her computer. She won't have Sync Music, Sync Movies, Sync TV Shows, and Sync Apps under these tabs for her iPhone sync preferences with iTunes on her computer.

  • HT1386 Help with syncing pictures and music

Hi - I have an Ipad 2 and when I first synced everything up with my itunes, it added all of my music and photos. Now my ipad says storage is full. I want to delete some songs and photos though it appears that I need to be on my home computer to do this and not my ipad. When I try and sync it says it will delete what I have. Do I do this, and with my pictures it just shows me general folders to sync, not specific photos. Can anyone help?

Did you format the new card? You need to do that before being able to access it. You do that via SETTINGS / SD Card & Phone Storage   - you need to UNMOUNT it first, then click on FORMAT SD CARD.
As far as the MUSIC, I would just connect via USB and access the files (DCIM / MEDIA) via File Folders on your PC .. get the Media Manager out of the way - it causes more problems than solutions.  IMHO.

  • Help with syncing to a new computer.

    Hello.
We recently had an old computer of ours shut down, so now my laptop has become the primary iTunes sync place for my entire family.
Every ipod and iphone has synced nicely with the new computer except one.
My moms will not sync and I can not add apps or music onto her iPhone from my iTunes.
Her phone however is authorized with my computer.
    So two questions...
How do I get her phone to cooperate with my iTunes?
"Updating to iOS 5.0.1 will delete all of the apps and media, including iTunes Store purchases, on your iPhone. To preserve your content, apply this update on the computer where you sync apps, music, videos, and photos."
^If the original computer is not available how do I update her phone on the new computer without wiping out all the data?
    Thanks.

    This should help: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
You definitely do not want to just connect to a new computer.  It will wipe all you music.  You must have your media on your new computer first.  Before connecting your phone, open iTunes and go to Preferences.  Make sure you uncheck the box that says to sync automatically when the phone is connected.  Sync is something you want to be in charge of, especially the first time on a new computer.

I'm unsure about the first question. Do you even have a 7. system and receiver? If you just have 5., you should be able to remap the audio in the THX console.
I do have a sony 7. reciever str de-995 its an older one but its only for my cpu. At first i didnt even have THX installed because it didnt come with the driver package for some reason until i downloaded the daniel_k support drivers and installed it. But it doesnt help in anyway.
I have checked every where regarding the first question and alot of people are having problems getting sound out of there rear channels and the sound being re-mapped to the surround right and the surround left as if there rear left and rear right.
I read somewhere that the daniel_k support drivers would fix this but it didnt for me and many others.
For the second question i assumed it would be becasue of the spidf pass through and that my onboard sound card was inferior to the xfi titaniums. But i wasnt sure and i was hopeing that someone would have a solution for that problem because i miss controlling the volume with my keyboard.

  • HT204406 Hello, I need help with my iTunes match

Helo, I need help with iTunes Match.
I signed up for iTunes match.  It did its thing and now it is supposed to have every one of my songs in the cloud.
I checked for Ring my bell (Which I purchase from iTunes) and it is not on my iTunes on my computer anymore?
I did match to give my 4S with limited memory and over 400 songs the ability to put all songs in the cloud, then by connecting to my computer, somehow I can tell my phone to not sync with match, the re sync and all the songs would be deleted from my phone and then I could down load any songs I wanted on my phone, thus giving me a bunch more memory.   I could not figure out how to do this?
Can you please help me.  Thank you.

You probably won't like this suggestion, but I suggest you reinstall Lion.
First, backup your system. Next, reboot your system, press/hold the COMMAND-R keys to boot into the Recovery HD. Select 'Reinstall Mac OS X'. If you purchased Lion as an upgrade to Snow Leopard, the reinstall process will install Lion 10.7.3. If your system came preinstalled with Lion, you might still get Lion 10.7.2. Both installs are a total install of the OS. None of your apps or data will be impacted. Just the OS.

  • Need some help with weird iTunes occurrence

    Hello all,
First time poster here; it's rather lengthy but here goes. Four days ago I purchased some songs from iTunes; when I went to move them to a playlist, I noticed all my purchased music and my self-created playlists were gone. All of my purchased TV shows and podcasts were gone also. I also noticed some of my playlists were missing from my iPod. And no, I had not backed up my stuff...Stupid, I know. I hooked up my iPod to try to restore at least the purchased stuff and I rec'd a message saying my iPod is synced with another library; it did give me the option of transferring my purchased stuff from the iPod to iTunes. Everything transferred over except my purchased podcasts and music I had loaded from my CDs. It also didn't restore my playlists so I recreated the lists in iTunes then reconnected my iPod. The only option I now receive is the following message: "The iPod Mary Connell's iPod is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?"
    My questions:
    1. I have never connected my iPod to another computer or set up another library on my computer so I'm not sure what is going on. Can anybody provide an explanation? What should I do next? Is it possible there is another instance of iTunes on my computer? I'm not sure how since I never added one but I have heard of iTunes doing funky stuff on a Windows system.
    2. I read the instructions in the FAQs in another iTunes group re: how to transfer music files from the iPod to iTunes in Windows (I have a 30g video iPod and am using XP) Will I be able to restore my playlists and podcasts?
    3. I now have an external hard drive and the Roxio back up software. If I only want to back up my iTunes files at this point, what files am I looking for?
I know that's a lot but I hope you guys can help! Thanks in advance and yes, I promise to do a back up ASAP!!!

See if this helps--from The iTunes Help Page:
    Finding duplicate items
You can search for items that have the same title and are by the same artist.
    To find duplicates:
Select an item below Library or Playlists, and then choose View > Show Duplicates.
To see all items again, click Show All at the bottom of the iTunes window.

Devices can only sync with one library at a time.  If you sync with a different library it will erase other content and update according to the new library.

  • Ipod nano help with syncing music to new computer?

I have two ipod nanos, one 6th gen. the other 7th gen, and the laptop I had all the music on and synced from cant be accessed anymore, so how can I get the music onto a different computer and be able to sync new music to them?

Thanks!  I did it again using my iPod again.  (I couldn't find an external drive large enough)
What am I supposed to do with the iTunes folder that is now on my desktop from the step below:
    Copy music to new computer
To copy all your music files (including the library file that holds all your playlists and other settings) to your new computer:
Locate your Music folder (Mac OS X) or your My Music folder (Windows) on your new computer:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
Drag the iTunes folder in this location out to the desktop.
    Can I just delete that?
